came for their ayce and it was pretty good the size of the seafood was what to be expected considering it's ayce. it's 39.99$ per person. You get 3 sides 3 seafood and add ons for every round. Their potatoes were cut into 4 so they were in the bigger side. I loved the quail eggs rather than regular eggs and their sausage was pretty good as well. Their fries are nice and crispy and well seasoned. however their rice was really mushy so definitely pass on that. The size of the crawfish was okay as well as the crab. However the shrimp was what stood out to me cooked perfectly and great size. Honestly not too bad for the price cant complain. I would come back but If i'm craving crawfish and not a variety of different seafood i would stick to my og spot. The all you can eat is a hype so you will go there. Everyone at the table has to pay for the all you can eat option. You have 90 minutes to finish and you pay extra each round for crab and lobster. The waitress had an attitude and was trying to be nice and polite after I paid, basically hoping for a tip (that she didn't get). Was yelling at us like the music was so loud when it wasn't because the other tables she served she had her inside voice. First time there for me and my husband and we won't be going there again. I've been to crab and spice a few times since it's opening. It hasn't disappointed. I've tried a variety of items but the all you can eat for $40pp is the best so far. My husband and I have gone there 2x now just for this. The signature crab and spice seasoning medium/hot is perfect for Your taste buds. Our server "G" was exceptional. He went above and beyond in our experience. He even made me a special "G" concoction to go with my meal. I want to sit in his section everytime I go. The atmosphere is trendy versus date night. Let me start by saying the food was really good and the service was great but I got to keep it real. The all you can eat option is not what you think They advertise all. You can eat seafood boil for $39.99 a person. But there are a lot of rules to the all you can eat. First thing is that you can only order snow crab once free of charge. If you would like more snow crab it's $12 per cluster. Also, if you're dining with multiple people, everybody has to choose the all you can eat option. IF you go with one or more people you guys have to all agree on the same sauce. Everyone's food is in the same bag. My friend only wanted garlic butter so my first time there. I don't think the food was as flavorful as it could have been. I got a side of crab and spice sauce on the side but they didn't tell me it was a $5 extra charge. That was disappointing but I survived. Although the all you can eat sounds inviting. I think you end up spending a lot more than if you would have just paid for the items off the regular menu. We spent $60 a piece. My friend and I just split the bill. It was quite a bit of food But we mostly got full off of the starters. You can get fries, onion rings, fried green beans. Up to three choices as a starter. Then everyone starts by picking 2 seafood options. Also if you choose the all you can eat option... You can take any leftover food home for an additional $20 fee. I called them to confirm the hours for Easter Sunday at 5:30pm. They said they closed at 10pm with last call at 9:15, me and my friend walk in at 6:30pm and see less than half the restaurant full. The server says hold on, walks to the kitchen, comes back to us and tells us they arent seating anyone anymore and that they are only open for to go orders. I'm a big fan of seafood boils, so I was excited to try Crab N' Spice in Carson, CA after seeing all the glowing Instagram posts. Unfortunately, my visit fell far short of expectations. I ordered the seafood boil hoping for bold, Cajun flavors, but what arrived on my table was surprisingly bland. The shrimp were rubbery and overcooked - not juicy at all - and despite being smothered in garlic, the dish somehow still lacked any real flavor or spice. It didn't have the kick or seasoning I'd anticipated, which was really disappointing given how much I had been looking forward to it. The rest of the meal had mixed results. On the positive side, the Cajun fries were actually quite good - crispy on the outside and well-seasoned. They tasted fresh and had that nice cajun kick I enjoy in a good fry. Sadly, the only other item I tried didn't fare so well. The lemon pepper wings were a letdown. They didn't have a bright lemon-pepper tang; instead, they tasted pretty greasy and pretty bland. I could only force down two wings before I gave up and left the rest untouched. Overall the wings were nasty - not at all what I expected from a place with such rave reviews, and I ended up wasting most of them. I wanted to love Crab N' Spice because of all the hype, but honestly I left feeling unsatisfied and a bit ripped off. The experience was further soured when I tried to give my honest feedback. I posted a short review on their Instagram page and found out I was blocked - clearly they are filtering out negative comments and only showing the positive ones. That's pretty frustrating and tells me they're not interested in real customer feedback. I think it's important for other people to know this: if you only see five-star comments on their feed, it might be because anything less is getting removed. In summary, I cannot recommend Crab N' Spice in Carson based on my experience. The one thing that was decent (the fries) was overshadowed by a pretty bland seafood boil and unappetizing wings. If you're considering going here, go in with tempered expectations. I heard about this place all over my social media and I love seafood boil a lot! However, before moving down to SoCal, I had never experienced AYCE seafood boil! Of course I had to try it! Location/Atmosphere: 5/5 Crab N' Spice is located in a small strip area right off the 405! It's located on a fairly busy street with some big stores nearby (IKEA being one of the closest) so the flow of people is not too bad. The parking is pretty spacious and it wasn't hard to find any. The inside of the restaurant is hip, with hip hop and pop music blasting in the background, TV's playing sports, and the walls adorned with murals to eat seafood. Service/Price: 5/5 The service here gets a 5/5, I'm gonna be real. My server was a sweet woman named Courtney who was always on top of making sure that we were good with our meal. I really appreciate her recommending me get the spicy instead of the medium spice for my party's third bag because it was just to my liking. The price to do the AYCE is expensive for most. $40 per person, and I was with a friend so the total came out to just over $100 with tip and tax. If I was at another AYCE joint, I may have brought the rating down to a 4/5 but this is AYCE seafood. It's expensive right now and if you can eat your weight in seafood, I feel like that's such a good deal. Food: 3.5/5 The food here was AWESOME! I do have to say, if you are going to get anything, just stick to the seafood. The AYCE has a fried food appetizer to start you off on (which I don't personally eat but others like it!) so my party got Cajun fries. I thought the seasoning was really good and not skimped on. On the first round, they give you crab legs without extra charge, and that was close enough to get me to give a perfect rating because no other place I know does that for seafood boil. It is what I CRAVE for when I get a seafood boil, because crab is usually $15 extra for the legs. Getting them just for purchasing the seafood boil is worth. The All-In sauce that they add is so good too. The seafood is cooked really well after the first bag, too. The crawfish is the best cooked crawfish I've had at a seafood restaurant in CA, the mussels aren't too rubbery, and the shrimp are nice and plump with the heads on. The only reason I deducted a point from the food is the sides are absolutely not worth it. I've gone here twice and I have to say that the corn is NOT good. Very mushy and the flavor doesn't seem to penetrate well into the corn. The sausage is not the best quality and has a weird texture inside the casing that didn't bode well with me. They serve quail eggs as the egg, which is... interesting. Not the best but also not the worst. Their potatoes are alright, just standard potatoes that you can use as a vessel for the sauce. The rice is the one thing that I can vouch as good. Very fluffy and mixed well with the sauce and seafood. The extra .5 a point comes from the fact that our shrimp was really overcooked for the first batch. I was not a fan of it at first but the second and third bag had perfectly cooked seafood so I got over it. Overall: 4/5 If you want to eat your heart out with seafood, come here! Real seafood lovers, beware; this is not the place for you. This place is for folks looking for quantity over quality with the AYCE deal. My experience was overall poor from start to finish. Check-in: My fiance and I checked in at 5:55 on a Saturday. I was told the wait was 40 minutes. We agreed and asked if we can order a beer while we wait. You can't. FYI: You can only order a drink once you have been seated. I was lucky enough to snag one of the three chairs inside, right by the hostess, to wait for my name to be called. I watched multiple people enter and ask how long the wait was. Even after a hostess shift change, I continued to hear her quote 45 minutes to new parties walking in. There was EASILY 15 parties on the list and the wait was still 45 minutes lol. I sat there waiting, my quoted 40 minutes passing by, still not being seated. I was seated at 6:55. I recommend if you come, ask how many parties are ahead of you and calculate yourself approximately how long the wait is .. aint no way its just minutes for everyone lol. Table: The set up here is unconventional. They move the tables in the middle to accommodate as many customers as they can, however realistically, it's not accommodating at all. The tables are so close together and it's so tight that ours ended up literally being surrounded by other tables and chairs. We were gridlocked in, and in a place where you have to fill your own sodas, this was not efficient. Even our server had to suck in and hold his breath to be able to get to our table. If there was a fire, we'd be dead lol. Drinks: Sodas are fill your own. Not really ideal based on how their tables are set up. I'm also not sure if they've controlled their machine to add the least amount of CO2 as possible but the carbonated drinks were borderline flat. The sprite needed the syrup to be replaced so my fiance got orange soda. If you like the bubbles in soda, then just get the lemonade. Appetizer: We started with a dozen oysters to start. After about 20 mins, we received 6. The server said he'll bring the other 6 over when they were ready but we went ahead and cancelled the other 6 considering how these oysters came out. They were over ice (thankfully) but did not have any accoutrements at all. We had to ask for cocktail sauce, horseradish, hot sauce, and a utensil to help us eat them. BTW they do not have horseradish. The abductor muscle under the oyster was not cut so we had to wrestle with them a bit to get them into our mouths. These are a pass. Food: The crawfish is frozen, which honestly is normal these days so we opted for 1lb of head on shrimp ($20/lb) and 1lb of green mussels ($16/lb), corn, sausage, quail egg, and rice. I was later told that they did not have green mussels. Our server then went on to tell us everything else that was sold out .. including dungeness crab and other things. Nowhere on their Market Price sign did it say anything was sold out. We already waited an hour just to know find out that the things we eat aren't available. We stayed and split 1lb of shrimp. We ended up being comped the other half of our dozen oysters and a clam chowder, which was rich, and tasted cheesy. Check: Our check came out wrong. The menu stated that half a dozen oysters were $12, to which we were charged $20. Oh, and the quail egg says $2 on the menu, to which we were charged $2.50. We ate the price difference of the quail egg but asked for an adjustment for the oysters. Service: Our server was all in all great for what he could do. 5/5 considering how this place is run. We were obviously unhappy and our server advised us he spoke to management but a manager never actually addressed us. As someone who has managed FOH, so many little things were driving me up the wall. The fact that they allow their host and servers to where crocs (which are not nonslip and imagine if boiling water was to ever spill on them) .. YIKES! Also, a lady who looked like her job was to put the butcher paper on tables was literally eating her fries with sauce behind her glass but right in front of customers .. literally hand to mouth then touching things that go on the tables. I understand breaks and meals but man .. do that out of the customer's view PLEASE. Half of their servers and their host have noooo pep in their step. Honestly, I likely could have been seated in the 40 minutes quoted if their staff just moved more efficiently. The food is decent but operation is poor. There's too many other seafood places to go to if you want viet-cajun (Boiling Crab style) seafood. If you're not doing AYCE, you're better off going to Rockin Cajun Seafood (3 min away), The Crab Shack (5 min away), or Stinkin Crawfish (12 min away) read more
