Just ok Menu is very exciting at first glance, but at second glance (and experience) is actually quite gimmicky, especially when they seem to have trouble executing on the basics. Home fries are always burnt (sometimes layered with black char.. across many dishes). Eggs are usually bland. Lattes taste like they came from a cheep espresso machine using powdered espresso and way too much milk. Kielbasa tastes like a big hotdog. Service tends to vary. All that said, if you come expecting a basic diner breakfast with a few different options then it's probably fine if you're willing to pay a few extra dollars for it. Not a fan, but haven't found much better around in this category. read more

I have eaten at this restaurant for many years every time we visit our son. Today I was extreme disappointed! My granddaughters wanted mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they tasted like they were just thawed out not cooked at all. The cheese inside was cold and solid. Someone else ordered a peach pancake that came with a few scarce pieces of peach in the middle. My selection was French onion soup. Although the broth was very tasty, they just dumped a bunch of cheese in the hot soup to melt and did not bake it in the oven, they just torched it on top, so the cheese had a. Burned flavor rather than the nice buttery flavor the topping gets when. Properly baked in the oven. All in all a bad experience, so much so that it will keep me from going back. read more

Nice casual atmosphere with amazing pancake menu. Pumpkin apple were moist and delish. Friendly wait staff made us feel welcome.

If you are looking for casual, at home, comfort food... this is the spot. Nothing fancy, just simple, good food!

I went for breakfast this morning with my sister and her boyfriend. Food was not good ,coffee was not good either Christine our wairtess was rude. I'll make this short we won't ever go back . read more

I've been here several times and I don't understand why they have good reviews and are always busy. Breakfast is always mediocre nothing special. The staff always seems miserable, they never come back to the table for refills and drop off the check before you even receive your food. read more

Not happy after our recent meal at Cristy's. The place was once a good restaurant but appears to have settled into serving over-priced, below average meals. Eggs were over-cooked. Coffee was fair. Toast was cold. Table was a mess when we were seated. No thank you. I can make a better breakfast at home. read more

My family loves this place. My wife typically gets two poached eggs with corned beef hash and toast. My kids ADORE the chocolate chip pancakes, which are twice as big as their heads and much airy-er, luckily. I get the oatmeal with a side of macadamia nuts, strawberries and blueberries. Wow. It is all amazing. Never dissatisfied with the service. Expect a wait on weekend mornings, a sign of good place on the shoreline. Ignore the 2-starrers. Not on target at all. read more

The food comes fast and is really good. Awesome pancakes!! Open for breakfast and lunch. read more

Cristy's - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Westbrook, Connecticut

We went to Water's Edge Resort for our mini-moon, and were not impressed with their food. Luckily, someone recommended we go to Cristy's for breakfast! We went there both days and had Ana as our server both times. Ana was friendly and welcoming, and the food (especially pumpkin pancakes and corned beef hash) was incredible! The value was also great. We just wish there were a Cristy's in NYC so we could go all the time! read more

Every time I come here it takes at least 10 minutes until a server takes my drink order. The food is good but the service is soooo slow. Don't go if you want a quick bite because you won't be out of here for well over an hour read more

Be prepared at how busy this place is, and with good reason...the food is AMAZING. The hollandaise sauce / eggs Benedict were perfectly prepared, corned beef hash were also perfect! Fresh raspberry pancakes...also off the chain delish. Highly recommend Cristy's!!! read more

Best place around for breakfast. The best thing is there pancakes. The place is small and super busy so either get there early or be prepared to wait in line, it's worth the wait though. read more

One of the best breakfast experiences in the state. This restaurant screams quintessential Americana. The food is beyond delicious, but along with it is the warm hospitality, Uber generous portions and a smiling staff. This restaurant has something for everyone. Highly recommended! read more

Eggs benedict and pancakes were fantastic! They did a great job being thoughtful with COVID precautions.

Great restaurant, however we waited for more than an hour (or 2) to even get food in our mouths. It's better to come early morning like 8am instead of the rush. read more

If you love breakfast (especially pancakes and eggs) this place is for you! Get there early because a line was starting to lengthen around 9:30 am. We came just after 8:30 and had a party of 4. At that time, some tables were wrapping up breakfast, but there were plenty of seats open. By looking a previous reviews, pictures, and the menu, they are known for pancakes. With many diners and options in the area something has to make you stand out from the competition. They have over 40 different types of gigantic pancakes so no matter your taste preference, you will find something tasty to start your day. The pancakes looked really good, and I will have to come back to them some time because today I had 2 eggs over easy. The eggs were cooked well -a little too hard for my liking, but I could have been more specific when ordering. The home fries were a little bland, but had that grilled crunchy crust and soft potatoes. There was a coffee carafe on the table, which made refills a breeze. A solid breakfast for a price you would expect. My wife had eggs too and she says, "Get the pancakes!" read more

The best that's it just the best. Great food great service really cute atmosphere. Don't miss this place if you're in the area can't say enough good things about it. Go there hungry portions are very large food is absolutely delicious. read more

I normally enjoy eating here. Today the food was not good. I am happy I ordered one piece of French toast. If I would have ordered two I would have been very disappointed. It just tasted like eggy bread. No cinnamon or nutmeg or vanilla. Just a piece of bread dipped into scrambled eggs. The hash was extremely salty. On the other hand I do like the waitstaff. My waitress came over promptly. Asked me what I wanted to eat, took my order without writing it down and got it perfect. read more

Great breakfast on the Shoreline ... the ONLY problem here is that the line for a table gets incredibly long, especially during the summer. Since we live in town we reserve out Christys visits for after the beach crowd does down a bit. Pancakes are massive here & the servings of scrambled eggs are just as large. Definitely a popular spot! read more

This place is great! Find myself stopping in often. My favorites are anything breakfast and their clam chowder! The only bad thing I could say is their booths are extremely small and when you order a soup and a meal they tend to bring out everything at once. Sometimes makes for a cramped situation. Overall the food is worth over looking that. read more

Outdoor seating is available during COVID. Was very comfortable with good/attentive service. We ordered crunchy French toast, pancakes and eggs benedict. portion sizes are large so would be reasonable to split an order. Could tell hollandaise sauce was homemade. Potatoes were crispy, not soggy like diner's. Crunchy French toast was inspiring to the point that I'm looking up recipes so I can make at home. Was enjoyable, would go back. read more

Good food and fair prices. If you are a pancake fan this is the place to go. Huge variety for over sized pancakes. The service was OK, not bad but not great. The food was very good and prices well. I wasn't pleased with the line to wait. Have to squeeze through the dining room and stand in line waiting. I wish they would just put a "sign in" board or something like that instead of crowding in the back by the bathrooms. Since that's my only real complaint, I have to give them a good solid 4 stars. read more

Loved the space. Great music playing, phenomenal lighting, over abundance of creamers--we were in heaven. Came early on a Tuesday so no problem with service. Will definitely return. Hollandaise sauce tasted fresh but was not crazy about the home fries. Definitely quality potatoes but not soft enough. But potential best breakfast spot in area. read more

Cristy's - Belgian Waffle, California Benedict, and Raspberry Pancake. Very happy with our decisions. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Westbrook, Connecticut

If you love pancakes or corned beef hash - GO HERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! This place has about 30+ different types of pancakes and you can certainly customize them if they don't have exactly what you're looking for. The corned beef hash is probably the best I've ever had. It has chunks of corned beef with potatoes and herbs - but it's mostly corned beef. My fiance loves the Irish Benedict. The food here has set the breakfast bar very high for all the other places that we try. We will drive the hour there and the hour back just to get some delicious breakfast. Cristy's is rather small and the line forms pretty quickly so get there early or just anticipate to wait. Even if you wait, it'll be worth it! read more

Ordered Hash Eggs Benedict... got over poached eggs with cooked hard yolks and eye rolls from the staff when brought to their attention. Was rudely asked how I would like my eggs cooked.....how about the way they are supposed to be cooked??? Poached with runny yolk maybe?? You have served them before, no? We drove to Westbrook from Milford to have breakfast at Cristy's, unfortunately I lost my appetite due to the shitty attitude from the staff. How about next time Cristy's screws up an order just say sorry and take the poorly prepared plate back and re-do it without being a jerk?! Cancelled my order. Left hungry and disappointed. I am going to miss the corned beef hash but not going back anytime soon.....if ever . read more

What are you talking about? Christy's has the Best pancakes I've ever had in my life! When you order two eggs you get four! There is a wonderful abundance of butter and the home fries are home made! The waitstaff is pretty much the same as it's been forever. And the prices are still to die for. One plate sized pancake with two add ons for $2.50? Lighten up lady. read more

Lauren H. needs to take her prozac and go to bed. CRISTY'S IS AWESOME. Quite frankly, I've never found a better place for pancakes anywhere; they're terrific. As for other breakfast items, you can definitely order one and split it, they're all large. The quality of all the items are terrific too... great omelets, great eggs, sausage, ham, coffee, etc... Eggs Benedict? I'm sure not every dish here is awesome, frankly, as its merely a high powered "luncheonette". Wouldn't order duck a l'orange, would you? BUT, for simple eggs, omelets, and the shoreline's greatest pancakes, this IS the place to go. Its a joke. Every year CT magazine rates the restaurant in Old Saybrook as having great breakfast, and this nondescript place is 10 minutes away and heads and shoulders above it... guess there's no accounting for tastes. One word of caution: be prepared to wait on the weekends, especially in the summer. As to all the other reviewers, why the heck do you think there's such a long wait? Check it out. read more

Good breakfast and sandwich place. Very generous portions. We had the Reuben, chicken wrap and pancakes at our table. Everything was excellent. Service was very good. Atmosphere was a mom and pop's type of place. Convenient location on Rte 1 with plenty of parking. read more

Are you kiding? Now don't get me worng I miss Sal and John, staples of Cristys, and if you frequent there you will still see Sal sitting at the counter from time to time. Yankee's memorabella, I don't miss it, although it did give it some character. Things change, owners change and styles change, but the food is still good, it's still cheap, and falling off the plate. The new owners have changed and upscaled the restaurant a bit, but the assertation that they a catering to the summer people is outrageous. Since they have taken over they have expanded the hours, and the menu, even in the winter. BRAVO Cristys, you are still a Westbrook Institution, just the next generation. read more

I've been eating at Cristy's since I was a kid and I make it a point to visit whenever I'm in town. I always tell people that these are the best pancakes in the world, and it's true! I've never had a better pancake. There are over 38 varieties of pancakes you can order. My favorites are Pumpkin Apple and Blueberry Oatmeal Crunch, but the Reese's Pieces pancake is always a must-order. If calories didn't exist, I would want these for every meal. Cristy's will always be a place to bring people to have the best pancakes in the world! read more

Cristy's - Clockwise from top: Raspberry Oatmeal Crunch, Blueberry Oatmeal Crunch, and Reese's Pieces pancakes (all with butter on the side). - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Westbrook, Connecticut

Very busy, had the corned beef hash but had to get one of their specialty pancakes. Food was excellent. server was a little slow coming to the table but I was FLOORED when waiting in line to pay, another waitress came along and took the checks and ccards of the people behind me and started running them through the machine ahead of me! read more

The pancakes were amazing - easily some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant with that good old home cooking taste - fluffy, chewy and sweet (Apple oatmeal and banana crunch)... And that's where the positives about this place end. SO ordered an omelet with home fries: the omelet was cooked so thin we though it must have taken a frying pan the size of an entire stove top to cook it, leaving very little flavor to the eggs. The ingredients inside did not add much flavor either. The home fries were unevenly cut, making some pieces burnt to a crisp and others nearly raw. They also lacked basic flavorings such as salt and pepper. The service was pretty lackluster as well - waitress forgot the home fries and when we asked about them, her reply was 'did you want those?'... well, 1. They came with the omelet and 2. we ordered them, so YES, we wanted them. She never refilled our water or asked how our meal was, ect. The interior just appears to be falling apart with benches with no cushions, peeling walls and a filthy ladies room. read more

Standard dinner food with misleading pricing and slow internet service I ordered a mushroom omelet, which came with toast and home fries. It was acceptable, no complaints, though I would not make the drive to eat them again. I also had a cup of coffee. It was good and the wait staff were good about making sure It was filled. The price of the omelet was misleading. I ordered a mushroom omelet for $6.45 when I asked why my bill listed the omelet as $7.45, I was informed cheese was a dollar extra. The menu does not indicate that there is an upcharge for cheese. I went to the dinner as I had a meeting in town, I tried to use my phone to catch up on some work, but the internet was slow, and there is no wi-fi. read more

Went at 10am on a Saturday and just avoided the rush. The service was pretty good, and the pancake selection is downright ridiculous. I couldn't decide what to try, so I just went for them all: pumpkin apple, raspberry-blueberry, and chocolate chip strawberry. They were all great in different ways: pumpkin apple was dense and full of flavor, the berry pancake was light and fluffy, and the chocolate strawberry was nice and sweet without overdoing it. I can't wait to come back and sample more. One minor complaint, the butter is already melted onto the pancakes instead of a pat, so it's not exactly optional. Delicious, but not the healthiest. read more

For the love of Sweet Dear Lord baby Jesus! Great food! The waffle with strawberries and whipped cream were life! The corned beef hash was beyond mere words. I can't say anymore. Just go and go hungry. I'm going back with the fellas and I'm wearing my eating pants when I go! read more

First visit today and I can see what the hype is. This place is always busy at breakfast so we decided to check it out. I had a gingerbread latte that was served with a chocolate dipped piece of biscotti. Nice touch, and delicious! I should have read the reviews because I didn't stop my husband from ordering 3 pancakes, and an egg on the side. Holy huge pancakes batman. What is better is that they were perfectly fluffy, and cooked through. The maple butter on top with powdered sugar is just the write amount of sweetness. I ordered 2 eggs with corn beef hash. Next to a favorite place in Vermont this place is officially number 2 with hash. They use real corn beef, no canned crap here. It tasted so fresh, with just the right amount of seasoning. Also, our waitress was great. She checked on us every so often, always had a smile on her face. Its exactly the type of service you want when you go out. We also got the lucks draw by sitting near the fireplace. With these negative wind chills it was MORE than welcome. We will definitely be returning. read more

The food is good, not amazing, but respectable. The prices are higher than the decor and the wait would suggest. The wait can be long even at strange times like Tuesday at 10:30. Ive been several times and I keep giving them more chances, but I think yesterday put me overboard... I'd rather cook at home and have to clean up than go there again. We waited a long time (30 minutes) to be seated, then about 20 minutes before a waitress could come for our order and at least 30 more minutes for our food. The owner came over and argued with us when I said I could see all the orders piled up under the hot light and them clearly unsure who gets what. The waitress was as sweet as can be apologizing without qualifications so I gave her a nice tip but she couldn't take the check, I had to go to the register where again the wait was ridiculous. read more

To start off, the clam chowder was salty and the pork loin was tough and salty too. The service was poor, due to the fact that the waitresses do not bring out the food right away. The food just sits under the heating lamp. I rather go to Dennys. read more

We used to come here 2-3x per month for breakfast. Lately, having a large portion of below average food is no longer appealing. Their food has gone down in quality- maybe due to a new chef or with the massive amounts of people that go in and out there is no time to pay attention to details. This applies to the service too. The waitstaff seem literally frazzled and offer little attention. They visit to take your order and bring your order and you will need to flag them down for the check, condiments, or coffee refills. The seating is awful. Always a long line and always a dirty table. People actually argue for a table since it is seat yourself- they'll insist they were there first- maybe, maybe not- since there are too many people inside to tell. The parking is horrible! The prices are reasonable. Their gourmet coffees are great. Sad to see my favorite omelet no longer tasting the same and their famous pancakes have become thin and sloppy. The place needs a deep cleaning and perhaps reorganization to get it back to where it was - although I am sure the owner won't mind such reviews because people keep coming despite these recent observations. I likely paid them my last visit which is sad because there are so few breakfast spots in the area. read more
