I visited creature studio for the first time and saw Mikky! They did an absolutely incredible job with my hair. They asked all the right questions so that they could give me exactly what I wanted. I have never walked out of a salon happier especially since I have curly hair and it's much harder to style. Running 25 mins late for first appt - stylist blamed this on a system booking error. I chalked this up to system error and decided to give them a second chance. Running 20 mins late for second appt and front desk lady promised the stylist would be 5 more mins with the last client (without checking with stylist), after I left her know I was on a tight timeline with a work meeting. 20 minutes went by with no update. I did stop by the front desk and let the front desk person know I likely would not be getting my hair cut due to work commitment and the stylists tardiness. stylist came up to me at 20 mins past my scheduled appt time and told me they could get me back. I provided feedback I had a hard stop due to a work meeting and likely couldn't flex. They asked if I could MOVE my work meeting. No words...they also offered to cut and wash me and let me leave with wet hair. Again, no words. Why would I pay over $100 for a cut and wash when I wanted a beautiful blowout? They then asked to rebook me at a 30% discount on services. I responded with "I'm so sorry - I value my time more than a discount." And departed the premises. I mostly blame the front desk person for not checking with the stylist. However, the lack of accountability from stylist (owning the issue / apologizing for tardiness), offering bad solutions (asking me to move a work meeting, or be cut and left with wet hair), was also a sign that this wasn't the right salon for me. read more

I cannot recommend this studio and Carly specifically enough! A good friend of mine referred me after I unloaded on my past haircut struggles (including a surprise bob that was uneven.... no joke!) and I finally set up an appointment. It was easy to do online and took next to no time at all. Upon arriving to my appointment, I was able to sign in, I enjoyed the ambiance of the studio, where I was offered a brewed tea as I already had my water bottle - how nice! Carly came up and was from the start was so enthusiastic, kind, and knowledgeable. I dumped my previous haircut woes on them, showed them dozens of different inspo pictures (pointing out what I liked in each of them and what I did not like too) and they took all of what I said and gave me my honest to god dream haircut. They kept our conversation going, it felt natural and you can tell they genuinely loves their job. During the styling of my hair, they were kind enough to even explain to me how to style my bangs - and answered all of my follow up questions! As someone with thick, wavy hair - I have struggled most of my life to find a hair stylist and studio for me. I am happy to report that my struggle is OVER! I loved this studio primarily bc it used and sold beautiful organic products. If you're not in the biz you may not realize how toxic traditional hair care products can be for you the customer... but MOSTLY for the salon staff. Just consider how often their hands are exposed to those chemicals all day, everyday. Last year Creature Studio changed from Oway products to L'Oréal products. Amazing haircut by Angel! I'm so happy with it. My fine, straight hair can be a bit fussy and resistant to looking awesome, but Angel handled it all. I basically went in and was like, can you just make this mane look decent? Above and beyond, it was gorgeous. Went over to hang with friends after getting it done and they literally did a double take and told me I looked like a 70s supermodel, which is about the highest praise my crew can give. Walking in, the client is immediately transported to a tranquil, zen-like place. At my most recent appointment, I was greeted by name by the gentleman at the front desk, who offered me water and invited me to sit while I waited for my stylist to finish with her previous client. The waiting area is located along a mural wall illustrated by Yo-Yo Ferro and IT IS BEAUTIFUL. I also love the bespoke stations for stylists that are centered in the room, rather than facing a wall. Cords for hair appliances are stored in the ceiling and stylists can access as needed--leaving the floor space free for other uses. Genius, really. I've never seen a salon set up in this manner. This space is amazing and the staff are all delightful. I've had my hair cut and styled with Hannah Yancey and Jenn Jones in the past, and they always do a stellar job, whether I need just a bit of maintenance or something more in-depth and creative. Finally, it's important to note that this place loves our planet and their clients. I am grateful for their attention to the environment and appreciate that they use only sustainable and organic hair products. read more

I've been with my stylist Ashley for a few years now. She is reliable, knowledgeable, and thoroughly talented. She recently re-located to this salon and I couldn't be happier! The product line is fantastic, the salon is clean, comfortable and stylish. Great vibes, good community, helpful staff. The stylists were all patient and kind when I brought the special needs child I care for in with me. We all had a blast! I would absolutely recommend this salon to everyone! As for the poor review below, I would say that this is an outlier situation. Working with chemicals and hair is not always easy nor is it 100% predictable. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a lengthy Yelp or any other type of public review for that matter. After being a loyal client of over a year to a stylist located all the way in Conyers, GA (a 45 min drive from my Midtown ATL home!) I was quoted an increase of $100 in price for the services I was already receiving as a result of my stylist's new relocation to Creature Salon in Inman Park. Although it was a hard pill to swallow, given my loyalty and the time it takes to build trust with your stylist, (and the new location being closer to me!) I made an appointment to see her at the new salon. During my first visit, I was told that after this appointment my stylist would no longer to be able to utilize the Pulp Riot and Vivid colors that we had been using up until that point. My stylist suggested I move into a more "orange copper" color that they would be able to achieve with similar intensity but using the OWay product line as permanent fix to the issue. As a compromise, and after being sent a reference and inspiration picture, I agreed to try something new. Let's just say this wasn't the "new" I was led to believe would be achievable. After receiving my service, I was immediately unhappy and distraught. I had tears in my eyes as I expressed my disappointment. My hair was nowhere near the picture I was shown- it was dark brownish and dull. The salon manager Adrian and my stylist offered to make me a second appointment where she could apply an additional vibrant orange over the OWay color (at an additional $30 charge on top of the $330 they were ringing me up for the current service that left my once BLEACHED and vivid peach-orange and $400 worth of extension hair a dark reddish-brown). I scheduled the appointment and went home to that terrible moment as a teenager when you get a bad hair cut and cry yourself to sleep at the humiliation! I came back for my next appointment and my stylist was allowed to apply the ORIGINAL line of color she was using prior to her relocation to Creature on top of my now dark brownish hair in hopes of achieving the "vivid copper orange" I was initially promised. This quick fix was no where near the solution to the problem, washed out after a week, and did not achieve nearly the desired look we were going for. I scheduled my next hair appointment, and I was still unhappy with my hair. I texted my stylist to see if she could find a moment to chat with me about a plan for how to approach fixing my color. I was greeted with an email from the salon manager Adrian, asking what I needed. I kindly expressed that I wanted to chat with my stylist at my next upcoming appointment about a plan for my hair color, as I was still unhappy with it. He wrote back explaining that it was simply a difference of opinion, and that the hair color I was originally shown could not always be achieved with the OWay line- and that it was important to their brand image that they not be seen using the other lines of color. He then informed me that my stylist would not be able to schedule any future color appointments as they wanted their clients to leave happy (and I clearly had not)! To be honest, I was saddened and hurt by this response. I had a long relationship and understanding with my stylist about my needs and expectations and never at one point asked for a refund or money back- I even paid the up-charge for the additional color when she was finally allowed to use the original colors on my hair. If they knew they could not achieve the color of the reference picture, they should not have promised and advertised that to me. I did not pick this reference photo mind you- my stylist did. Finally, I sent another email cancelling my appointment. After speaking with another stylist, I was asked whether I could find out if there was a specific process in which to extract the OWay color line, to better assist her in my color correction process. She advised me to send one last email asking for this information, and perhaps to ask if my stylist would be willing to perform this service for me to best prepare my hair for the next color with a new stylist. I followed her advice, and sent an email to Adrian. I have still received no response. (Review Continued in second review) read more

I've been seeing Hannah for over two years for platinum color & cuts. She is talented & funny & sweet - I don't think I'll ever let someone else touch my hair. Creature is beautiful and relaxing. All of the stylists are so nice & fun - I love coming in & talking with everybody (platinum appts are pretty long). I even started coming here for skincare at Ritual & it's so convenient to have one spot for all my beauty biz. If you're going anywhere else, you're doing yourself a disservice. Jenn Jones has been cutting my hair for five years, ever since I moved to Atlanta and was thankfully given her name and contact information by a friend, who had her in NYC. I have wavy hair and don't trust a lot of people with a cut that goes with my style: professional but a little style-forward, and easy to style at home (because I have zero patience with products or hair appliances). My haircut is as good as it gets - I do not go without a week without being stopped by a stranger for a compliment on my haircut and a referral request, even when I just roll out of bed without any products in my hair! She is a genius with color as well - she has a "Best colorist in Atlanta" badge to show for it. Creature Studio is natural, stylish, and relaxing all at the same time. They use all natural products and the place smells like a botanical garden. Staff is super friendly and helpful, booking appointments is a breeze, I feel very well taken care of when I am there. I have difficult hair. I also don't like people. This has led me on a goldilocks style search for a great salon where I can feel at ease and get a great cut/color. Creature Studio is the most welcoming and warm salon environment I've experienced in ATL. It's sunlit and gorgeous with a stunning mural, cool but not pretentious or snobby. Though Jenn is my stylist, everyone I have met there is kind and welcoming while still focusing on their work. They use organic products that make even my thick, unruly hair (think HP movie Hermione before she tames that beast) look sleek. I've had it bleached and done bright colors numerous times and their products are the only ones that leave my hair still soft and healthy and those colors LAST. read more

Review Continued (not enough text space!) Although I do understand that with filters and lighting colors can appear different in photos than real life, this was no difference of opinion. I attach photos of my hair for your reference- the peach where I started, the reference photo I was given, and the end result. I spent over $4000 with my stylist over one year before she relocated to Creature salon, and honestly I felt replaceable and unimportant after two visits to Creature Salon. My hair is a huge part of my brand and image, and Creature made me feel as though their brand and image was more important than my personal satisfaction. They left me unattended and without a solution, and maybe most importantly they made me sorry that I had spent my money with their business. I don't know whether this review will matter to anyone considering visiting Creature for the first time, but if nothing else I hope that it matters to the business owners of Creature Salon. Perhaps with a better understanding of your client perspective you will be able to run your business with a more "client-first" and compassionate attitude, and use this extremely negative client experience to better prepare you for future ones. As someone who runs a business, I would want to know when a long time client feels tossed off after spending almost $700 between their first two appointments. It should be important to all business owners to make their customers (and their hard earned dollars) feel appreciated and valued. read more

Creature Studio always smells good. Always looks nice. Always feels calming. Every time I've set foot inside, I've always been greeted with a smile and offered a beverage. None of that would matter if the staff weren't so good, but they are. The best haircuts I've ever gotten were at Creature Studio, which is why I keep going back. This review is a few years late, but I just remembered the horror I went through here, when another colorist recently mentioned the Oway color line to me and this all came flashing back to me. In 2018, I had a 20 minute consult here with Hannah and showed her tons of pictures on my laptop, which I brought with me, of the caramel color hair I wanted. My hair and extensions were a light brown and I needed some repair to the color. I told her I was a level 7. She said she understood. Once I was sitting with the hair color on, I asked her what level she put on me and she said 6. I told her to please take it off asap because that will make my hair too dark, she refused, left it on 10 minutes and then rinsed it out. I blow dryed it myself and my hair was nearly black. I was in shock. Hannah was off to the next person and didn't even come back to see if I was happy. On my way out, I told the guy who is the receptionist that my hair was too dark and he said "Well at least it looks better than when you came in here". Days later I was miserable because I audition all of the time and my headshots were a completely different hair color. I called and emailed the salon in hopes they could fix it and my expensive extensions that I had in my hair, and was told to use Dawn dish soap to regularly to get the color out. That's all they could do for me. Needless to say, it was a horrible hair salon experience. Not to mention that the guy receptionist has a very superior to you attitude. He is very off putting. Not only that, what kind of hair colorist literally looks at tons of pictures of models with a caramel hair color that I showed them on my computer, and I specifically state that this is the hair color I want, and then ignores that and completely darkens your hair to a nearly black color and doesn't even acknowledge that. I highly recommend not trusting this salon with hair color. Maybe just stick with a cut from here, but definitely not color. read more

this review is not based of any of the stylists whatsoever all the stylist here are amazing and helpful and sympathetic, their boss on the other had, jenn the owner, is a whole other story, she's extremely rude to clients with children, she may not be rude to your face but you can feel the tension in her body language, i started off the service on the lower level of the salon but she quickly moved me to the bad when my child wasn't even being difficult or loud, i was 1/3 clients in the salon and no one in there seemed burdened by my daughter except jenn, she then proceeded to take her frustration out on my stylist (aliza who is amazing y'all should book with her independently not through the salon) she tried to send me out of the salon with wet hair in 40 degree weather for no other reason than my daughter getting fussy as she got tired( which still wasn't loud, i was one singular cry that irritated the owner) as i tried to pickup my child she then proceeded to grab her forcefully to hand her to me even tho i am not comfortable with other ppl touching my child without me asking for their assistance, i will not be returning to her salon but i will stick with my stylist privately and find a place to get a service done, she has lost so many employees in a short amount of time due to her disrespectful and condescending nature, and still has no desire to better her treatment towards them. not to add the whole time her employees where the ones apologizing to me for her behavior instead of the other way around, extremely disappointing to see no sympathy for a fellow mom just trying to her her hair done read more

I couldn't bring myself to drive to Buckhead again to get my hair cut and really wanted to support a neighbor business. I couldn't be more excited about trying this place out as its steps away from my house and the products are all natural. My stylist Luna is super sweet and creative and I'm so excited to see what we come up with on my next longer visit! The space is industrial and fun and best of all definitely not a Buckhead feel.
