The food was OK. They were busy, but the service time was reasonable. The server took a little more time than she should have returning to take our order and get our check. This might explain a lobger wait time. I would have given it 3 stars, even with them not letting us sit near the fireplace on the fully enclosed indoor patio on a rainy night, siting reservations. The people who sat there brought 2 large wet dogs that took up the floor space of the table beside them and barked a few times. If I wanted to eat at a zoo or dogpark, I would have done that. Came in from out of town and picked this location based on the wonderful reviews. While the staff was friendly, hardworking and attentive, the food was lackluster. My wife and I visited the restaurant on vacation with both of our mothers. 3 out of 4 meals were excellent but my mother in laws meal was just ok due to the apple carrot cabbage slaw with vinegar dressing was drowned with vinegar to the point it was inedible. The rest of her food was good but her palette was ruined with the vinegar. We also tried the slaw and concurred with her. I came in on Friday night with a dining companion. We really enjoyed the dishes we ordered. My companion had the burger with the crab cake and Moscow mule. I had the brisket sandwich with potato salad and an IPA off the draft menu. My sandwich was yummy! The smoked brisket was delicious, I would only change the bbq sauce and put it on the side. My companion really enjoyed his burger and especially raved about how good the crab cake was. I definitely recommend this place to Williamsburg visitors. This place is located in Strawberry Cove, you might miss it because it's slightly set back from the road. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior decor. It has a contemporary, clean, industrial, quasi beach feel. Staff immediately greeted and attended to us as we entered. We had made reservations for lunch on "open table" as we figured it may get super busy on a Friday. Service was fine and they have a carafe of water at each table. They have numerous craft beers available, a plus for me was they had at least two ciders. They offer different sizes. I didn't want to commit to a pint so I ordered a 3.5oz pour for a $1.75. If you have an affinity for sweets such as myself and are looking for a boozy, creamy sweet drink- I highly recommend the salted caramel drink with a candied bacon straw. Definitely one of their drink highlights! Usually, I try to order something that's not offered elsewhere but I haven't had pizza in a long time. I have a gluten sensitivity and well they offer gluten free and vegan pizza!! This is definitely a plus for those with food sensitivities/allergies. I probably should've went for the vegan pizza which of course doesn't have dairy, but uses vegan cheese but I didn't. I figured I'd already went full force with the dairy with salted caramel so I was already past the point of no return. I had the gluten free Greek pizza and added pepperoni. It was pretty good. Service was a disaster. Wait staff are dressed for a casual experience but hostesses are all wearing plunging shirts with exposed chests. I also felt bad for the hostesses as they were bussing tables, seating guests and bringing out food. We needed a few extra minutes to decide on food so we politely told Maya, our server, this and she said no problem and walked away. Problem was she didn't come back for nearly 20 minutes. Once we ordered we didn't see here again until the kitchen manager dropped off our main courses. Then when it was time to leave I had to get up and get the hostess to find our waitress. She spent so much time with guests who appeared to have ordered alcohol (I assume because statistically they tip well) that we saw her three times in a 1 hours and 35 minute dinner at the place. This place was half full so it wasn't like there was a lot of people in there. Food was average or below average. My burger, which Maya specifically asked if I wanted pink, was in fact well-done or even over that. Why ask if you don't care? Kids pizza was so salted my kid downed 3 glasses of water to eat two pieces. Wife's fish tasted frozen and had a strange gritty texture. Would have loved to talk to Maya about it but never saw her. The decor of this place it was weird. Strange dirty patterned wall paper that doesn't match the seat or the strange layout. I get the partition between the bar but the center section is also a section? Then the club music in the family section added to the mix of mayhem clumped together. Bathrooms were a disaster with urine everywhere and you had to help yourself to rolls of toilet paper stuffed under the sink. Everything made sense from food to poor service once we left. A large portion of the kitchen staff was out back smoking weed and laughing as a group. I don't care that they were smoking weed but that fact that it bled into the service provided is kind of lame. I see they respond to customer feedback on occasion but reading the reviews it all kind of lines up so they don't change anything. (I won't be back so management, save the words and don't worry about the reply). Just save the time and money and go to Old City BBQ up the road or Blue Talon in the main city center. read more

The patio was so nice with a fireplace- the drinks were excellent (bloody Mary's and margarita flight) the food was excellent but the best part was the service! Matt was an excellent waitstaff and he was so attentive to our 7 year old grandson! He made him feel so special! I ordered the smoked hot wings and my husband had the Dr. Pepper wings. The hot wings were okay, I wasn't too big on the sauce. After a 5 year absence, I took my wife to dinner at Craft 31 for her first night in Williamsburg. She ordered a cheeseburger with pickles, mayonnaise and lettuce. The burger came out a beautifully medium well, as requested and she would have eaten an entire jar of the dill pickle slices on the burger. She ravenously ate the burger and it was gone before I barely got started on my dinner. She commented that it was so much better than any burger from Red Robin. Speaking of my meal, I ordered the Southwestern White Pizza. It comes with bell peppers, onions and Italian sausage. The thin crust was a crisp and the sauce was delicious. The sausage was a much higher quality that your average pizza topping sausage. Despite getting a medium, I ended up bringing half of it back to the hotel. We both ordered dessert after our delicious meal. My wife got the triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, which she loved. I ordered the apple cobbler, which was the only reason this review is getting a 4 instead of 5 stars. The apples were seasoned with too much nutmeg and not enough cinnamon. There was little or no bottom crust. I ended up only eating a small portion of the cobbler and opted not to bring home the remainder. Regarding the service, we made a reservation and despite arriving early, we were seated promptly. The waitress was very friendly and checked in on our status regularly without being obtrusive. We definitely plan to stop in again before we return home from our vacation, but will avoid desserts. read more

The restaurant has a lovely outdoor seating area as well as dine-in available and it feels like they are taking the appropriate precautions given our current environment. Pros - the craft beer list is great! We found some fantastic local brews and were very excited to try something new. Also, the service was great. Our server was friendly and on the ball. The kids menu was also very fairly priced - a definite plus in my book. Cons - the food was just okay - the wings were TINY and quite pricey, especially given the size. I ordered a 16 ounce beer while it may have come in a 16 ounce mug, it was exactly the same amount of beer as my wife's 11.2 ounce bottle of beer in a 16 ounce glass. I asked for the manager who arrived and tried to rationalize charging for 16 ounces when they were only pouring 11 ounces. Following his rationale they could have sold customers 4 ounces and charged for 16 since it was in a 16 ounce glass the explanation was so desperate and pathetic, I was embarrassed for the guy. I told him I did not care if they deducted the beer from my bill (which they did) What I wanted was for them to discontinue the UNETHICAL practice of misleading advertising. We were visiting Williamsburg for a week from Florida. Found this place through Yelp search. They have a very extensive selection of craft beers most of them local to the area a few from out of state. The beer was icy, cold and well carbonated. Both nights we had the Hawaiian pizza with red sauce with a dinner salad with homemade ranch. The crust was great toppings were very good, the service was very good as well. Next was the tuna poke, generous portion of tuna and really yummy! We then split two sandwiches, the Carolina burger and spicy dill fried chicken sandwich. Both were really good but the Carolina burger, cooked exactly as ordered, was our favorite of the two. We love the online reservations, the family friendly environment (many guests bring children here), the indoor or outdoor seating, and the variety of food options. Also, I love their orange crush drinks for $7.95! Tonight I ordered fish & chips - their lime tarter sauce is delicious! My husband ordered their fried shrimp and fries. They have a pretty good kids menu too! Tons of craft beers and very good wait staff. My husband and I will not go back to Craft 31 again. We have had good meals there in the past, but tonight was not that great. I got the fish and chips and made sure there was tartar sauce or what I thought was tartar sauce. It was really watery and tasted like it had a lot of vinegar and not much else. I wish they had left the Old Bay off of the fish and fries. My husband got the smoked BBQ platter, the wings were just barely Ok and the Carolina BBQ sauce was again watery and tasted like vinegar. The brisket on his plate was chewy. The service was off and we were asked by someone other than our server at one point if we needed anything because we were just left sitting there waiting for somebody to help us. read more
