I visited with my daughter and son-in-law and we were very [mpressed with the food and staff.The food was very fresh and just tasted so good

The 5-star rating system asks "how would you rate your experience", and unfortunately one person made our experience negative enough to feel compelled to leave this review. Over the years, this restaurant has been great. Never a complaint. I have referred friends. Today, was different. My dish was great (veggie frittata with goat cheese). My mother's (avocado toast) was served with a "cold" poached egg. Literally cold to the touch, not saying undercooked, but cold. So my mother kindly pointed this out and our server apologized and said she would take care of it. But this resulted in a clearly agitated guy (wish I would have got his name, however the manager was on duty this morning) who acted burdened but he took care of it and a replacement dish came out shortly after. But what happened next stunned me. I ordered a hot tea "hot water w/ tea bag". This is my usual dine-in order beverage of choice. It cost me $4. When our waiter (who was lovely by the way) refilled the hot water, I asked for another tea bag (so I could brew the next serving). When she came back, she did inform me that they will "need to charge me for the extra tea bag." I never experienced a dine-in restaurant say this (most establishments bring out an entire basket of tea bags, all included in the price). But I just agreed to it without clarifying the cost. I just figured it would be 25 cents, maybe 50? surely not more than a dollar? But then we got the bill and it was an extra $4.00! My "dine-in" tea cost $8.00. I used the same cup, just one additional tea bag. And let's be clear, this wasn't a latte, no additional ingredients, such as sugar or creams (come to think of it that was never offered to me. And even if it was, I wouldn't use it.) Just a teabag and hot water. Our server was kind and attentive. But had I known that the "extra charge for the additional teabag" meant the cost of an entirely new drink, I would've made a different decision. And so we thought this was absurd and let our waitress know. So she went to go see what she could do about it and once again, the even more agitated man appeared. There was no empathy for our situation, in fact he just sarcastically said "well yeah that's what happens, the drink is hot water and a teabag and we charge four dollars and so you wanted an additional teabag". I do get on a surface level with the guy was trying to say. But give me a break. I would totally get it if this was a Starbucks, and I understand they have a similar style "to go" business. But this is primarily a "dine-in" operation. In fact, this is why I believe they indicate on the receipt that my tea was a "dine in" tea. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think they specify the difference because it's absurd to think of charging someone an additional four dollars for a teabag if you're dining in. If I went to Starbucks, and I asked for two teabags, I can imagine them trying to charge me twice, but I almost wonder and now I want to try it just to see what happens. But yet again, it was this man's approach and lack of empathy and sarcasm, and just being a jerk in general with no sympathy to our situation. Considering my mom got a cold egg to begin with, considering that the "extra charge" was not communicated clearly as an entirely additional drink, if it were me, I would've said to the customer; "I completely understand where you're coming from, we should've been more clear about this, and since we screwed up with your first order, let this extra teabag be on us." Because that extra teabag is now costing them a lot more with my negative review and my sharing of the story to others whoever bring up going there for breakfast again. That teabag probably costs around 10 cents, and if I were the owner, I think I would see the benefit and taking a hit on that .10. And by the way, this wasn't some kind of organic tea blessed by shamans shipped from a mythical tea farm either. Just as basic as it comes. Im sorry CRAFT. But you have to demand better from your representatives because it makes all the difference. Your establishment is beautiful, your menu is unique, and I enjoy your food. But this was a BS move and we feel ripped off. So I have to use my only channel to self advocate and warn others "beware of asking for another tea bag". read more

What? Absolutely amazing. I don't know what I've been doing with my life. This meal was sooo delectable. I mean I rarely give reviews on my initial visit anywhere. Completely outside of myself with the quality of these selections. Absolutely incredible. Words cannot explain the overwhelming sensation my palate is experiencing. Came at Sunday at 11:45 and was quoted a 20-30 min wait but ended up being seated 15 mins later. I had tried to check in on Yelp beforehand but it said that there was no wait. Seems like they don't update the check-in option regularly so I would keep that in mind when coming here during peak hours. The vibe is farmhouse-like with some barn doors and fake plants that are hanging from the sky. It's very casual. The seating is a bit uncomfortable here. The booths are this hard wood with a 90 degree angle to a straight back with no cushion. The tables have really uncomfortable metal chairs. Our server was super attentive and friendly and we really enjoyed her service. She was fun to talk to but also gave us our space once our food came and was quick with the check when she noticed we were ready for it. Honestly, the best type of service! The food was all okay. Nothing blew us away but everything was enjoyable. The waffles for the chicken & waffles were great. Perfectly fluffy! But the chicken was bland and needed more seasoning. You could tell that there was no seasoning in the batter. Still, I appreciated that the chicken was juicy and not dry at all. Croissant Sammy was good but also bland and could have used some more salt on the eggs. The chilaquiles had great flavor but the chorizo was dry. I really wish we could give half stars because I would give this place a 3.5. Not necessarily somewhere I would seek out on my own but wouldn't ever say no to either. read more

When you walk in you first notice the place is busy. Beautiful interior. Very modern, style, inviting. But, it kind of went very average after that. We were put on a waitlist, which we agreed to no problem. The bar was available, she mentioned, but I don't like my feet dangling from high seats. So I opted to wait. But, after careful consideration of the time constraint, we notified her we'd be okay with the bar. She said, okay and we waited to be seated. We stood for about 5 minutes patiently, then when she directed four people to go to the bar, before taking us we were confused. Then she mentioned, "oh, it's open seating." Okay, was unclear initially on that, so the manager noticed and sat us a a small booth immediately. We were very thankful. Once we sat, everything from that point on was a wait. And we didn't mind the wait, for food, so much as the amount of time we kept waiting for our server. The reason for the three Star was that everything felt pretty subpar. The food was okay. Well proportioned, but not very flavored. We got the breakfast burrito, a side of bacon l and the churro waffles. And we started with the lemon blueberry muffin. The breakfast burrito was a good size to share. I think it just needed more seasoning. The salsa that came with it had a great heat to it but no flavor. We added our seasonings. The churro waffles... wayyyy too much cinnamon. It was hard to enjoy I felt like I was eating sugar. Maybe that's just my preference. The lemon blueberry muffin was really good. The strawberry matcha was okay also. Our was kind of warm, so I think they just lacked ice. All small things that could change the experience next time around. It's worth a try. I'm sure the experience I will vary for every person. I like that they have a bakery :) and the menu prices are very reasonable for all of the options they have. I knew there was potential for a wait, so I made sure to check the app before heading there. I was sad immediately upon arrival and that was nice. The short rib was so tender and flavorful. Havarti is one of my favorite cheeses, and added a special touch when coupled with short rib. Had breakfast here 2 days in a row this weekend! The menu had so many great things I want to try so I will definitely be back. This place was very busy both days so definitely popular. They told us it gets a lot busier as the day progresses so good to get there early or do the Yelp waitlist and then check in when you arrive to get bumped to the top. We got lucky and didn't have to wait either day. I had the chicken and waffles on the first day because "chicken and waffles"! Every place I've ordered this dish from has their own twist on it whether it's bone-in versus boneless chicken, the type of sauce (spicy or sweet), etc. I have to say this may be my favorite chicken and waffles to date, definitely at the top. The chicken to waffle ratio was perfect. It's boneless chicken making it much easier to consume. I was given the option of sweet or spicy and our waitress was kind enough to give me the sweet but a little spicy on the side to try out. Both were tasty but I'll likely stick with sweet. On day two I noticed the KFC Korean Chicken Sammy which sounded delicious so decided to try something new. It did not disappoint. Lots of flavor down to the very fresh Ube bun. I also had the garlic Parmesan fries which were very good.
