Didn't get the "airport theme" at first, but once you try the gelato you forget all about that. Long lines cause they let you try all the flavors! And you they sample all thier flavors with a small metal spoon. First comes the pallete cleanser (genious) then when you think you've made your decision, they have you try all the flavors( which honestly all are good). Staff was friendly and you can choose 2 diff flavors in your cup or waffle cone. Again the aiport theme, eh , seemed like waste of space for their "toast lounge" .they have a tribute to the Top Gun Movie. But overall the gelato is very tatsy! I went with the Pistachio Choc and Honey comb, choc. Both so good

    Decor is great (airport terminal).

This is the fourth Ans gelato shop and is located close to the pier. It took over from the place that served slices of pie. I mean, I like pie just fine, but at the beach? When it is 80 or 90 degrees out? No, thank you. This is also the so-called "Top Gun" house, if anyone remembers that movie. We waited in line for probably a half hour but there are several reasons for this: the place is new, it is summer, there were a million people at the beach, and, for now, when you finally get your turn at the front, they are giving you samples of EACH of the flavors on sale. So, you get a full demonstration, and lots to sample, when it is your turn at bat. They probably had seven or eight flavors for sale during our visit and I liked all of them and probably loved four or five of them. One of them had huge pieces of cornbread in it (it was delicious). Another had real pieces of cake in it (it was also delicious). And I really loved the Ho Chi Minh gelato with coffee and bananas. It was fantastic. It is a small shop but the decor is great. It is modeled after an airport terminal and the attention to detail is fantastic. Is Ans cheap? No, and if you find cheap gelato or cheap groceries or cheap gas anywhere right now, let me know. Is Ans worth it? Yes. The line will mellow down at some point so you decide if you want to wait in the long lines right now.

    Still here

Gelato steps from the beach! Yes please. Reasonably priced and super clean. Worth the wait jiar like it's other spots throughout San Diego County. Be patient. You'll get served quickly and with a smile. Be back soon.

Have been waiting for this place to open! I have been to a couple of their other locations, and knew something good was coming! You definitely should do the flavor tour! Basically you get to taste everything on the menu. I ended up getting the Visalia (pistachio & dark chocolate) and the Ho Chi Minh (banana & Vietnamese coffee). Those two flavors paired well! So, if you're in the area, step into the Top Gun House and find your flight!

Came to try their new location as I've been to the Del Mar and north park locations and always enjoyed it. Service was fast and friendly and the ice cream was good! I never order waffle cones but this place may have converted me. Good location to get ice cream and walk by the beach.

I have been a long time fan of An's Dry Cleaning and was in the area, so decided to check out this new location! They repurposed the iconic Top Gun house for their shop. The outside of the house is super cute and has a beautiful ocean view. The airport themed interior on the other hand is... interesting. However, the gelato flavors and service were wonderful! One of my favorite things about An's is the flavor tour they offer where they let you try all the flavors they have available and give a detailed description of what each one is and what ingredients they use. They had so many unique flavors, including the Charleston (honey butter cornbread) and Ho Chi Minh (banana Vietnamese coffee). My favorite flavor I tried today was the Visalia, which was their pistachio and chocolate flavor - they use a pistachio paste and it tasted just like the pistachio gelato I had every day in Italy! Would definitely recommend checking this place out.

Another great location for An's! I came on a Sunday afternoon and the line was not too bad maybe about 25 minutes. The inside was super cute and I love the airport theme. It really felt like I was in terminal one! The flavor tour is a must and an awesome experience. The service here is great, and the staff is knowledgeable about the flavors, will definitely be coming back again!

The Top Gun house now has amazing gelato!

The ambiance is absolutely amazing-across from the beach, cool outdoor seating, plus Top Gun nostalgia- so awesome! Service is friendly and always love the attentive Flavor Tour! The flavors are always great but they knocked it out of the park with Sambava. Also I always love Visor but they amp'd it up by adding chocolate. Had an awesome time!

The two flavors complemented each other perfectly, and the creamy texture really enhanced the flavor. The staff were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about the different gelato flavors. I would happily make questionable life decisions for another scoop of it. But honestly, what made this experience stand out wasn't just the gelato--it was Venezia. Huge shoutout to her for being so patient while we stood there completely incapable of making a decision. Instead of rushing us, she took the time to help us figure out what flavors we actually wanted and gave us recommendations that absolutely did not miss. She was incredibly sweet, genuinely welcoming, and made the whole experience so much better. And listen, this place is about an hour drive for me. An HOUR. Yet I'm already planning my return trip because the quality of the gelato and the service made it 100% worth it. If you're anywhere near this place, do yourself a favor and stop by. The gelato is ridiculously creamy, packed with flavor, and made with the kind of quality you can taste immediately. Dare I say it... the creaminess might even be better than An's Gelato . 10/10. Came for the gelato, left wanting to be friends with Venezia

We had Handel's Cater for our wedding in Oceanside, CA and got to work with the Carlsbad location…read more Once I sent an inquiry through Handel's website, we got connected to their catering manager, Alexa. Coordination was strictly through email for contracts and any questions. It was a bit confusing to understand the serving size and what we were looking for even though we asked for clarification. We decided to go with Handel's as our dessert as I had experienced their catering at another wedding I attended. At that wedding, they ran out of ice cream before the bride and groom could get their share. Therefore, I was worried about us running out. What I wished I did when deciding what serving size to choose was look at the Google Reviews for the location, because so many people said the serving size is huge! Those folks are correct! When Handel's came onsite, the medium serving was more than enough for our guests and I feel like we could have downsized to small serving and folks could have tried the multiple flavors we had gotten. I will also say since I've only tried Handel's once at the wedding I attended, choosing the flavors can be difficult since there isn't a description of the flavors on their website. I would suggest if you are considering Handel's for your event to try the different in-person. Luckily for us, we loved the flavors we chose of blueberry cheesecake, dulce de leche, vegan mango, and watermelon ice. (We are located in NorCal and the closest Handel's location is a bit away from us.) Other than that, overall the experience was great and we were happy with the service!

Nighttime Craving ice cream! Thank you Handel's for staying open late…read more Thanks to all the nice and sweet employees who were helpful. There are limited seating outside, but we were lucky to find a table available. We got the following delicious flavors: -S'mores & vanilla caramel brownies -Mango & butter pecan -Peach & strawberry The small size is perfect for one flavor. Since, we wanted to try two flavors, medium size was our choices. The flavors were excellent. The portions were huge. It's a nice spot. We had a great time and satisfied my craving.

So, whaddaya do in Oceanside (aka: "O'side", to me at least), after a nice lunch with a Yelp Friend…read moreyou met in person for the first time? Ya knock around on the O'side Beach, making your way slowly toward the famous Oceanside Pier, THAT'S what ya do. I absolutely love The O'side Pier, and try to make time for a trip there, anytime I'm in Escondido. It doesn't make it more difficult that it's the closest place to get to the Pacific, driving from E-town. Google up The Oceanside Pier; it's got quite a history. Ya know how they say: "There's always room for Jell-o"? Well, the same could be said for Italian Ice. Similar to Ice Cream, it contains NO Dairy (in case you're lactose-intolerant), and is simply DELICIOUS! You're not "delicious-intolerant", are ya? Which brings me to Skweezrz New York Italian Ices. "Italian Ice Joe" is set up right at the base of the ramp you walk up, to get onto The Pier itself. Great location; even greater fare. Joe's a really cool guy; I hung around long enough to see how great and easy he is with people of all kinds, be it kids, surfers, the ladies, or that annoying guy that talks your ear off, and just won't LEAVE (uh, that'd be...me). He offers every passer-by a free sample, and I warn ya; if you sample, you WILL buy! Of course, Joe offered me a "free one" (no not "that" kind). Sadly, he was out of my favorite fruit flavor (Cherry), so I had to "settle" for Strawberry; it sure didn't feel like settling. I may eat more Ice Cream than Italian Ice (as a general rule), but I really don't know why. The flavor was AMAZING! Couple that with the fact that it's gotta be lower in calories (something I could do with less of), and has a MUCH fresher finish. Compared to Ice Cream (or even frozen Yogurt), it's a way healthier choice. And it seems to quench your thirst, at the same time it's soothing your mouth with sweet, fruity coolness. Joe's got every flavor under the Sun (tho there was no Sun itself today); all the expected fruits, plus a chocolate flavor Joe sez tastes just like a Tootsie Roll. Or if ya can't decide, have him mix ya up a "Rainbow"; I can't remember if that's what he called it, but you get the idea (I posted a pic of one). Joe's got 'em ALL! It's NOT just getting a cup of frozen stuff; no, it's a whole "experience", it really is. The cool Italian Ice will soothe your mouth and cleanse your palette, and Joe's perpetual good mood is infectious. If you don't leave with a lighter spirit just by hangin' around the guy, you're a lost cause. The Italian Ice will cost ya (tho not very much at all); the uplifting spirit is FREE. If you're in Oceanside, you gotta take a trip to the O'side Pier. Take a walk all the way to the end and have a chat with the Pelicans, but don't get too close (they WILL attack, and I'm not kidding). And above all else, ya GOTTA stop by Skweezrz New York Italian Ice cart, say hi to Joe, and have a cup of frozen cheer. Tell him Larry sent ya! larrythediner .

You cannot drive to this location, but there is tons of parking and you can walk the boardwalk and enjoy some Italian refreshing ice! Diablito Rica for just $5 and that includes; 3 scoops of mango ice, chamoy, tajin and a tamarindo stick, it was happiness in my mouth! I opted out one scoop of mango for Italian rainbow ice. They didn't skimp on the tajin and chamoy either and you can add the extras to any scoop(s) of Italian ice, if you don't like mango. If you ever find yourself in Oceanside on a hot day and are looking for a refreshing treat, try this place, I promise you won't be disappointed! They are super friendly and their samples are very generous! Enjoy!

There were 3 employees and two were standing around while one worked. A customer who came in after me got his order, and all employees were just standing around. I went to the counter and asked if I had been forgotten. 2 of the employees got to work on my order. The only young woman working there was on her phone and handling food with the same gloves. I said excuse me, to her and pointed out that she had been on her phone and handled food in without getting new gloves. She looked at me and said, "So do you want me to change my gloves?" I replied "yes, it's a sanitation issue. I have worked in the industry and taught restaurant management." She changed gloves, cut off the edges of the Taiyaki waffle she had touched with the other gloves, finished my dish, and slid my finished dish across the counter. She said nothing as she slid the dish of taiyaki towards me, and turned and walked away from the counter. The restaurant had an "A" rating, but the cross contamination issue of handling personal phone and food with the same gloves, is not "A" rating behavior. It was close to closing and I do understand that it was getting late. It is still very disappointing. The restaurant did appear to be clean in the customer area. As I watched all 3 employees, the gentlemen working showed safe and sanitary work behaviors. I hope this cross contamination behavior by the female employee gets corrected.
