I decided to give this place a try for lunch and I'm so glad I did. I called ahead and ordered the chicken combo, and wow--what a pleasant surprise. The variety alone was impressive, and every single item was bursting with flavor. Everything tasted fresh, perfectly seasoned, and incredibly satisfying. By the time I finished, I was happily full and already planning my next visit. The staff was friendly, considerate, and welcoming from start to finish. An easy 10/10. I remember this place from years ago when it was a Stewarts Root Beer drive in joint. They have places to sit outside that are picnic tables and benches. Food was very good and generous in portion size. Their Naan was good. Had almost too many different containers. Service was friendly and pretty quick. Will be back! read more

I was in the mood for Indian food after a co worker mentioned it so I decided to try Mamas Kitchen out via DoorDash delivery. I ordered the Chicken Tika Masala and Garlic Naan and both were absolutely delicious! I could tell they "calmed down" the spice level a bit which I didn't mind and the serving was larger than I expected. I will definitely order from (or visit) here again! read more

Located at the old Stewart's/ Meatheads/Mannys on rt 1, I first noticed this when driving to another Indian place. Meatheads did great at this "starter" location before moving into nicer digs. Mannys.... never got there so I can't comment. But if my first visit held any clue, I think Mamas could have a chance to thrive here. I found their online menu that was fairly focused. I selected 2 apps, and a lunch special. The kind young man waiting on me included a sample of gulab jamun in my takeout. The apps: I started with egg Bonda, hard boiled eggs coated in a batter and tossed with charred pepper and onions and spices. I loved it, very different and I'll definitely get again. The samosas looked a bit standard, phyllo dough wrappers. But the filling was excellent, the chicken was tender and spicy with lots of herbs. The green chutney was superb too, thick, hot and herby. The lunch special was a yellow chicken curry that came with 2 pieces of very good paratha. My first taste of the curry was sweet, but soon enough the spices and heat came out. This was a thick and creamy curry with a lot of boneless chicken pieces. I enjoyed it very much. Now the elephant in the room is this location. There's a heated tent outside, obviously that's a drawback for those looking for comfort and decor. As for me, I'm just looking for great food, and I found some here for sure. Had heard great things about this place and sadly it fell really short. The pluses the bread, samosas, and price is great. The low part I don't think I can even call what I received an Indian curry. The flavor was tasty but the consistency was like squash soup and it had the complexity of Campbells soup. If you asked me what it taste like I'd say spicy Indian should be thick and creamy and and complex the curry looked like a tai curry. It was more a soup than a sauce. I don't know if I can be too harsh because it was tasty it just wasn't an Indian curry. read more

The vegetable pakora was a large tasty serving of vegetables in a light crispy coating. The sauces were the right complement to the pakora pieces. I had the non veg Thali. The five small dishes contained a lentil dish, two chicken dishes, raita, rice and a dessert. The naan was especially delicious. My companion raved about her tandoori shrimp. I had high hopes for this new venue. Overall, the cuisine was fine. I was expecting more flavorful dishes. Not quite achieved, but it was not bad. We ordered chicken tikki masala, tandoori chicken, butter and garlic naan, pakora and a vegan chili appetizer. We asked for medium spice level since this was a first time visit. Unfortunately, all dishes lacked any indication of spice. The chicken tikki masala sauce tasted too much like tomato sauce and was devoid of flavor depth. The serving was ample so that was good. The chicken tandoori was fine but we were underwhelmed by the freshness of the chicken. Again, it lacked depth of flavor. The other items were fine. I thought the price was a bit high for the entrees: $18.99 for the tiki masala and same for tandoori chicken. The other items were more reasonably priced. Service was great. The man who took our order was a gentleman! He was so kind. I paid in cash but was short $1 + change and needed to go back to my car to get the remainder. He said what I provided in cash was fine. I appreciated that as a kind gesture. Oh, this is a take out only venue (place looks like it was formerly a Stewart's Drive In). I will return and try again. This time, I will ask for the highest spice level and go from there. Mamas Kitchen definitely deserves another shot. read more

I first heard about this place when a friend ordered food from here while I was visiting him. I stopped by this weekend for a quick takeout, and I can confidently say it's a spot worth keeping an eye on. The food was incredible, and the chef kindly accommodated my requested spice level. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, and it tasted very close to how it's served back home. I'll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend giving this promising place a try. read more

The best Indian food I've ever had. Tucked away on the side of Route 1, this little gem has a small but focused menu. I ordered the veg combo for lunch. It came with rice, naan, pakoras, lentil curry, butter paneer, and rice pudding. All for 10.99! I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture. We have had two delicious dinners from Mama's Kitchen and loved every dish! Tandoori shrimp was very tender, and the peppers and onions were done just right.
