    Chicken Empanada
    Dexter D.

I was working at the Dublin Police Services Trunk or Treat event at Emerald Glen Park when the hunger pangs hit. I walked over to where there were three food vendors set up. Two of the lines were long and one was practically non-existent. My general rule of thumb is that if there is no one waiting, there might be a very good reason. However, I couldn't stay away from our display long enough to wait for the two busy vendors to get my order out. Fortunately, sometimes looks can be deceiving. The service was fast and friendly. The Empanadas are cooked to order so there is a short wait. The pricing was $5.50 for one and there was a special of 3 for $14. I got one Chicken Empanada. It was hot out of the fryer. The exterior was crispy and delicious. The filling was a bit too well ground for me. I would have preferred something more to chew on. But the pastry itself made the meal for me. Service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely like to try some other flavors.

This was my first experience with Colombian empanadas and I have to say, if you haven't had it yet, you need to! I found this food truck an at Off The Grid event and decided to order three of their empanadas. They were all stuffed full of meat and potatoes (who doesn't love that?) The order came with small containers of different dipping sauces, some spicy and some sweet. I was actually surprised to find that I was really fond of the sweet sauce paired with the savory empanada! The cilantro mayo dip also paired really well with the empanadas!

I got to try Crazy Empanadas at the Sazon Latin Food Festival (apologies for my delayed review) and I ordered the lechon arepa. It came with sizeable chunks of avocado, as well as a lot of corn (I think probably the canned kind, based on texture). I liked the lechon itself and the cheese, but I am not sure how I feel about the overall flavor profile with the other ingredients. Maybe it would've been better to go for the empanadas, but I had wanted to eat the arepas since it's a Columbian specialty.

Got 2 chicken empanadas. Found the truck finally at the San Ramon The LOT City Center Farmer's Market on Saturday. They are great and tasty. Took a bit to make, but well worth it. Many people were ordering from the truck.

Got to try crazy empanada on Sat. They are primarily based out in. Livermore but they made an appearance at Niles Fremont Farmers Market. Service was good. Staff was friendly and deep fried the empanadas fresh. Ordered 2 chicken, 1 beef and 1 Hawaiian empanada. Both chicken and beef are served with a shredded meat/potato filling and it's seasoned well. The sauce it comes with is also delicious. The Hawaiian is a cheese, ham and pineapple filling and it was on the sweet side. A nice surprise. Would definitely like to get these again!

A gluten free empanada??? What?!? I was very skeptical but loved everything that I ate. The empanada was made with a corn flour dough and it was very good and filling. The prices were good too. I got a mean with plantain dish and it was odd looking, I didn't expect a full plantain, but it was mighty tasty. My husband tasted my food and decided to get the empanadas. We got two flavors - the beef and the chicken and both were very good. The salsa that came with them was good too. One red and one green. Usually, one outshines the other but this time, both were equally good. The woman working the window was super nice and welcoming. I know I will be back when I see them and not have to worry about not having something to eat. I can not wait!

Found this food truck at the Sazon Latin Food Festival in SJ this past weekend. Got the 3 empanadas for $14 deal, and tried the chicken, beef, and cheese. The cheese was my fave, keeping it simple. The beef and chicken ones came with potatoes inside, and though I'm not a big fan of shredded meat, they had decent flavor. Not too fond of the yellow corn dough either, but it was cooked to a nice light crisp which I liked. Service was standard, and the wait was reasonable, less than 10 minutes... And the next day, I saw this food truck at the Scottish Highland Games in Pleasanton, with a long line of customers, so even though they weren't exactly crazy good IMO, apparently they're popular.

Came across Crazy Empanada at G&M Farms. Something different from usually burgers, sandwiches, and burritos. They feature three main options: empanada, patacon and arepas. Never had patacon before so got patacon antiqueno (fried pork belly) to share with dear hubby. Mashed green plantain mixed with pork, beans, and more overlaid on a plantain "shell". Comes with three sauces, a white, red and green. Pretty tasty overall. Bonus they offer many gluten free options.

Beef Empanada, but it's like all potato...smh

Would not get the Beef Empanada again as it was mainly potato and very little beef if any... Loaded fries was decent, but I thought the cheese was the nacho kind. I should have asked then I wouldn't have bought it. Also, the house sauce taste like ketchup and mayo basically.. I got this because I saw someone eating it and it looked so good. I probably wouldn't crave or return. But, glad I tried them since I kept seeing their truck around the markets I go to.

I thought I would get half the portion of what I received. Needless to say, this was absolutely delicious!

These Empanadas were just alright, nothing quite to write home about. The beef Empanada didn't have a ton of flavor or spice, pretty thick crust and lots of oil. Same with the Chicken Empanada as well. The Hawaiian empanada was the unique one of the bunch, lots of cheese, big pineapple and ham chunks making it a unique treat but I couldn't eat more than one. Reasonable prices, fries were thin and tasty, and it was a pretty quick turn around. Probably wouldn't seek this out again just your stereotypical empanada

We went all in! Colombian food truck at Fremont Street Eats. We ordered the arepa which is a bunch of good stuff including chicken & beef on fried plantains. Then we got the Patacon which had chicken, beef and pork belly all in salad format encased in a corn bowl. Delicious. The plantains we delicious. Of course we got some Empenadas. They were fried which is new. We were too full to eat them so we'll have them tomorrow.

They came to First Wednesday Street Fest in Walnut Creek this August. We tried the vegan empanadas. The empanadas were surprisingly bigger than I had thought I would be getting. They are fried rather than baked but still very delicious - had a potato/veggie filling. Although on the pricier side, getting three to split was pretty filling. Wait time was about 15-20 min and servers were friendly. Would like to try their fries next time.

It packed the flavor punch of homestlye cooking and would rival more expensive sit-down restaurants. What a gem! We ordered the Venezuelan arepa, birria empanada, mushroom empanada, side Macondo salad, and passion fruit juice. Every dish was fantastic, and I'd easily recommend any of the above. Venezuelan arepa -- the was ridiculously yummy. The perfect balance of creamy, rich avocado sauce with chicken. It was hearty, balanced, and perfectly seasoned. Birria empanada -- this was delicious, rich, and perfect for the particularly chilly late afternoon. Birria on point. If you're craving birria in a delectable, crispy empanada format, you'll be quite happy. Mushroom empanada -- yummy. We love mushroom empanadas and they executed this one well. Macondo side salad -- surprisingly fantastic! Did not expect it to be so tasty. It was only a side dish for the combo, but it held its own among the baked goods. That's how yummy it was. Passion fruit juice -- sweet and relatively thick. They definitely didn't water it down! If you're a fan of passion fruit juice, you'll must try this one. Environment was fast casual. Only drawback was althe comfort level of a few of the dining chairs, which sloped backwards in an awkward way. The bench actually felt more comfortable, so we opted for that. Take out seems easy and common here, so we'll like try that as well in the future. Located on a busy street, but you can almost always find free parking down one of the perpendicular side streets. We ordered the Venezuelan, Colombian, and Pulled Pork BBQ arepas, the birria empanadas, pandebono with dulce de leche, and the chocolo arepa. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish most of the food. The birria empanadas and all three arepas were way too salty. I'm not sure if they went a little overboard with the salt today, but it was overwhelming and made it hard to enjoy anything. The pandebono with dulce de leche was also disappointing. It's described as being filled with dulce de leche, but it was actually just a plain pandebono with a small side of dulce de leche. The texture was also a bit too chewy for my liking. The only item I truly enjoyed and was able to eat was the chocolo arepa that one was actually decent. Overall, I was pretty disappointed because I really enjoy arepas and was excited to find a new spot. I may give them another try in the future in case it was just an off day, but this first experience didn't live up to my expectations.

The server was really nice. He gave us 4 different menus but only 1 had updated prices. All but one menu was in Spanish so we had to pull up the Yelp reviews to see what was good to order. After a little while, the server came to check on us. We ordered 2 beef and 1 chicken empanadas. I liked the beef over the chicken. They were tasty. They were really crispy on the outside, hot and filling on the inside. Served with a yummy citrus-y like pico de gallo. We ordered the Arepa Rellena De Queso. It's like a cheese stuffed corn pita. The cheese was not as flavorful/salty as we had wished, so it lacked that flavor we were expecting to ooze. The Bandeja Paisa dish we ordered came with rice, beans, chorizo sausage, thin piece of chicharron, a thin piece of unseasoned carne asada, a fried egg, a fried plantain, guacamole and what seemed like a round, flattened piece of overcooked rice? I'm starting to notice that unless the meat is sausage, the steaks are not very well seasoned. The plantain was the most flavorful part of that dish, since it had the natural sweetness. The chicharron lacked that crunch we were used to. I got the end piece, so I got luckier than the rest of the family. I realized just now that we didn't get the blood sausage that everyone else got, and I had to look at my receipt again to make sure that we in fact did order the Bandeja Paisa, and we did. That's disappointing. Also I just noticed on the receipt I was charged a "Kitchen Appreciation" charge. Ummm... excuse me???!! I would have appreciated it if you hadn't forgotten my blood sausage from my $27 dish! The Arroz con Pollo had sausage and chicken in the rice with ketchup on top, served with a small salad with guacamole and french fries. I'm starting to see a pattern and that the meat aren't really seasoned. A lot of sauces and dips are used to substitute, and the drinks are a lot more on the carbonated sour/bitter side, with a bit of an aftertaste. The customer service is great, but I don't know if this unseasoned food is my kind of taste.
