Disappointing yellow curry, I don't get the impression curry is a strong point of theirs. I ordered delivery. The yellow curry was all wrong. -the dish was prepared more like a stir-fry that the curry sauce was poured over, which is not traditional -- the tofu was fried (not traditional), there was lots of oil from what seemed like a stir-frying process, the onions were barely cooked and still crunchy (should be simmered and soft), it didn't suit the curry situation well to have basically these stir-fried vegetables and protein submerged in it and it added unnecessary oil to what would typically be a seed oil-free dish -the tofu was heavily fried, making me wonder if it was even put in the deep fryer, this is not appropriate for curry where it should be just simmered, it's worrying if they are adding oil and frying to dishes that don't traditionally call for it -the potatoes were red potatoes, which are not traditional, usually it's Yukon gold waxy yellow potatoes. potato pieces also too large and it made it hard to eat without cutting them with a spoon. -not many carrots -onions were undercooked, too crisp, not soft as all the veggies and meats should be in a Thai curry -they tried to make it spicy by dumping in green Thai chiles like you'd find in a plastic serving container on the table, but they fell to the bottom, this isn't a good way to make Thai curry spicy and good restaurants don't do this, they incorporate the spice into paste and sauce -there was a layer of oil on top, Thai curry really shouldn't be oily if it's done well -the rice had a good texture but odd taste like it needed salt or wasn't washed enough or something, just a flat, unpleasant taste -it didn't taste that great and the textures didn't go together well, sometimes people innovate on Thai food and it works well, but these innovations didn't work well -they included a free pandan brownie, which is a nice gesture, but the brownie was like bright green, suggesting they used food dye and making it seem like they could be more about appearances and novelty than about solid traditional cooking -the serving size wasn't great, it barely half-filled the to-go container when most places will fill a container this size with curry -lastly, the price was really high, would have been $24 for chicken curry so that's why I got tofu ($18), but $24 for chicken curry is really high in Vegas, about 33-40% over the standard price which is around $17-$18. for $24 I'd be expecting really high-quality with curry paste made from scratch, large serving, perfect execution, etc., something beyond the standard. the one good thing was the packaging and the non-plastic silverware, actually very high-quality silverware made by a B Corporation company read more

I'm in love with the decor - the colors and classy vibe. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, even the people who didn't directly serve me. The menu is simple (which I appreciate because it's easier to make decisions). They even have a special seasonal add-on menu. What was ordered: Pineapple Fried Rice - cute presentation (inside a half pineapple). Ordered a spice level 3 which wasn't too spicy. Thai Chicken & Rice (Khao Mun Gai) - I was happy with this. We were seated at a booth with a blue and teal color scheme with gold accents and every detail from the plates to the lighting was classy and well thought of. Perfect for date night. Service was phenomenal. I asked for a Ketel Gibson and since they didn't have the traditional cocktail onions, he went to the kitchen and got the pickled onions for garnish. So creative and pretty, and it worked! We opted for the shrimp toast, pad thai ( one of the best I've ever had) fried enoki mushrooms and roasted chicken. This Thai place was not what I expected. The location itself is kinda distant from the strip but totally accessible. Especially if you're staying at places like South point hotel or Grandview timeshare. Walking into the restaurant we were greeted by smiling and welcoming staff. First time trying Blue Orchid. The service was very good. We didn't have to wait long. Staff was friendly. Restaurant was clean and had a comfortable ambiance. I ordered the lunch special which included a choice of soup and entree with a side of jasmine rice. I went with the yellow curry with chicken and chicken pad Thai. The yellow curry was quite good. The issue was the chicken pad Thai. The bean sprouts were simply annoying. There were too many, they didn't do much for the flavor, and their size made it a little uncomfortable to eat. The pad Thai itself was too sweet. It seemed like it was missing salt and a savory element. The lunch special was a fair price but the regular menu seemed significantly overpriced compared to other Thai restaurants of similar quality. Sitting in a new little commercial area in the middle of nowhere, 10 min south of the Strip, this location must attract primarily residents in the nearby new apartments and the residents of upscale neighborhoods in West Henderson/Anthem. The inside decor, with all the fake hanging plants, is very well done, creating expectations of an extraordinary dining experience. It was 20% full at 6 p.m. on a Friday and 40% full at 8 p.m. when we left (not a great sign). Drink service was a bit slow. Most $14 craft cocktails were very sweet and not strong. Wine pours might prompt you to ask if they were a joke: 3-4 ounces. No exaggeration. Basically a half glass. Draft beers for $8 were served in a small, probably 10-12 ounce max, glass. Definitely not a typical pint (16 oz.). Beer was also almost room temperature. Spring rolls were bland and boring, with a filling that was just 90% cabbage. They were also served too hot, and a couple of people burned their tongues. Yellow curry, Pad Thai (which looked nothing like a typical family-size shareable portion), and the deep-fried cod special were good, not spectacular. Fried rice dishes were good tasting, especially the pineapple fried rice served in a half pineapple, but there was way too much oil in the rice. Tom soup served at the table was gimmicky but enjoyable. Their signature Khao Mun Gai dish was a ripoff. It consisted of a small portion of boneless chicken thighs like you get at a teriyaki shop for $12, but with half as much chicken (and $27) on a huge pile of rice with this delicious gravy sauce, which they gave too little of. The chicken had a hint of marinade, and pieces varied from juicy to rubbery. Overall, a disappointment, mainly on protein portion size given the price and the fact it was just thigh meat. I could not stop thinking of the word "shrinkflation" or "California prices" when leaving this place. If you put a premium on the decor, aren't very price sensitive, don't drink alcohol, and happen to order a hit rather than a miss off the menu, you might find Blue Orchid quite enjoyable, living up to its 4.5-star average. Otherwise, it seems to me the great decor may be overshadowing the actual value, and quality for some menu items, of the food and drinks overall. Caution on service expectations, as it appears understaffed, so service could be slow when it's over 50% capacity. read more

We decided to check out this new Thai restaurant after seeing a beautiful social media post that made both the food and atmosphere look amazing. We arrived right at opening around noon and were the first guests there aside from one other person. The space itself is beautiful: boho but upscale, with warm teal and brown tones, and a nice variety of seating including tables, booths, and bar seating. Parking is also very easy, with plenty of free spaces directly in front and throughout the shopping center. We started with a pomegranate and lychee mocktail that was delicious and really hit the spot. For appetizers, we ordered the chicken skins and pork belly skewers. Both portions were large enough to share, and the pork belly was especially well cooked. I also asked for a simple side salad with ginger dressing. Initially, our waitress said they didn't sell it that way, but I asked if she could check anyway and told her I was happy to pay whatever the cost was. She did ask, and they brought out a small side salad with ginger dressing for an additional $4. It was decent, and I appreciated that they accommodated the request. They appeared to offer a few lunch specials. The entrées are medium-sized, so whether they are shareable will probably depend on your appetite. We shared the short rib pad see ew, which was very good and had a generous amount of short rib throughout. For dessert, we had a bread dessert...I unfortunately don't remember the exact name...covered in an ube sauce and served with blueberries, strawberries, and ice cream. The dessert itself was good, but the ice cream was extremely frozen and needed some time to soften before we could really enjoy it with the bread. The biggest downside was the atmosphere toward the end of the meal. The lighting kept flickering, then the lights were turned completely off, then completely on, and eventually returned to the original setting where they started flickering again. By the time we left, I actually had a headache from the lighting. Our waitress was also checking on us very frequently, which I know was well-intentioned, but after a while it became a little disruptive. The music was another odd choice. It was mostly hip-hop and R&B, which felt more like a lively brunch or day-party atmosphere and didn't really match the beautiful, more refined décor. A different playlist would make the overall experience feel much more cohesive. Overall, the food and drinks were enjoyable, the restaurant is beautifully designed, and parking is convenient. Reading all the reviews made me excited to finally try it. I think I went wrong by getting it togo. We did the pork belly skewers, chicken lettuce wraps, khao mun gai, and dry street noodles w pork. Woman was interested in the lemongrass ranch so I got a side. The place is beautiful inside as so many noted. We went later in the evening, only two tables sat. Woman wanted to order a nonalcoholic drink but was told the bar was shut down. She asked for hot sauce and got all kinds to try, appreciated the variety. When we got home I saw everything was labeled, which I love. I tried a piece of pork belly. One skewer was just overcooked. I didn't realize it until I ate a piece that wasn't. It was night and day. This is something probably better fresh to your table. The sauce with them was too spicy for me so I made a batch of peanut. Theirs was pretty good, just not enough for two. The lettuce wraps were like tacos in a wonton shell, I prefer the old school way with iceberg. Woman loved it, since they were odd numbered I told her to have the second one. The khao mun gai was ok. It kinda grew on me, and got better once I added my peanut sauce and some Erewhon dumpling sauce I had. I also think this would be better in the actual restaurant. The dish I enjoyed and didn't need a lot of help was the street noodz. Loads of pork and it was tasty. The lemongrass ranch was tiny for what it was. Again there's so many places here, it's hard to do a repeat if it doesn't come out of the gate strong. The prices were high for what it was, maybe I could justify them if I ate there. We had a great time! I wish I could remember our server's name, we came in a few weeks ago and everything was great. First, it's very beautiful inside! We had a reservation for Friday night and it wasn't too busy. We were led to these very nice booths that face out to the restaurant. We each ordered a cocktail (had just missed happy hour) and dang they were good! For food we started with the beef jerkey, which dang! It was so moist and tasted so flavorful. I would absolutely order this again. For my main I got the yellow curry with chicken and it was tasty! I was torn on getting noodles, which I'll definitely try next time. I really wish I took photos of the interior because the space is absolutely beautiful. It is very modern and thoughtfully put together. There is a bar area that looks inviting and like a great place to grab a unique cocktail after work. The star of the show for me was the beef pad see ew. Great flavor and texture (I hate when noodles are too soft) plus it came in the cutest container! We ordered a curry and asked for it to be a level 4 out of 5 and it had the same level of spice as the level 2 pad krapow so our server brought us the chili rack but it didn't make it better. The crispy pork buns were good but the buns themselves don't need to be fried. What did not work for me was the Pandan brownie sundae. It sounded really creative and I had high hopes as the main dishes were delicious but it was a complete flop. The flavors didn't work well together and the brownie didn't taste like pandan at all and was very overcooked. We are in Vegas for the weekend and looking for a new Thai spot, Blue Orchid Thai Kitchen is south of the city and has good reviews. They are 15-20 minutes south of the strip. The interior is beautifully decorated and extremely clean. The plant life and decor is very soothing. Although the owner's family is in the Thai food business and it is their son's his first venture on his own. A very impressive start for his first place. Once seated we ordered the Thai crying tiger on a stick with cucumber salad, Thai spices and a delicious dipping sauce. The meat was tender, juicy and packed with good grilled flavor. Our next choice was the tempora enoki fried mushrooms with a dipping sauce. These were unusual, almost like fries and again, a nice change from our normal selections. The pad Thai with paprika rice noodles, chicken, bean sprouts, cilantro, peanuts, egg and lime was good but more sour than we like. It did not incorporate the sweet / tangy/ salty combination we look forward to. Our final dish was the pangang curry with chicken, green beans, Thai basil, coconut milk and jasmine rice. The sauce was a bit runny and not as rich and uncious as I wanted. The green beans were a nice touch along with lychee fruit. Blue Orchid Thai Kitchen is a lovely decorated and relaxing environment. The staff is quite knowledgeable and helpful. The appetizers were spot on, unique, different and tasty. Our entrees were just ok, lacking a bit of the rich flavor I expect from traditional Thai staples. The evening was still enjoyable and other than the drive, the food was good. A small tweak of the sauces on the entrees, I feel, will only enhance a great set up. Came to Blue Orchid after seeing a video on TikTok. The first thing I noticed was the restaurant was decorated beautifully. Lots of space for parties of all sizes and didn't feel like we were anywhere near bumping elbows with our neighbors. My friend and I came for a girls night and had the sweetest server, Renee, who made great recommendations and was very attentive. For drinks I ordered the Guava Glow and Thai Passion. Both were tasty, but the Thai Passion stole the show. For food, I ordered the beef jerky to start and the Pad Krapow as my entree. The beef jerky was seasoned well and moist. I opted for the chicken Pad Krapow and it was so flavorful. I also appreciated that James, the manager, took the time to check on us as well during our visit. The location is pretty good - right off the highway and gets the best views of the sunrises and sunsets. The service was great eat - everyone was super kind and always checked up on us. I finally made it to try a new Thai spot on Las Vegas Blvd and Cactus Ave. I usually go to the Rainbow area to have that go-to spot. Now, I am so happy that it's 5 minutes to my house and I've never been disappointed with the quality of the food. Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! This is the kind of place you hope to find in Las Vegas. Fantastic upscale Thai restaurant located just off the Strip... and that location works completely in your favor. You're not paying those ridiculous Strip prices....,the quality is right up there with anything on Las Vegas Blvd ON the Strip.. This place completely overdelivers. The service was spectacular, with staff checking in consistently to make sure everything was perfect without being overbearing. The space itself is beautifully designed and very well thought out. This is not a casual or thrown-together spot. Even the plates are unique and make the whole experience feel more elevated. I ordered the Panang curry and it was outstanding. Rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Easily one of the best Panang curries I've ever had. My friend ordered a classic Thai chicken noodle dish and took it all the way to spice level 10, the highest they offer, and had no problem finishing it. That tells you everything about how well they handle spice. It's not just heat, it's flavor. This restaurant belongs in the category of some of the best Thai food I've had in my life. This is next level Thai! If you're a fan of Weera, Blue Orchid is well worth the try. Fine dining experience (food and ambiance) with relatively affordable pricing. Whether you're in for a romantic date or having a family get together, this place is perfect. Waterfall beef is their version of thai beef salad - 5/5. Pork panang has the perfect balance of creamy, spicy with a hint of sweet. Lycee on the pork panang is a pleasant surprise - 5/5. Order the blue garden if you're not a meat eater - 5/5.
