Charbroiled (6 pieces)

Terrible food, terrible service. Even the waitress gave us a heads up that the food wasn't up to par. We should have took that as a sign and left but we were determined to eat crawfish. They ONLY season the outside, and the spicy was pure spice no flavor. It was actually a shame. Highly DONT recommend.

Arrived 3 minutes before happy hour was over. Got the happy hour drink deals. Mexican lollipop shots were delicious. House margaritas were huge (not enough liquor though) just tasted like margarita mix. WE DEVOURED the food, the food did NOT stand a chance. The medium sauce was not spicy enough for me. Would have liked more of a spice but it was still really tasty. Quick service, really friendly staff, great music. Definitely recommend.

Horrible service!!!! All the waitresses sat at one table and talked the whole time. One stares directly at you as you are waiving to get someone attention. Does she get up? Nope, she tells your waitress to the right of her, hey they are calling you. Yet you would think someone would get up by now? Nope! My husband got up and asked them for boxes and a bag. She also told us she was going to give my son a complimentary pudding cake for his birthday and failed to do so. Why? Because they were so busy chit chatting the whole time. Never would I come back to this place or recommend it. We barely ate our food. Total was $130 for medicore food and horrible service. Beware of parking. We paid and got booted. The guy came back to take off the boot and apologized that the system failed to update?!?!?

WORST SERVICE EVER! I advise everyone not to come here. We came on a Sunday two people. There was only two other parties in there and the waiters didn't even bother to come over for drinks or anything. Not a hi or anything when walking in. Waited ten minutes with the waiters sitting in the back talking and on their phones. Then two guys came in after and were given waters and stuff before us. Waste of time so we ended up leaving. How is there bad service when the place is empty?

I had high hopes for this spot because crab boils are my thing. It fell flat and quickly.. it started with the waitress, she was unfriendly and just didn't exude any form of customer service. I asked for something extra and instead of responding, she just walked off and later returned with what I asked for. When she walked away I wasn't even sure if she heard me lol. The bathroom was legit disgusting.. there's no way it's been cleaned this week. I should have walked out after seeing how dirty it was. I ordered headless shrimp with garlic noodles, corn, and sausage. I opened the bag and began to chow down only to discover that the shrimp weren't cleaned. You could literally see the veins and they hadn't been split from the back, making it extremely hard to eat. They were also overcooked and chewy. I was starving so I ate the noodles and sausage and left the shrimp . The two stars are for that only . I'd say beware if you're a shrimp lover because it's a negative for me.

So I'm new to the area and I was craving some crab legs. Look on Yelp and saw this place. I was already heading to deep ellum so I decided to go here. The place has a nice vibe and the servers and bartenders are great!!! I had a blast talking to them.... The food on the other hand was underwhelming and average. Like everything was over cooked. The crabs were dried out , and the shrimp was mushy... and the sauce was wayyyy to creamy. Like I know I'm not gone have Blove sauce everywhere I go but I at least want more of a butter mixture and not that. I would only come back for the drinks and conversation with some pretty dope people. But that's just me. The oysters was good but you better watch out cause you can def chip a tooth on the bits of rock in them.

Our server was wonderful! Attentive and helpful! The food was delicious! Flavor was out of bounds delish! It was my daughter's 18th Birthday and she gives Crab Station a 10/10! We will definitely be back very soon! The vibe was chill, family friendly, good music

$5 Happy Hour Margarita

Thanks to Tik Tok, I found this restaurant and I was beyond excited to find out there was a drink and oyster happy hour between 4 to 6pm. After we were seated, it took a little while for a server to come to us. However, one of the bartenders was a server, too, so we understood that she was a little busy. I quickly ordered a dozen raw oysters ($1 a piece) and a $5 margarita. The oysters were beyond delicious, salty, and just the right size. The margarita was perfect and had just the right amount of tequila. Overall, I would definitely return again whenever I'm in Texas, and if in the area, be sure to stop by.

The food just didn't meet expectations, sauce was thick with limited amount. Very urban vibe, servers were very nice but the food was just not anything special compared to all the other restaurants I have been to here.

Blackened catfish plate

My wife and myself are staying in deep ellum for a month so while we are here we have been trying different restaurants out and decided on this restaurant. The staff was very friendly and sat us quickly. Being from Louisiana we settled on blackened catfish over rice for my wife and fried catfish and fried shrimp for me. Hers came out with 2 big filets, big enough for 2 people to eat. Mine came with one large fried filet. I blacken catfish all the time at home and they did a pretty good job. Seasoning and flavor was great on both, and the meat seemed to be real channel catfish not the cheaper swai catfish most restaurants used. I asked my waitress if it was local Texas meat or imported, she said that it was imported. The dining area was pretty basic but well kept and clean. Over all we were very glad we gave it a try, I can't speak on the crab or other boiled seafood but it looked like the kind the boil in a bag and bring it out covered in a butter sauce. I'm not a big fan of that method, it looks cheap and is too messy. But if your looked for great catfish they have it down!

Worst service EVER!!! And violated food safety by taking the food from the table, having a conversation OVER the food and trying to bring it back to my table. I ordered shrimp and oysters. They brought shrimp and catfish. Rather than correct THEIR mistake they told me I had to pay for the WRONG order! I told them that I was not paying for food I didn't eat. Then the waitress comes back and says the manager removed the food from the bill. Well thank you.

Food is good. Waiter needs to focus more on customers. He actually was sitting down eating ( I'm sure he was on break while assisting us)

Ask the Community - Crab Station - Deep Ellum

Are the crab boils gluten free?

It depends on what Cajun spice they use. I would call them. Some crab boil mixes have gluten ingredients.

Do they have happy hour? If so, what are the specials?

Yes there are happy hour specials. Monday to Friday from open to 6pm 75 cent raw oysters by the dozen… Read more

Started with 3 pounds but it was so good I had to get two more pounds. The crawfish is seasoned the right way where the flavor is on the inside so they don't have to cover it in a dry spice. Also they were all big with just a few smaller ones. To top it off, having strawberry abita on tap is the perfect match for crawfish so I was extra happy. Saw the bread pudding on the menu and had to get it for dessert. It was warm, chocolate, and ate every bite. I would get more of everything I had The service was so friendly too and the LSU and Louisiana decorations made me feel like I was back there.

Delicious Southern Sweet Tea at that not what passes for sweet tea in Texas. I was not told to add grainy sugar into unsweetened tea like I was here. my tour guide was a local woman who's lived in the heart of New Orleans for 63 years, and was shocked and appalled when I read to her what the management of Charlie's Creole Kitchen replied to my critique regarding the Sweet Tea, (lack there of, as well as his belief that it isn't commonplace, or borderline essential) she was shocked in disbelief about as well as the astronomical prices we have to pay as their serving sizes in New Orleans are substantially bigger, for either equal or in some cases even cheaper prices. A Bowl of Gumbo in Texas, is a Cup in New Orleans this trends everywhere I visited. I understand importing certain coastal based ingredients can drive up the cost of the food, got it! that doesn't bother me as much as being gaslighted about things where this establishment does fall short. as a native Floridian, Foodie, and Avid Traveler. I don't really care how long someone's been running a kitchen (one way) constructive criticism should be embraced to increase the quality of an establishment, not gotten defensive over. Removing one star for having to go all the way to New Orleans to not feel like a crazy person about the Sweet Tea and Prices. This place is already really good! but could still be better! (OP) As someone from the Deep South, I have high standards for Southern Dives. First, a warning for my fellow Deep-Southerners: they must get away with this with their native Texan Patrons, but the lack of Sweet-Tea is Blasphemy. Unsweetened only. That's an automatic loss of a star. (that seems unfair over a beverage? no.) because for a lot of us from Louisiana, Bama, Florida, Georgia. The Standouts: * Baked Stuffed Flounder (10/10): Hands down the best dish I sampled. The roasted red pepper sauce is incredible, and the cheese grits make it a real southern comfort platter. * Chicken, Shrimp & Bacon Corn Chowder (10/10): Truly New England-level quality. An absolute explosion of flavor. * Crab Cakes (10/10): Rich, delicious, and worth every bite. The Middle Ground: The Boudin Balls and Seafood Gumbo were solid (7/10), though the gumbo doesn't quite reach the level of a spot like Pappadeaux, it's decent. $11 for 3 decent Boudin Balls is highway robbery at its best. The Fried Seafood Platter was good, 7.5/10 but at $35, the platter is on the smaller side, especially only given one piece of catfish. The Oysters & Shrimp were good, the Crawfish decent, Catfish was decent, it had a small hint of fishiness, but it was good overall nonetheless. The side salads (3/10) the after thought of the menu, chopped head of lettuce smothered in ranch (or Italian) with one banana pepper, and one slice of tomato that looks like it was suppose to be on a burger, no toppings at all. Truck stops have better prepared salads. Which wouldn't typically be a problem if this was a budget-friendly eatery, but for its Texas-Sized prices, And New-York sized portions. The oversight of the Sweet-Tea and a decent side salad is for sure a miss. It might fully please Texans, but it left somethings to be desired from a non-Texan southerner. That being said! It is absolutely well worth the visit! The food was all above average for the region, the service was friendly, attentive and fast, the food came out quickly and efficiently. The location isn't great, but not bad. a little tight and congested, the interior is very mom & pop feeling which is nice. I truly did enjoy my experience, misses and all. And look forward to returning to sample more of the menu!

After a long day in transit, all we wanted was something deeply satisfying, the kind of meal that feels like a reward. When my mother suggested Aunt Irene's Kitchen, there was no hesitation. She spoke of it with the reverence reserved for places that become part of your personal geography former neighborhood staples, the kind you measure other meals against. Years ago, when she lived nearby, this was her spot. And now, standing beside her in a line that stretched out the door, it was clear we weren't the only ones holding onto that sentiment. The queue moved with surprising ease, a quiet efficiency that felt almost practiced. Inside, the energy was unpretentious and steady. Our cashier, while not particularly warm, was brisk and knowledgeable answering questions with the kind of clarity that suggests confidence in the product more than performance. We ordered simply: wings with fries, and two plates of fried fish with fries. The wings hadn't been part of the original plan, but a fellow patron mid-meal and visibly excited leaned over to insist. It felt like advice worth taking. And it was. The food arrived in its own time this is not a place for the impatient but what it lacked in speed, it more than made up for in flavor. The fish was crisp and tender, the wings richly seasoned, each bite layered with the kind of depth that doesn't rush itself. Then there was the jalapeño tucked alongside the plate like a quiet signature. It cut through the richness with a bright, deliberate heat, a small but memorable detail that elevated the entire experience. The dining room itself is modest and well-kept, with many opting to take their meals to-go or retreat to their cars. There's an ease to it all ample parking, friendly faces coming and going, a sense of community that lingers longer than the wait.
