This was our third visit to this dentist office and I can confidently say I'm glad we found this office. The dental hygienists as well as the dentists here are very friendly and have been great with my kids. There is even a tv in each exam room to keep the children occupied if the visit makes them a little nervous or bored. This office is pretty big and quite modern. Everything is clean and spacious and I just really feel welcome when we come here. This is a great place to come if you are the type, like me, who hates or is scared of the dentist definitely recommend this dentist to anyone who needs work done or just a simple cleaning. read more

Never have I felt more comfortable at a dentist! Everyone there is so knowledgeable and treats you like a person. I had mentioned that I had an anxiety disorder when I arrived, and my hygienist and the doctor explained everything to me on a basic level, told me about the process and the instruments involved and let me ask as many questions as I needed. Everyone was so warm and friendly, nothing like my previous dentist. The office is also beautiful and everything is super modern and up to date with the newest technology. I called them today asking for an appointment to do a crown. Which they referred me to endodontis for evaluation I have heard that I called before and told them I do not want to visit them anymore. Not great customer service in my opinion. It is very hard to make an appointment as well. Long wait times. read more

I never write reviews but I am compelled to this time. I have been going to Cromwell Dental for over 5 years. Over the course of 5 years I have missed 3 appointments. One was my fault because i simply forgot. That was about a year and a half ago. The next appointment was missed because I received a text message from the office asking if I can make the appointment and I texted back no. Apparently, they did not receive it. Once they called to ask if I'd like to reschedule, I informed them that I had texted "no" to the appointment and they said, "no problem, it happens sometimes with that system". The final time happened about a month ago, I was rescheduled the day of by Cromwell dental because we had a snow storm and they were opening late. They asked if I can move my appointment to the afternoon and i said I would do my best to make it but it would depend on if my sons school decided to cancel. I live in Essex so it is not a shot drive for me. My sons school ended up closing for the day. I forgot that they had rescheduled my appointment. A couple weeks ago, I receive a certified letter in the mail from them. I have attached it here. Dr. Scull has been seeing myself as well as my Son for quite some time and this passive aggressive letter really speaks to what is most important for this practice. When I spoke to them on the phone regarding this matter and explained the instances, they acknowledged that what I was saying was accurate but apparently, their time as more valuable than their patients time. They said that they require 48 hours' notice for changes or cancellations though I suppose it's OK for them to change/cancel appointments same day if it suits them. If you value your time and your families time, stay away from this dentist. They care about the money only and very little about the patient. Read the other reviews and this is a pattern, not an isolated instance. I have a family of 5 and I have a very demanding job and sometimes, appointments slip through the crack but I have never been made to feel like I am untrustworthy or less than someone until I received this letter from Cromwell Dental. Please look elsewhere if you have a family because this dentist does not care one bit. read more

New to the area thought I would stay with a local business so I did not have to travel to get my teeth maintenance. First visit, I complained my teeth were hurting recommendation was "deep cleaning" paid done...still have pain, well now it's XXX tooth (root canal) paid done...still have pain. I am not going write a long letter of all the missed communication and poor customer service but every time I had an appointment it cost me a lot more than was quoted and they have a funny way of explaining why I need something without getting authorization from me. Anyways, 6-8 visits and roughly $4500 dollars later I still have tooth pain! Thanks for nothing, money hungry business. read more

I've debated whether or not to write a review because the staff and the doctor are very nice people, and for general dentistry, I think the practice great. However, this review is for cosmetic dentistry. If you do not want to read the long review below, here is a summary: do not come here for cosmetic dentistry. I had a crown and a veneer replaced on my front two teeth. I also had a crown put on my back tooth (after a root canal). I will start with the crown on the back tooth. During my initial visit, my new dentist suggested the crown be replaced. She could not believe the crown was only a year old. My biggest issue with the tooth is the shape. I think the dental hygienist I had was new because she took the impression with a temporary tooth on that she made. The temporary tooth did not even have any of the indents that a normal tooth would have, so the resulting crown does not even closely resemble a real tooth. I would also like to add that it took longer than normal for the back tooth to come from the lab. Now I will move onto the two front teeth. I broke my two front teeth as a child and that is why I have the veneer and the crown. The work on these teeth is the most disappointing because they are extremely visible. First, the crown was made with a slight dip at the top where the tooth meets the gum. As a result, my gum has dropped down over the tooth. My current dentist tells me that I will need to have the gum cut (I believe with a laser), if I was to fix the dip, and then I will have to have a new crown made. I do not recall any issues with my gums before the crown. The veneer had its only set of problems. The first veneer that they put on cracked (which was the lab's fault, not the dentist). Then I repeated had issues with matching the color of the veneer. I understand the process of matching the the color can take a few trips, but the color still is not correct. My veneer is slightly darker than the crown and the surrounding teeth (others have pointed it out to me, which is upsetting). I will acknowledge that I did agree to have the teeth cemented. I was hesitant, but everyone was saying that they looked fine. So, the office is not to blame, as I did give them the ok. However, I did call the office afterwards, and discuss with the office manager my concerns, and she had me come in (that is when we discovered the cracked veneer). After the replacement for the cracked veneer came back, I agreed to the cementing just to get the process over with. At that point I was 6-7 months into the process, I had moved cities and was dealing with the stressed of a new job. But, I think it is important to acknowledge that I did agree to the cementing. My insurance covered most of the veneer and the crown, but now to replace them, I will have to pay out of pocket because my insurance will only cover crowns and veneers every five years. Replacing the veneer and the crown is extremely expensive (especially in NYC). However, I am getting married in the fall, so I will likely shell out the funds to fix my smile. I just switched from another office that I wasn't thrilled with and happy to say it was a great move. The initial consultation is thorough and impressive, and really the first time an office has explained my teeth to me. The xrays are extensive but certainly show everything and of course they dont need to be taken every visit. No pressure to do or not to do any recommendations they make. The cleaning afterwards was probably one of the best I ever had, non-invasive and my mouth didn't hurt afterwards and felt great. Def. up with all the modern technology and the entire staff was helpful and wonderful. As most people do, we all hate to go to the dentist but I really felt comfortable. I've been going to Cromwell Dental for ten years. The entire staff is really nice and always there to help. Recently Dr. Furino and Assistant Angela did a root canal on an upper tooth. Dr. Furino is skillful and careful on doing the work. I am always glad to be scheduled with Dr. Furino because everything goes clockwork. A while back Dr. Furino and a team of Assistants worked up a new cap for me, they do nice work and a lot goes into every appointment. read more

My husband and I have been going to Cromwell Dental for a few years now, and I have always been incredibly impressed with their service, new technology and up-to-date methods, but they went above and beyond last week when my veneer popped off and they were able to fit me in same day TWICE. My veneer popped off on a Sunday after only a month of being on, and Monday morning I called to ask what to do- they fit me in that day, telling me it may take a bit to get me in but to come anyways (I only sat for 3 minutes waiting). The veneer popped off again later that day, so I had to come back in and they fit me in AGAIN and said this wasn't my fault, there must be a superficial micro tear in it. They fit me for a crown instead, charged me nothing for any of it, and got me the new crown by the next week. I had to present at a conference the day after this all took place and they made sure that I was comfortable and fit for everything I would need with the temporary. I am not usually a person who leaves reviews, but this was such extraordinary service that I needed to add it for Cromwell Dental! read more

Beyond a five star experience!!! Like a Disneyland spa of Dentistry. The facility with an onsite lab, felt more like a warm and inviting high end home than a dental office, with a friendly reception area (with fireplace and comfy leather couches). Everyone seems to LOVE their job and their team members, and my visit started out with a personal tour with a coffee/tea/cookie option. Zero wait time and everyone introduced themselves and any following assistant/hygienist/doctor. Each room had a tv and window in front of its chair and each step of the process throughout, was very clearly explained before any approach was made. They have the latest high tech handheld devices from lasers, Xray, cancer detectors, two different oral cameras, sonic cleaners etc.. During the exam they speak to you not just around you. Afterwards, you are taken in another room to review/evaluate your specific issues/visit or ask any questions which ended with a very large goody bag and an edible treat. Beyond professional, meticulous, informative and welcoming. I was completely at ease throughout the entire process. BEST ever dental experience, wow. Kudos! First, let me say this Dental organization came highly recommended. I went to have my front tooth fixed and they did an excellent job. Pricey, but very good. As a result I decided to switch dentists. I had a 'first time customer' visit. I do not have insurance. That's okay. When I'm prepared to pay a bill and told up front what something will cost it's not an issue. However, they have a very interesting approach. You don't know what things will cost when you go and make this first visit. Then you are hit up with a 'thorough' work up which ended up costing me hundreds and hundreds of dollars. And my teeth had no issues which needed attending because I just had everything attended to six months prior. I was also told they couldn't do a regular cleaning, I needed a debridement (an extra $100). Even the hygenist gave a quizzical look when I asked if I really needed a 'deep cleaning'. Ok. I paid it but because that was the only cleaning they would do under 'their protocol'. I made it clear that they should not sandbag people on costs and let them know up front, not while they are in the dentist's chair. What is more disturbing than anything else, however, is their attitude that if you don't like the way they do business..their words, then maybe 'we're not the right dentist for you'. I told them I don't choose to have X-rays every year because 1) it's not necessary and 2) I have an issue with unneccessary radiation. I was told, again, that this is their protocol and if I don't like it, 'Maybe we're not the right dentist for you.' This happens if you question them at all. So, okay, I paid the hefty bill because I have no questions about their competence. They are good at what they do. I made my appointment for my cleaning. I just asked for a cleaning and was quoted the price. I agreed. When I came for the cleaning, everything was lovely and my teeth were immaculate and the hygienist said, the doctor will be right in. I didn't think anything of. She took five minutes to check my mouth. All fine. Now my bill jumped $70. Again, I was very clear before I made the appointment I needed to know what the cost is. Oh, just sandbagged, again. This is protocol. When I was upset, they ultimately waived the Dr's fee of $70 and the bill was paid. Today, as I was expecting, (and I had already made arrangements to go to a holistic dentist for my next cleaning and removal of my mercury fillings), I get a letter telling me that, 'We're not the right dentist for you'. Surprise. I've never ever had issues with doctors or dentists. They are an important relationship and partnership for one's health and well-being. What I found at Cromwell Dental is their is a strong disconnect between the dentists' competencies and their 'financial' office. They are not as good at communicating as they'd like to believe. They are inordinately rigid in their attitude towards their patients: what they believe is proper versus the reality of client's needs and lives. They almost have a Stepford Wive's feeling about their protocols to the point of condescension. I have no doubt they make a lot of money for their dentists, but there is much room for improvement when dealing with patients. read more

I had made an appointment but came down with a terrible flu the day of. Felt terrible about not giving proper notice to cancel but I called anyway to say I wouldn't be able to make it. They refused to reschedule my appointment because I'm a "first time customer and they reserved the time especially for me" and I had to give them two business days of notice to cancel. Especially for me? It's your job to reserve times and to bring in new clientele. It's ridiculous, and white frankly rude, that a business would turn away potential customers. I heard great things but that doesn't even matter anymore because I'll never be able to go to this office. I've never heard of such poor customer service policies. read more

Have used Cromwell dental for 2 years, never had an issue with the dental staff but have had numerous issues with the billing department. First was over billed $500, was never informed, happened to notice a negative balance on my account months later and then had to hound them to issue me a refund. Secondly my husband showed up for his scheduled cleaning a few weeks back and was informed they didn't have his appointment on file and that we had an outstanding balance. I informed the office we wouldn't be making any further payments (due to the issues that occurred with the first over-payment) until I was sent an explanation with a breakdown of what was submitted to insurance and what they covered. I have still never received a piece of mail from this office or a phone call regarding this matter but was sent to a collection agency over $100. Just today I attempted to speak to the account manager, Carol, who had absolutely zero concern for the mishandling of our account.
