Stopped here for lunch today and had a great experience. I got the two express tender meal and got a second side instead of a drink. I got the green beans and fries for my sides and both were seasoned very well. The spicy tenders are the way to go! So much more seasoned. Service here was great as well! read more

I really like this place. We like the chicken strips and it comes with gravy yum. But... our favorite is the fish. They make really good fried fish. They serve it with tartar sauce or cocktail sauce or both . Some great side choices too. read more

Set at the drive-through for 10+ minutes with my truck running for 1 minute then turning it off asking if anybody was there to take my order. i had to drive around to the window for me to wave them down to come to the window for them to say their drive-through doesn't "read big vehicles"... The dudes didn't want to come to the window looking at me like I'm dumb. Typical fast food bs minimum wage minimum work ethic. If something is broken put a sign out. read more

Went in for a 2 piece combo. The order taking went okay, but the cashier had to get my drink because the drink dispenser in the lobby had no ice, and the product was warm. Also it was a little dark inside. Got my order (one box), but the girl just handed it out, no bag. How was I supposed to carry it?? Everyone else who ordered one box was given theirs in a bag. She knew it was "to go." Not coming back!! read more

Fish fillets are easily 5 Stars everyday!! To be honest im not really a fan on the fried chicken or the tenders though, they're normally overfried and/or dripping with oil. No thanks... But the fried fish fillets are the real star at Chicken Express!! You've probably never thought to order it from here, but you'll be soooo thankful the day you decide to give it a Try!! This location is always kept clean and tidy in the dining area, plus the staff always seems to be in a good mood! read more

Yes the place is not the grand-est looking outlet you might come across, but what it does have is 'Heart', the staff is always welcoming & super attentive to the customers, making sure the place is always clean and everything is taken care of, and more importantly the quality of food is maintained, never disappointed with the food and Special shoutout to the young gentleman working as the cashier at night for letting me know about the old batch of chicken that was sitting for a while and for recommending me an alternative, will definitely keep going back. read more

I was just walking by only wanted to look at the menu because I hadn't seen this restaurant before. read the menu started to walk back home, but the owner/manager ran after me and asked if there was anything that I needed or if there was a problem.. he had a big smile shorts on and knee-high rain boots!. I told him I just wanted to see the menu, but he insisted that I come back in the store and gave me a huge sample box of tenders, corn nuggets, french fries fries, and biscuits! I planned on eating it when I got home, but I had another 2 mile walk in front of me so by the time I made it home all of it was gone! It was so good and that was such a positive experience I'm really glad I found you guys! Thanks again. Melinda C read more

The fish fillet combo is legit the best!! I don't really like chicken but they had this so actually after a homebound surgery through door dash. I ordered the fish fillet combo and was in love! It's just a white cod fish with light batter. It is delicious! read more

Another stellar review! Great service and even a recommendation on a spicy seasoning on the fresh to order catfish. Only four stars because I have yet to try but have no doubt it will be just as good as before! read more

Chicken tenders were fine, fried catfish was OK - it needed more breading and was over-salted. Corn and mashed potatoes and gravy were ok - up to fast food standards. Not great, but this is fast food. Biscuits were hockey pucks. Not good. read more

Foods always cold and below standard tbh better literally anywhere else. I mean I thought cause I went once and it was bad maybe it's bad but after multiple trips it's always just cold and has no flavor. read more

I ordered fish fillet dinner in drive thru. OMG !!! it was perfect from start to finish. The people there were 15 star !!! They make the fish fresh and let you know how long the wait will be. I ordered the 3 fillet dinner, the wonderful person who took my order asked me about sides, I got mac & cheese, slaw, perfect and fresh !! I was offered roll or hush puppies, I got hush puppies, freshly cooked like the fish, offfered choice of sauces, I got tartar sauce(2) perfect and fresh !!! The wait was not bad at all. The ladies at the drive thru were awesome !!! So helpful !! Great experience, will do it again, Thank you !!! read more

The food here is pretty good and if it isn't then don't be afraid to say so! On several occasions I have gone and the hotness/freshness wasn't there but I always brought this to their attention and they happily attended to it. People shouldn't have to just deal with warm food, everything should be perfection! You worked hard for that $5 snack pack, it better be HOT! This location is always clean and staff are friendly. read more

Chicken Express - Chicken tender snack pack...and NO that is not two sides of gravy! One is mashed potatoes!!!! - Chicken Shop Near Me - New Braunfels, Texas

Hate to leave a bad review for this place but the manager and crew working tonight (Dec 29) are clueless when it comes to running a business and customer service. Waited on our food for over 20 minutes. It's just chicken. It's also a bad reflection on the regional manager. I suggest you look for a new manager and provide some training. read more

On both trips I was greeted as I entered the door and welcomed with a smile. My order was taken quickly, and handed over the counter fast. The chicken is lightly breaded, and fried just right, not over or under cooked and mouthwatering, juicy and delicious ! The biscuts were cooked just right, flaky, buttery and melt in your mouth good. The only sides we tried were the mashed potatos and corn fritters and both were great. The dining area and restrooms were both sparkling clean. Bottom line I have paid top dollar for fried chicken in fancier sit down and order restaraunts that havn't compared to this fantastic fast food joint !!! If you are looking for some really tasty ceap eats, give it a try. read more

Relatively new to New Braunfels and looking for a good chicken place. Chicken Express' chicken is good, but their service and policies are very poor. We have been here twice - first time the wait was well beyond 20 minutes, even though it was early afternoon and only 3 or 4 cars in line. Tried it again today (Sunday) and ordered an 8 piece mixed family order. They asked what side we wanted and I told them. At the pickup window they charged us $21.69 plus tax, but we noticed on the sign that the 8 piece mixed came with 2 sides for only $19.99. I asked about this and the young lady smiled and said "Sorry, but that is the special and you have to ask for it or we do not give it to you." Wow! They obviously don't care about return customers. read more

Livers and Catfish were wow today, lightly breaded, moist, and perfectly seasoned. The chicken tenders were spot on, however, I did not like the watery white gravy. The biscuits were fresh baked and light and airy. I love fried livers only when they are not hard and overdone, which these today were not. Daryll read more

Chicken Express is such a great alternative to KFC, Churches or Popeyes. They offer a home style menu and chicken breading. Love their fried okra (southern tradition!) will take a little time to wait since they make it fresh. Enough about their chicken, I Love their CORN NUGGETS! What are they you ask? They're nugget size balls of cream of corn surrounded in this sweet batter and fried to perfection! Chicken Express introduced these delish treats to my belly, who is a corn fanatic! Just stop by for their refreshing southern style iced tea in this Texas heat :) Don't forget to take Jalapenos with your order. Nothing beats Jalapeno +Fried Chicken, something about that combination makes me so happy :) read more

I was in line ordering my chicken through the drive through then I see to workers come out of the KITCHEN. With a dust bucket and was curious to see why they were dumping it on the sidewalk in front of me. A little later after they were done with their laugh, they dumped a FROG right in front of my face from the kitchen. read more

This is the second time in a row that I have had a bad experience at this location. Went there again on September 3, 2018 .... I was told a side of mac & cheese would take 15 minutes; fish would take 8 minutes; and the spicy chicken strips would take 6 - 7 minutes. We ordered fish and the regular chicken strips. When the order was handed to us, I asked about tartar sauce for the fish. They informed me then they were out of tartar sauce. It seems to me the management is not on top of things. They should have everything ready to go in a few minutes and they should not be running out of anything. I would try a different location other than this one on Loop 337 in New Braunfels, TX. read more

I went here for the first time. I enjoyed the food very much. My only negative observations are that the corn on the cob was tasteless and the restaurant didn't provide moist towellets for wiping the chicken grease from your hands. However, on the positive side everything else was very hot and tasty. I will definitely eat at this chain again. read more

Best chicken Express I've ever been to!! Great service. Food is always warm and amazing.

Food is cooked well and hot. Still very salty. Wish you would cut down on the salt, both on catfish and chicken...

Can't believe the chicken wings are now boneless. Their wings were the most underrated item on their menu. Sucks.

Great fried chicken and sides. I loved it all, the chicken was tasty and still very hot, I think it was cooked to order, the green beans were delicious, as was the mashed potatoes and white gravy. definitely one of the best express fried chicken that did not taste like a chain. read more

Pulled up to the drive-through on Wednesday July 26, 2017 at 11:55AM. NOTE the time: 11:55AM. I ordered the #4 - 2 piece chicken meal through the squawk box. After I finished placing my order the voice came back trough the squawk box - "Sorry sir, we are out of cooked chicken right now. It will be at least a 15 minute wait." I drove away. What fast food fried chicken restaurant on the face of this earth is OUT of cooked chicken available to serve at 11:55AM on any day??????????? Poor, poor, poor. The manager of this location should be looking for a different career path. read more

I really love coming to chicken express, but this time it wasn't a very lovely experience. First, they told me I had to wait 17 minutes for chicken, we waited, then they gave us our food and we drove away. I got home and realized they forgot to give us our sides. Like that 17 minutes wasn't enough time for them to get our order correct? I call them, and the manager doesn't try to help me. So we drive back and ask for a refund, and our sides, and she tells us she can't help us. She didn't try to make it right. Then we got our order back again and it was still missing things. They don't have good customer service. When things go wrong they shouldn't be rude and unhelpful. Managers are supposed to treat their customers well, and help solve problems. We didn't get a discount, anything free, and we payed for lots of gas trying to get our dinner right. Y'all should hire friendly, helpful people, because I don't want to stop going to this location. read more

Got the hankering for some good fried chicken. This place is as good as it gets. Its is always fresh. They have tenders that are out of this world. You can get 3 tenders for $3.99 with a side. And their tea is my favorite. They do tend to go a little heavy on the ice. So if you like more tea than ice make sure to tell them to go easy. One of my favorite places. read more

This place has great Fried chicken, tenders, surprisingly great catfish, great gizzards, and awesome crunchy hot wings. But the service stands out above competitors not to name names ( Holy chicken) OR ( Sailors Chicken) if you catch my drift. When the line is getting long they don't tell you to pull out of the way or drive around and they will bring it to you. They take the orders that are done to the cars behind you so they can leave . I have seen them send out 4 people at the same time to car hop the orders so every customer is happy and gets out quick. Now that is some D@^n good service. But beyond all that, the food is great and the portions are obviously bigger than the "unnamed" competitors. read more

Can't believe I'm giving 4 stars to fast food. But when it's right, it's right. Look, the chicken is always perfect. The staff is always awesome. And the sweet ice tea is better than Bill Miller's. Been eating here since it opened but things have really gone downhill I called in an order and waited the suggested time the chicken we picked up was soggy. If this was a one time thing I would just let it be but this is the standard of late. I always call in as I like my gizzards and okra extra crispy. I don't mind waiting if it is done right but waiting for soggy stuff makes me very unhappy. read more

The store was quite clean and the employees were friendly. Conversely, the amount of time they took for my order was uncommon for most stores of this type. In retrospect, I believe this was a rare occurrence for this store as well. I spoke to Gloria, the general manager, about the experience and was impressed by her professionalism, desire to provide the best customer service possible, and friendly manner. I rate this store 5 stars based on the final outcome. read more
