My husband and I came here for breakfast after a hike on a Saturday. They weren't too busy because the rush had already died down. We decided to sit outside because it was a beautiful day. They have a nice seating area outside that is quiet and you can hear the surrounding water fountains, which was nice. However, there were a couple tables outside that were still messy with plates and food left on the tables that hadn't been cleaned up yet. I feel that it's important to immediately bus and wipe down the tables once people leave because it is a reflection of how clean your restaurant is. Especially if it wasn't too busy, then this should really be taken care of. Our server was SO nice and on top of it. I could tell that he was a genuinely sweet person. I ordered the breakfast burrito with eggs, cheese, potatoes, sausage, and bacon. It also came with salsa. This was a pretty good breakfast burrito! Went there for breakfast this morning and I have to say I was surprised! With such mixed reviews I didn't know what to expect but my experience was really good. New cooks maybe?? The only negative thing I'd have to say would be that they didn't have flavored creamers for my coffee but that's just an added perk of some restaurants. The service was good and my coffee cup and drinks were never empty. My friend and I shared meals. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs & The Crazy Waffle which was a Belgian waffle with peanut butter drizzle, sliced bananas, whipped cream and powder sugar. They served it with multiple options of warm syrup! The gravy on the chicken fried steak was great. We were not disappointed , we will be back again! This place is a hidden gem of yummy comfort foods. Moving to Riverside opened up more locations for me to search by way of yelp. Kind of fun to do and since Riverside is a larger location more choices to choose from. The reviews to this place are hit or miss. (I had a sip of it) I ordered Chicken Fried steak, received the same home-style potatoes (a bit over cook in places but ok) and biscuit and gravy. Luckily it was really good and I had no problem finishing it off before there was any real danger. The Liver was very tender and moist. Like a super tender steak actually. And it looked like one too. Tons of onions and two slices of bacon on top. I wasn't sure how the bacon would be involved in the dish and it was kind of a let down. But again it's bacon!! So I ate the two strips and moved on. I am used to there being a little gravy with liver and onions. Here they don't have gravy with it. It was moist though and didn't need it. Though I think I would prefer the gravy with liver and onions normally. I had to add a bit of salt. This seemed like the theme because my veggies though cook well also needed added salt. I assume they do this because some people can't have the salt. But since the salt shaker is on the table this was not an issue. So came here two days in a row and had no problems. Actually combined visits earned the 5 stars. If we had just came for breakfast might have only got 4 stars and that would have been a disservice for this place. Waitress took care of us and kept checking back with us to make sure we had what we needed. 2nd visit my girl cleaned her plate (something she normally doesn't do) and the waitress joked "so you didn't like it? Walked in and greeted immediately by a tall fellow. Great start. Looks a little dirty. Used the restroom and the faucet was leaking all over the top of the sink. Toilet was clogged. I cleared it myself to use it. No plunger on the side. I used the toilet brush. Ordered orange juice and it tasted old. My glass had a piece of cheese that was stuck and dried on the outside. Team walks around and looks bothered or disgruntled. Maybe all the complaints. Unfortunate. Atmosphere is not bad. Has a ton of potential. They should do a remodel and take it to the next level. Food also took quite a bit to come out. Juice was not as good. Couldn't finish it. Ordered a Pepsi and too much carbonation. Ordered a water and pure tap!!! Yikes. Food looked gorgeous but had ZERO flavor. Needed salt. Everything. I got the breakfast burrito and how do you not have flavor with sausage, egg, cheese, potatoes and bell peppers. Shocked. Plus side they did bring warm bottles of syrup. That was a good touch. Overall, we will not be back unfortunately and I apologize for leaving a less than better review. Can I leave negative stars? My sister and I were there last Sunday for breakfast, or rather tried to have breakfast. Since we had my two small dogs, my sister went in and got a table for us on the patio. The waitress that escorted her didn't take drink orders or say anything, just put the menus on the table and walked away. After sitting at the table for over ten minutes with no one else acknowledging us or taking our drink order, I went to find our waitress. Another waitress told me they were really busy but someone would be out to us shortly. There weren't that many people there so I was doubtful, but I still went back to the table and waited. After another fifteen minutes and NOT ONE PERSON coming to our table, I went back inside. Found our waitress and I let here know we had been sitting out there for over twenty minutes and hadn't even placed our drink order yet, she just (rudely) said it was really busy. That was it! No apologies, not acknowledgement of the utter lack of service, not even any sympathy, NOTHING! I was even polite despite being very annoyed. Her response was basically an invitation to leave. So we left hungry, sad, and more than a little upset. This is especially unfortunate since I recently moved a block away from this shopping center and was hoping to find a yummy breakfast spot I could frequent. I'm glad I was brought here and read the reviews later. First, I've never had a problem with their service. We typically come here on Sundays after noon. We never have to wait to be seated and the waitresses are always very accommodating, offering other options for sides and making great recommendations. Once the food is brought out they check on us regularly. We've come here quite a few times and the food is great. The breakfast portions are huge and the offer egg whites as an alternative for your omelets. I love the veggie omelette. You can't go wrong with the chicken avocado sandwich! They also have a Mexican food menu as well. Some may think the prices area high but take into consideration the servings are not skimpy. You get a lot of bang for your buck. The servings are huge! What an experience! I knew this shopping center was a jewel and I never got to truly experience all it has to offer. I was here just to take care of some business and was waiting for another local service to finish and had a waiting period of an hour. I was looking for a place to kill time and do some reading and decided to walk into one of the restaurants. Crest Café made my short stop a nostalgic and yummy experience! The music reminded me of a old cafe diner, which shouldn't be a surprise considering it's a cafe. At the time it didn't register to me that such a mom and pop would be the best place to hear oldies music. I felt like I was teleported from my regular daily routine in life to a time out of this world! It's so nice to be taken cafe of staff who sincerely do care about their customers. Brenda and Kim were so friendly and welcoming, I felt so happy and honored, it was truly a relief and a peace that I needed. So many places have forgotten what real service entails and this place reminded me how rewarding and blessed it is to be able to sit down and have someone who truly love what they do show you their work. The staff here reminded me how lucky we are to be able to sit down and have a delicious drink and meal and enjoy the atmosphere of the Crest Canyon shopping center! I will be back soon!
