Right off the bat, just to be clear. This place is Cajun. And it wouldn't be authentic if it didn't smell like the swamp. Seems to just be a fact. Get over it or go elsewhere. Understaffed, but the waitress/bar tender was pretty good and keeping up with the crowd. Never had to wait long for a drink and I suspect a single cook, don't know, all food was presented anonymously thought a tiny hole. Again. It is what it is. Brings us to the food and drinks. $3 for a Mexican beer in a bar. SOLD. I had 5. NOLA fries. It's jojo cut with étouffée poured over it. SOLD! Delicious! Fried catfish po'boy. Meh. 2/5. Fried shrimp po'boy. AMAZING! Order it! The sandwiches are are given a cup of étouffée to dip the fries in or put on the sandwich. If you use the ketchup the give you, you're a fool. I ordered takeout here on my first night in town. I ordered a salad for dinner and a grilled shrimp po'boy to take for lunch the next day. I ordered the bbq shrimp platter for dinner that was supposed to be on rice, but instead I asked for it to be put over greens. The girl over the phone said she would just enter it as a shrimp salad. I didn't think anything of it at the time but when I saw the difference between the shrimp in the po'boy and the shrimp on the salad I realized I should have been more specific. The bbq shrimp on the salad were the smaller precooked variety with bbq sauce slathered atop the bed of spinach. To say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. The next day I went to pack the po'boy and it was so smelly I didn't want it to stink up my car and clothes. I had to leave it in the hotel fridge and find something else to have for lunch that day. When I finally opened the box up to eat it the next night I realized they gave me a fried shrimp po'boy, not the grilled shrimp, as I had ordered. Talk about being disappointed on all fronts! Was not a big fan. The drinks were good. I got the cup of gumbo...I was really good. The husband got their crawfish tails....JUST SAY NO. I had read another review saying no but he ordered them before I could tell him to choose something different. They were just nasty. Please just don't. Our entrees were meh. Nice Cajun place I decided to check out for lunch. Kind of a dive bar with a few tables. I was alone so I sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly. They had mostly domestic macro brews for the beer selection, but I found one Regional brew called Kiltlifter by Four Peaks our of Tempe, AZ. It was very good. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Salad and it was also very good. More chicken than salad. I'm not really complaining just pointing out that this was the first salad where I had chicken left at the end. However, the flavor was on point. Very spicy though. Just a warning. Overall a good lunch and enjoyable visit. Final note, the place is called Crawdaddy's but they had no Crawdads in stock. On the way to the airport decided to stop for seafood and was extremely satisfied. We ordered the seafood barge, Mardi Gras and shrimp etouffee. The food was seasoned to perfection. The location is close to UTEP and about 20 minutes to the airport. It was small but cozy, very casual with bar and seating area. The waiter was polite and the food came out fast. This place doesn't look like much from the outside - not the inside as much either. But the food here is definitely worth it! We had crawfish tail po' boys, a fish sandwich, crawfish mac and cheese, and a grilled salmon. Incredible! Po' boys had a nice crunch that tasted very fresh and light. I found out about this place through yelp maybe 6 months ago- and I've never had an opportunity to try it until today. My husband and I finished our hike and this place was only a 7 minute car ride away so we figured now was the best chance to check it out since we didn't have our son. It's a relatively small restaurant with self seating. The menu has a lot of Cajun options though. We got the fried pickle appetizer which was piping hot when it got to our table. It was a little greasy so I'm assuming the cook didn't let the oil drain very well.. which is fine. We were completely aware we ordered a fried appetizer and grease is going to be apart of that. My husband ordered a blackened shrimp Po boy and I got the fried crawfish tails po boy. I didn't try his but he loved it. And mine was amazing as well. His came with a mayonnaise-y sauce and mine came with a hot sauce which was way too hot for me. The fries though- YUM. I haven't had good fries in a long time. I love crawdad. A lot. I came and ordered the alligator which they had that night and some crawdad. The alligator isn't bad, I definitely ordered it again. The crawdad was disappointing. There's no sauce it gets cooked nor served in. There's a dipping sauce and it's ok. But crawdad by itself without being cooked in some kind of sauce is just meh. read more

My husband is creole and was looking for some crawfish. DO NOT get the fried crawfish tails, they were not nearly big enough mostly cornmeal and oily. The boiled crawfish he said were good for this area and he ate all three pounds. The prices are decent. The crawfish came with corn and he ordered his with butter and extra seasoning. The service was great music was really good. It is in the downtown area so u may have to walk. I had the cajun shrimp tacos which were spicy and good. Also had a wing basket. I like to try new and local places when I visit, but here I am...here again because I was craving it. When you walk in it seems more like a bar and you would not imagine they have such amazing food! Their fries are a bit different. They are HUGE curly fries with a Cajun seasoning. Both times I ordered the Seafood Barge because it comes with a variety of seafood. I'm not normally a fan of etouffee, but theirs is awesome!!! The heat is a good level. The fried fish is amazing and I usually don't care for cooked fish. I prefer sushi. The cream sauce they give you must by laced with cocaine!!! The shrimp, fish, and crawfish tails are lightly breaded and fried to perfection. They are all well seasoned and, for being fried, are not greasy at all. The veggies are a combination of broccoli and zucchini and are well seasoned. The Cajun rice is very simple and seasoned well. It is useful if you need to cool your mouth. They also give you Texas toast which is nicely toasted and buttery. All the food tastes fresh and is as good as it looks. Ali is awesome to talk to. someone recommended this place to me at a random bar and i can say this is one of the best cajun places in the city! Forewarning: I'm highly critical of Cajun food because my dad's side is Cajun... Even though I didn't give it a high score, I would recommend this place, and I enjoyed the food. The reason for the 3 stars is due to the following: the roux in the gumbo isn't the kind of roux I'm used to; the vegetables (celery, onions, and peppers) were cut "chunky"; IDK if it was parboiled rice or not, but it reminded me of it - not a fan of the rice; I may be mistaken but I think there's green chiles, like Hatch green chiles, in the various soups and etouffee (we got the soup sampler and the seafood barge), which made it a different kind of spice than Cajun spice; and my number one complaint, which you'll think it's petty, but they don't have sweet tea. Lol. Sorry but I was looking forward to some good & strong sweet tea All in all, the place has a fun, laid-back atmosphere. It's close to the university so there's plenty of college kids around (I'm in my 40's). Kinda reminded me of Seattle... Wish we had time to try everything on the menu! We are moving and just passing through El Paso. Saturday evening and we were craving Cajun food. This a hidden gem! I ordered crawfish étouffée and was perfect (Not overly spicy at all) and VERY filling. Had bread with it to enjoy the good rice gravy. Hubby got the chicken, sausage gumbo cup as well as the lemon pepper shrimp bowl. The gumbo was gone in 5 min!! He LOVED it! The shrimp bowl had rice, zucchini and bread. The shrimp was melt in your mouth. Husband said it was like popcorn! He wanted more. Everything seasoned so well. Great service. This was a great late night spot for food. Sorry I did not have drinks but the bartender offered water immediately even after I said I wasn't drink. He was very attentive and made sure our experience was top notch. The fried tilapia was delicious and well seasoned. The Cajun rice was a great compliment. The vegetables were great and fresh. We arrived here for a late night meal after a long day of driving. We wanted something different from the fast food options we had all day. Checked yelp for restaurants open after 11 and this place was open until 2am. It's not really a place for young kids, but it'll do if you want to bring them. The restaurant is located very close to UTEP and local clubs, so it's a busy area after hours. The menu is limited after 10, but we were pleased with the selection. Looking around we came up on crawdaddys a cajun seafood place/bar. This place was divey and made me happy because i couldn't wait to see what this place was about. The food was really good. We had a po boy and some blackened shrimp and oysters and crawfish. It was a surprise to get this food here and it was really good. The bar was cool and our bartender ally was something else she was sooo cool and made our time fly. She talked to us on some food and bar recommendations and just about life and music. I haven't ever had food this bad. I downloaded Yelp just to do this review. I ordered crawfish and the blackened shrimp bowl. The crawfish was amazingly disgusting. Over cooked to the point that it was similar to chewing on an actual rubber band. There was a whole bunch of dry seasoning on the outside of the crawfish but they obviously didn't let them soak in seasoned water because they tasted just like a rubber band too. The "blackened" shrimp bowl was just as bad. The shrimp wasn't blackened...it was breaded and burnt. The rice was made at least 24 hours ago and,the zucchini that came with it was obviously old. Dry and had a skin. Aside from the food they don't have any draft beer. The whole place smells like urine and all of the paint is peeling off. I went into the bathroom before ordering and honestly your better off not washing your hands so you don't have to touch the sink. Took a peek in the kitchen next to the bar and it looks really dirty too. Don't even test this place. I ended up walking a couple doors down to the cigar bar for lunch after this experience. The food and beer was great. I have no idea how Crawdaddy's has four stars but,in conclusion Crawdaddy's...you need to either close up shop or get your building and cook up to shape. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by Crawdaddys. I had a hankering for some Cajun and El Paso is seriously lacking in that department. Went in on a Thursday for a late lunch. Solid number of people present. I sat at the bar. It looked like the bartender (Elisa, purple hair, hard to miss) was serving the entire place. She did a great job as the service was fantastic. Water kept getting refilled, bartender checked on quality of food and my needs. The food itself came out crazy fast. I ordered the blackened shrimp po boy with side of red beans and rice. Red beans and rice came out a couple minutes later. Big chunks of meat in a flavorful broth. Hit the spot. Po boy came out a little later. I added cheese and jalapenos (came out on the side) as extras. The po boy was good. Its not going to blow anyone away but it was prepared well. They were extremely generous with the shrimp and the seasoning they used was delicious. The menu was actually way more extensive than I expected and it took me a while to read through the dang thing. But I am definitely keen on going back and trying some of the other items on the menu. Only real draw back is they don't have any beers on draft and I like my blue moons poured into a mug with an orange slice (so fancy, pinky finger raised up when drinking of course). But Crawdaddy's scratched the Cajun itch and did so with great and speedy service. Check it out. read more

Came to eat lunch with my Co-works. Now I am somewhat of a picky eater asked for a plain burger and fries. Even asked what came o the burger. And said to Server plain and no sauce. When burger showed up was covered in sauce. When speaking to server I asked for a bill for just the fries. Server didn't even say a word. Just walked away while I was talking. Now on the plus side they did not charge me but didn't even say they were not going to charge me. Worst service ever! read more

This place needs to change its name to microwave Daddy. I ordered 3 lbs of crawfish to eat at my table. The waitress was very cordial but that was the only positive part of my experience here. When the Crawfish came out it was obvious that they had been pre Frozen. If I were to guess I would say that it was packaged in Korea and shipped Frozen to El Paso. I called the cook over and showed him that the Crawfish was still frozen in the middle and completely dry inside. He took it back to the kitchen and stuck it back in the microwave. When he brought it back out his only response was " crawfish are very delicate and there is a fine line between cooked and overcooked." I told him that there is also a very fine line between microwaved and Frozen. This is certainly not a place to order a crawfish boil. It might be a good place to get together and have some warm beers with friends but definitely not food. read more

I haven't been here in almost five years so defiantly not my first time, don't think yelp even existed back then. To my surprise they have updated and upgraded their menu.
