I got the chocolate Dubai cone and it was so good, that I came back the next day for one. Cones are made right before your eyes. A yummy croissant style cone with crystallized sugars on the outside. They then shmear the inside with sauce, dip the cone top in crunchy Dubai topping, then fill the cone with ice cream. Top that with pistachios, drizzled chocolate syrup and Dubai sauce. This is such a cool idea! The service was great, the young man and woman working the counter were so friendly and working so hard. Was nice to be able to order yourself on the touch screen, which is what we did. But looked like you could also order through the counter. So cool to be able to watch them make your cone, very creative. I would go back just for the experience but personally, wasn't a HUGE fan of the actual crispy cone. 2.5 stars I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. So I took my mom here and it was a big miss for all of us. I don't think this place is for me. It's just regular soft serve ice cream. The big thing is their cones. Which were ok. You pay extra for add on's. Which is ok. But you can count how many bananas and strawberries you got. Which is crazy. The ordering is very confusing. What a unique dessert experience in Carlsbad ! Service was quick, considering how long the line was. You place your order at the kiosk and wait near the entrance for your name to be called. The soft serve is delicious and complements the sugared dough cone perfectly. It gets a little drippy and can be a challenge to eat, but the plastic cup it's served in helps catch escaped toppings and melted soft serve that drips out of the bottom of the baked cone. Unfortunately, there isn't seating, aside for a bench in front, and this really is a treat that is best enjoyed while sitting down (especially since it can be quite messy!). Saw this place posted all over Instagram and tik tok so I decided to try it out. I was quite shocked at the prices of the items here. The crispy cone - what this place is known for - goes for $10. It is a unique product of the store but I wasn't expecting this price. I personally don't think this food item has very good value. The crispy cone altogether was large in portion size but the soft serve was nothing to write home about. It is less creamy than Costco soft serve for context (and you get less than Costco as well). The cone itself was tasty but nothing particularly special and I wish the cone would've been flakier. I think grabbing some ice cream and a churro at a local spot would be a delicious cheaper alternative. The toppings were just standard ice cream shop toppings. I felt like they did skimp a little bit on the toppings which can be seen in the photos. The employees were nice. It took a while for each item to be made probably because each crispy cone requires a lot of assembly. I do also wish that there was a space inside or outside to sit and enjoy the treat but it's more like a grab and go type of place. Sure, it's a bit pricier than your basic ice cream shop, but this place is in a whole different league. We went to Crispy Cones this evening. Probably won't go back. The ice cream is good, but you can get good ice cream at lower prices at places that are better at operations. The ordering process is much too complex. The place is too small. The cone that you are handed comes in a plastic cup inside a paper cup, but unless you brought your own spoon, you aren't going to be able to taste the cone until you have eaten 80% of the ice cream while 10% stays behind in the cone and 10% lands on your clothing. Everybody around me was looking for some way to wash their hands after eating half of their cone. And I wasn't the only customer who kept getting ice cream on his nose. I was intrigued by watching them cook the cones to order. But it made me wish I could have tasted the cone at the beginning and not the end of my attempt to eat it. If I go back, I will bring 3 things with me: a large paper cup into which I can dump most of the ice cream while digging down to the cone, a spoon to eat it with, and a bottle of water to get the sticky goo off my hands afterwards. There is a dispenser filled with low-quality napkins right inside the door; if you take about 20 of them and have a bottle of water you can probably get your hands and face clean. The door opens inwards, which ought to be a fire code violation, but at least you can get to the napkin dispenser without your sticky hands messing up the doorknob. read more

My sister said we should check out this new place. So we stood in a long line for about 30 minutes. They actually opened the night before hence the long line. Parking is crazy cause it's right off Carlsbad Blvd. If you are with someone have them get out and get in line. Small little spot nicely decorated in black and white and very clean. I saw the owner walking out on his phone and didn't want to bother him (so no pic of him). Inside one of the workers Nathan said hello to us and waved and we smiled and waved back. He said we were the first ones to smile and respond back. They open at noon and depending on the day close at 11pm or midnight. Once we got to the front of the line, the young lady greeted us and explained everything to us. I got a traditional pastry cone with just cinnamon and sugar, no spread, just vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and no toppings. You don't have to get spread, I thought it was to make sure your ice cream didn't go through the bottom of the cone. My sister got Berry Cheesecake (she liked hers) with a small amount of cheesecake. I thought the ice cream was great! The cone however I thought would be more like a churro or at least a donut but it was BLAND. I could see them throw cones away that were burnt, too hard or too doughy. Which is good because you want to give your best product to customers. My cone had no flavor in the dough (which had a little undercooked) and I couldn't taste the cinnamon and sugar or butter that was placed on the cone. For $5.69 and the wait in line it was ok. I could make the same thing at home for the price. Maybe that's why people get the spread and toppings to give the cone flavor. I came for the cone. If the cone was completely cooked and had flavor, I would say 5 stars and it would've been my new dessert spot. Unfortunately it only gets a 3.5 from me. It's worth a try though. We went to the opening and I have never had crispy cones from other locations and wasn't sure what to expect. The owner was very nice and explained the menu. We got a cookie à la mode crispy cones and a chocolate vanilla swirl crispy cone. It was really good! The flavor of the cone reminds me of a Cinnabon but less sugary. I think the crispy cone was bigger than expected for just me, so if I were getting it again I would probably share it with someone instead of getting my own.
