First time to eat at a Cracker Barrel that food was not perfect. My over medium eggs were runny whites, way over done bacon, burnt black toast (apparently per wait person flames were shooting out). We have traveled to many Cracker Barrels across Texas, Illinois, Tennessee and have NEVER experienced anything like this!!!! read more

I have breakfast here semi-regularly and have been to cracker barrels in many locations when traveling. I am writing this review about the San Marcos location. At this one, I have only gone or breakfast that I can recall. You can't really miss with the typical breakfast fare like bacon, eggs and biscuits etc. During the very few cold months we get here you can't beat a spot near the blazing fireplace at 6 AM. I have found the service to be friendly and good and the food to be pretty consistent. I don't think I've ever had anything that didn't seem pretty fresh either. Last June we had breakfast here and wasn't very impressed. We were not sure what all the HYPE was about when we came to visit Texas. Now we are Texas residence and we decided we would try dinner. It does it's best to serve well. I'm very patient so waiting so no problem for me! Don't complain if you sign yourself up for the wait time. No one gets seated before others, everyone goes in the order they came from. Your parties do not matter, first come first serve. It also has various different size tables, so they give you the next available one. If you're not comfortable with your table, you will have to wait for the other next one available and can take more time. read more

Called to see if they had a call ahead waitlist & a very pleasant girl told me that I could do it online. When I went to the website the online waitlist wasn't working. I called & spoke to Aaron who told me that I would just have to come in & then wait. I asked him if they could put us on their list now since it was their online waitlist that I was trying to use wasn't working. He said no he couldn't do that. I asked to speak to the manager and I was on hold 17 minutes when I decided to hang up and we went somewhere else. Very disappointed and will not go there again. read more

The food here is almost always really great, however their customer service is the reason why I took off two stars. Our waitress forgot to bring out our biscuits until our food was ready. She also didn't refill my drink for about 10 minutes, while it was empty, and on the edge of the table. My friend actually got up and told someone else working that our waitress forgot the biscuits and my refill. The person she talked to refilled the drink, and our waitress brought our food and the biscuits out after that. Overall, the food is good, customer service is sometimes iffy. read more

Personally I find the word "cracker" offensive. It's demeaning to "white" people and is racially motivated. Sides were a slightly under the nice hot temperature that you would expect when they came out. The server, probably a college-aged guy, wore his mask only covering his mouth, not the nose, when he came up to every table I saw. He wasn't prompt with refilling drinks. read more

FOOD POISONING! This review is for the location between San Marcos and New Braunfels. I wish I could give it zero stars! We were a party of 5 for dinner. Had to ask for all new flatware as almost everyone's in our party was dirty. I ordered a hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, pinto beans. The biscuits and cornbread that came with the meal was fine. But my food was barely warm. I asked the waitress if she could microwave my food to get it hot and put some gravy on the meat. When it was brought back it was no hotter than before. Rather than a nice rich colored brown gravy, it looked like dirty water! The meat was disgusting. It seemed stringy. And was undercooked. When I got home I started feeling like I had a bowling ball in my stomach. Tossed and turned the whole night unable to sleep because of bad stomach. I continued to feel bad the next day as well until late in the day. This place is not what it used to be. BEWARE! read more

This is a horrible Cracker Barrel! We used to come here all of the time because we liked the service, never again. We had to wait 30 min to be sat after they told us 15. Once we actually get sat we were put in a corner table. We waited 15 minutes to get our drink and food order. We then got our food and our bacon looked like it had enough even been cooked. We tried to get the managers attention but he was too busy looking at his iPad the entire time. Horrible! Also during or state of co-vid the state of Texas is requiring all to wear masks and half the customers in the shopping area were not. read more

The serving was small! This is the only cracker barrel i have been that they gave you one spoon of hashbrown! I should have taken a picture. Server keeps forgetting us. We ordered dessert and waited so we ask her just to cancel it. but she said she did not put it in the ordered. I dont know what happened on the day we went but it was awful. I would have given them a negitive 10, i purchased a rockingchair for my motbers 80th birthday, charles a merchandise manager was extremely rude to her after she had to retrn several times to pick up the chair. As he was taking the chain off the chair he chipped it and told her she had to take that chair that she would damage it anyways by rocking in it, he then handed her the chair for her to carry herself really an 80 year old lady!!! Needless to say he made her cry. We visit her often she lives less then a mile away, we will never return to that place. Great friendly service.! Waitresses very personable, fast & efficient.! Only 4 stars because after husband had Norma's Cafe chicken fried steak it made Cracker Barrel nothing compared to it. And my husband was confused over the lemon on his ham steak. Seemed like they were trying to dress up the food when flavor could've been worked on. My family has always had a great dining experience at CB until Sunday, 2-4-18. The service was great however the food was definitely not up to the CB standards. The biscuits were cold and hard, the hashbrown casserole appeared and tasted like it was left over from 2 days ago, the scrambled eggs were way undercooked, the sausage was undercooked and my grandson didnt get his eggs. My husband advised the cashier who simply stated he should have told the server. I would have expected her to advise a manager in order to double check the cooks. We would have had to send back every order and wait another 25 minutes to get possibly the same crappy food so thought it a better idea to bring to the attention of the manager but the cashier never even called him over. I immediately sent an email to corporate and have YET to get any kind of response. I guess this is what happens when you have so many customers you don't care if a few aren't satisfied and can't even take the time to respond. read more

Waitress named Natalie was extremely rude. I was hungry when we arrived so I ordered a small side salad with my drink. When she came back to take the whole order she rudely told me I couldn't use that as one of my sides since she already rung it up and that "it doesn't work that way." Good service but very bland food. They apparently don't believe in over-seasoning, though that seems to be the case at most Cracker Barrels. Reasonable prices for the amount of food received, but the sodas that were ordered came out, and one had trash floating in it. The Manager was nice enough to comp the meal and soda, and server Tricia was very accommodating. Would hesitate to eat here again, mainly because of the trash floating in the soda. Makes me wonder if the plates were clean before the food was plated. read more

I ate breakfast with my family at Cracker Barrel before heading to the San Marcos outlets. We arrived early - right around 9 and were seated right away. Our server was friendly and quick to take our orders and bring out our drinks. I was very overwhelmed by the amount of items they had on their breakfast menu! I ended up ordering the Southwestern Sausage Hash which is grilled potatoes, onions and spicy sausage, served with 2 eggs (I had mine medium poached), your choice of toast or biscuits and grits. I loved my eggs! They were poached perfectly - from their perfect shape it looks like they use an egg poacher, but regardless, they were cooked just the way I requested. The Hash was pretty oily but had great flavor. The grits weren't anything special - what I did really like was the apple butter that came with my wheat toast. Yum! Just the right amount of sweet! For a city that doesn't have that many breakfast options I would have to say that this place is alright if you're looking for a filling breakfast to start your day. read more
