We came to Creepies for a special occasion dinner. We didn't realize when booking that we reserved a seat at the wall table which is essentially a ledge with some stools. It was a bit of an uncomfortable spot and we had to squeeze the plates to fit. The food was interesting. The flavor profiles were unique and we tried things that we didn't expect. The warm Brie gougeres had the potential to be good but they were overflowing with Brie. I did enjoy the freekeh crepe and the little gem salad. Overall, it was good to try once but I'm not sure I would go back.

Chicken in liver and wine sauce

Creepies could be worth a visit just to see the restrooms. They are gorgeous single serving affairs, with an old fashioned toilet - you know, the box and the chain thing. At first glance, you might think you could tape a gun behind it. The tragedy, though, is that there is no room between the box and the wall, foiling your scheme to kill the corrupt Chief of Police and the Turkish Gangster who wants to kill your father for withholding political protection for his burgeoning heroin market. Missed opportunity or prudent crime prevention strategy? You make the call. As for the rest of the evening, there is good news, and bad news. Let's start with the good. Their cocktails are barrelled, and they are quite good. My noble Bourbon Boozers will enjoy the Corpse Reviver #1, rarely seen on restaurants cocktail lists. Bread and butter is excellent, as are the gruyeres - small bites that seem to be glazed in honey. The Parisian gnocchi with ham, swiss, and egg yolk is a heavy, gooey delight that is quite shareable. For entrees, the Dover sole was a large cut at a very affordable price. Perfectly flaky, but I didn't care for the elderflower sauce - I would have preferred butter. The chicken in liver sauce is large - half a bird. Leg and thigh were great but the breast was dry. Gently crispy skin, and a strong, earthy sauce. For the dessert, the baguette soft serve was good, but the malty addition to the vanilla soft serve was a bit too subtle to notice. But simply vanilla soft serve is still good. For the bad, its primarily the wine list. The wine list is entirely natural wines, and the important thing to know about natural wines is that they are an acquired taste. (Put simply, they are awful.) Specifically, natural whites all taste like cider, with various degrees of sour funk compounding the assault. Natural reds are thin, devoid of fruit and highly astringent. You can almost feel your enamel being eaten away as you drink them. In a word, unpleasant. And I say this as someone who enjoys earthy Old World wines redolent of barnyards. Natural wines, I find, are a bridge too far. You'll find no elegant Bordeaux reds or crisp Burgundy whites here. I specifically requested the least natural of the natural whites, and the server - to her credit - was helpful in finding it for me. However, it was still funking things up a bit in the glass. You have been warned. A final note for accessibility. There is a small - 3-4 inch - step to get in the restaurant. If you have a companion or can pop a wheelie independently, it is entirely manageable. The front room is a tight squeeze but there are plenty of tables and banquettes that can handle a chair. Two of the restrooms are fully ADA accessible, as well.

Small restaurant so be sure to make a reservation! Also note that the bar seating is pretty tight (both the countertop and seating space), so if you prefer to have more space, don't go with bar seating. Staff were friendly and helpful being that it was our first time. We were there for brunch and overall it was very enjoyable. The steak was beautifully cook and tasty! Warm brie with honey, love the sweet and savory combo. The croque monsieur and the eggs mayonnaise on their own were pretty basic, but together (a bite of egg mayo on top of a bite of croque monsieur), they were delicious! We got both desserts, the tutti fruitti soft serve and the chocolate mousse cake, both were good but not like wow. I was really wanting the baguette soft serve so I guess I'll need to return for their dinner service

Creepies has a beautifully moody and intimate ambiance, with dim lighting, candlelit tables, and a cozy, sophisticated vibe. The food was the highlight, with unique dishes and distinct, memorable flavours that felt creative and different. The menu was a little hard to navigate at first, and a bit more guidance from the staff would have made choosing dishes easier. The service could also have been more attentive overall. Still, definitely worth a visit for the food and atmosphere.

After seeing various postings on social media for Creepies as an exciting addition to the Chicago food scene, I was enthusiastic to try it! I was able to secure a prime time reservation on a Friday, which was not easy. We were seated at the counter - which is a generous use of the term. You're seated against a mirrored wall, which was great for people watching but not for seeing yourself eat. It was a little awkward, but it was fine. Now, the food - It was okay. The dishes we tried lacked any sort of wow-factor that you might expect for a place that was highly regarded. We ordered: - Warm brie gougères 3/5. The pastry was good but it had an overpowering amount of Brie. The proportion of pastry to cheese wasn't ideal. - Leeks vinaigrette with almonds and dill 4/5. One of the better dishes we had. The leeks and dill complimented each other well. - Little gem w/ parsley root, apple & sunflower seeds 4/5. Standard salad, not much to add. - Freekeh crepe w/ artichoke, spring onion & fromage blanc 5/5. Great flavor and great texture on the crepe. Best dish we had. - Asparagus w/ hazelnuts & brown butter 4/5. The parts of the asparagus that soaked in some of the brown butter were delicious, otherwise it was bland. Given the prices and the competition for reservations, Creepies was a bit of a disappointment.

Very eclectic experience at Creepies. From the menu to the dishes, to the plates, everything was unique and presented in their own way. In my opinion, some of the must order dishes are: Warm Brie Gougeres - buttery, cheesy, delicious Saucisson - the mustard with this was so good. Parisian gnocchi - savory and buttery. Freekeh crepe - umami and herbal. Roasted chicken - very much a French dish and a classic Baguette soft serve - instagrammy but also delicious Parisian food isn't my favorite, but Creepies helped me expand my horizons to enjoy a few dishes I may have not tried if I was elsewhere. Definitely worth a try!

OK, yup did not disappoint!!! Thankfully, we got to go here for supper club because I've been wanting to go here since it opened. Everything was a hit! We tried the sunchoke croquettes, Brie bites, Gem salad, Chicken dish, Fries, gnocchi, Beans and butterscotch custard. My favorites were definitely the croquettes, the gnocchi and the bites because they were so flavorful & had a decadent profile. Genuinely thinking about when I could go back and get those dishes again. I also got the vesper batch martini. Something to know is they do not have a full bar, but they have around five drinks and many wines. I agree with the reviews that they take the idea of a French bistro and reinvented in such an appealing a new way. I feel like, especially in Westloop, it is hard to feel inventive and different, but somehow they do that. Yeah, atmosphere almost feels like an old 70s deco Home and it really does have slightly creepy vibes. Even down to the service, they were very monochrome fits, and the whole appearance is slightly offputting, which matches the energy of the place. I appreciate what they're doing here and honestly, I'm 100% on board- would go back!

The name caught our attention and we were able to make a same day reservation to try this a try. The menu is very interesting with the different choices of ingredients and sauce pairing and I must say- they do an amazing job on the sauces on every single dish. My favorite has to be the celeriac dauphinois w/ escargot; the creamy buttery flavor is so perfect with the escargot topped with thin sliced of potatoes (I believe). Could not get enough of it! My second favor was the gnocchi. Again surprised with with the delicious sauce and the crispy top layer gave it an extra interesting texture to every bite of soft, spongy gnocchi. Other dishes we tried were roasted carrots, saucisson, and blanquette de veau. They were tasty but not my favorite and honestly wouldn't get it again if I were to visit again. Overall great experience with amazing service inside a well designed restaurant.

We shared: 1. baguette soft serve w/ chocolate & brown butter crumbs 2. saucisson w/ puff pastry & pistachio 3. roasted lamb w/ swiss chard & herbs de provence 4. tarte flambé, tavern style 5. roasted chicken w/ liver & wine sauce 6. savoy cabbage w/ whipped sesame cream We started with the saucisson and tarte flambe. Saucisson was tasty, well executed, a fancy sausage roll. Tarte flambe was cracker thin crispy and super flavorful. So good I wish it was thicker like a pizza. Savoy cabbage was mild and light which I appreciate on a "salad". The signature roast chicken was okay, I've had juicier chicken but the sauce was fantastic. The lamb was excellent, big, juicy, and flavorful. Baguette soft serve was a satisfying and perfect end to the meal. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Ambience is nicely lit and not loud.

Creepies has a great atmosphere and I think the branding is so fun. I loved the branded plates and the Sabre silverware is a nice touch. Overall, service was great and the waiter seemed really knowledgeable about everything from the wine to the dishes. As a general note, I wish the food was hotter in temperature. We had the gougeres and they were delicious but they were just warm and I think they'd be better hot. The mussels had a great flavor but the foam was interesting. The gnocchi was very good and so was the chicken. I really liked the sauce the chicken was served in. For dessert, we had the butterscotch custard which was really good! I liked the lemon but it is lemony if you don't like that.

Well selected wine list and food menu. The chicken was standout! Definitely top roast chicken in the city. The fries mimic the perfectly crispy outside and soft inside of the breast and skin on the dish. Service was a bit stuffy but I guess that is par for the course in Fulton market these days.. that said they tried to be family friendly in seating us in a booth with our toddler but made zero other accommodations for our little.

Cute new addition to the west loop! Loved the vibe in here it was elevated but still cozy. Our waiter was so great he really understood our vibe. I'd opt for getting a wine vs cocktail as they told us there's no in-house bar. Most of the dishes were great, and all things we've never tried before. The carrots we could have passed on as they were too sweet, and the celeriac was so rich it was overwhelming. The lamb was perfectly cooked. The baguette ice cream was so fun and one of my favs of the night. Overall it's a bit of an experimental menu. Everything was good but I wasn't blown away by everything.

A friend and I met up at Creepie's for a weeknight dinner. The service was good. We did reserve patio seating, but it was quite cold and there were no heaters outside. It definitely could've used some lighting outside, as it was kind of dark. As for the food, there were a few vegetarian options, which was a plus for me, given that it was a very French menu. Unfortunately, a lot of the things that we ordered were on the saltier side, which took away from the overall taste. My favorite things on the menu were the french fries and the baguette soft serve dessert.

The fact I had a vegetarian lunch and loved it speaks volumes on the level of execution here. The beet nicoise sandwich was a revelation.

Food and service were good, nice wine list, but just not worth the $$$$ - similar to our dining experience at Elske.

This menu was anything but tiny and delivered big on EXPERIENCE. Last time, we saw Chef Izard expediting the line and everything ran like a well-oiled machine. This time, Chef Izard wasn't here but her restaurant still ran with the same precision and impeccable eye for quality of food, service, and ambiance. Our server was Luis (and his team) and we sat at the kitchen bar. We were greeted with genuine warmth and a champagne toast. We will remember Luis and will ask for him again. The menu items on this six-course Tiniest Goat experience were ANYTHING but tiny. The flavors were even BEYOND what we'd come to expect having eaten here previously and at Chef Izard's LA rooftop dining experience. The menu items were a fusion of Chicagoat, Asian, and California fresh! The braised goat with persimmons was an unexpected delight, as was every single course. We've had great goat empanadas here before. My husband lived in the DR before where he'd thought he had the best goat ever, but Chef Izard's team surpassed his high expectations. Chef Preston was personable and made the experience unlike we'd had before in the best possible ways. It was interactive. We got to experience firsthand what we saw last time only closer up, which was a team that works exceptionally well with each other AND truly loves what they do. They were also having fun and kind to one another. Well Done, BRAVO!

We understood that it was busy, but being texted that our table was ready only to wait another 15 minutes in a tiny entry hallway was frustrating. When I asked for an update, the hostess was dismissive, which made the situation even more unpleasant. Once we were finally seated, it took about 10 minutes for our waitress to greet us. We ordered wings and single burgers. The food was hot, but our burgers and fries came out at completely different times because the kitchen was supposedly "backed up." For the price and the hype surrounding this place, I expected a much better overall experience. The burger was decent, but honestly, nowhere near worth a 2.5-hour wait, and the prices felt high for a burger and fries. I can appreciate that restaurants get busy, but the communication, service, and timing of the food could have been much better. Overall, I wouldn't wait 2.5 hours to eat here again. I guess they call it a diner because it's small, with seating for only about 50 people between the tables and bar. I loved the atmosphere. It has a somewhat old-school feel that fits the place perfectly. We ordered the Single Cheeseburger, which is actually two patties, and added the thick-cut bacon. Depending on your appetite, it's easy to split and still get your fill. The French Fries arrived hot and fresh from the fryer. We also tried the General Jane's Honey-Fried Chicken with chili, sesame seeds and cilantro. It's listed as a starter, but the portion is large and definitely enough to share. The coating is a little messy, so I appreciated the wet towels they provided for cleaning your hands. For dessert, we shared the Mille Feuille, a light puff pastry served with vanilla ice cream. It was the perfect way to finish the meal. Overall, this was a great meal at a reasonable price, especially considering the restaurant's reputation. I wish our server had been a little more attentive, but Au Cheval lived up to our expectations

We were put on standby and surprisingly, for it being Chicago on a Friday night, an hour later, we were seated in a small cove, at a window, at the front lounge of the restaurant. For dinner, we had a chicken parmigiana and rolled lasagna, both which were amazing and I would definitely recommend either dish and while we were seated in a converted dining spot, we were able to view Merchandise Mart, the passing traffic, the daredevils on the electric bikes and the people walking by, which was oddly, an interesting form of entertainment. The host was extremely friendly and understanding, our waitress (I believe her name was Katie) was extremely attentive and the food was delicious. The restaurant itself is very small, maybe 20 tables inside and 4 outside (hence the need for a reservation), but it was busy the entire time we were there. For the many amazing eateries in Chicago, this is one that I would place up against all the others but if you decide to dine here, make sure to call ahead for a reservation to guarantee being seated quicker however, if you do not do so, expect an hour wait or longer with possibly one of the most unique views in the place.

My main issue is that the appetizer - the halloumi - was the best dish. The brussels sprouts that came out were charred crisp on the outside and creamy on the insides - which is ideal - except that the flavor was very one-note. If you eat one, then every other one on the plate is pretty much just that again. The problem is that it lacked that feeling of "moreism" that you need if you're going to go with a very simple flavor profile. They tasted fine, but nothing about these made me want to just keep eating them. We also had the crispy mushrooms which likewise had a very similar issue of being one-note. This was notably better than the sprouts though because they came was a very tasty tzatziki sauce that saved the dish, but the sauce shouldn't be the star of a dish like this.
