We came in around 2pm for a late lunch on labor day, it was not busy at all which made sense since I'm sure people were at work or at a labor day event. I tried a $5 dirty martini, their special on Mondays are $5 martinis and burgers, I chose not to get a burger because I'm cutting down on my beef consumption. I got the chicken sliders with fries, it's listed as an appetizer, but I got it as my meal because it looked delicious and it was! It was a perfectly portioned lunch for me, 3 sliders with a small side of fries. The dirty martini I got was strong and tasted good. It was my 1st non-sweet martini. I may stick to the girly/sweet martinis from now on though, but if you don't like sweet alcoholic beverages I recommend trying a dirty martini. My boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich and liked it, it came with a small side of fries which he was surprised by, but he ate everything and was full. I like this place when it's quiet, when it's loud, it's LOUD. It can get overwhelming, but I guess it's the nature of places like this when they're crowded. My company hosted another after hours social for employees. This time, I made arrangements ahead of time for our event. When I arrived, our tables were already moved around and had reserved signs on them. We could not have asked for better service. We ordered a ton of appetizers and desserts over a 2 hour period and everything came out quickly and was fantastic. I am pretty sure we ordered everything on the sharing menu and everything I tried was wonderful. I especially enjoyed the cheeseburger sliders as they were all done medium. Many times when you order a hamburger slider they arrive dead and overcooked. I also want to give a shoutout to the fried mac n cheese balls. Those are a little ball of heaven on a plate. I came in for their happy hr deal on a Monday, which also happens to be $5 burger day!! $5 for a pretty decent sized burger and fries is hard to beat BUT you have to pay for additional toppings which is kind of annoying but w.e. The most annoying part of that is that cheese is an extra $1.25!! (For CHEESE?!) ANYWAY, I would come back for the deal bc like I said, it's hard to beat. The burger is big-ish, the bun is soft and buttery, and the fries are crispy and tasty. Another positive is the beer selection. They have a good variety of everything and a really large selection of IPAs (which I looove). I also really like the interior of the restaurant. It kind of has a hip brewery feel and they have an outside area under shade as well! The service was okay. Our server was nice enough and answered questions about the menu, but didn't come back to refill our waters or ask us about the food. Which is kind of unreasonable since they appeared to be really slow that night. Another qualm I had was that I wanted my burger without tomatoes or lettuce (yes, I'm a picky eater) and it came with both!! However, I wasn't too distraught because our server took it back so the chef could take them off. All in all, I would come back for happy hour because the food was good and there's pretty good deals. So, I'd been to Crafthouse when it was World of Beer - this was my first time there since the change(s). To be honest, to me, not much has changed - the menu's a bit different, but they still have a ton of selection for draft beers as well as bottles, still offer cocktails, still have lots of TVs, and still have promotions (tap takeovers, sports on TV, trivia nights, etc.). Honestly, I don't really have anything bad to say about this place. Is the food great? No, but if you're starving and not super picky, they have options that are pretty decent (honestly, you can't go wrong with the tots, even though I personally order them plain). What you're going for here is the beer, and on that, they continue to deliver. They offer a great selection, including local places, broken up by category, with tons of different options. I don't think I've ever gone there and had issues trying to fill up a sampler (comes in 4 5oz glasses). Some have mentioned the service as being crappy, but I will say that our service this past Friday was pretty good and the place was JAMMED. The only comment I'd make was we asked for plates and silverware for our appetizer and that took a bit more time than it probably should have but I'm sure they were prioritizing getting beer out (and besides, we had the tots, and those you could eat with your hands anyway!). A good place to go if you're looking for a wide variety of beer. Honestly, the only upgrade I could see is putting a TV or two outside when the weather is nice. Came to Crafthouse for a Paint Nite event with a friend and decided to have dinner beforehand. First, they had no soda because the machine wasn't working. I asked if they had rootbeer since it is pretty common for these types of places to have it on tap. The waiter was unsure and said if they did it was probably alcoholic (it wasn't). Second, we both ordered grilled cheese sandwiches, but they had no butter and were just on toast. My friend ordered the brisket which was rubbery and fatty. I got the Washington with turkey, cheddar, and apples, hold the avocado. Mine tasted fine, but it was very dry since it was just toasted. The tables for the painting event were very close together and the wait staff had trouble getting food to people sitting in the middle. When the event started, they did not turn down the music but they did lower the lights, so we could not hear the teacher, nor could we see what we were painting. They turned the lights back up after a few minutes, but it was a disappointing experience. I think this was the first Paint Nite event they've hosted, so hopefully they'll do better next time. read more

This place took over World of Beer, or they changed names, I'm not sure which. In any case, it seems like a fun place that I would definitely want to go to again. My favorite part is the beer garden, an outdoor area surrounded by greenery that gives the illusion of privacy while you sip your ales and lagers. We did not try the food this time around, so I can't comment on that. But the service was good, our server was pleasant and helpful, and she suggested some beers when I asked her what they had for darker beers. They have a nice variety and everything was available, which is really great. She was more than happy to give us samples when we weren't sure which ones we wanted to have. The inside bar looks nice too, mostly everyone was outside though because it was such a nice night. We have been here a couple times for casual meals. If you're looking for standard pub fare like wings, Bavarian pretzels, cheese sticks, burgers... it's a good option. Most recently we came and ordered all happy hour foods and sat outside. The outside area is huge and it's a nice place to hang out with friends. The wings and cheese sticks were very good, but the Nachos were not. They usually come with chili but I substituted chicken. Unfortunately that made them very dry because they just kind of throw on cubed chicken on top, whereas I expected it to be shredded and intermixed with the toppings. Our server was very nice, but she knew some of the people dining near us. So after dropping off our food, she sat down with them and talked for the rest of our time there. We had to flag down a manager for napkins and utensils, and we had to wait a long time after we finished for her to come back so we could get the check. This is my favorite bar in Fairfax! My fiancé and I have been regulars at Crafthouse since it first opened as WOB. Since switching over to crafthouse, I've noticed the food quality and taste is better, and they still have the same great service!! We usually come to crafthouse and sit at the bar for drinks and some munchies after a long work week, but we decided to go for their taco Tuesday/happy hour this time. I've had their tacos before and they're a slice of heaven wrapped in a flour tortilla. You get two HUGE tacos for six dollars. When I say huge, I mean huge; pretty sure I had to unhinge my jaw to get a couple bites in! I had their ahi tuna taco and the steak taco. Both were delicious and come with a wedge of lime and fresh jalapeños to add heat and acidity to your liking. The tuna is fresh and mouth watering, and the sauce on top is so good I could drink it with a straw. My fiancé and I shared an order of their crafthouse tots as our side. These tots are loaded with cheese, sour cream, bacon, chives, and fresh jalapeños. Be careful, some of the jalapeños pack a ton of heat! We finished with an order of monkey bread. First and foremost let me say the best thing crafthouse did in the transition from WOB is add ice cream to all of the dessert options; I used to always avoid desserts at WOB because I felt they were lacking ice cream! Crafthouse has definitely become our version. Of "Cheers", most of the people their know our names, stop and talk to us, and have even changed the tv to the Penguins hockey games (sorry caps fans...) so we had a better view! I can't vouch for bar vs. table service since I usually sit at the bar, but you're always in good hands at the bar! Why can't I order at the bar if I wanted to? I used to work as a server at a bar and as a Starbucks barista and I never told a customer where they had to order. The cherry on the top of this horrendous experience at Crafthouse was the fact that we ended up ordering the nachos that were $10 and it was definitely worse than the Taco Bell nachos I had last week. When first opened, we went and had a great meal. Burgers, fries, pretzel. Excellent. In Summer we ate outside, food was so-so. Servers were excellent. Last week, we walked in for lunch, around 1pm. No one was eating in there. No servers to greet us. A couple of people at the bar, and bartender, but he didn't help us at all. Saw us. Nothing. First time coming to this restaurant and I have to say I was disappointed. We went on a Sunday about 12:15pm, they had been open about an hour. We asked to watch the Orioles game and were told that the manager said no because all of the 18 tv's were being used for football. Not one of the tv's could be used for baseball. I ordered a burger with lettuce, tomatoe, cheese, and thousand island dressing. when the burger arrived I asked for silverware and they said they didn't have any clean silverware yet. My waiter did find a fork for me. When the burger arrived the thousand island dressing was missing. My waiter did go back and get it for me. I was surprised to see that I was charged an extra $.35 for the dressing. This just seems silly. On a positive note while my burger was not cooked as I had ordered, it was hot and very tasty. Our waiter and the other bartenders were very friendly and helpful. As a baseball fan I won't go back. I would have loved to sit, have a few drinks, and enjoyed our local baseball team who is headed to the playoffs. Very disappointing. read more
