My wife and I stopped in for lunch today. While looking over the menu, my wife became a bit discouraged when she noticed that any substitutions or added items came with a pretty significant upcharge. Because of that, she decided to just order a standard meal and plan to take it home. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad and requested a little extra dressing on the side. When the food arrived, it was actually very good--the salad was tasty and they were plenty generous with the chicken. However, the issue came when we got the bill. I noticed a $2.25 charge just for the extra side of dressing. My complaint isn't necessarily that there *is* a charge, but rather that it wasn't stated beforehand. There was no mention of it when ordering, and in my opinion, $2.25 for a simple side of Caesar dressing is excessive. We finished our meal and left, but between the heavy substitution fees and the surprise dressing charge, the customer service policy here feels a bit nickle-and-dime. Good food, but transparency on their pricing could definitely be improved. read more

Husband and I came in today while waiting for services for my dogs to be done and all I have is 1 word which is WOW !!!! Food is to die for. Coffee is great. This has got to be my new favorite breakfast/ brunch spot. For starters the employees and owners are friendly, welcoming and attentive with coffee refills . I kid you not my eyes popped out my sockets upon seeing our bowl of fruits placed in front of us. Its pile high of fresh strawberries, bananas, cantaloupe and preserved peaches . My sincerest apologies for not doing sooner. Joanna's Cafe has been one of my favorite spots here in Riverside for over 3 years now. I just happened to walk in one day because it was very close to my destination. And what a pleasant surprise. The stag was very welcoming and friendly. I never have to wait for a table and service is quick. The food has yet to let me down. Today I tried the biscuits and gravy. It comes with house potatoes and 3 eggs. It was so delicious. ( I'll attach a picture). I would suggest you give this place a try if you find yourself in the Riverside area. The food here is really good. And the portions are more than enough lol. Greeted as soon as I entered. The wait is not long since I came in before 8am. The food is to my taste, not too bland or salty. I ordered the Denver Omelette, hash brown and biscuit and gravy. My third time here, twice by myself. It gets packed right around 8:30 am on a weekday, I've been here for 3 different days. Very calming and peaceful in my favorite spot, the corner most booth by the left as soon as you enter. Today, I get to observed two different families (complete strangers) joking around. The other table being elders and another, a teen with his mom and an elder. The crowd was quite lovely this morning which made me eat in a very relaxed way. I needed this time alone. Food is DELICIOUS. The portions are huge and I'm always leaving stuffed and happy. This is one of my favorite diners and the food is so so so flavorful! I've tried all kinds of things and come here regularly and its presentation and quality is a 10/10 for me. The diner itself has a homey feel and looks nice. The waiters and waitress are very kind and attentive and after coming a couple times I personally know some of them. It gives a small town vibe and while the prices have inflated the food has definitely shown to be worth it in my experiences. In my opinion I'd say that this place beats most breakfast food chains like dennys or ihop in all areas.
