What a find and hidden gem in the city's Southport area. Lucked into going here when we drove by and saw it. Very friendly and outgoing hostess created us in a professional demeanor but as if we were a longtime friend and regular customer. Our server, Matias, was outstanding - welcoming us, explaining the menu, engaging in conversation and always available without being overbearing. I appreciated that we were asked if we had any food allergies or dietary concerns/restrictions - it said a lot to me about both the Chef and Management/Owners really caring about you and your personal experience. The menu, while smaller, offered a variety of appetizers, breakfast, salads, and sandwiches - all available when they first opened their doors at 830 on a Saturday. Very reasonably priced for being in Chicago and the portion size. I had the fried egg sandwich on fresh marbled rye and the person I was with had the omelette. Both were delicious. And the hash browns ... a day later and we're still talking about them - similar to "funeral potatoes" but fried on the grill were a pleasant surprise and outstanding. Total bill with 2 breakfasts and one coffee was just over $35 and worth every penny. Definitely a place we will visit again!! read more

We came here for brunch on a Saturday around 10:00 and waited about 20 mins for an outdoor table. (Dog friendly! Plenty of dogs on the outdoor area) The service was fast and friendly. Everything was decently priced. -Monkey Bread: So good! Great to share with 4+ people for an appetizer -Bacon Strata Benedict: Eh okay. I expected better. It seemed kind of dense and dry to me. -Wood Roasted Chicken Hash: It wasn't the kind of hash we were use to. Everything was kind of big and chunky. Too soupy. Skip this. -Crosby Omelette: A good solid omelette. Veggies felt fresh. The potatoes and amazing. Creamy & cheesy. read more

Crosby's Kitchen is a solid, all-around family restaurant with a local, neighbor vibe. The food is consistently good, but don't expect anything to blow your socks off. The spinach artichoke dip is one of their better appetizers. For brunch, get there early and snag some Monkey Bread before it sells out! For lunch and dinner, try the Roasted Chicken with mashed potatoes or the Wrightwood Salad (goat cheese lovers unite!). During the summertime, enjoy their expansive patio and tasty cocktails! read more

I had the burger without the bun (gluten allergy), bleu cheese on top, and mashed potatoes on the side. It was absolutely incredible and everyone eating with me felt the same way about their meals. Everything came out correctly and quickly. Refills were easy to get, which is not something we find very often in California. The staff is incredibly nice and efficient. Our server was fantastic and got us out fast enough to get back to the airport with plenty of time to spare. The ambiance of the restaurant is comforting and homey. If I find myself back in Chicago any time soon, I will most definitely be returning! Thank you so much for the great food and service! Keep up the good work. read more

Nice food and great service. Visited pretty late (almost 9PM!) Ambience - just like any bar across the corner. Nothing too special. I love how they were playing US open tho! Service - very fast and welcoming. Food - LOVE the food!! Essential especially the dessert!! Soooo good! Rotisserie chicken was tasty, but not too special. The hot chocolate cookie bar (forgot what exactly it's called) is Devine!!! SO GOOD. Also the starter we got was pretty good too (it's some seafood)! read more

Get the Crabcakes. They are to die for. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, and fast competent people.

Came here last minute for a late lunch and wasn't disappointed. Southport is a great street for shopping and grabbing a bite to eat. Got the fish sandwich which was extremely messing but had great flavor - served with thin fries that were also very flavorful (wish there was more) read more

We had such a lovely meal here the other night. The outdoor patio is very pleasant and all of the staff was beyond kind to us, even coming with two little boys. We got the french dip sandwich and ribs. Everything was delicious and cooked beautifully, especially the veggies. Kids eat free from 4-6 and they loved their meals too. Definitely recommend! read more

Crosby's Kitchen - Wrightwood Salad - American Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

This is my honest review and experience. Three of us visited for lunch/brunch. I ordered the Wrightwood salad, which for $16 was very light on chicken and the other tasty toppings. My daughters cheeseburger arrived without cheese. When I mentioned this to the food runner he (Chris) was not very nice about it. And it left me feeling like this mistake was somehow my fault. He brought back a correctly made cheeseburger and I confronted him about how I was treated. He did apologize but still was standoffish and pretty fake about his apology. Our server was also a bit disorganized. Or perhaps overwhelmed. Chris later delivered us a free dessert as redemption. It was a nice gesture which we all appreciated. The cookie skillet was delicious, albeit rather sweet. But our server never returned once she dropped off the bill shortly after that. My dining companion wanted to order something to-go but couldn't because she didn't come back! Their loss, I guess. The food was slightly better than average but the experience wasn't very good. The attempt to redeem was appreciated but that shouldn't have happened. Also I just noticed $1.60 processing fee on my bill with no explanation. Hm. Had everything been seamless maybe 3 stars but with the trouble I had to remove a star. Hard working and courteous busser, I hope they tip him out well! He deserves accolades! read more

We love to come back here again and again and we always seem to have a great experience. Caleb did an amazing job taking care of us and was so sweet and kind to our families, through all of the craziness. We will be back again soon, thanks Crosby's! read more

We enjoy the food here, but they often misquote wait times. This is the third time this has happened. We've been told a 20 minutes wait, which turned into over an hour. :( I wouldn't recommend if you want to be seated in a timely manner. When questioned about it, the hostess just shrugged her shoulders as if whatever. Frustrating and poor customer service. read more

I went on a busy Saturday night (around 8pm). I was told the wait was 30-45 minutes, so I had a seat and waited. About 20-25 minutes later I got an alert that my table was ready. The waitress was very nice and helpful in answering a couple questions I had about the menu as well as recommending plates. I had the Wrightwood Salad- which was to die for. The goat cheese was an excellent touch and not too rich or overpowering. The cookie skillet was delicious. I ate the whole thing by myself, although I hadn't eaten yet that day so for a less- hungry person it probably would have been perfect to share. To top it off, I ordered the Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc, which was amazing. Smooth, in the middle of the road between sweet and dry. $12 a glass, but if you have the money, it's worth it. read more

Crosby's Kitchen is a great addition to the strip of restaurants and bars on Southport. It's a bit more upscale than some of the restaurants, but still casual and comfy. I've been to Crosby's once for brunch and twice for dinner and everything I've eaten has been delicious. In full disclosure, I had the same sandwich on two visits, but it was so delicious, I couldn't resist! The staff is friendly, there is a nice selection of different menu options and all in all, it's a pretty good value. Definitely worth a visit and the patio is also a great spot to sit and relax when the weather is nice. read more

Crosby's is always great! We came here for dinner when we were trying to be healthy lol. They were so accommodating by substituting broccoli for chips with the spinach and artichoke dip, and when we shared our white fish entree they split it for us! So considerate. The lobster deviled eggs are my favorite thing ever!! They even added an extra one for us so we could have 2 each. Lovely experience here! I'll be back! read more

It was perfect. Welcoming. Entertaining by the bartender. Delicious food. Comfortable. Right up our alley.

Came for Saturday brunch at this spacious, quaint restaurant. It was fairly packed with Southporters (girlz and families mainly). My favorite two things I had here were the blood mary and the special that day, the monkey bread. The blood mary was dreamy because it came with a thick fatty piece of bacon, a skewer of cherry tomato, salami, pickle, and green olive. BUT, above all, it came with a little baby sidecar of Miller. That is what every bloody mary should aspire to when they grow up. For the meal, I had the goat cheese veggie omelette. It was ok. Also chose potatoes as a side. At Crosby, their potatoes are made kind of like creamy rosemary hashbrown casserole. Also, on another potato related note, one of the sides options are also these fried bacon potato pancakes (shaped like hockey pucks). I tried a friend's and they were pretty tasty. Great option for brunch if you're in the area! read more

Such a disappointment. I was so looking forward to having a cozy dinner with my love. The place was decorated nicely and the fireplace was lit but that's where the fond memories ended. Despite multiple tables being vacant, we waited in the bar for 30 minutes. At first there was no bartender to be seen. When she finally did return, she paid no attention to the new patrons who had come to the bar to wait. She was a pro at averting eye contact and her customer service approach was abysmal. When we were seated, we ordered our long-anticipated skillet cornbread with whipped butter and it did not disappoint. The chicken and biscuits however was nearly inedible. Five bites of chicken - each filled with gristle and tendons. Yuck! What a way to ruin comfort food. Sadly, we won't be back. There are too many good restaurants in this area with much better customer service and food. read more

I was interested in trying this restaurant because it seemed to have a lot of items that I can eat given my dietary restrictions. However, my daughter said some friends hers mentioned the food was spicy. There are no menu items listed as spicy, so I called the restaurant. They were not helpful, and refused to give me a copy of their menu listing the actual ingredients. The few items I asked about had cayenne pepper, which neither I nor my daughter can eat. Yet another restaurant I am blacklisting for unlisted ingredients on a menu. read more

First time here, husband found this place while working. And having been meaning to check this place out. So glad we finally did! The food, service and ambience were great! Good food and variety. Something for everyone when you're eating out with a group. Three more characters...done!

My boyfriend and I decided to eat here as we wanted to visit the Southport Corridor. Chloe and Crystal were amazing. The issue came in when two women were gawking at us bc we had an empty seat next to us. Rather than asking us for the seat these women kept gawking at us and then started talking about us. Now my boyfriend and I were almost done eating, literally, and these two women would not stop staring and they continued to talk about us. They finally asked to come and get the extra chair but still continued to talk. My boyfriend and I decided to get our check and leave. The manager finally came over and "walked us out" even though we did nothing wrong. Even though the manager said "sorry", we shouldn't have been the ones "escorted out". The food and service were good, but I would not come back here due to the treatment by the manager. read more

I love crosby's. The first time I went I ordered a salad and some very yummy drinks. The second time, I was blown away by the Brussel sprouts, which were the seasonal veggie. They had some sort of maple bacon glaze on them, and they were out of this world. The salad was so good and the chicken sandwich we ordered (as they're known for their chicken), was great! We finished It up with a cookie skillet which was TO DIE FOR. this place is hard to pass by when walking home cause It always smells so good, and I can attest that the food lives up to the smell read more

I love Crosby's! It's family friendly and has great staff. Very cozy and delicious food.

Tasty, delicious, and not too pricey. We came here with friends when we found out the wait at Corridor would be more than 2 hours. This space is more of a family type restaurant, but the food was good and they serve booze so it's all good. We had the lobster deviled eggs, Wrightwood salad, and chicken and biscuits. So delicious! Family friendly, solid and consistently good food. Great location so even if there's a wait there's shopping and a playground near.

Who doesn't love brunch and your neighborhood Crosby? The wait staff is really friendly and split our plates rather than us sharing off each other. If you're in the mood for lunch over brunch, your options are limited to burgers or a sandwich. We did love our Wrightwood Salad and the portion was perfect sharing. with our chicken sandwich. Be prepared to wait a bit for a seat, but on the bright side, you can call ahead and make a reservation. read more
