Have been going to here for about 4 years now, and it's been a uniformly great experience. Every eye exam was done professionally and correctly, and I've been pleased with the glasses I got from the office. Yes, they cost more than glasses at the cut rate online sites, but all of my glasses are still completely functional. I can't say the same for the ones I've gotten online. I wear the glasses continuously, and I quickly break the online versions. When I price high quality frames online (Ray-Ban is what I've gone with from Crest), the prices are in line with what I the price is at Crest. In addition, when I order them at Crest, they take the time to make sure the glasses are correctly fitted to my face (as it is not perfectly symmetrical --- most faces are not). Very pleased, and I've kept coming back even though it's not the most convenient for me to get to. read more

As for glasses, it's kind of like buying a car. I went in expecting to walk out with nothing or if anything, maybe a used compact car. But instead, I walked out with a brand spanking new...... well, compact car still. But, at least I got power windows, mud guards, and a year of Satellite Radio! My whole life I have never worn glasses. But, I have been noticing that I'm having to move things around when I read. Could be old age.......uhm, better age...... or maybe I might need glasses. Trusting good ole Yelp, I stumbled on Crest Optometry. Wow, 5-stars! Can't be all that bad! Making an appointment was easy. I called, gave my insurance info, and they scheduled my appointment, which was about 2 weeks out. Before my appointment, I filled out some paperwork online, so I would be stuck filling it out a hard copy at the office. Works for me! I got email and text notifications a few days before my appointment, which was great, because I forget due to my old age........ uhm, I mean, because I'm swamped at work. When I get to my appointment, I check in and then Elaine (I think that was her name) goes over a few forms (by iPad to make it easier) and off we go to a few preliminary tests before seeing Dr. Pham. Easy Peasy. After a few minutes, I see Dr. Pham and we go thru the usual eye exams like reading this line and that line, cover this eye and look at this over here, numbing your eye balls.......wait, what?!? Numbing my eye balls? This is where I turn into Rachel from Friends! But, just like her, I don't want a glass eye, so I okay the drops. No big deal. Felt weird, but no problem. Dr. Pham was very personable, answered all the questions I had, and explained everything to the Eye Doctor wuss that's known as Jamie. She prescribed computer glasses to me (I didn't even know there was such a thing) and she showed me what it would look like thru them. We then went out and she personally went thru some of her recommendations in terms of frames. She didn't try to push the most expensive ones, but she went thru the ones that would make me feel comfortable wearing. After I chose a pair, the friendly Christina helped me thru the rest of the paperwork and other options. Again, she walked thru the options with me, but didn't push the most expensive. I pick up my glasses in about a week and a half. I doubt I'll have to invoke the Lemon Law. read more

I wanted to find an optometrist that is closer to my home. I have been going to an optometrist in East Side San Jose; the reason mostly was for the fact that they carry Chanel glasses. I am very satisfied with Dr. Pham's work and very glad she is in my neighborhood. She is extremely thorough and explains everything I need to know about my eyes and its health. She was able to find contacts more suitable for my needs and was very informative of how to better take care of my eyes. She has a very caring demeanor and is a pleasure to do business with. I believe this is the most accurate prescription that I have ever received. In addition, her staff is just as courteous and very thorough. I have never received such great treatment and care in the 23 years I have worn corrective lenses. They really do care about you and want to make sure you that all is well from beginning to end. They even helped me with my rebate documentation. I would highly recommend this office. I even kept bugging my boyfriend to visit Dr. Pham and I promised him he would have a good experience. He has never gotten his eyes checked and I believed that he needed glasses; he was always squinting to read or look at things! I was right! It turned out that he was far sighted with astigmatism. I use to go to Costco to get my eye exams, glasses, etc. because I didn't have insurance but thank you to full-time benefits at work I can finally go to a real optometrist! I found this place through Yelp and I'm so glad I did! Everyone is super nice, friendly, helpful, and always trying to help you get the best of your benefits and still trying to help you get a deal! I went twice this year to get contacts and a new pair of glasses. They have a pretty good variety of glasses for men and women in a variety of brands like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Ray Ban, Burberry, etc. and also carry a wide range in price to meet your budget. It seems like their inventory is always changing and they get new frames in every week or so. The sunglasses collection is okay, there's the classic Ray Bans and a couple of designer ones in aviator, square-shaped frames and so on. read more

Dr. Pham and her staff are amazing, super friendly, and very professional! I had my annual eye exam here for the first time and every step--from calling to make an appointment to picking up my glasses--was as smooth and painless as possible. I called to book an appointment and Rosette scheduled me in with no issues. I was asked to complete the online patient registration form prior to my appointment, which I thought was pretty convenient. Back in the day, patients were typically asked to fill out forms at the time of visit, but I actually had the leisure of filling out the online registration form on my own time. Awesome! Dr. Pham was very soft spoken and thorough. She walked me through each step and explained what to expect during the exam. I really liked that she was genuine and personable too! She and Rosette were very patient when I tried on almost every pair of frames in the office. It didn't help that they had such a large selection of quality frames either! Lol. They were super helpful and made excellent suggestions though, and I am very grateful for their service. Not only can I see better now, but I feel great in my new glasses too. I had anticipated to pick up my glasses in a week; however, they were ready in two days! Shortly after I picked up my glasses, I received a summary of my exam via email--with my prescription and receipt attached. After an email response from Dr. Pham, I realized it was an honest mistake that she did not mention the contact fitting cost. So I decided to talk it out with her in the office instead of canceling my next visit. Today, she gave me a discount in the amount of the contact fitting towards buying contact lenses if I do choose to get them. I think I might since she's been good with finding ones that work for me. My last visit to an optometrist was so long ago I can't even remember when. See, I'm a journalist and my eyeballs are glued to a computer monitor all day. Kills my eyes. So I figured I'd better get some frames on my face soon, or else it'd be a service dog I'd need and not a prescription. I came in for my appointment and Rosette greeted me by name as soon as I stepped foot inside. Of course they were expecting me. But you go into a place like this and you expect to find the frigid, sterile, soulless foyer to Limbo itself. Instead, what I walked into was a pretty classy operation. A lot of attention was paid to detail in the design of the office and for a second I even wondered whether I'd walked through the door of a day spa with an inexplicable assortment of spectacles on display across two walls. And you know how the eye exam itself is usually an awkward situation where you find yourself sitting with some outlandish looking metal hardwear on your mug while the doctor leans in uncomfortably close and mouth-breathes into your face? Doc Pham didn't do that. Instead she punctuated the various tests with a bit of edifying commentary and questions. But perhaps the most notable thing I took away from this experience was just how genuinely excited the Doc and Rosette were that I was there, getting my eyeballs examined, and looking for a pair of frames to put on my unfortunate mug. When I finally decided on the round frames the Doc almost squealed like a Japanese fangirl at a Katy Perry concert, saying they'd been waiting for someone to finally choose that pair, the round ones being less popular the rectangular shapes (which were well-represented in their selection). I mean, look at the other reviews. Not a single reviewer gave less than five stars. read more

Appointments- I made an appointment for a weekday around 4pm. It was easy enough to make the appointment over the phone, and I was able to complete the registration online. Getting there- If you're coming from the Alameda and turn onto N. Morrison Avenue, the correct parking lot is the second one on the left. Do NOT turn into the first driveway (like I did) and try to find the office. You instead want the parking lot next door, that is gated all around. Once you turn into the correct driveway (second one on the left), the office is straight back (it is the corner office). There was ample parking. First appointment- Dr. Pham checked my eyes, had me try some new contacts, and I had to make an appointment to come back a week later so she could see how I was doing in my contacts and to dilate my eyes. I signed some forms with ease on their iPad. They clearly explained what I was eligible for with my insurance. For this visit, I just had to pay my $15 copay. Second appointment-- I come in and it seems like Dr. Pham is running behind, but that works out perfectly because I wanted to look at the glasses selection anyway before getting my eyes dilated. My sister and I only found pairs of "man" glasses that were a good fit for my face shape and color. So I end up just getting contacts instead and had to come back the next day to pick them up. As for the second examination-- Dr. Pham put some yellow solution in my eye and then examined it. Then put some dilating drops in my eye and I went to pay for my contacts while I waited for the drops to take effect. After paying, Dr. Pham checked my eyes and I fortunately do not have any holes in my retina! Healthy eyes! For this second visit, I just had to pay for my contacts. Overall, I would say this office has excellent customer service. They know what they're doing. They're clear and helpful. They filled out the rebate form for me and got my paperwork together so all I had to do was simply mail the rebate form. I would recommend this office to anyone. read more

Dr. Pham has been quite helpful with me and my family. My first set of glasses were making me seasick (they were progressive lenses, but they were replacing progressives that I already had from another location). She went through the measurements a few times and couldn't figure it out. Ultimately she found out that if she made the lense 1 mm taller, that would resolve the issue. They remade the lenses with the new values and I was fine. Now my entire family is getting glasses from here without any difficulties. read more

Being a girl, that's always a plus ;) Location: Initially, I was pretty startled by the location because it was hidden behind Chipotle but don't be fooled, this place is truly a hidden gem in the heart of San Jose with the BEST staff to take care of you from start to finish. Team: One thing that I love about the team here is that they are thorough and patient, which is always important. Not to mention, Dr. Pham is by far one of the most patient and sweetest doctors I've ever met. She truly takes the time to make sure my contacts fit right, answer my questions, and helps ensure that I take preventative measure to protect the health of my eyes. It's more than just an exam when I go; Dr. Pham really does a great job educating me on the latest contacts/solutions/products that fit my lifestyle. Crest Optometry has great glasses selection, and the staff are super responsive, helpful, and friendly. They make me want to work there! In my personal opinion, Dr. Pham is the best optometrist you are going to find out there. She is very friendly, easy to talk to, accurate in her evaluations, goes above and beyond, and has helped me go from normal sight to super HD vision. My fiance got into a car accident last November, and one of the after affects was high pressure in his eye to the point where I was scared for his vision. He went to Dr. Pham after we did extensive research on Yelp and were not disappointed. She took care of him, made him sit down which is a feat in itself since he is always on the go, and gave him medication and referrals to make sure that his eye health was out of danger. He also got fancy Oakley's that he likes which was an added bonus. The staff was amazing, and tended to my every need. Though Dr. Pham, however was a bit rushy. I remember her being late, and then rushing me to start my refraction. Once it got around to finalizing my contact lense prescription I told her that I was interested in switching to a different brand of colored contact lenses, and I started to ask about pricing her demeanor started to change. She became impatient when I couldn't decide, and to be quite frank she could've easily sent me off with a technician. Not sure why she kept me in the room if she was behind. Dr. Pham is a wonderful doctor. She is very friendly and thorough. I loved that she talked me through everything and explained what she was doing, which is really comforting to know and understand why certain procedures are needed. The office space is beautiful, modern and welcoming. Rosette and Dr. Pham will spend the time helping you pick out the perfect pair of glasses with you, and will give you the space to peruse on your own. I never felt nervous the whole time was there and the best part was, there was no puffer machine! I hate those things! Instead they have a different machine that requires no puffs of air in your eyes. A MAJOR BONUS. Those things are not fun at all. The glasses selection here are awesome, you can tell a lot of thought had gone into it and there really is something for everyone. Poor customer service. If you like waiting, and being ignored, then this is the place to go. Previously called to ask if I need appointment to buy prescription sunglasses. I was told no appointment needed, just come by. SO I came in, and arrived with the office/clinic empty. One of the staff came out, but then I was asked to wait because she did not know anything about pricing. So I waited, and waited as other customers start arriving and more of the staff came out and started helping the other customers that just arrived. One of the staff who know about pricing, and I believe in charge of purchasing is particularly rude and snooty, I wish I can remember her name, but would just have to describe her as the fat one, if Yelp will allow Used to like this optometry clinic when it was just small. Fortunately, I found the sunglasses I really wanted to buy at Target optical. Hey Crest Optometry team - you are not the only one providing this service. Either deal with customers on a first come first serve basis, require appointment, or do some numbering system. Before you decide to read my review, I would like to lets you know that I am BLACK WOMAN over 40s so I have seen many different Dr. I do my yearly check up on everything and I have no relationship to any of the people in this practice, I decided to make the reservation after reading the highest reviews on yelp and it paid off. I had no ideas Dr. like her still exist in our society. Again! I want to extend my thank you to the Yelp reviewers, without your reviews I would never found Dr.Phuong. She is the type of Dr. you want to care for your family. This was my very first visit and I must say I had a really high expectations so I was a little nervous about that, however the minutes I stepped into the door, my worries start to disappear. The frond desk were very nice and helpful, no complaint about her at all. The waiting room is nice and cozy and really clean, you fit in immediately, I was kind of late so there was no waiting at all for me. I love the way that they are so high tech, they will have you complete your health form from home ahead of time on your own pace so you don't have to seat and wait to complete that long form at the office, all you do when you get in is, sign in on the ipad or Galaxy tablet it was not sure which one and then you are done with that part; yes they are very very high tech to be expected we are in silicon valley. And yes I ask about the safety of my file because my husband is a geek also and he is always very concerns about these kind of things and of course Dr. Phuong assured me that they use a very reliable company for that service as well. Dr.Phuong is just perfect. She will explain everything to you so you understand what you really need or not need but want to try on your glasses, she make you feel really comfortable about everything, she does, from the exam, the choice, the warranty on your glasses to the non refundable, if in case you don't like what you order. If you are looking for an Optometrist or anyone you know are looking for one, don't look any thither, she is great, my whole experiences with her/ them is just amazing. I left home planning to re-use my Prada old frame, oh well because they carry Prada at the practice I ended up getting a new Prada frame again, because I found the cutest new frame and feel in love with it right away. I am so pleased with my eye exam appointment! I haven't had my eyes checked in over 2 years! So, with having insurance (VSP)- my little sister came to Crest Optometry last year & highly recommended it. So I made a 1 o'clock appointment, and was 30 minutes early. Came to Crest for a contact lens exam on a Saturday. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and asked to fill out some information on the an iPad. The receptionist told me that the office is trying to be a paperless office. Thought that was pretty cool. After I was done she explain my insurance benefits (Eyemed) which was great because my last optometrist didn't and caught me off guard when I had to pay extra for my contact lens fitting. The Crest receptionist told me that I only had a $10 copay and my contact lens fitting was covered by my insurance. Awesome!! Dr Pham then did my pre-testing and exam. She was through, informative, and professional. She also told me that my prescription is getting a little better! Must be the carrots... She also recommended UV protection to prevent growths on the eyes. After my exam and contact lens fitting, I ordered a year supply and had it shipped directly to my home for free. On top of that Crest's contact lens prices were pretty reasonable. I compared it to 1800Contacts and it was the same. I'm glad I found a doctor and office that is welcoming, trustworthy, and caring. Since we were 15 minutes late to our follow up appointment, they deserve this 5 star review. They were very understanding and didn't give us a hard time (I hope this doesn't make potential patients believe that it's ok to show up late) I've been wearing contacts/glasses since 5th grade and unfortunately my kids have my genes. My son started in 3rd grade and now my daughter in kinder. I've tried optometrists in the mall (Lenscrafters) and even private practitioners, never truly comfortable with any, but still returned every year just out of convenience. Their practice philosophy: get as many patients in as possible. So I gave Crest a try based on referrals. It's a cute boutique practice with one exam room and a waiting area with toys. Dr. Pham was very thorough in her exam, which took about 30 minutes. Exams I've had in the past were a rushed 15 minutes. My first visit I scheduled 5 exams: myself, kids, fiance, and sister. I wouldn't recommend scheduling multiple exams together. Dr. Pham sent me a follow up email detailing her concerns with my kids astigmatism which I truly appreciate because I forgot half the things she told me when we were in the office. I have been going to optometrists my whole life. This clinic is by far one of the best ever in both service, selection, and price. It helps to have really awesome coverage, but still... I found them on yelp and then proceeded to their fb page where I got to see some of the frames and collections they carried and was immediately sold. I was in and out in about 1hr and my actual exam was very thorough. Dr phan was so sweet, personable, and really explained what she was doing and addressed some questions in regards to my eyes. I have Dr. Pham co-managing my PRK surgery, and all I have to say is that she's great! I've also been a patient of hers for the past 9 months or so, and she's been great in the past as well, so no surprise there. Here's an anecdotal experience that explains why i say she's great: It was the week of the fourth of July. I had an "emergency" event with my eyes two weeks after surgery, and was a bit freaked out because everything was suddenly a haze. I called her office, and she was able to fit me in on the same day (it was a Wednesday). After the checkup, the good doctor gave me some bandage contacts to protect the eyes from any damage. Then she also mentioned that she wanted to evaluate it after ~24 hours, but was all booked up for Thursday.
