I've been using Ken and his team for several years after a referral from a friend. They have been professional, reasonable; informative, helpful, and have proven work. I recently decided to try replacing my very old sink disposal that was making a loud grinding noise. It was at least 30 years old so I wasn't surprised. The repair was surprisingly easy as I used the same brand to replace and the flange is the same after decades so I didn't need to do the hard work of interacting with the sink itself. When I pulled out the old unit, sure enough there was Ken's sticker on it from when he installed it for the prior owners of my home decades earlier! It was so old it didn't have an area code needed. Ken's team also told me about some repairs that could be safely deferred and done with the help of the local town when they did other repairs they are responsible for, which saved me about $1000. I have to upgrade my experience. Since our first encounter with Absolute, we had a couple new issues arise and they were the first ones I called. The first one was a leaky radiator pipe in our bedroom which they were able to fix quickly and saved us from having a major problem if the leak continued and or if the pipe outright busted. The technician also noticed a problem with our water tank and gave us suggestions as to how to fix it. I gave him the green light and he was able to do everything in one day which saved time and rescheduling costs. This past week, I asked them to do what was supposedly a quick and easy faucet replacement in a bathroom sink but it turned out to be more complicated than expected. Bryan and very good in explaining everything and getting all the repairs done. So, after using them 3 times and been extremely satisfied with the results, I felt that I needed to upgrade the number of stars to reflect how much I appreciated their time, work, professionalism and helpfulness. I called today (Sunday) for a non-emergency, but something very worrisome to me. I got a text back saying he'd call me in the morning. He also asked for some photos and after sending, he gave me some tips on how to resolve the issue myself. So far, it has worked. It may not be the long term fix that I eventually need, but if this gets me through this time period, I'll be forever grateful. What's more amazing is this guy doesn't know me at all. He could've just come out and charged me a boatload, but instead, he worked through an issue with me over text on a Sunday. This is not common and I value this a lot. The reality is my furnace (and the whole darn system) needs replacing, and this experience will make me go straight to Absolute and not to some quoting engine with a bunch of suppliers. I called Absolute Precision on Wednesday on a referral from Mr Handyman for a faucet replacement. Ken called me twice on Wednesday to set an appointment for Thursday after 12. Thursday around 4:30 I call asking about an eta. "Brian was there at 1:30. There was no answer and we had the wrong phone number. "We'll come tomorrow after 12" Friday afternoon Brian shows up and tells me the faucet needs a special tool and he doesn't have it. The last time he tried without it it was 7 hours. He will have to come back on Monday after 12, he will call on the way. Monday I called around 4:30. Ken calls back and tells me Brian got hurt Friday and he wasn't aware that I was scheduled. They will be here at 8am "on the dot" tomorrow. Brian shows up at 8:20, with the attitude that I'm lucky he's here. I said forget it. Called Ken, who basically laughed at me. Obviously, they think their time is far more valuable than others. Happy ending though. I called Magnifico plumbing at 9am. He said late afternoon. Mark Magnifico showed up with Jack. In and out in less than 30 minutes. The "special tool" was apparently a wrench and the price was $200 less. read more

I first came across Ken and Absolute Precision Plumbing about four years ago, when I moved into my new home. I was looking for someone to do an oil to gas conversion and some other smaller projects. I really like Ken's high level of professionalism which you find across the board with his entire crew, but also found him to be very knowledgeable, genuine, pleasant and kind. Ken and his crew always present themselves very well, are punctual, polite and produce quality work every time. I like working with Ken because he was always so helpful and patient, and took the time to explain things to me. I really like his attention to detail too, regardless of the project he is working on. I felt I could trust Ken from the beginning, because he was honest with me when I asked him a couple of questions about other areas of the house. He actually told me I didn't need to replace certain tings, so he never tried to get me to do unnecessary work. I had pretty much made up my mind I wanted to work with Ken for the oil to gas conversion but decided to get a couple of other quotes, just for comparison. I thought because Ken is so good at what he does, and has so many years of experience, his quote might be on the higher side, but I was thrilled to see how competitive his rates are. He was not the most expensive and very reasonable!! I am so glad I had Absolute Precision Plumbing do the conversion. Ken was so helpful and patient, every step of the way. He walked me through the steps I needed to do to get ready e.g. who to reach out to, to have the oil tank removed, and helped me with the Mass Save paperwork. I felt like he treated me like I was his only customer! I would reach out with questions and he was always so responsive. He would reply to me immediately sometimes, or if he was in the middle of a job, let me know, and tell me when we could talk. He just made the whole process so easy for me. You just don't get this level of customer service elsewhere. I found out afterward that he did a lot of work for several of my neighbors and is their plumber too! The actual oil to gas conversion itself went very smoothly as well. I appreciated how the entire crew treat your house like it is their own. Even in my old basement (which I cared less about), they covered everything and were very careful. I especially liked that Ken and his crew were cognizant of my cats and communicated what they needed to do, and where they needed to go. They were careful not to leave any doors open and were always very considerate. I had a very positive experience with Brad, as well as Ken, who communicated throughout the project. I trusted Ken and his crew to the point that I felt comfortable letting them work in my house while I was at work. I would not do that with any company but I had no concerns with them. I was and am so happy with the final result. I felt that Ken genuinely wanted me to be happy with his work and he really did do a beautiful job. It's fantastic and, wow, am I enjoying the energy savings, especially in the winter!!! - It's much more financially than I thought! Over the years and even recently, I consistently had and have a positive experience with Ken. Last weekend I had an issue with a couple of pipes in my basement. I sent Ken an email and a video of what was going on and figured I'd call Monday. It was Saturday night and he emailed me back about an hour later, telling me what was going on and what I needed to do. We've got some diy plumbing, and Ken has been out to help us fix a few issues, including a leak in our kitchen sink and another in our bathroom sink. * Re-plumbed the house plumbing so the pipes in the foundation/concrete were no longer in use. * Re-plumbed the water meter where it comes into the house so that the town could properly install a new meter. * Added a utility sink in the basement. The whole process was very good. Ken came to evaluate our needs. He spent a good deal of time with me discussing what I was trying to achieve and reviewing options. We did not have to pay for his time and as promised, a few days later he provided a quote. The quote was very detailed and described the plan we had arrived at from his onsite visit. We had asked for different parts of work to be quoted separately because we weren't sure we were going to do all the work at once and the quote reflected that request. Once we moved forward and scheduled the work, Ken and his team arrived when expected and worked diligently to complete the work quickly. They cleaned up after themselves and were willing to help me prepare the worksite (moving some heavy objects and the like) without complaint. One thing in particular that I appreciated was Ken's willingness to adapt to some less than ideal circumstances and to some changes to the plan. For instance, we weren't able to schedule the town to replace the water meter as expected which meant a little more work for Ken and his crew. I also asked for some additional fixtures (shutoff valves) to be installed with the new utility sink). Ken accommodated these requests without complaint. He looked at the faucet, asked where we bought it and told us it was not good merchandise and not worth fixing. He never touched it. He charged us a $99.00 service fee and told us to call when we bought a new fixture from a plumbing supply house. Our faucet is only 2 years old and from a reputable manufacturer. This morning my neighbor who is not a plumber but is smart and handy came over and fixed it in 5 minutes. Just a broken washer piece. I think that says it all. Absolute Precision is a farce. Thought it was so smart that he had me text a picture so they had a better idea of the problem and how to prepare for the call. I've used Absolute Precision on two occasions and was very satisfied with their service both times. 1) My hot water heater wasn't working and they assessed the situation and replaced it on the same day. 2) My top floor HVAC unit wasn't blowing hot air during the winter and they came to my house twice until they identified the problem and cleaned the heat sensor which made the system consistently blow hot air and work properly again. A week before Christmas, I woke at 4:00 AM to blaring smoke detectors. A pipe on our heating system had burst, and the basement was full of steam and hot water. Brad was there by 8:30 AM to repair the damaged pipe and replace the faulty parts on our ancient boiler. A couple of weeks later, Ken and his crew put in a new high-efficiency gas boiler with domestic hot water supply for a fair price. I called and left a message as I only needed a small check on my AC as it was not getting as cold as it should be. We scheduled a appointment about 4 days later as I was going to be home and he fit me in to I'm assuming a very busy time. We contracted Ken Roberts and his associates at Absolute Precision Plumbing to convert our oil furnace to a high-efficiency gas furnace, and to install a gas line and new gas range. We chose Absolute Precision based not only on the positive ratings on Angie's List, but because of the professionalism and responsiveness shown during the estimate process, as well as the thoroughness of the estimate. Absolute Precision's estimate was very competitive with other estimates we had done, but more important, was extremely detailed and informative. Ken provided two detailed estimates, each describing a different option for installing and updating the heating system. He provided extensive information on the conversion process, advice on dealing with the gas company regarding incentives, and, once we signed the contract, began work immediately as promised. The work involved disconnection and removal of an oil-fueled furnace, ordering and installation of a natural gas furnace, wrapping of all ductwork, and installing an exterior ventilation for the furnace. Also, installing a gas line into the kitchen and installing a gas range. The work was done exactly as described, down to the last detail. All members of the crew were pleasant, professional, and did an excellent job. Our new range and gas furnace work flawlessly. All work-related debris was cleared away, and the work was completed in the time Ken estimated. I figured maybe he didn't get the message. So I called again - two more times. No call back. In my opinion, it's pretty rotten to not call someone back even if you aren't interested in the job. It's really just common courtesy and really good business practice. It kind of makes me wonder if all the great reviews were from relatives. I have read with interest the reviews on Absolute Precision. I recommend that any prospective customer STAY AWAY from that company and never use its principal Ken Roberts. Some years ago we engaged the services of Absolute Precision. After we paid Mr. Roberts and his partner tens on thousands of dollars for a HVAC system, the heating system routinely failed. The house was typically at 55º in the morning, as the heating system had shut down overnight. I made repeated contacts to Mr. Roberts to remedy the situation. In fact, Mr. Roberts had under-engineered the system, recognized that he did not know what he was doing, and needed to call a heating specialists from Wakefield. That heating specialist subsequently called a specialist from Melrose to help him. I was subsequently STUCK WITH THE BILL for the services to finish the work which Mr. Roberts had incorrectly designed. Of course, I could have sought legal recourse. We all know how that works don't we? At what cost in time and effort would that recourse have made? Beware. read more
