Saturday night on the shoreline usually means long waits, crowded lobbies, and hungry…read moredisappointment... but not at J&M Dockside. After being turned away from Aqua (one hour wait and no option for a reservation) and prepping ourselves for the usual hike to Shanks, we stumbled across this spot, and honestly, what a win. There was no line, no wait, and plenty of open tables right by the dock. Everyone was posted up with drinks in hand, and since it's BYOB, the vibe was relaxed and personal, like a backyard party with waterfront views. We grabbed a seat and were helped quickly by a super friendly staff. The energy was low key in the best way. The food surprised us in all the right ways. I started with the clam chowder, which was a little salty, but still really good: thick, creamy, and satisfying. My friend ordered the salmon sandwich, and we both agreed it was excellent. The fish was fresh, flaky, and seasoned well, served on a soft bun that held up perfectly. The chicken tenders, turned out to be real cuts of chicken, not the frozen kind, which made a big difference. The sweet potato fries were crisp, hot, and the perfect side. We had a great time without any of the stress that usually comes with trying to eat out on a summer Saturday night. Fast service, good food, friendly people, and no wait? That's rare on the shoreline. I'll absolutely be back, and next time I'm bringing my own bottle of rose too.

The lobster roll from J & M was much better and came with fries that were seasoned with some magical ingredients. Oh and the side of slaw that accompanied was superb. Do not miss this hidden gem. Fairfield county people please patronize chef Mike at J & M Dockside. Check out his specials too. He opens for breakfast as well. Can't wait to return. Well done Mike.

It's definitely a little more expensive than some of the other lobster spots we tried, but I honestly liked the food here the most. The lobster meat is lightly seasoned with what tasted like butter and lemon, and it all worked perfectly together without overpowering the lobster. The bun was incredibly soft and loaded with so much meat that it was practically falling apart in the middle. We got the half-pound lobster roll both times and would absolutely order it again, but it is $60. The clam chowder was also excellent. It's creamy without being too thick, and you can really taste all the ingredients. The hot dogs seem to be really popular -- almost everyone was ordering a lobster roll and a hot dog combo. My son loved them so much he had two the first visit! The outdoor seating and water views make it such a relaxing place to sit and eat, and there's also a market on-site where you can buy lobster and shellfish. Definitely one of our favorite stops and somewhere we'd happily return to.

There was not much lobster meat and what we did get was shredded?? Also why have none of the reviews mentioned it is Porto-potty only for bathrooms. . Tables aren't wiped down and the one actual sink for washing hands was out of soap. My real score is a 2.5 but rounding up because staff were friendly, the food came out quickly and the water view was nice.
