I embarrassingly will admit it took me a few months to get back to pick them up, and thankfully they still had them waiting in the back. Also, the garage DOES go through to the back of the building where The Painting Place is - so the directions are correct. It was much easier to get there this time when I realized it was a pull-through garage under the building lol.... They even had pre-made paint palettes as an option. They also have some pottery pieces and things you can paint and take home the same day, but you can't eat from those items as they don't go thru the kiln. There wasn't a ton of variety in the pottery pieces to choose from, and the prices were a bit high compared to what I've seen in the past. We enjoyed our time. There were only two other parties there so it was very quiet and peaceful. Tip: if you use GPS for directions, it'll point you to the building across from theirs. They're right across from the Russian School. Their sign is a bit hidden. They do have a free parking lot.

The helpful & friendly staff told me the deadline for Christmas projects needing to be sent out to the shop's finisher for stuffing & cording was August. I brought the project to the shop in May 2023 for finishing-- three months before their August deadline. They accepted my deposit & assured me it would be completed well before Christmas 2023. Beginning in October, I called & emailed the shop regularly to inquire about the ornament. Several times I had to send multiple emails before they responded. When they did, they told me they were "still waiting for the finisher." I reminded them it was intended to be a Christmas gift, yet they never displayed any sense of urgency. They indicated they had no way of tracking the project or knowing when it might be finished, only that they "hoped it would be soon" as if it was not their problem or concern. Christmas 2023 came and went, yet still no ornament. It did not arrive back at the shop until mid-January 2024--nearly eight months after I brought it to them for finishing. Although they discounted the finishing price by 10%, no one from the shop ever apologized that the ornament was not completed until long after the promised timeframe. A terribly disappointing service experience.

I've always found the store to be clean, neat, and well stocked. On this visit, I was interested in purchasing a larger Epicurean cutting board. I tried a small Epicurean board and really liked it, so I decided to get a full-sized version. These cutting boards are made in the USA from a paper composite material. They're durable, knife-friendly, nonporous, thin, and very lightweight. I find them much easier to use and maintain than traditional cutting boards. Sur La Table had many sizes to choose from, and I selected the 17-by-13-inch version. I stepped up to the register and was helped immediately. It cost $54.95. Tip: If you know the size you want, Amazon offers these for about $10 less.

Helen takes time to ask everyone at the beginning what our questions are going into the class and what we hope to learn, and at the end of the class does a whole Q&A session. She prints of recipes, shopping guides, and includes links to her YouTube videos on the recipes, she even included a bonus recipe for us just because she thinks it's delicious. Helen is worth every penny, can't recommend her enough. It was a great date night!
