A staple in the Princeton Shopping Center, Cross Culture provides a tasty experience in a dimly lit, intimate setting. The menu, although delicious, tips on the expensive and small-size side.

Portion was big and food was great! Inside of shopping complex so a plenty parking space was available. Service was great. We got mango lassi, shrimp tandoori and vegetable samosa as appetizers. For main we got chicken biryani, chicken makhani, and lamb rogan josh with garlic naan.

Had dinner this past week with my daughter. The place is very cozy inside and we arrived for an early dinner so it was not at all crowded and we were greeted and quickly seated. Our server was attentive and friendly. We started with the mixed bread basket which comes with naan, onion kulcha, and puri accompanied by dipping sauces. For entrees we got the lamb curry and tandoori mixed grill which comes out steaming and contains tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, malai chicken kabab, boti kabab, shrimp tandoori and fish tikka. Food was very good and the service/experience was also very good. Will likely come again soon.

[My Rating: 79%] + Short Review + Pandemic Era As a rule, I generally only visit Indian restaurants for carefully scouted-out lunch buffets after having been snubbed on portion sizes one too many times. However, like alpine ibexes compelled to scale vertical dam walls to lick salt deposits in a gamble to supplement dietary deficiencies, having been nutritionally deprived of any Indian food for basically the entirety of the past year, my family and I were obliged to try out this restaurant on our latest visit to Princeton. As with other takeout-only reviews I post, I feel I do need to caveat that it would be unfair to hold the texture of the food at stake at the same standard as if it were served on the spot. Things congeal, and it's not the chef's fault. While I would say it hit the high bar for flavor, it neither disappointed nor wowed on all counts. Of the four main dishes we sampled, none stood out as being particularly amazing despite still each holding their own in terms of overall taste and aroma. The texture was average, being a little overly goopy at times (although this is not always a bad thing). The rice portions were very generous, but the entrees themselves were served in smallish containers that look disappointingly small when you take them out of the bag. Perhaps this is a standard that I just need to accommodate, but the price was still on the high side even if this were the case. Although their paratha tasted great, it was quite thin, and the garlic naan we supplemented it with was an alien creation--the garlic was seemingly orange(?), and I can't recall actually registering much of a garlic flavor profile from the bread. The enigma endures. They had limited outdoor seating and a confusing pickup location situated inside a plaza, and they have yet to open up the indoor arrangements. The man at the cash register had blockaded the door with a table in observance with anti-COVID measures and was very kind and prompt. I would probably visit again, and I would definitely swing by if they had a buffet open for lunch.

Shrimp & seafood curry! Delicious!

Delicious Indian cuisine even for lunch in a pleasantly decorated restaurant with terrific service and the staff that really cares. My new favorite lunch spot two blocks from where I work! Not sure why I haven't been here before. Very nicely and comfortably decorated restaurant on the smaller size in the Princeton shopping center strip mall on Harrison Street. They serve the unleavened bread and rice with your meal which are extraordinary! The best bread I've had in an Indian restaurant to date! They had either shrimp or seafood curry on the menu. I asked him to make it shrimp and seafood curry which they did. Wow absolutely delicious! If you love Indian food you've got to make it out here! My friends both ordered the chicken tikka masala in a rich, creamy tomato sauce! They went to heaven right in front of me they loved every bite. Now here's something that I've never seen before, they serve you so much food that if you have any of your main dish left over, they will not only pack it up for you but they will throw in extra bread and rice to make it a meal for when you get home! In a sense getting two meals out of one, bachelors take note! So hey that secures five stars in my book! Come here and tell me you don't agree! Very highly recommended for excellent Indian food with terrific customer service.

Dead cockroach in lamb biryani

We've taken takeouts from this place multiple times, and we found dead cockroach in lamb biryani today- think twice before buying from this place. DISGUSTING!

Samosas
Barkha K.

My review is based solely on their appetizer Samosa. Double fried, deflated and unappetizing. These are not fresh and looks like they were dropped in cold oil.. whatever the case they were terrible. Regret not going the extra feet to get frozen from a grocery store.

Chicken tikka masala.. lunch ... not the best photo but trust me - it is delish!
Maria V.

I was waiting for the day that my job ordered lunch from here again - and today was the day! Now this review is strictly for takeout- and for the lunch chicken Tikka masala . I just love it so much . So delish that it is a 5 stars . I don't eat Indian food much but this place is one of the best I've had as far as chicken tikka masala . I've never been to the actual restaurant because we order and someone goes and gets it for us Photo attached

Best Indian food in Princeton, and some of my favorite I've had anywhere. Love their palak paneer and chicken tikka masala.

Dvaraka Indian Cuisine - Chana palak

We would have been grateful enough for a warm restaurant and decent food, but I certainly didn't expect to find my favorite Indian food in New Jersey here (I know that's a big claim; it was just that good). Let's address the elephant in the room here: sometimes Indian food doesn't look camera-ready. For instance, my absolute favorite thing here was the chana palak, an extremely flavor-packed curry with chickpeas and spinach. What shows up (regretfully) as a greenish mud in pictures is actually an absolute flavor bomb in the mouth. Truly, I still have dreams about this dish. If looks matter to you, I also highly recommend the salmon tandoori special. It arrived on a sizzling platter (the kind that makes heads turn and eyes lock as it approaches the lucky table). There was more flavor to be had here, and I adore a dish that's hot enough to carry a blister risk while eating...especially in the middle of an icy snowstorm. Service was incredibly warm, welcoming, and efficient. Our server checked in with us the exact right number of times, and he repeatedly asked about whether we wanted to take leftovers home, the way a friend or kind auntie might after you've dined sumptuously at her table.

I am now writing this about to dig back in to what was a great meal. If you're in the Princeton area, Dvaraka should definitely be on your must-visit list.

They have a long list of unique dosa fillings including paneer, onion, eggs, Indian flavored lays chips, crushed samosas, and even meat fillings such as lamb, chicken, and beef and sweet fillings such as Nutella and strawberry jam. The items are prepared by the efficient staff known as "dosa jockeys" in an open kitchen with limited seating available. The dosas are delicious with golden crispy edges and tender warm filling. The canteen sandwiches are particularly unique and delicious consisting of three slices of bread with one in the middle toasted with melted chili cheese, shallots, and cheddar. It takes 25 minutes to prepare. We washed it down with sweet lime soda, an Indian concoction that is hard to find outside of India consisting of lime soda, cumin powder, rock salt, lime slices, and mint leaves.

In spite of good reviews and a second change in decor, that business was not able to survive very long. As I walked in to pick up my order I had mixed feelings. Sad about the fact that another very good and unique European restaurant was gone, and wondering about the future success of the new business. I noticed that the place had been painted and redecorated once again . This I guess could be called an Indian fusion house, offering many common dishes along with some I had not heard of. They also have Indo Chinese options. My first visit was so good that I thought I would return once more before reviewing. I tried the garlic naan and aloo paratha, both good to very good. The paratha was very thin and had a delicately spiced potato mixture inside, I wished there was more filling but enjoyed as it was. The chicken 65 tasted very good, but had too much sauce as I would have preferred the pieces of meat to be crispy. Chicken Radha was a rustic curry with about half of a bone in chicken. I loved this dish and the portion was 2 meals. Chicken biryani was equally tasty and came with very good raita. Chicken Manchow soup was new to me, think hot and sour soup and then add copious amounts of ginger and garlic. You have to like garlic to appreciate this soup, and I do and did! Service was friendly on both visits and orders were packed up very well, with additional onion, lime and peppers for the biryani and crispy noodles to top the soup with. A good friend went to dine in and had a great meal too, taking advantage of the all you can eat lunch Thali. I'm at about 4.5 stars for now....

The samosa was dry and flavorless. I paid for the pair, asked one to be wrapped up and it vanished never to return. Guess they'll reheat it and sell it the next chap. Frankly that's what it tasted like - reheated leftovers. But that was money out of my pocket. The chicken tikka was leathery and without my flavor. I asked that to be wrapped up and the next server refused. So he grabbed the warm skillet handle to push it towards me as if to ensure I understood my job. He didn't burn himself. I suggested he try again. So I dustily speared the dry chicken chunks and plopped them in the cheap styrofoam container he'd throw on the table then threw the stale cold rice on top. Voila. My thanksgiving dinner the next night. Topping off the experience was the shabby bathroom. I share pics. Hallmark for me of an eatery I won't rerun to is an unclean lavatory. Should have known. Mirrored the exterior entrance. Lack of care and maintenance. Also a couple came in while i was there, sat down but then ten minutes inexplicably left. The sole positives? Low key light jazz in the background and a homey atmosphere. But i could get that at home.
