Consistently good-to-great breakfasts at ridiculously cheap prices. I've been here many times, and the food is always consistently delicious, and very high quality. I love this place. It's a great establishment, and it is busy for a reason. The people who work here work their butts off.
The omelets are big and fluffy, prepared with fresh ingredients. The service is friendly, even during a rush. It gets really busy here, but you get your coffee immediately and the food comes out quickly.
The lunch items are good, too. We've had sandwiches, and they were fresh, good quality, and HUGE, as usual with this place. You can definitely get 2 meals out of most of their menu items. The potato salad is super, by the way.
The portions here are ridiculously enormous, and the prices cannot be beat. I actually ask for a half-portion (at the same cost) because I just hate to waste so much food. You can definitely share the omelets between two people.
One annoying feature: It is difficult to find parking when it gets busy. I try to go here before or after the mid-morning rush.
I've never had their dinner or entree menu items, so I can't comment on those. While lunch here is good, the breakfast is really where it's at.
There were a few poor reviews that seemed oddly (and unfairly) negative to me. A few points in response:
The pancakes are ridiculously delicious here, and they have sooo many fantastic choices. You have the option of buying real maple syrup, which I always do. It does come with a giant dollop of butter on top, so if you don't want that make sure you tell your server. The pancakes ARE NOT greasy. Not at all. They are enormous, fluffy and soft. In fact, I have never ever had any greasy food here.
We've made changes to orders many times - altered the ingredients, asked to make it low fat, with no butter, a different side dish or omitted something - and it always comes out the way it was ordered. Cristy's waitresses and kitchen staff have always been gracious and efficient about this.
I've eaten here many times, when business is slow and when there is a long line to get in, and the place is always kept clean. Those bathrooms are new, and very clean. This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering how busy it gets.
There is no issue with refills with coffee, because it comes in a big pitcher for you to fill at your leisure. Other drinks come in giant cups, so again, refills really aren't an issue. The condiments are kept at your table, lots of choices, so again there really isn't an issue with this kind of stuff.
When it is busy, yes, you may have to flag down your server, that's true. But I think it is unreasonable to think this wouldn't happen when the restaurant gets as busy as it does. You have to have some patience when you go to a popular diner on busy mornings. If you want the place to yourself, you have to go at an off time. The restaurant staff are experienced and well-trained, not superheroes. read more
