This place is very hidden in the corner next to Mimi's Kitchen. I always see it very busy and said I gotta try it one day. Here I âm! Came here with a few friends.and we all loved it. Make sure you ask for the English me you cuz they have a Spanish one as well. We ordered chicharrkn with potato's, fried plantain with guava and cheese and elotes as starters! They also gave us a plate of plantains!! I ordered the chicharron biurger with everything on it. It was fantastic! Next time I come back, I would ask if they could cook it mediums rare. For me, it was a lil too cooked as I like my steaks medium rare. It's defiantly y cooked perfectly for others! We ordered a bunch of other a food and they were all goolad! Ribs were good. Tender an flavorful. The rib eye steak was pretty thick and flavorful. The locos papas is definitely a dish to share. There is a lot of chicken under that layer of cheese! The la champii is just a basic birder with mushroom, and cheese. Huge parking, small cozy place!!

I came back and got the enrazada and holy moly it was so good! Only complaint is that the sauce made the bun fall apart but it's ok I don't need all that excess carbs anyway. It was a sat night and after we started eating did it get super busy.

The restaurant is located in a little cul-de-sac corner of businesses near Mimi's cafe, a nail shop and a karate studio, by the CVS pharmacy. If you're not looking for it, you'll miss it entirely. We saw the pictures on Yelp and were dying to try it. The ambience is really cute and hip to Columbian culture. My teen daughter had a field day with selfies. They started off by serving you some yummy little fried plantains with a little sauce at the bottom of the ramikin. I didn't get to try the sauce because my little monsters gobbled it all up before I had a chance to but the plaintains were really tasty even without the sauce. We ordered the Ricardo burger ($18.72). It was really stacked high with a big angus beef patty, chorizo sausage, onion rings, cheese, a partially wilted sad single piece of lettuce, and tomato. Obviously we removed the lettuce. It was accompanied with crispy, lightly seasoned fries, a mayo-ketchup sauce and a garlicky-mayo-tartar like aioli sauce that was the star of the show. It was delicious and complimented absolutely everything! Then there was the delicious Papas Locas ($22.88). French fries topped with corn, shredded chicken, chorizo sausage, tons of melted cheese, and an onion ring to top it off... again that epic aioli sauce! The Pincho ($19.76) was the tower of chicken and beef (medium done) on a skewer standing over a bed of fries. I wanted to love it but the meats were a little dry and needed more seasoning. But again, that sauce that saved every dish was there! The Costillas BBQ ($21.84) was 4 pork ribs served with a small basket of French fries. Again, the meat lacked seasoning, but that aioli sauce was the star that saved the dinner. We ordered 3 drinks Limonada De Panela ($6.24), Soda De Frutas Rojas ($7.28) and Jugas Naturales Passion Fruit ($7.28). A lot more bitter and sour than I would have preferred my fruit drinks. And a little pricier than you would normally pay for drinks in a regular restaurant. All in all, this place is worth coming back for another taste of their other menu dishes (not the Pincho, the Costillas BBQ or their drinks- IMO) but for sure their killer aioli sauce, some of their other delicious looking other burgers and that Papas Locas! And our server Diego was amazing! Super friendly, attentive, welcoming, and took great care of us! Yeah-- we'll be back! Our first time eating Columbian food and we really enjoyed it!

First off, food is great! It's a 4/5. I've never had Columbian hamburgers and hot dogs but I definitely like them and all the condiments that come with them that I'm unfamiliar with. The plantains and sweet sauce mixture that is put down on the table at the start is yummy. The food is heavy of course, but the mixture on the burger is so unique. Also highly recommend ordering the chicharrones for an appetizer. However, like many others have said, this is an establishment that serves primarily Spanish speakers. They are inattentive and not as friendly if you do not speak Spanish. On the bright side, it seems they've read some reviews on Yelp and have fixed their menu to make it readable and also now offer it in English. The service is rather atrocious. It's completely unclear if you should seat yourself or wait to be seated. It takes another 20 minutes to get someone to take your order and it seems like the server was actively ignoring us while providing service to the tables around us. Other tables seated after us had their orders taken before us. They also had three servers working the restaurant. Once we ordered, food came out at a decent speed. It is really busy for dinner at 8:30 - 9 p.m. So, plan to come earlier if you'd like to beat the crowd. I'm glad their business is booming but just a forewarning to others that service may not be good and it can spoil your experience. They do boom lively music, so this can be a fun place to get dinner with friends.

El Pinche..marinated grilled steak, chicken and Colombian chorizo with fries. $19

I can't help BUT give this restaurant 5 stars. They are tucked away in a large but quiet shopping center which yields LOTS of parking. They are right off HWY 85 which is convenient. They open for dinner. We walked in right as they opened. It's an intimate spot with lots of booths for you booth lovers. It is dimly lit and the walls are adorned with a dark hue but one wall is nothing BUT mirrored. Ambiance is romantic. Upon entering we were greeted by a gentleman that had menu's and a bowl of plantains in hand. What a greeting! Husband and I looked over the menu. I knew what I wanted when I walked in. We ordered their onion rings for starters. I ordered the Chicharron hamburger which comes with a side of crinkle fries and a pineapple drink (bottled). Husband ordered El Pinche which was served as if it were suspended in air over a bed of rice and a colombian chorizo. My burger....let me say this it did NOT disappoint. The burger patty is substantial on it's own and topped with a large melty cheese patty (yes patty because in order to get the cheese pull it did that is exactly what was required). Then there were slices of well marinated sweet pork belly. Topped with raw onion. Fried plantains we were welcomed with were served on top a sweet chili and a cream dip. Delish! The onion rings were crispy and served with a garlic aioli type dipping sauce that was perfect. My husband ordered the El Pinche and the meat was marinated well and cooked to perfection. Chicken was also flavorful. This meat duo hangs suspended above a bed of crinkle fries and on top of the fries they lay a chorizo sausage. I was telling my husband that I think the Colombian chorizo wins my vote over mexican chorizo. Colombian chorizo is more like a sausage and is there anything better than that exterior that pops when you bite into it? Very flavorful! I'm sure we will be back. I took half of my burger to my son whom seemed to yawn and it disappeared. Yes, the burger and the El Pinche can be shared.

A Must-Try Colombian Spot in South San Jose! If you haven't been to this Colombian restaurant yet, make it a priority! The glowing Yelp reviews are spot on, and I highly recommend checking it out. My family and I visited for the first time on Friday night for Valentine's Day. We arrived around 6:45 PM and had no trouble getting a table, but by the time we left at 8 PM, the place was packed--so plan accordingly! The menu offers a variety of Colombian-style hamburgers, hot dogs, plates, and appetizers. As others have mentioned, not all staff members may speak English fluently, but they are incredibly friendly. A little patience--or even some basic Spanish--goes a long way! We started with the chicharrones and elotes as appetizers, followed by three different burgers. To drink, we had a Colombian Michelada and a Poker Colombian beer--both excellent choices. The food was flavorful and well-prepared, and the restaurant had a lively atmosphere, with reggaeton music videos playing on the TVs. A thoughtful touch: before we left, they surprised us with complimentary mini cupcakes for Valentine's Day! Let's continue supporting local restaurants that bring diverse flavors to South San Jose. I can't wait to visit again!

The food is amazing this is a picada with chicharrón, plátano maduro with cheese, corn, steak, chicken, bbq ribs, French fries, chorizo, arepa was very delicious and I fully recommend easy for 3 person. The service was good they continued ask if your good or want something else! The ambience was chill and familiar fully recommended.

Don't boo this, man. El Bumangues is a San Jose restaurant that proclaims itself the "best fast food in town." The name appears to be a demonym for people from Bucaramanga, the 9th largest city by population of Colombia. Despite their odd tucked-away location near Pet Club, they got pretty busy at weekday dinner. You may be wondering why Colombian burgers and hot dogs are being offered only at dinner hours, and the answer is that the portions are pretty big. On top of that, the food can get pretty heavy, so if at any point they provide lime wedges, squeeze them onto the food. For my entrée, I went with the Santander ($17.00), which is the department of Colombia whose capital is the aforementioned namesake city. All of the burgers appear to have a 1/2 lb patty, which unfortunately wound up pretty gray in my case. The various toppings did add enough character though, especially the sweet corn kernels and the filling arepa. They also provided an onion jam, which was likely overly sweet due to heavy sugarcane presence, and an aioli. The crinkle-cut fries were alright, but aren't nearly as good as proper twice-fried variety or even a curly or otherwise corn-starched tater. I was more impressed overall with other dishes on the table. We shared a Chicharrones ($13.00) appetizer, which was actually crispy fried pork belly and airy fried yellow potatoes. The belly is cooked well enough - think Chinese pork but without the spices or skin - and the potato texture is stunning and not quite like any I've had before. Both the aioli and the rather sweet take on thousand island were delicious condiments here. The Pincho ($18.00) was also a strong dish, especially from a visual standpoint. It's a skewer of chicken and steak suspended vertically from a hook, along with soft potatoes at the bottom. I sampled both meats and enjoyed them, and I did think that the potatoes were fine, but they were not as magically impressive as in the aforementioned app. The other tastes which I had were the complimentary fried plantain chips and some Pure Sugar Cane Lemonade ($5). The chips were crispy and came with aioli and onion jam, which also tasted oddly sweet in this application, and the sugar cane really felt like a theme with the lemonade which was a little light on lemon/acidity and high on the earthy sugarcane tones. Expect more sugarcane than lemonade. The TVs were generally loud except for a brief respite between programs. They had World Cup qualifiers on until the scheduled match ended, then they switched over to Colombian music. Service can get a little spotty when they're busier, but at least there are plenty of napkins at the table. If you're feeling up for greasy, Colombian fast food, then you may be thrilled with El Bumangues. I think they're a solid option in their niche, although I would question the claim of best fast food in town.

I won't lie, I had higher expectations for the food here. I wanted a good cheese pull and juicy burger but the cheese was a little rubbery and the meat at in n out taste better. It could have been on our part perhaps and the food could have gotten cold while I went to the restroom but I dunno. Also the papa locas with shredded chickens and corn was interesting, like a chicken salad type of thing. Probably wouldn't order that again. Overall staff was kind and attentive and they serve one of the best fully loaded hotdogs

    Cristian B.

For appetizers I recommend the corn on the cob, for an entree anything with Tartare and Pineapple sauce! If you are colombian you will have a flashback reconnecting with your hometown! If you are not, give them a chance! Amazing food, great service, and the ambience is cool, Latin music and perfect reguetón. Thank you so much El Bumangués! Nunca cambien!

Wow! Who knew a spot like this existed?? I chanced upon this spot while I was in the neighborhood and was lured in by the Colombian and burger sign and the picture of the giant burger in the window. I had the mushroom burger and fries which were great. Think about this as a great burger spot with super unique toppings.

Milohas (mil hojas) means a thousand layers in Spanish, and one taste of Milohas' pastries will make you understand why they picked that moniker. The Good: * Large shared parking lot * Friendly service * Covered outdoor dining * The crust of the empanadas was buttery, flaky, and delicious. All the fillings were good, but you have to try the Hawaiian filling! It was truly fantastic and had us wishing that's all we'd ordered. * Guava Finger has the same perfect crust and tasty guava jam--I could eat a dozen of these and come back for more. *oink oink* * Carissa really enjoyed their lentil soup. I didn't try it, so I can't comment. The Meh: * I kind of prefer the chunks of meat in Peruvian empanadas to the ground meat in Colombian ones, but that's just a personal preference. The empanadas are pretty large, as are the prices. $17 for the two. At this price point I was glad I decided not to buy more. Each comes with a tiny side of aji green sauce. They could have been more generous here. I found the spinach to be very salty and more breading than filling. The chicken one was a letdown. Chicken was lacking any flavor. For both the pastry was dry. Was only able to eat half of each and threw the rest away. Not really the kind of place you dine in for. You order at the counter and there is limited seating inside (in a way that makes you not want to dine in), and a few seats outside. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. This visit and subsequent review makes me feel sad. I want to support these unique, independent eateries but they make it difficult when the quality doesn't meet the high cost. Improvements would be to reevaluate their recipes, make the pastries less dry and dense, and maybe don't be so skimpy on the fillings.

The service provided by María José was truly exceptional from start to finish; gracious, attentive, and genuinely human in a way that lingers long after you leave. The atmosphere wrapped around you effortlessly; a cozy, inviting space where every detail feels intentional, guiding you back to your roots. The café con leche... simply perfect; like it was made by your grandmother, rich with comfort and memory. The agua de panela, beautifully balanced, set the tone with its subtle sweetness. Then came the highlight: a sizzling churrasco, aromatic and full of flavor, served with perfectly cooked rice and golden sweet plantains that taste like home. To finish, a selection of traditional cookies from the shop; the classic puntico Rojo; adding the perfect touch of sweetness and nostalgia. What a blessing it was to return to La Bendición. Because truly, we are blessed; those of us who get to experience the richness of Colombian cuisine in every bite.

It does have full table service, which I really liked. Our server was very nice and helped us select our meal. We had beef ribs and pork ribs which were very good. The plantaines, white rice (exceptionally good), salad with avocado, and sauces. We finished our meal with in house fresh bakery items, which were really outstanding (See Pictures). Overall, the meal we ordered was pretty good, except for the plantains, which were hard, dry, and inedible (possibly not fresh made-was kept under a heat lamp). This restaurant may not be suitable for families, as it is also a sports bar with big screen TV's, loud music and geared for adults. The price point was fairly high as compared to other restaurants I have visited. Our bill for 2 dinners, 2 soft drinks, 2 desserts was $95 before tip. The restaurant was well maintained and clean. If you're in the area, why not try it?
