This is a neat little spot with a causal atmosphere. It has a simple lunch line with some Cajun staples - everything I tried was a wonderful representation of the local flavor. Food was served with a smile and you can tell they take pride in what they offer. Don't overlook this one!

You have to check this place out if you're ever in Lafayette, LA. They're only open during the week until I believe 2pm or so, but it's an absolute must if you're in the area. Their plate lunches are so reasonably priced and they give you a TON of food. This has become one of my favorite local hidden gems. On top of the amazing food (so far I've tried the red beans and the chicken fricasse), they're always so kind and are genuinely happy to see you pop in. The building is actually a little house, which is so fitting because it feels like you're walking into a friend's place for some amazing home cooked food. If you're ever in Lafayette during the week and need some lunch, come here! You will leave needing a food coma nap.

    Stuffed bread

Thai is the epitome of a hole in the wall restaurant. The pork chops was tasty and very well seasoned. The peas both sweet and black eyed were awesome. Now for the stuffed bread it was the best thing I ate on this entire trip. The mix of the flavors in the bread is exactly what I want when thinking creole this is the flavor.

This place is a hidden gem. It's tucked away in a neighborhood. It's definitely a hole in the wall but it's good ole home cookin'. I got the fried catfish and it was perfectly cooked. My mouth is salivating just thinking about the catfish. I also got two sides: red beans and greens. Both were very tasty. My wife got the chicken fricassee and loved it. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. The only negative was they didn't have sweet tea. They do have sweetener but it's not the same to me. Besides that, this place is 5 stars without a doubt.

Delicious and reasonably priced. Vegetables like mom used to cook. The stuffed bread was excellent.

Creole Lunch House is a little piece of heaven on earth.

This place was absolutely worth getting off IH10 on the drive home from New Orleans. We had the fried pork chop and the smothered pork chop and it was delicious. Spinach is tasty and a little spicy. You can get red beans and rice as a small side, just ask. The cornbread is also tasty. Servers were friendly and courteous. This place is a little piece of heaven on earth. Cafeteria style service. Also, they now take credit cards. Yay!

This place is great. I'm so glad I don't live in Lafayette because I would go here EVERY day and it doesn't exactly fit my diet. I got the fried pork chop and my husband got the chicken fricasse

Tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood on the outskirts of town, you wouldn't know the spring green colored cottage on the corner is the Creole Lunch house save for the small sign in the front and the unmarked gravel parking lot on the side. As you enter the tiny cottage you smell a little grease, seasoning and food cooked with love. Five or so tables are along the right wall across from the main counter and a couple in the front. Seating for about 15 or so people is available inside and there is a plastic table and a few chairs on the front porch in case anyone would want to eat outside. Open for lunch only, Monday- Friday 11:00am-2pm each day features five or six standard plates and, of course, their famous creole stuffed bread is always available. From liver, chicken fricassée, meatballs and red beans and rice on Mondays to fried catfish, shrimp, fried pork chop, catfish coubillion on Friday this is honest food at honest prices.

Their fried pork chop is like big foot, You'll never see it! even chewed the bone like a dog.

Don't let the location fool you, you should stop by. Home style cooking, large portions, and friendly owners. Recommend the stuffed bread.

We tried a few different bites, and everything was exactly what you want from a spot like this -- flavorful, fresh, and satisfying every single time. Food: The food is really the main attraction here. Nothing overly fancy or trying too hard, just consistently good food that delivers every time. Everything we tried was solid, and it's the kind of place where you already know you're leaving happy before you even order. Service: Service was smooth with no issues at all. The staff kept things moving, and the experience was easy from start to finish. Ambiance: Billy's has that classic Louisiana stop-through feel to it. Nothing extravagant, but it doesn't need to be. The food speaks for itself. Overall: Not much to rave about besides the food -- and honestly, that's all it needs. Billy's is officially one of my can't-miss stops anytime I'm driving through Lafayette. I'm never passing this place up.

The cracklins had a little bit of fat and meat on them which I wasn't used to. I'm just used to the fried crispy skin. It tasted more like fried/seasoned pork belly. The seasoning is really good though. My favorite boudin was Billy's more than the smoked one but my fiance liked the smoked flavor more. I wish we took pics but we just ate it in the car. The casing was a little tough to bite through so I sliced it and scooped out the insides. Although the Billy's boudin is good, I don't know if it was good enough to drive from Texas for it. I need to search for more places while I'm here.

There's no host stand or clear seating system, so the entrance felt chaotic. We weren't sure what to do until a nice local told us to just grab a table. After sitting down, it took about 5 mins for a waitress to stop by with the menus. The menu includes both breakfast and lunch items, but the ordering process is confusing. We were told breakfast orders would be taken at the table and lunch needs to be ordered separately at the cafeteria style counter. My husband went to the counter to order lunch while I stayed behind, waiting for the server to return with drinks and take our breakfast order, she never did. The smothered pork dish looked worse than school cafeteria, and unfortunately tasted like it too. It was overly salty and the pork had a weird taste to it. Since we had already paid for the lunch item upfront and still hadn't been able to place breakfast order, we decided to cut our losses and went to another restaurant. Overall, wasted 35 mins and left frustrated and disappointed, definitely won't come back!

The main issue here is the overall service experience and the food quality. The interior is old school but immediately chaos; there is a Luby's style ready serve food line and tables as well for dine in. We didn't know but apparently you just find a table and sit down, we were standing around waiting to be seated for a bit. Apparently you order lunch plates at this hot food line and then order breakfast via your server at the table. This makes no sense. We waited 35 minutes for staff to take our breakfast order and beverages unsuccessfully, so I went up and ordered a lunch plate of smothered pork and just paid up front. The guy working the ready made food line was also pretty rude and didn't want to be there; great! It was definitely below Treebeard's level and was very salty and not very flavorful. The sauce that they poured on the rice was extremely salty as well. Meh food quality and the absolute chaos of the brunch dining experience made the brunch meal very unenjoyable for our group. We left afterwards and went to another restaurant to eat.

Our wait was quoted at 40 minutes, and it was fairly accurate. They have a full bar to grab a drink and chat with friends while you wait. You can also grab a drink and stand alone in the corner, but that would be creepy as hell. Once seated, I was ready for some food. My kid and I shared some of their firecracker chargrilled oysters, and they were wonderful. Ensure your order has charbroiled oyster,s and you will be happy. The table also had an order of fried onion rings, and they, too, were excellent. My entrée was fried shrimp. When it arrived, I was concerned as the batter looked a little darker than I am used to.
