First time coming here. Wanted to try something new while I was with my wife and colleagues. This place had a great menu selection and many unheard of items. I will say, it's a bit pricey. They got items for vegetarians as well if meat / steak isn't your cup of tea. Great desserts,very clean restrooms too. The wait times can be long, we waited about 30 ish minutes. Came to Crave while on my first work trip since COVID shut everything down in March. First time I've eaten in a restaurant in 9 months, and wow, this is the kind of place I miss. I and my two coworkers showed up around 6 on a Wednesday evening and the place was mostly empty. We were seated in a large booth away from other customers and had plenty of room to spread out from each other, too. In lieu of paper menus, there's a QR code on the table you can scan to access the menu online. Honestly, it all looked delicious and the decisions were difficult! We ordered drinks--my colleagues reveled in draft beers while I enjoyed a glass of wine. We got the alligator tails as an appetizer which were perfectly fried and crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and dressed in a spicy sauce with a pickled vegetable garnish and a creamy dipping sauce. Really good! My coworkers both had the filet which was cooked to a perfect medium rare on both counts. I got the short rib which was a HUGE portion and so tender no knife was needed. The braised kale was a sleeper hit on the side. Kudos to Crave for putting social distancing and safety measures in place, and I'm glad to see restaurants like this still operating. I held a small gathering of 15 people for my MIL'a 70th Birthday in the Canal Room in Oct. The room has lots of windows and and a awesome view of the Canal. Room is set up best for seated guests, not a lot of standing room but we were comfortable. We were early diners so the kitchen was able to allow us to order individual meals from the menu. My MIL has many food sensitivities and does not often get to enjoy a meal she hasn't cooked herself, let alone enjoyed dining out. There were plenty of delicious options for her right off the menu and the staff was able to accommodate some gluten and dairy modifications. Our waiter, Tim, was excellent and so friendly and patient. Manager, Aaron, was a rockstar helping to organizing the details and giving suggestions to ensure the event went smoothly. Only reason I am giving two stars is because the service was decent. First the place is warm the servee said it was a 100 year old building and it takes a while for it to start cooling off. Was there from 6:30‐8:15 and I think it got warmer. Appetizer were ok but super small and not sharable. Two tiny little crab cakes the size of half dollars and an ice cold soft boiled egg.. the steak skewers were again cold and tough. The worst offense was the Ahi Tuna. Worst piece of fish I have ever had. Ice cold, zero sear and it was tough and stringy...tough sushi grade tuna???? Gross. The entire plate was uninspired, bland and just awful. I came here with two others before a concert and had made a reservation a couple months ahead. The food was good; we all got the chicken and waffles. For 18 dollars, though, We all wish that it would have been a little more filling. We then shared the mocha java brownie, which was really good. The service was very good and our server was kind to us and took good care of us. However, we all agreed that it seemed like the restaurant was overpriced and most likely wouldn't come back just because you can get more for your money somewhere else. read more

I was in the area on business and was taken here by coworkers. The restaurant was nice and the staff was warm and friendly. I would give the staff a 5 star but the food is lacking. We started with calamari but it was all filler with very few piece of actual calamari. The truffle fries were good. My one companion liked her scallops and the other did not. I had the brisket and it was dry and the risotto it was over lacked flavor. For dessert we tried the pound cake and brownie. The brownie was good but the pound cake had a weird sour taste. Great selection if unique food! We had the tomato cheese soup which was very unique and resembled a grilled cheese dipped in tomato sauce. I also got the gouda mac and cheese with the blacked chicken. The chicken was cooked and flavored really well. Theres a small kick to the seasoning from the sriracha, but nothing I couldn't handle. The mach and cheese was creamy and went very well with the chicken. I had such a big portion, I ate only half and took the rest to go. My friend got the coffee and sugar bbq brisket, which is really liked. It was a little bit overcooked but still flavorful. The peach jalapeno sauce definitely had a kick to it, spicier than the blackened chicken. But all of their dishes here were definitely unique. It was packed and in the heart of downtown! When I ordered it, I assumed it was just a regular cup of soup. However, it actually included a small piece of bread with melted cheese on it... hence the name grilled cheese tomato soup I guess haha. It was served piping hot and the cheese melting into the soup was delicious. I had the Napa cabbage salad as my meal, which was very unique. It had an oriental feel to it, including wasabi peas which were a great touch. Great find in Akron! We ordered the fried alligator to share as an appetizer, and this was like buffalo chicken but deliciously chewy. COMPLETE FAILURE! I have been going to this restaurant for 10+ years, no longer! Let's start with reception- jeans and floral pajama waffle weave shirt, really!? Jasmine, our waitress was good. Everything else was a train wreck! I have celiacs so I ordered two gluten free appetizers for our table of 4. Both were good- calamari and fried green tomatoes. We had a wonderful, over priced, bottle of wine ($95). I then ordered the menu specified gluten free filet cooked medium. When it arrived I mentioned that I was surprised that the croquettes were gluten free. Luckily the server said- "I don't think they are." The manager apologized and offered to remake the meal with the another side. 30 minutes + later I was served a RAW steak with some type of scalloped potato (ensured it was GF). By this time everyone was finished and I had yet to be served something I could eat. I requested that it just be removed from the bill. Our table then had two desserts. The bill arrived with no offer of any compensation for my lack of a meal. While paying the busboy started reaching around the table taking all the plates - can't wait a few minutes?!! I can't say enough about the creativity and quality of Crave. for over a decade I've been coming here and they consistently give me a reason to come back. It's affordable enough for a weeknight takeout meal, but refined enough for a date night or special occasion. I recommend the Baked Goat Cheese, Gouda Mac N Cheese, Steak Skewer, and/or the Smoked and Braised Beef Short Rib if it's your first time. The specials are always on point too. The bar always has a great energy on weeknights after work too. Check out their wine or beer tasting nights. Our party of eight arrive on time for our reservation at 7pm on a Saturday night. Two hostesses were stationed at the front desk helping one couple ahead of us which took a good ten minutes. I was hoping one of the hostess could have seated us as only one was attending the couple. We were seated 15 minutes later. The restaurant was half full. Our waitress came by 10 minutes with food & drink menu. I ordered a bourbon drink from their menu and stated no brown sugar as indicated in the recipe. It was sweet. For my entree I ordered the scallop with polenta special. The scallop polenta with mushroom knocked all the bad experiences prior out of the park. Three large scallops, fresh, and cooked to perfection. It was tender and juicy, not over done, kudos to the chef who was there November 25th, 2017. I haven't had scallops prepped so perfectly in a really long time. Second was the polenta, huge fan of polenta. The texture with the mushrooms among other flavors was amazing. It might have been the best polenta I've had. The entire entree complimented itself so well that I wish I had room to do another plate. I did try a bite of other dishes at table; seared tuna, salmon, and chicken with waffles, all were decent, but nothing in comparison to the scallops. read more

Crave has been on my list of restaurants to try and I was so happy that I was able to stop by for dinner with my mom. The interior was nicely decorated, a few minor repairs could be made on upholstery but in the scheme of things, it's the food and service that matters. Our server was absolutely wonderful, she was taking care of the bar and our table, but always had time to chat. She was extremely personable and so easy to talk to! We started off with a wine called "Sex Chocolate" which was delicious you must try it. We then tried the street corn trio which features Craves take on street corn 3 different ways. I don't even like blue cheese but I loved the blue cheese and bacon version. For dinner we had the tune and short ribs. It had to be some of the best tuna I have had. Simple flavors done right. The short ribs were melting in your mouth and the side of beans it came with were outstanding. We saved room for dessert and got the french toast which was sweet and a little savory, I loved it.
