Came here on a recommendation from a friend to try the Philly cheesesteak, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The location is a bit tucked away with not much foot traffic, but when I visited, the place was busy--which is always a good sign. Alright, this place has been hyped up for their Philly cheesesteak, so I had to check it out. If you're a Philly cheesesteak fan, you already know it's not easy finding a legit spot. Took my wife with me and we ordered the Philly cheesesteak and the smashed burger. I'd give both a solid 4 stars. The cheesesteak definitely brings the flavor. No complaints there. My only thing is the extra heavy cheese and the overall presentation. I get it, some people love that overloaded look, but for me, it just didn't look that appetizing. Still a good sandwich though, no doubt. You can't please everyone. The smashed burger was decent. Nothing crazy, but it gets the job done. Now let's talk about the location. This place is tucked deep in an industrial area, and it's not exactly convenient unless you're already nearby. Deep in an industrial zone, tucked inside what basically feels like a warehouse. Not exactly screaming "let's dine here." Also, the wait time... yeah. Our food took a while, and we weren't the only ones noticing. Another customer was waiting on a pizza and was clearly frustrated. This place is so, so, so good. Tucked in a business park, it's unsuspecting to find such an amazing place with such great service. We ordered the cheesesteak sandwich and a large half pepperoni and half cheese pizza. We were greeted by the owner who also makes the food, and he is so nice and outgoing. We really appreciated his great personality and welcoming demeanor. The decor is nice and inviting. The sandwich was absolutely delicious and all the flavors complimented each other - the soft, fresh bread they make there in the restaurant, the chipotle mayo, the white cheese, the handmade sliced ribeye meat... just epic. The pizza crust is nice and chewy with a slight crisp, the sauce is delicious and rich. We loved it. The owner informed us that they have secret menu items that they post on their Instagram just about daily, so make sure to follow them on Instagram too so you can see the special secret stuff that they make. We were very lucky to partake in their rotational desert menu because we had some of the best cheesecake we've ever had.. we ordered the banana cheesecake and the plain cheesecake with berries on top and both of them were excellent. It was a tough pick, but we would say the banana barely edged out the berry. We can't wait to go back and try the pastrami sandwich and something off the secret menu. Long time coming for a review after many visits, but we're here now. Rivercrust Deli is worth the visit if you live in the area or don't, it's a must to make a visit. Everyone raves about the Philly because it is phenomenal & different with a great twist to the point where every visit I get one no matter what. BUT the burgers, wings, pizzas, pastrami, fries (loaded or regular), cold sandwiches, are all worth a try--because honestly, everything is pretty damn good here. Ok, don't get me wrong the pastrami sandwich was good, but not $16 good. I say it's a perfect $11 with tax. The pastrami was very tasty and the bread was nice and soft, yet fresh. But small portion for the amount I paid. Ambiance, well it's just a hole in the wall commercial deli and it did take a long time to prepare the order. Could just hear the staff BS in the kitchen. My review is based on my first visit, ordering the Philly Cheesesteak. I'm all about different variations of a Cheesesteak, so if you are looking for an authentic Philly Cheesesteak, this is not the place. The Cheesesteak comes on a large puffy almost dinner roll type of bread which was okay but could have been a bit more crusty on the outside to give it more texture. I think the sandwich would have been good had it not been overcooked (scorched) which caused the thin ribeye to have a hard hamburger like texture. The burnt taste made the meat, onion and mushroom indistinguishable from each other. Luckily the chipotle mayo made the sandwich edible. Please train your cook how to properly make this sandwich, because it's probably really good. I'll try this place again, hopefully having a better experience. So a while back, I picked up and order (DoorDash) from this small hidden gem (unbeknownst to me at that time) the order smelled so good, so I told myself, I gotta try this place, I finally had the pleasure to try it, I called in my order, the 10" supreme, was my order, but my concern was if the dough was going to hold well with all the toppings, which is what I asked the friendly young lady when she took my order and she said "yes, it will hold up well". So I order the 10" supreme combo (w/ chips & a coke). After my second slice, I realized she was absolutely correct. Great dough and the pizza tasted great. Will definitely be going back. This time around I wanted a cold sandwich so I went the Italian sub and my wife went with the Philly cheese steak which she said was good. I also ordered the secret menu Philly Cheese steak fries which was pretty good. I hate to say it, but I didn't care for their Italian sub. Yes, the bread is super soft but it didn't do anything for this sandwich. I only ended up eating half, but ate the other half later on at night but i made my own additions. I added a slice of swiss, mayo and mustard and the sandwich turned out really good.
