Dropped in for a class while in DC on vacation. Super easy to sign up for a class. Coach was fantastic and the other members were welcoming. It is a little more expensive for a drop in than I'm used to ($25) but I'm also not accustomed to big city prices. I will definitely drop in again when back in DC.

Let me start off by saying, I LOVE this box! The location: Safe area. Trendy location. Right next to a couple coffee shops and walking distance to Whole Foods (where I had lunch after my workout) The Facilities: Great facilities, good size and enough equipment. They really know how to utilize the space they have. The people: I dropped in to Crossfit DC and was immediately welcomed by the members who were stretching and preparing for the next class. Everyone was nice, informative and full of smiles! It's so comforting to feel welcomed especially when you're in an unfamiliar place. Side note: I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone new to the area- great way to meet people. The workout: From what I experienced, this box seems to be more strength based with met-cons following the strength workout. Great programming! The coaches: All of the coaches I met were great. The two main coaches are Tom & Chris. Both are amazing! Their coaching really sets this box apart from the others. They pay attention to every single person & know how to push you while also ensuring your form is correct. I only have the best things to say about this box! My experience with them was great. If I lived in DC, this would be my home box! Visiting crossfitters: There is no drop in fee. They do sell Crossfit DC shirts! I bought two and took one back for the head coach at my home box. :)

    The coolest box in DC!

I found the perfect box...with knowledgeable coaches and amazing community. I recently moved from CA (Coachella Valley). I was told by my teammates at CrossFit Shifted to try out lots of boxes before deciding on one. So I went in to check out CFDC spoke with coaches... As soon as I stepped a foot-in I immediately knew that this box was gonna be my 2nd home away from home. I have been training for two month here... I must say I have improved so much in these two months. I highly recommend CFDC!!!

Marketing department is spot on! Unfortunately not an actual Pokestop

TL;DR - Excellent place to drop-in while in DC Email them before dropping in so you can sign a quick liability waiver and you're all set. Being on vacation, they were flexible with which session I could drop inn on. $25 total for a shirt and class Coach Chris and the members were very nice and welcoming. He made sure to adjust the workout to accommodate my wrist injury (a sign of a good gym and instructor). Programming for the day was fun yet challenging. 100% would drop in again

This is the best CrossFit box thus far. It's not too big and not too small. It's a perfect size and the place is immaculate. Super clean. You can definitely tell that Tom is super organized with just looking around the box. I've been to several CrossFit boxes and I haven't enjoyed one as much as this one. I joined in August, and my first day was full of friendly members asking questions to get to know me and my partner. Tom, the owner and coach, consistently checked in on us during the WOD and he knew everyone's names. The WODs include a warm up, strength, and met con. All done in an hour or less. The time management skills at this place is impeccable, and I absolutely love it since I think every second of every day counts. Even with large groups of people coming in to workout, the organization is amazing. When I joined, Tom was doing construction to the box and now it's all done! He added three showers, and they are spacious and awesome. This gym definitely has everything you could possibly want and expect! It doesn't scream douchebag when you walk in, nor will you find unapproachable meat heads walking around. The coaches take their time to work with you while you're doing the movements. They're very attentive to your form, unlike some gyms I've been to. They're all about safety rather than, 'hey, go heavy and go fast and ignore your form.' They also implement stretches at the end so you won't be as sore the next day. Again, all this done in under an hour! The workouts are posted daily; you can always count on Chris to publish the workout. If you want to focus on form and get better and stronger, this place is it. Also, on Sundays, the workout is 90 min long and Chris focuses so much on your form to make sure you reach your maximum properly. Good wod, good people, good price, good location. I can honestly keep going about how awesome this place is, but definitely drop in and check it out. You won't be disappointed!

6 am workout. Great Coach and great Box

The coaching is still great at CFDC, which is one of the reasons I've remained a member there even with my hip problems.

If you are considering signing for trial classes and are perusing this page for reviews - good for…read moreyou for doing your due diligence. No matter what shape you are in, who you will be entrusting your body to is very important. I can say with full confidence that every single one of the what? three bad reviews? Of Sweatbox  should be cast aside because they are irrelevant since none of them talk about the actual sweat method and what it does to your body. Firstly, if you are worried if fat shaming/ageism exists here. The answer is a firm NO. I am older, I am overweight , and I was  welcomed with open arms, made a part of the family immediately, and that has not changed since the first class. I went to one OrangeTheory location a year or so back and was full on fat-and-age shamed and that made my self esteem spiral down into dark abyss for a very long time. Because words hurt, because I am already so vulnerable and frightened to cross the threshold of the gym, I need support, not otherwise. SweatBox is all welcoming, all inclusive type of place. Yes, they are located inside an exact copy of the Globo Gym from Dodgeball, (I got jokes) but just walk to the back of the first floor, to the Sweatbox counter, as far as I understand, gym and them are two separate entities. I purchased a 7-day, $34.00 unlimited trial pass online, came 30 minutes early for the instruction session (important to come early, instructors won't say no to you if you show up 5 minutes prior to class, but ultimately you are shorthanding yourself on the instruction part - don't you want to know as much as you can about bike set up, and components of training? And remember that instructors have other student s  to take care of prior to class) I began my training on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019 and I made sure to come every day, dragging my self in sometimes, even if my body screamed to go get nachos instead. The instructors I've experienced during the trial week were: Alexx G Shawn M Kevin D Ashley D I loved all the instructors, Alexx is all tough love, just as described in his bio, but I love his light show and music choices. Kevin has an amazing aura and energy and makes you feel included. Then comes Ashley, wow. I don't know if she somehow hypnotizes the class, but you get in the zone, stop thinking of outside world, and all you focus on is her voice, her example poses, and her corrections, nothing else. At the end of the class, when you finally come to, you realize that you worked out for a full hour and  never looked at the clock once! Shawn is a rare soul. I have my collection of special, big hearted people, the list is short, but Shawn is on it. First of all the energy during his classes is through the roof, he is so charismatic, you WANT to do good to show him your appreciation. But my experience with him is also more personal. When I felt embarrassed, questioned myself, felt weak, cried like a baby after second class, Shawn in the gentlest of ways supported me, was there for me, helped me get past those hurdles and I cannot be more thankful. He always has words of encouragement, listens with attention, he is present. What an amazing human being. To sum up - 15 lbs. down (results will vary of course) and I signed up for an unlimited monthly. They got me good.

From the moment, I walked in I felt welcomed especially with Brad taking me into the studio early to get me acclimated with the equipment. Brad was an amazing instructor as well, checking on me every few rounds to make sure I was okay and if I needed modifications for anything. I loved his energy throughout the class too. I typically never ask about the membership plans after a class but today I did. I have one more class on my intro offer but I am highly considering getting a membership. I've done other HILT style classes at the other gyms but this one is the best.

The instructors are dope- from Lydia who helped me survive my first class and gave thoughtful recs to Rain, Johnny, Justin, and Phil- who have kept pushing me and everyone ar Barry's. Each has their own strength and style, but the baseline standard is always top notch. Loretta and the faculties team keep the space amazingly spotless, welcoming, and inclusive perfect working condition (lights, showers, products, filtered water, towels etc)! The smoothies are delicious! I'm a member of equinox, I love Solidcore, but the entire Barry's experience puts this place - and members experience - on a whole different level.
