I read through some of the 1 star reviews, but thought I should mention my experience: When I bought my new condo in May 2018, I knew the heating system was extremely old (30+ years). When I went to do some home upgrades, I found out the carbon monoxide levels were higher than they should be in my heating system. I went out and received quotes from 4 local companies to replace my boiler and hot water heater. Not only was Cranney the best price with superior equipment, my Comfort Adviser Patrick took the time to actually explain to me why he was recommending certain systems over others and answer all of my questions (the ridiculous and not so ridiculous ones). Cranney installed my new boiler in under two weeks and everyone from the plumbers to the electricians in my home for the installation were extremely nice (I wish I remembered their names to thank them personally). When the work was completed, I was walked through all of the important aspects of my new system (from safety measures to how to not scald myself in the shower). A manager is coming by to inspect the work soon, but I have no doubt it was done properly. I am sorry there are people who had less than stellar experiences, but I would definitely recommend Cranney to others. Are there cheaper people out there? Probably. But that didn't stop me from calling Cranney again this week to help with some slow drains in my tub and sink, as I know they stand behind their work and it will be done well (and by very nice people). read more

I would first like to acknowledge and thank Courtney, who from my point of view, is the heart and soul of your operation. ALWAYS polite, patience(!), attentive and thorough!. She is amazing! The crew that was assigned for install of my new HVAC unit was Alec Duckworth and Rich Damon, who worked under new and challenging conditions! Reinforcements were deployed to help with this surgical operation! Drills were churning, electrical wires were being pulled and the new unit sat proudly on its newly constructed throne! KUDOS especially to the team of Alec Duckworth and Rich Damon! I applaud their efforts, their kindness, and their very knowledgeable training and work ethics. They worked 11 hours straight to get the new HVAC unit, especially the A/C portion, up and running for me. I am so appreciative and grateful. In fact, all of the manpower, and everyone who not only came to our rescue to help install, including your electricians, Mike and Scott who hooked everything up were amazing. Your plumber, Frank, arrived as scheduled, on a Saturday(!) and connected the gas/heating lines. He is yet another fine employee from The Cranney Company. You have to be very proud of your staff!! Thank you and nicely done everyone! read more

From start to finish Cranney Home Services puts the home owner first. Customer service is paramount. Scheduling was easy for the initial meeting to explain their offerings, the cost, and how best to choose systems dependent upon our personal needs. Our rep was respectful and competent. We replaced our furnace, water heater and added a high efficiency air purifier/filter to an existing air conditioning system. Additionally we installed a separate wall-mounted heat/cooling combo unit to a sunroom. We were applying for a Mass Save Heat Loan. Our service rep immediately offered to walk us through the process. The installation technicians were quick, efficient, and took the time to explain each step. When coming across a possible hiccup to the combo unit install, immediately a company expert was called so as to have another set of eyes. He quickly came up with an elegant solution. Afterwards they cleaned up after themselves, leaving their work areas cleaner than when they started. I couldn't be happier. read more

I recently had a water leak problem with my furnace and remembered Cranney Home Services had left information about their company at my door and decided to give them a call. I have to say I am very impressed with their scheduling service and the professionalism of their technicians. They call you a half hour before to let you know the tech is on the way and if they are running behind Cranney gives you a call to keep you updated on the status...not many companies do that! I decided to sign up for the plan they offer. As part of that plan you receive 4 service inspections per year. I had the electrical inspection done and while they were here the tech even fixed a couple of minor things at no cost. I rarely take the time to do Yelp reviews but I felt Cranney deserved recognition of a job well done! l see some bad reviews here, time will tell, but from my experiences to date I would definitely use Cranney Home Services. read more

It's hard to give a bad review to a company that we actually didn't have do the work, but I feel very strongly that Cranney employs deceptive business practices. Long story short, I was led to believe one price and when the plumber was in my house I was given another. They wanted close to $500 to snake a clogged bath drain. $500! It's their "flat fee". If I had known this would be the price, rather than the $149 on the website, I would never have had them come. In their defence, I was never quoted a price but I was certainly led to believe that the cost would be more reasonable. I had to eat the $50 call out fee but I really did not want to be taken advantage of. I ended up calling another company who came and did the job for $135. I've learned to always ask for a price, or at least a range, and to always shop around. read more

We have an older home and inherited two external faucets which had not been looked at since we bought the house in 1989. Last winter we were unable to move the valves that shut off the water to the faucets so we decided to get new valves installed. We also had an access problem to one of the valves. Frank T. came out to look at the job and pointed out that some of the water pipes were in a bad condition and needed replacing. We had already replaced some water pipes in the surrounding area, so I knew he wasn't just seeking extra work. Frank installed new pipes and valves and rerouted one valve to make it more accessible. He also installed new faucets, which I did wonder about, until he showed us the old ones. It wasn't cheap but it was a very professional and thorough job. read more

We woke up this morning to our condo at 61 degrees (we have it set to 68)...and it's about 24 degrees outside right now. When we went down to the basement to investigate the situation, we heard our boiler making weird noises and decided to call the number listed on the boiler. A few hours later, two men arrived. They inspected the boiler and ran some tests, all the while explaining the possible issues to me in plain language. They quickly resolved the problem by flushing out the old water and installing a new part, and now the heat is back on in the condo in full force. Throughout their visit, they were polite, professional, and helped me learn a little about how the heating in our building works. Thank you so much, Cranney! read more

Just wanted to say "Thank you" for a job well done by Nick I. & Nick R. really nice guys and very professional. Had to call on an emergency for a water issue coming through my living room ceiling from my upstairs bathroom. Nick I. immediately knew what the problem was (a hole in the drain pipe) and went to town replacing it. Not only did he do a great job repairing it he also offered to clean out the tub from the debris. This is the 3rd time in 7 weeks I had to call Cranney for service and each time their technicians have been very professional and kind. My husband and I are very happy we took the 1yr. service plan, it has helped greatly in reducing the final cost of everything. Again, thanks Nick you did a great job!! read more

We live in Boxford and have had quite a few power outages. We decided to buy a "Whole House" generator. After several consultations we selected Cranney to do the work. Their price was excellent and their crew was top notch. Very professional, courteous and hard working. This job entails both plumbing (for the gas line) and electrical. It is very complicated but the crew explained any questions and offered to come back as necessary. Cranney also has a reminder system for appointments that works really well. Crew was prompt and response time for emails/tel calls was excellent. Great job. We signed up for their annual household maintenance program as well. read more

Anthony was great - he was able to get right to the source of my problems and took care of them quickly. Anthony was professional, efficient, and very neat. When he was done, my drain was running better than before and found a few other areas to fix and you'd never have known he was there as the clean up was impeccable! I am very grateful and would highly recommend their services and Anthony to anyone that has plumbing problems and needs prompt attention. Anthony spent 9 hours on the job and he put in extra effort and snaked my drains and found my clogs. we had a new sink put in and it looks and works great. Anthony is highly recommended ! He gets an A + read more

Thank you, Justin of Cranney Companies, for terrific service on my clogged Insinkerator disposal. While I find it extremely annoying that Insinkerator, which dominates the market to begin with, requires a "special tool" -- an Allen wrench!!!!-- to unclog the unit, I am delighted that I called you guys. As was the case with some electrical work we had done by CHS a few months ago, the work was done quickly and the workers were friendly, cheerful and more than willing to explain what was being done. And, they were here within a couple of hours! I'll recommend Cranney Home Services to others without hesitation. read more

This was a routine service of our boiler but the engineer, Frank, was really friendly, informative and professional. It was the first time Cranney had serviced our boiler. On this evidence, I would definitely at least get a quote for larger work. Just one thing to note: when I booked the appointment, I was told the cost would be $105 and no mention was made of a call out fee. Frank had expected the call center to have informed me of this, which they hadn't done, so he waived that and apologized for the lack of clarity. Not sure if that's an empty charge, just something to be careful of. read more

Every technician/employee at Cranney was knowledgeable, professional, and polite. We had to have our central air replaced after 22 years. Because our subpar 1970s electrical system couldn't support it, the job turned out to be much bigger in scope. They pulled a crew off another job in order to complete the work on ours. At every stage Cranney's workers explained what was to be done, asked if we had any questions, and went over all of our options. Our new system is running beautifully! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or hire them again. read more

Hi, the water heater I've had for over 20 years began leaking and needed to be replaced. Nick came to my condo and explained why it needed to be replaced and also how it worked ( who knows these things). Two excellent fellows came to do the replacement, Richie and Zack. Removed it cleanly, took it away and installed the new unit. Didnt want to do this on a cold winters day in February but was really glad Its work done. Ive used Cranny for previous work and they can fix anything fast and reliably . Peter b in Bradford Ma read more

I would give six stars if you had them. These guys were great. I had a clogged drain/garbage disposal. They came out and gave me an estimate; the problem turned out to be much more complicated and took longer to solve than anticipated, but they honored the original estimate. They were courteous, considerate, professional. They cleaned up after the job and were apologetic for how long it took and the little inconveniences, none of which were their fault. I highly recommend this company based on this experience. read more

Called Cranny for quote on new furnace. Called several other 's for quote. Cranny was fair excellent work, professional service and job was done in one day. I can not tell you what a difference the heating efficiency the power of new furnace is great. One week later manager of installation came to inspect and we couldn't be happier. After three previous visits from other companies, Cranney came in, did the hard work and resolved a persistent problem. True to their word. A+ service began with initial inquiry call. Return calls were made promptly, scheduling was easy, known costs were provided upfront, service specialist was very competent; he listened carefully, performed troubleshooting and prepared full cost estimate. A nice respectful touch was that wet boots were covered before walking through the house. read more

We worked with Cranney for a new heating/cooling system and water boiler. The sales rep comes to your house and works with you and leaves after about 2 hours and you have your offer on paper, in your hands! The installation crew was nice and friendly and did a nice job cleaning up after themselves those 2 days they were here and took the old installation and packaging materials with them when they left! Scheduling, follow up appointment etc was great. Would absolutely recommend them read more

Totally professional problem solvers is what I wanted and what I got! This is the 3rd time I've called Cranney, all for different problems, in the year I've had my new home. Every time they came they were wonderful, and every time the problem was fixed. They explained the problem and what needed to be done to fix the problem and the options and costs. Cranney is the best. and the service techs are without peer!!!!!!!!! Their service plan is very reasonable and one I recommend. read more
