Food: I always get a quarter chicken or half chicken dark platter when I go here and always get a good quality meal for the price. The amount of chicken always fills me up with a quarter, and I almost never get to my rice in the same sitting. Comes with two sides, and I got yuca and arroz chaufa. Yuca is nice and crunchy. Sauces pair well with the chicken, the green is a jalapeño. You get 3 small cups of sauce with each platter, unable to mix and match the cups. we ordered additional red sauce which is why there is a total of 9 cups in the photo. Service: I saw a lot of reviews about the service here being poor, however I have never had a bad experience with the servers. They have always been kind and able to get me my order in decent time. I order online, give them 10 minutes, then come in to let them know I am waiting for my order and it is usually ready in another 5-10 minutes. The quality has gone downhill, the size of the chickens have become very tiny, yet the prices are going up. A man representing himself as the owner, I feel, was very rude to me when I politely made a complaint. At least take responsibility when customers bring up valid concerns! Our family used to get a Super Bowl platter two - three times a month, which is about $150. So treating customers badly is not going to really benefit your company because from one customer, you've now lost $1,800 a year in revenue. Just think, that's only one person. How much money are you losing by treating other customers poorly and not delivering a quality product? Thank goodness this isn't the only place in town anymore for Peruvian chicken. I have been a fan of Crisp and Juicy's food for a long time now and I am finally getting around to writing a review. I was tasked with bringing a meal to a family I was going to have dinner with and my main instruction was "the kids always like chicken..." So with that in mind, I went ahead and ordered the family platter (a whole chicken (white meat) and three sides (yuca, plantains and rice&beans)). The food was ready for pick up when I walked in. It was still nice and warm when I arrived at the family's home. And we all greatly enjoyed the meal. My only reason for bringing it down one star is because the cashier was pretty dour. And because the times that I have eaten on site I have felt that much more could be done to make the ambiance a little warmer and cozier. Overall, it is a great place. read more

Can get a better side of beans from a Goya can. The fried yuca is extra crispy, just the way it should be. The fried plantains are also excellent. The mild yellow sauce is meh. We ordered two large Caesar salads with chicken, large fried yucca, large fried plantains, medium chimichurri sauce, medium spicy sauce, and a gruyere chicken breast sandwich, and the total came to about $40. The gruyere chicken sandwich was good but there was far too much lettuce and on the dry side. I always get extra sauces specifically for this purpose, to make my meal more satisfying. The chicken salad was mediocre. More cheese would be desirable. The chicken was good, but not excellent. I asked for it to be extra grilled but it was not. The medium size of the sauces is plentiful for 3-4. The large is most likely better for a larger group. The chimichurri sauce is very flavorful and delicious but more liquidy that I expected. This is still the best place for Peruvian style chicken, and we've been coming here for many years. I can't give it 5 stars today as shockingly, I think we've been hit here with shrink flation. I was astonished at how small the bird was - very dainty sized pieces. I should have weighed the pieces when I opened the container, but really, their chicken is good. I would rather they have bumped up the price by 50cents to $1 than serve this tiny chicken. Any smaller it would have been a Cornish hen. This is a dilemma - I love their product but am disappointed in the size of the chicken, especially when feeding a hungry family. Still the best chicken around, though. read more

The rudest place in the DMV! Fiancée and I went there for lunch while out running errands this past weekend. The cashier had a terrible attitude and when asked for a cup of ice to go with her diet coke, she literally huffed, rolled her eyes and slammed the cup on the counter after filling it. Both chicken sandwiches were over cooked and dry as cardboard, cheese wasn't even slightly melted. The andouille sandwich was okay, but not great. As we sat there eating an angry shouting match happened between the cook and someone that appeared was the manager/owner, lasting at least ten minutes. One sunny Saturday, I decided I would drop by this place and check out their food. I have heard Crisp & Juicy is good (from a fellow yelper), so I wanted to try it out for myself. The parking lot for this place is also shared with other places including a post office and a few other stores, so it was quite busy in this area, but there are still spots available to park in. As you enter through the door, it shows that they accept Mastercard, Discover and Visa, so American Express card holders, you may need to go to one of the nearby banks to get some funds. Once you do enter, there is a menu that pops up on a digital screen in front of you (right above the cashier) and it shows each item along with the pricing (there is even a mini description under most of the items). To the left of those screens (you may have to stand in the table area), there is a separate screen that shows what some of the dishes look like - too bad I did not really see this until after I put in my order. On this visit, I decided to try the Chicken Platter Dark - it is a 1/4 chicken and it comes with 2 sides. They had quite a lot of sides to choose from and so I decided on Primavera Rice and Fried Plantain. I had to ask the cashier what the difference was between Primavera Rice and White Rice and she said the Primavera Rice was yellow rice, so that is why I opted to try it. I enjoyed the chicken, but I did not like the rice too much. The fried plantains were okay but I have had better. The rice was a bit hard (like it was overcooked) and the fried plantains, I could tell that the plantains were really ripe before they were cooked as it had a mushy texture to it (not too much of a fan of that style). I will visit again and maybe try some different sides on my next visit. read more

Right on the end of leisure world shopping center. Can't miss it! Shares the parking lot with every other shop there. Price is pretty decent for what they have. Definitely a good choice for Peruvian style chicken. They have plenty of sides, other chicken styles and different variety of combos. Usually I would get a quarter chicken with sides if I want to feel content. I just wish the owner (I think that's him) would smile when he took my order or when we walked in. Customer service is a priority and if he sets the mood of being moody and not friendly, why would we come back? But you're here for the food. So I would definitely suggest coming here to eat or take it to go. Seating can be pretty limited. read more

I am very disappointed in the dinner delivery we did NOT receive today. I understand that the Covid-19 pandemic is going on, and that businesses are feeling the strain, but I don't think there's any excuse for sending a text that my order was delayed and then totally ghosting me. I had to sign into Grubhub to see that my order had been cancelled and that I wouldn't receive a refund for 3-5 business days. My family has been waiting for over an hour to eat and now it's too late to order from other restaurants. I will NOT order from here again. The food here is delicious. It's my husband's favorite local carry out. But this was super disappointing for the kids so we have no choice but to resort to more reliable options from now on. A note to management- please don't take the customers who are trying to support your business during the pandemic for granted. I'm blessed to be working during this national crisis, but many people aren't, and they definitely can't afford to spend their hard-earned money to feed their kids just to be stood up and then have to wait 3-5 business days for a refund. Being a vegan there was very little for me to eat here. Went in to buy chicken for my little one. The man that took my order was rude and unfriendly. Since I had never been there it took a long time to decide but there wasn't anyone else in line so I dont know what his problem was. I ordered a quarter chicken meal for my little one. This Crisp & Juicy is close to my home, I purchased chicken breast & rice. I should have cancelled my order when I saw them putting my food in a microwave, because it came up fast and I'm 5' 10" so I can see way in the back area. The restaurant was not very clean and the customer service is "zero"! Half way through the meal (at my home), I got sick. When I called they were very nasty and said they don't cook their food in a microwave! Really! I was sick for 3 days, the chicken breast was still oozing blood! How do you mess up chicken breast! No bueno, nada, I have never been back. They are very arrogant, lack customer service. Instead, I drive to Pollo Central or Don Pollo in Aspen Hill on Connecticut Avenue or Glenmont! WORST customer service I've ever experienced! The individual who works in the front (cashier) was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. He charged me for the wrong meal and refused to change my order or give me a refund. He told me to eat what I was served even though I did not order that. I am so surprised that this behavior is allowed. I do NOT recommend supporting this Spanish owned business. Absolutely delightful. Been going here for probably 5 years (plus a few more years at another location) and it's one of my favorite places. I generally get the half chicken with two sides of fried yuca, and that's usually a nice amount for two people, sometimes with a little left over. The chicken is consistently flavorful and tender, and the yuca is crispy. They have a bunch of different stuff on their menu, but IMO the chicken and yuca are the two things they do really well, so I just stick with those. read more

Located in the Leisure World Plaza off of International Drive, Crisp & Juicy can be described with one word: mediocre. It didn't really live up to its name because I was looking for something, well... crisp and juicy. Let's start off with the chicken. The chicken should be their pride and joy, but alas it wasn't. It wasn't very consistent -- it was dry in some places and you could see pink in some areas after taking off the skin. The skin was soft and salty, which isn't the ideal texture and taste when biting into a piece of Peruvian chicken. The sides I got weren't really that good, either. The yuca was hard and dry (overcooked?). It was definitely a challenge chewing it. I probably just got a bad batch because yuca usually always tastes good no matter where I get it. The rice had no seasoning or anything. It was just plain white rice with little flavor. The only thing that I liked about it is the texture. It wasn't mushy, but firm. Maybe I went on one of their off days, but I can't get over the fact that their chicken isn't as good as some of the other places in the area, given the name of the place. I'm probably going to give it another chance, but with the numerous Peruvian chicken places in the DMV area, I won't actively seek this out. read more

I haven't had a chance to experience this place completely, but I can tell you right now, I probably won't. I was really put off today by the man at the register. He wasn't very nice. Yes I did go in to use the bathroom, but I did order something. My acid reflux was starting to acr up, so the only thing I could stomach was bland food. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes, as it was the only thing I could probably eat. Just so you know, Crisp and Juicy, I have money. I'm not some run of the mill person just coming in to use your facilities. I would appriciate it if your staff wouldn't treat me like that. Nothing specifically was said to me, but the guy at the register looked really grumpy and had nothing nice to say to me. This is not a way to gain a new customer. I loved this place when we first moved to Montgomery County. The spicey, wood fired, rotisserie chicken and hot crispy fried yucca with their outstanding Peruvian hot sauce made a movie night with a hearty meal something to look forward to. Now, it should be called Crisp and Juicy Pigeon. On more than one occasion in the past then more recently, when my wife picked up dinner the other night, I was surprised to open the clam shell container to reveal an extremely small thigh and leg since I ordered the 1/4 Dark meal. They should be ashamed of themselves for being a chicken place then serving chicken that is so small. It is no exaggeration when I say it looked about the size of a cornish game hen leg and thigh, that is how small it was. The yucca does not hold up well in those carry out containers and gets very soft and pasty by the time it gets to your door. My suggestions would be to change your chicken supplier, train your kitchen staff to inspect chicken for size and quality standards then return the chicken that doesn't pass to the vendor. Change how you pack the yucca for carry out. A simple French fry paper cup in a brown paper bag works best to keep them hot and crisp. Don't let them steam themselves to a mushy cold mess of their former selves. I would have rated Crisp and Juicy a 2 but rated it a 3 because their hot sauce is still the best thing they serve at the moment. read more

The service is at times slow but chicken is pretty flavorful and juicy. I didn't care very much for the fries or house salad. Crisp & Juicy is conveniently located at the intersection of Georgia Ave and Norbeck. I remember coming here 3years ago(?) and this restaurant was called something else, I'm guessing it's either under management or was purchased by someone else. 100x better than Wheaton's location. Seriously. My mom and I went to the Crisp & Juicy in Wheaton a few months ago and will not be returning EVER. I don't know what they did to their chicken. Perhaps they got their measurement mixed up or maybe they are a little TOO generous with the salt, but it was SOOOO incredibly salty to the point where I couldn't even eat beyond 2 bites. I tried to wrap it in the salad, chug water, EVERYTHING...but no, nothing worked. Trash you go. I mean, was it me? or was it them? If you're really hungry and can finish a half a chicken AND you're a dark meat lover, you have an option for ALL dark meat. I used to frequent the Gaithersburg Crisp & Juicy 2 or 3 times a week and have ordered several large catering orders, as well. But the one in Leisure World pales by comparison in both food & service. And, I don't know if it's conscious or not, but preferential treatment is given to Hispanic males... even when you arrived before them and even when you only ordered a medium caesar salad with chicken, no croutons. I went back to the restaurant and the cashier was unapologetic about the situation. I know it wasn't his fault but it would've been nice to have someone who was more considerate. Instead, he gave me an attitude and they opened the carry out box to see if it really was missing. He didn't offer to give me a side of yucca fries so eventually we agreed on a full refund. I'm not too sure if he was the owner but I paid with card and he gave me back cash. The staff there seems like they could care less about customer service. I didn't get a chance to try their food but I doubt that I'm missing out. There are other Peruvian chicken spots that are pretty good in the area like Pollo Brasero. read more

I have passed this place a million times on my way to the burgerking drive through. One day I had a few extra minutes to spare and an adventurous urge to try something different. So I walk into Crisp & Juicy, ever since I've been coming here weekly. I've also tried several other C&J locations, but the leisureworld one is my favorite. The service is alright, I tend to ask a lot of questions since I work in the food and service industry, I know it sucks to work in it, and I like to be that annoying customer sometimes to keep me sane. The cashier answered my questions, like "what comes in a platter?", "does this sandwich come with fries?", "why are your 24oz soda drinks two bucks?" and so on. I occasionally practice my poor spanish skills with the cashiers to grab a laugh or two. The latino checked breast, the grille combo platter, and the half chicken platter are my usual dishes, with yuca fries and a salad as sides. The chicken is AMAZING. The grille platter comes with chicken, flat steak and chorizo sausage, all pretty good. The sauces are also great for dipping the chicken and yuca fries in, the spicy one is my favorite. The salad is okay, they chop their lettuce up into threads so it's kinda weird but fine. Yuca fries are on point, but sometimes they overlook them, you gotta get lucky. Favorite drinks are Inca cola (bubble gum soda from heaven), and Fanta pineapple. My warning would be to bring your own napkins, or use the napkins of wherever your going because theirs are very very thin, like Mcdonalds toilet paper. I would recommend this place to a friend, it's my favorite due to the fact that it's also the closest pollo la brasa place to my house, but there are better places out there that I've eaten at. read more

They allowed me to get steamed yucca which the main reason I kept driving to them when there is a Sardis within walking distance from my house. The last order I tried to place, they told me that they were no longer allowed to make the yucca steamed because of the amount of time this takes. Time? Not sure what they are talking about as "steamed" yucca to them is putting it in the microwave for 1 minute. I am thoroughly disappointed...loved this place and it was my go to but the customer service there has gone downhill and the chicken is often tough....don't know what else to say.
