It's been 8 years since my last review, and since we just saw them again last week I thought I'd update it. The office staff were friendly and welcoming. Dr. Pham was super knowledgable in telling us all of our options, and what was best for my daughter (it was her appointment). She was getting her first pair of contact lenses at age 12, and they were amazing at teaching her and being so patient. It can be a frustrating experience, but they were calm and reassuring. She didn't feel rushed. They had great customer service all around. I would highly recommend Crest to anyone! read more

The classic "Dog chewed my glasses" led me to Crest Optometry. Called on a Monday morning, was scheduled for the same day in place of someone's cancellation, and went in for an exam. If you're a petite Asian woman, the office will feel normal size. Otherwise, this place is considered small-- but full of charm! Dr. Pham was great from the beginning and in full-service as her employees were on lunch break. Her exam room is spacious in comparison to other optometrists I've been to. She's professional and also is the right amount of personable. Staff members are also pleasant and helpful. Any questions I had were answered with no problem. My process was simple. Had the exam, went out to the front room to pick out some frames, selected my lens type and add-ons, swiped my card, and was told to expect my glasses by the end of next week. Picked up my glasses exactly 7 days later the following Monday. They also let me know I could drop by anytime if my glasses need readjustments with the frames. Despite the unfortunate situation of my last pair of glasses becoming a dog's chew toy, Crest Optometry made getting a new pair smooth and easy. This review was way overdue! I've been Dr Pham's patient for about 5 or 6 years. I've only seen her a few times for my annual check ups. I would end up being seen by her colleagues. Working with them was no issue. Dr Pham has other optometrists in her office, so she's not the only one working on your eyes. I finally got to see Dr Pham for my annual exam a couple of months ago. As always, very professional, always helpful, down to earth and kind. Traits every doctor should have! Luckily this office has the best optometrists and staff in the city! Staff will help you with your glasses and decide on payment options. Everyone here has the best customer service. Office was bigger than their previous location which happens to be a few doors down. Pretty spacious, very clean, and lots of sunshine! Their hours are flexible. They accept evening and Saturday appointments for you full time folks that can't come in during the day. Really hesitant to write a yelp review about my optometrist because well, like a good barber, once people hear about it, that's when I can no longer get into the door (looking at you, Herman's). Still, I'd like to sing the praises of Crest Optometry. This place is great. It's close to downtown, they have dedicated parking, they're open much later than other optometrists, and their service is exceptional. Their staff is always courteous and polite, and in the three years that I've been going here, their staff has remained mostly the same, a sign that they invest in quality staff. Even though the office is relatively small (hence my hesitance about wanting to publicize this place), I've never felt rushed or felt the uncomfortable asking follow-up questions. Dr. Pham is also great! She's very attentive to the concerns I bring up, which aren't many, but the ones that I do are always answered sincerely and without condescension. I'm not up to date with all of the latest and greatest eye technology, but the equipment she has works well and I haven't had to suffer any horror stories getting routine eye exams, dialations, or fittings. She's really an expert in her field. It's a bit pricier than Costco, but let's be real: what isn't? The service I get here more than exceeds the money I'd save, and the cost of dealing with the insanity of Costco parking lots. I've never once had a problem with the optometry services or the staff running the front office who are all competent and helpful. I used this office for 2+ years; However, I strongly discourage you from buying any products (glasses, etc) from this office as it is exorbitantly overpriced. *See my Google review with photo evidence of billing rate to support experience below* My experience: I found a pair of frames priced at $320 in their shop which was 128% higher than competitive retail shops. If you include my $125 insurance allowance, and the "20%" discount offered, they still earn 100% premium above competitor retail shops. My price comparisons are retail - not wholesale. Lenses were priced at $125, and AR/UV/Anti-scratch coatings + polished edges priced at $140, which is 117% and 182% higher than competitor retail. Now... my insurance covers lenses and coatings in full, so I have no problem with exorbitant billing to my insurance, but when I asked for equal match on frames, they were unwilling to negotiate. Best part is that they offered me a greater discount last time I purchased sunglasses, which they were also unwilling to match in order to make the purchase "fair." The message they communicated to me that day was an unwillingness to match competitor retail frame prices (despite the lense premiums they would have received), and the value they place in me as a 2+ year customer. I'm happy to let them earn 20-30-50% premiums (for the convenience), but 100% premiums compared to competitor retail exceeds my own ethical business standards. read more

Just went to see Dr. Pham and her staff last week and we had a fantastic experience! Dr. Pham was so cheerful and professional, and gave me a really good exam. I could tell by the nuanced questions she was asking me that my glasses and contacts will be super clear without giving me headaches, which I've had issues with in the past with other optometrists. I also loved that she was super nice and personable. When it came to selecting contacts, sunglasses and frames, her entire team was helpful. They all worked together to find my husband and myself the best options. They have a good selection of stylish quality name brands like Prada, Burberry, Oliver Peoples, Maui Jim, RayBans, etc. It would have been nice to have a few more designer brands, but that wasn't a big deal. They're able to order any style that they didn't have in stock from the brands they do carry, which they did for me. Can't wait for my Pradas to come in! This was probably the best experience we've ever had at an optometrist and we've been to a handful over the years, including the big box warehouse. So happy to have found Crest Optometry! read more

Got an eye exam here, that was fine. I wanted contacts. Before beginning the of the fitting the doctor asked which type I wanted. Daily, biweekly, or monthly. I asked for pricing so I could know what to expect to pay. She said theirs too many options to give me pricing. So I asked for the cheapest, middle and highest pricing. She told me she didn't know so I decided to cancel it because I didn't want to commit to something that I didn't know the price of. I now wasted my covered eye exam for the year. read more

Very pleased with their services. They have great staff. Everyone we have interacted with so far, in-person and over the phone, have been very helpful and kind. I went there for the first time last December for my annual eye exam. Dr. Pham was very thorough. She carefully listened to my queries and answered them patiently. I had very good experience overall. Few days back I went there again with my husband for getting prescription sunglasses as they have very good selection of frames. Cristina helped us with the frame selection and prescription lens ordering process. She is very humble and tried to help us in every possible way. She recommended us frames which suited our budget and our needs, plus she helped us with rush order delivery. Because of her due diligence we got our sunglasses just in 3 days !! Still going to Dr. Pham every year - she and her staff are fantastic! It's great to see the welcoming staff at Crest Optometry every year, new faces too. It can be difficult to grow a business and retain such a wonderful culture, you can tell that Dr. Pham has been thoughtful in this regard. Kind, patient, knowledgable, everyone at Crest makes it a pleasure to get my eyes checked. As I mentioned in my previous review, Dr. Pham was able to identify and correct an overprescription when I first started at her practice and my eyes are still grateful :). When I brought in my last pair of glasses to get new lenses (I scratched them up a bit), they made sure I got my warranty coverage - I didn't have to pay a dime! That is one of many reasons I'll be buying another pair this year directly from Crest. I've been coming to crest for over 5 years now. Dr Pham sees my whole family of 4. She's very detail oriented and takes many opportunities to educate us about our eyes health. I always like to know what's going on inside my eyeballs. She actually referred me to get lasik done with a great lasik surgeon. My vision is superb post-lasik but I get dry eyes sometimes. My favorite advice from her is "eyedrops are like lotion for your eyeballs". That totally makes me want to use eye drops more often! I still go to her follow ups and annual check ups and my family wears glasses so she's still our family optometrist. My husband can actually wear contact lens now thanks to Dr. Pham and Rosette for being patient with him, he could never touch his eyeballs before. My kids love going to her office to watch the exam videos. They get to pick something from the treasure chest afterwards (always the highlight). My 8 year old recently got glasses and had a great selection to choose from. I love that her staff reminds us to use our benefits at the end of the insurance cycle. Dino took the time and personal risk (even though my prescription and frames were from another optician) to help me choose lenses, get fitted, and order my glasses before my health insurance lapsed due to the coronavirus quarantine. Just picked up a pair of new glasses, LAFONT!!!! Super excited. I was impressed by how helpful their receptionist (Rosette Nguyen) by nailing down the right pair of glasses for me. Their shop felt like the Olive Garden, "When you're there, you're family". They have a broad range of frames and sunglasses, from high end brands such as Prada, Burberry, Jimmy Choo and Zero G to mainstream frames such as Ray Ban & Oakley. They are now taking VSP which was a great help since Costco and Lenscrafter do not! Dr. Pham is very professional but at the same give you a personal experience. My most successful long-standing relationship to date is with my optometrist and the Crest Optometry office! I've been going here for over 5 years and I can say I have never ever thought about exploring elsewhere. Dr. Pham and her staff remain top notch! They moved locations just a few doors down and my oh my did they expand! Their new location is huge with more space for more inventory, as well as more friendly staff! :) I still come here to purchase sunglasses and the best news of all is that they now carry OLIVER PEOPLES! If you don't know...now you know. When I found out they started carrying Oliver Peoples, I forced my boyfriend to come with me and while he had no idea why I was so excited. He understood real quick when he saw the selection. He was more hooked on OP than I was and refused to even try on any other brand of glasses. Needless to say, we both left with OP glasses and are now the dorky couple with matching glasses. *High five* Not only have they provided me with the most stylish glasses every year for the last 5 years, but have continued to provide me with the most comfortable contacts. Being my typical cheap self, I never wanted to do dailies in the past cause I assumed they would cost me more. But the staff helped cost it out for me since I don't wear contacts everyday and it turns out dailies were way more cost efficient for me. The staff will always let me know of coupons/rebates so i know i'm getting a good deal. Best of all they are so easy to dispose after a long night of drinking - I mean who wants to worry about putting their contacts away while stumbling into bed? I'm so glad I finally found a go-to optometry. I've been using corrective lenses for over 17 years, so I've been through a lot of optometrist along the way. I've never really came across anyone bad per se (except for a horrible experience in NY) but I never really found an optometrist that stood out that made me say, "Oh man, yea, this is where I'll always be going back to!" I moved back to SJ last year and it was time for a check up. Yelp brought me to Crest so I guess I wanted to pay it forward and say how great I found this place. Dr. Pham is awesome. Very knowledgeable and makes a patient feel extremely comfortable. The staff are extremely kind and attentive. They had a good selection of eyeware to look through. I actually came here later wanting a specific style of sunglasses (foldable ray-ban aviators) when they were still new and not offered anywhere by crappy sunglass hut and they were able to get me a pair in the color I want at a reasonable price. They accept my insurance (VSP) and I've never had an issue with any of the paperwork. Appointments are simple to make. They respond via phone and email. Everything is basically hassle free. I didn't know amazing service existed in the optometry world until I came here. In my rush to use my flex spending account before the year ended, I turned to yelp and found Crest Optometry. Here is where I ended up purchasing two pairs of glasses. The is a new office located in the corner of a medical/health building complex. Though the space is not ginormous, it is newly renovated and bright inside. The office is also equipped with the latest technology, including electronic eye tests. No more memorizing pre-made letter projections! ha ha Fact: the doctor and her friends did almost all of it on their own--PROPS. Frame selection is not endless either, but they have a good selection of high quality frames and brands. Can't remember all of them, but they had La Font, Prada, Oakley, Ray Ban and many other popular brands. There was also an exclusive Japanese line of titanium frames; they were very modern and light weight, but the price tag doesn't suit me just yet. XD After receiving many suggestions from the doctor herself, who spent a generous amount of time with this indecisive client, I ended up going with a pair of Prada frames and Oakley sports frames. It was good knowing how the passion Doctor Pham has for her work. She mentioned that each frame was picked individually to be included in the office. The enthusiasm she has for her work is very apparent in her knowledge and willingness to help. Even though I only came in to look at frames, I told her about an issue with my eyes. Since they weren't busy, she spent some extra time diagnosing what the issue was and provided guidance on how to take acre of it. Sweetness. After making my purchase, I spent some time chatting with the doc and her fiance. They were so cool, suriously. Hey, hey, hey! What do you say? I found a fab new optometrist last Saturday! Gooooooooo, Dr. Pham! BAM! The reviews are true. Dr. Pham and Co. are efficient, polite, personable, and true to their word. Rosette followed up with me via email and phone call prior to the appointment. Dr. Pham was very meticulous during the eye exam and explained everything to me as she went through the process (the what, how, and why). She wanted me to get fitted for new contacts, gave me a free pair to try, said she'd email me on Sunday evening to see how they held up over the weekend--AND SHE EMAILED ME! Ommmgooosh someone who is true to their word!!!!! When I was a loser and didn't promptly email her back, Rosette called me to see how the contact lenses held up. Another plus: the technology. This ain't your granny's optometrist. I signed my HIPPA Laws/waiver/thingy via iPad, paid my credit card via iPhone, read the letters in her exam room off of a computer screen...Dr. Pham is legit! I have been seeing a different eye doctor for the last ten years but I needed a new doctor and found Crest on Yelp. I did not see Dr. Pham. I saw the other doctor at this office. I am sorry but I don't recall her name. She is the doctor who works on Tuesdays and Fridays. She was very professional and I had a pleasant appointment with her. The rest of the team here was terrific. I've had to come in a few different times. Once for my appointment, another time to get my eyes dilated and to pick out glasses and another time to pick up my glasses. I worked very closely with Rosette and she was a pleasure to work with. I've always had great vision, until, fairly recently, I started noticing blurriness, a slight dizziness, and constant eye strain. It was rather unsettling, especially since this wasn't something I had experienced before. Since I don't have vision coverage through insurance, I wanted to find someone I could trust and who would also be affordable to get my eyes checked. I did a search for optometrists on Yelp and found Dr. Pham. The excellent reviews gave me all the confidence I needed to schedule a visit at Crest Optometry, and I was not disappointed. Everyone at the office was welcoming, friendly, and professional. Dr. Pham's assistant Diana was lovely and performed the initial eye tests with me, as well as patiently helped me find the best pair of frames for me at the end of my visit. I've never worn glasses before, so all of them looked weird to me on my face, and I had a hard time narrowing it down to the right pair. Diana was kind and helpful with me in the process. Dr. Pham herself was extremely personable, making the visit feel not just like a clinical experience, but an easy, relaxing time chatting it up with an acquaintance. She explained everything very professionally and calmly, while interjecting tidbits of conversation and showing interest in things relevant to my life experience. She does a fantastic job at making you feel comfortable and professionally cared for at the same time. She explained everything she did and answered any questions that came up for me. I felt in great hands, and, it was all in all a very positive experience. The office is clean, comfortable, and inviting. I'd been a bit worried about what all of this would cost me, but I found the rates to be very reasonable and well worth my while. I'm sure I could have had my eyes checked a bit cheaper at Costco, but I value fostering a relationship with a health care provider that I know I'll be able to come back to over the years and who will know my history, someone who I can tell is excellent at what she does, and that is worth paying a bit extra for me. I did opt for the retina image at the additional cost of $39 (they explain this to you very clearly, and you get to choose whether or not to add that to your visit) and found it to be of value. It was very neat to see a picture of my retina, and reassuring to find out there was nothing on there indicative of any major diseases, such as arterial disease or diabetes. It's a cool, easy and inexpensive diagnostic tool. All in all, I had an excellent experience at Crest Optometry and would highly recommend it! read more

I was searching for an optometrist when I came upon Crest Optometry. Not only did they have a 5-STAR rating, they are located in an area I am very familiar with. So I decided to give Crest Optometry a chance, and I am so very glad I did. Every single positive review I read was accurate. All the women in the front office were friendly and attentive, and I was immediately comfortable in this new space. The young lady conducting the initial eye evaluation immediately made me feel at ease with her warm smile. Now Dr. Pham, a Warriors fan, so she's all good in my book! It had been a while since I've seen an optometrist so figured it was time. This was a lovely experience! Not only was all the staff I interacted with great but I also noticed how carefully they clean things. One even cleaned just in case. I really appreciated that. The selection of frames was alright but elsewhere can be more. The usual car salesperson type thing happened when it came to that, except I felt no pressure to go for the more expensive options. I even felt like they were informative when I was choosing between things. I'm very happy with my new glasses especially that the maker will donate a pair to someone in need. read more

While the receptionist and staff are very professional and friendly, I strongly discourage you from using Dr. Pham. While she appears very sweet, the only thing she truly cares about is revenue. I had my eye exam at their branch on Morrison Ave few days before Thanksgiving. I was shocked to see they had a very green and junior person who did not seem to know what she was doing when trying to set up the equipment, and she did not even wipe down any of the surfaces she was asking me to put my chin down on. When going over my paperwork, she did not know what "Lazy eye" condition was and thought I was talking about Lasik. When I made mention of it to Dr. Pham, she just rolled her eyes and defended by saying she is new and shy and not good with people and someone has to give her a job. They had over booked appointments so Dr. Pham rushed me thru my exam so much so that when she told me she was going to put eye drops to dilate my eyes, I asked if I could wash my eye make up off Dr. Pham told me not to bother it will not be a problem. The eye drop washed my mascara into my eyes and my eyes started burning. Still she would not let me wash my eyes in order to keep the drops in. She would not take the time to properly address my questions as she seemed in a real rush. However when it came down to selling me on the idea of getting prescription sunglasses, she was happy to take the time to explain to sell me on the benefits. I ended up with eye irritation that grew into a massive eye infection few days later on the night before Thanksgiving and when I called her to let her know I was in excruciating pain and asked if the eye make up might have been the cause or the lack of observing proper hygiene at her office, she got very upset. She said she had pretty good idea what my condition was, but that she was reluctant to share the name with me and said I would have to be seen at her office and furthermore she would have to charge me a medical visit, and I would have to get there in 1/2 hour because she wanted to close the office and send her staff home early. I told Dr. Pham I will never visit her again. I ended up having to cancel Thanksgiving and endured much pain and suffering as result of the infection caused by their ignorance and lack of observing basic rules of hygiene. I felt so strongly about this situation, I complained to VSP about it and they offered me another free exam at another optometrist. I am extremely pleased with my new doctor who puts patients above money and personal time considerations. If you care about the health of your eyes, you might want to reconsider vising Crest Optometry. Even one star is too much rating for this Doctor. read more

I'm not very familiar with how getting an appointment or buying contacts as I am new in this country and from where I was, we can just go to an eye clinic and order the contact lens we need. Cute small little shop Been wanting to check this shop out for awhile and I'm so glad that I did! Walked in and was immediately greeted by two lovely staff members. My husband has never worn glasses and he's so picky and the men's selection in most shops are pretty limited but Crest has an amazing selection for everyone in my family. As for glasses, it's kind of like buying a car. I went in expecting to walk out with nothing or if anything, maybe a used compact car. But instead, I walked out with a brand spanking new...... well, compact car still. But, at least I got power windows, mud guards, and a year of Satellite Radio! My whole life I have never worn glasses. But, I have been noticing that I'm having to move things around when I read. Could be old age.......uhm, better age...... or maybe I might need glasses. Before my appointment, I filled out some paperwork online, so I would be stuck filling it out a hard copy at the office. Works for me! I got email and text notifications a few days before my appointment, which was great, because I forget due to my old age........ uhm, I mean, because I'm swamped at work. When I get to my appointment, I check in and then Elaine (I think that was her name) goes over a few forms (by iPad to make it easier) and off we go to a few preliminary tests before seeing Dr. Pham. Easy Peasy. After a few minutes, I see Dr. Pham and we go thru the usual eye exams like reading this line and that line, cover this eye and look at this over here, numbing your eye balls.......wait, what?!? Numbing my eye balls? This is where I turn into Rachel from Friends! But, just like her, I don't want a glass eye, so I okay the drops. No big deal. Felt weird, but no problem. Dr. Pham was very personable, answered all the questions I had, and explained everything to the Eye Doctor wuss that's known as Jamie. She prescribed computer glasses to me (I didn't even know there was such a thing) and she showed me what it would look like thru them. We then went out and she personally went thru some of her recommendations in terms of frames. She didn't try to push the most expensive ones, but she went thru the ones that would make me feel comfortable wearing. After I chose a pair, the friendly Christina helped me thru the rest of the paperwork and other options. Again, she walked thru the options with me, but didn't push the most expensive. When I called to enquire about the charges they told me $80 for the eye exam. But final bill was $189 They said if they file with insurance they charge extra. That was never explained when I had asked about charges But I did ask for an additional $39 dilation exam They were also charging me extra $39 for photo which I did know was extra. Apparently it is hidden somewhere in the form they make you fill out So they took that charge out I did not like their charge policies felt like unexplained and hidden charges.
