Not sure why this place is called Boston Lobster, but this outstanding restaurant in the San…read moreGabriel Valley focuses on Cantonese and Vietnamese flavors. Their signature dish - their "house special lobster"- is the most flavorful preparation of lobster that one can have. The lobster is fried and the juicy bites of meat is layered with garlic, green onions, and sweetness. If you're lucky, you might get some roe, which gives extra salinity. An order of lobster presently costs $34/lb and a "small lobster" will weigh 3-4 lbs; therefore, I only order this signature dish for special occasions. Even if you don't want lobster, don't fret as the rest of the menu is equally delicious. Their "yang chow fried rice", crab and fish maw soup, beef loc lac, and clams with basil sauce are all personal favorites. I love their lunch specials as their entrees come with rice, but at a slightly lower price. The food is top notch, and it brings amazing Vietnamese and Cantonese flavors to this location in the San Gabriel Valley. For a special occasion with my wife or with a group, this is always a winning pick.

Thankfully, they were incredibly gracious and accommodating when we showed up. The food is served family style, so we got to sample a little bit of everything. The filet mignon medallions were delectable--tender, flavorful, and perfectly marinated. And the Lobster Noodles! This was my first time trying them and they absolutely delivered. The lobster was cut and fried in a way that made the meat tucked inside the shell really easy to get to, which made the whole experience so enjoyable. And that gravy... I was literally sucking on the lobster shell trying to get every last bit. So, so good. We also had a stir-fried green vegetable--possibly watercress--and it was delicious. Simple, savory, and cooked just right. I loved having something fresh and green alongside all the richer dishes. Great food, warm service, and such a fun meal to share with a group. I'll definitely be back.

I was already in the area and when it was time for dinner I was walking around to see what looked good. I was so excited to see Stinkin Crawfish. It was weird though because I went to the restroom to wash my hands, and when I came back, they gave another group the table they gave me. I picked a different table, but I thought that was odd. After a quick glance at their menu I saw that they had Happy Hour is Monday to Friday from 4 to 6:30pm. It was a bit pass 6pm so I put in a Dozen Oysters (HH $15 | regular $33) while I looked at the rest of the menu. Ugh regret. These were SO BAD!! First off, the majority was not shucked, it was still attacked to the shell. I turned to the table next to me since I saw they had ordered oysters and I asked if theirs were shucked, and they said some were and some weren't. Oh goodness, so inconsistent. Then they also warned me that they got charged regular pricing instead of happy hour pricing. Also they didn't give me any utensils... so I had to go grab a plastic fork myself cause no staff was in sight and I had to scrap these oysters off their shells. First one not good. Second one, I drowned it in marinara sauce, still not good. Third one... SO BAD I SPLIT IT OUT... Fourth one, ALSO BAD. Okay I don't want to get sit... I'm over this... I just set it aside and covered it with one napkin to indicate I'm over it. Honestly they can see there were many untouched if they wanted to ask me how I liked them. Maybe I should have left but I made the mistake of ordering more food. I ordered a Raspberry Iced Tea ($3.75). Can't really mess that up but I want to point out that no refills were offered my whole time there. I did their Build Your Own with 1lb Shrimp ($17.75), 1lb Crawfish ($11 when added on to an order), with the Make it Awesome ($5.75) which is 1 corn, 2 potatoes, 3 sausages all in their Garlic Butter Mild. Okay... garlic... butter... can't go wrong right?? Well I'm wrong wrong wrong. I don't know HOW they managed to serve me the blandest cajun meal of my life. I am beyond baffled. I see the garlic. The color looks like butter. Definitely not mild, more like zero spice and zero seasonings. Even the limes they gave were dried out and bitter. My theory on the bland garlic was that it was prepped and frozen for so long it lost its' flavor. The seafood itself didn't taste fresh either. Bleh. It really needed a better sauce to mask the musky taste. Oh and the sausage was BURNT. Sigh. I think service tried to be nice. They did come and ask if I needed anything else. But honestly I didn't even want the food in front of me, let alone anything else. At the end they provided complimentary dessert to every guest. It was like a deep fried oreo with a scoop of ice cream on the day I went. The dessert was good. Just nothing else. Oh wait for it... when I got the check, I was also overcharged for the oysters, ringing up at $33 instead of the $1.50/oyster HH price being $15. The waitress was surprised and she even expressed how that happened to another customer (I know) previously and she had asked "him", who I assume is a manager or boss, to fix it in the system. Sigh... Apparently he didn't. The portions were fair, the pricing is fair... WHEN THEY RING YOU UP CORRECTLY. it just tastes bad. Low production quality. Maybe they are able to keep these prices by buying low quality product. Regardless I DEFINITELY won't be coming back. This meal, or rather the stuff that was edible, is not worth the calories. I rarely give 1 star reviews but I almost considered it... but no one was mean and I didn't get sick (because I spit up the bad oysters and stopped eating them). This is such a generous 2 stars review for the mess I had to deal with.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Crab Grabber in Pasadena, and it was a great experience from beginning to end. When my daughter and I sat down, they brought us popcorn as this fun little gesture, almost like a signal saying, it's about to be a movie. It set a playful, welcoming vibe right away. From there, the owner welcomed us like family and made us feel right at home. That kind of genuine hospitality goes a long way, and it set the tone for the entire meal. We started with the crab boil, bold seasoning, cooked just right, And then the stewed fish. Honestly, I can't stop thinking about both of them. I go back and forth in my head, late at night thinking about how soon I can go back and which one I'll get again. It's a true toss-up. Both were that memorable. We also had the duck, which was rich, tender, and full of flavor, along with the beef and green onions that were savory and satisfying. The chicken was so crispy and fresh, It felt like someone's grandma was back there in the kitchen cooking it. Every dish came out beautifully presented and well prepared. Portions were generous, so you definitely get your money's worth. What really stood out beyond the food, was the atmosphere. It doesn't feel like just a place to eat, it feels like a place to relax, connect, and enjoy the moment. If you're looking for a Chinese fusion spot in Pasadena that delivers on food, service, and overall vibe, Crab Grabber is absolutely worth checking out. Food, five out of five. Service, five out of five. Ambiance, five out of five. Overall, 10 out of 10. Definitely recommend read more

Been seeing this place called Crab Grabber all over my feed--it's in East Pasadena right off Rosemead Blvd. So glad there's finally a solid spot for Cajun-style seafood without the crazy Boiling Crab wait times! Parking is easy and free in the back lot. What really stands out here is their sauce selection. Beyond the usual Cajun, garlic butter, and lemon pepper, they also have combo sauces and even a Chongqing spicy mala option. We went with the two-person combo and added snow crab legs, choosing the "mix of all above" sauce--it's definitely the closest I've had to that classic Boiling Crab flavor. The snow crab legs were juicy, meaty, and soaked up the sauce perfectly. But the real surprise was the unlimited sides bar! They have a whole spread of Chinese braised snacks like duck heads, duck necks, duck feet, and pork ears, plus really legit stir-fried dishes. The owner has been making Sichuan-style braised dishes for decades, and you can tell--everything tastes authentic and flavorful. They also offer complimentary red bean soup, mung bean soup, ice jelly, and taro sweet soup to help cool down from the spice. Such a nice touch! If you're craving seafood but also want great Chinese sides in a chill, no-wait environment, this is your spot. Definitely coming back soon! read more

Crab Grabber in Pasadena is such a fun spot if you're craving a Chinese-style seafood boil! The interior is spacious, casual, and perfect for coming with family or a group of friends. I really liked the Chinese-inspired touches throughout the restaurant it feels different from the typical Cajun seafood boil spots. The seafood came out hot, fresh, and covered in a super flavorful sauce. Everything was well-seasoned, saucy, and really satisfying, especially when you mix all the seafood together and let it soak up the flavor. The portions are generous and definitely made for sharing. What makes this place stand out is that they don't only serve seafood boil. They also have Chinese comfort dishes like tea-smoked duck, chow mein, and other specialties, so you can mix seafood with traditional Chinese flavors in one meal. The unlimited buffet line with side dishes and desserts was also a nice bonus. Overall, Crab Grabber is a great Pasadena spot for anyone who loves seafood boil but wants something a little different with a Chinese twist. Tasty food, big portions, lots of variety, and a fun meal to enjoy with a group! read more

This is a new spot, open just 2 weeks. I've seen them working on the place for months. Obviously a family endeavor, I really want them to succeed, so I'm writing an honest review. First of all, the service was endearingly attentive. Everyone there really, really wants you to be happy. We went in for a to-go order, but after being seated with water and welcomed to the appetizer bar, I called my wife and daughter in to sit down and eat. The ambiance is almost upscale, but definitely not cozy. Open and well-lit, it's more family-oriented than a date-night destination. We had the boil for two with Cajun sauce, snow crab and shrimp. While it was good, but it could have been better. There was a sharpness to the sauce that I think came from raw garlic. A quick saute would solve that problem. The sauce also lacked the saltiness expected with a seafood boil. Some Tony Chachere's on the table would let people salt (and season) to their preference. I'm from New Orleans, so just trust me on this. But these are minor quibbles. We'll be back in a few months, and look forward to visiting again. read more

Delicious Food & Great Service at Crab Grabber! My family and I had an amazing meal at Crab Grabber in Pasadena! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly, and the place was really clean and inviting...always a good sign! My mom ordered the shrimp, crab legs, corn, rice, and egg boil with lemon, and she was absolutely quiet once those gloves went on! She said everything had so much flavor, and she couldn't stop going in for more. I think that's a good sign it was delicious! We all enjoyed the Jasmine tea , it was super refreshing and perfect alongside the seafood. I opted for the vegetable chow mein noodles and vegetable egg rolls, and both were fantastic! If you're not a fan of eggs, just be sure to let them know about the noodles ahead of time. Other than that, the flavors were on point, and I couldn't stop eating. The customer service was top-notch! Friendly and attentive, which really made the experience even better. I definitely recommend this spot if you're craving a flavorful seafood boil or just want some tasty noodles and rolls. Just tried the new seafood spot in Pasadena and it definitely lived up to the hype. Stopped by Crab Grabber and loved that they offer both seafood boils and Chinese food under one roof. We started at the buffet bar with spicy tofu, kimchi, duck feet, and other appetizers before digging into the main event. The seafood boil combo came loaded with snow crab, shrimp, corn, potatoes, and broccoli, all coated in a flavorful sauce that had the perfect balance of spice and butter. The seafood was fresh and cooked perfectly. The shrimp fried rice was another standout--wok-fried with great flavor and a generous amount of shrimp. It's not often you find a place that can do both a solid seafood boil and satisfying Chinese comfort food, but Crab Grabber pulls it off. The combination of Cajun-style seafood and Chinese dishes makes it a fun spot for groups with different cravings. If you're in the Pasadena area and can't decide between seafood and Chinese food, this place gives you the best of both worlds. I'll definitely be back for another seafood feast. read more

What we ordered: * Feast for 2 -- $72.95 * XL upgrade -- +$3 each * Seafood Trio -- added separately The Feast for 2 comes with 1 appetizer, 2 drinks, 2 broths, 2 large protein entrées, dessert, veggies, udon, and rice. The meat quality was really good, the seafood was fresh, and the portions were way more filling than I expected. I thought we might need AYCE to try a little bit of everything, but honestly, we were so full! What I liked most: * Individual hot pots * Everyone can choose their own broth * Comfortable for solo dining * Great for families * Relaxed atmosphere My kids sharing one pot usually turns into an argument, so having their own pot was a big plus for us. They also have lunch specials from 11 AM-2 PM, including shabu sets, bento boxes, and mini donburi bowls. There are fun drink options too, plus ice cream and colorful macaron ice cream for dessert. We had the watermelon & lychee drinks at the end instead of ice cream -- a refreshing way to finish the meal. Good to know: * Family Deal is takeout only * Free parking available * Street parking too Good quality, generous portions, and an easy, comfortable setup. I'd definitely come back

It's under new management, and they have new chefs. The new menu is just as wide and varied as before. We had beef skewers, chicken skin skewers, chicken wing skewers, and shrimp skewers. Everything was on point. All the skewers were barbecued just right, nothing overdone. We had their cold beef noodlr. That was really good, just the right amount of flavor for everything. Their smashed cucumbers, healthy amount of garlic and nicely seasoned. The cheesy corn was a great add-on filler.

Dozo is located in the quiet Monrovia plaza next to Good fortune supermarket. So there's plenty of parking available. The interior was very beautifully designed, modern, clean and spacious. Staff were very nice and attentive. We arrived on a Sunday night for an early dinner at 4:30pm to an empty restaurant but customers slowly piled in. We loved that sashimi was included in the AYCE option because there's no AYCE restaurant in LA (at least we haven't been) that has that and the quality was pretty good. They even had unlimited ikura, raw shrimp, bluefin tuna and so much more include! Lastly, my only complaint was that they don't have half portions of the sushi rolls liked 4 pieces because that really filled us up. But we're already looking forward to our next visit!

I was greeted and seated right away upon entry. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Menu had a great variety. I wanted something soupy for the night. Got the Special Crab Soup with Vermicelli (aka Bun Rieu). Also got the 2 pc Fried Spring Rolls + Lime Soda (redeemed for stamp #9 in mySGV food passport). Wow, crab vermicelli soup was huge! Good portions of seafood and fried tofu. Lots of noodles. Soup flavor was not bad... wished it had deeper crab flavor though. Fried spring rolls with pickled veggies + green leaf lettuce + fish sauce were amazing. Plenty of well seasoned pork filling. What I love most about the rolls was the crispiness and crunchiness of the wrapper. Just delish! It's a winner in my book. Worthy to be ordered again. Thanks 26 Viet Cafe! There's also a promotion for the Salt Pepper Lobster ($20.99) & Golden Yolk Shrimp - $9.99 (ONLY Tues, Wed, and Thurs) Service was very friendly and welcoming. Got the Salt Pepper Lobster and it was so delicious! It was fried to perfection and so crispy! The inside had fresh and juicy lobster. It was packed with flavor without being overly salty. The portion size was very generous and I was blown away by how delicious this dish tasted! The Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp was amazing! The shrimp was so huge and fresh. It was so crispy and the batter wasn't too thick. The salted egg yolk coating was so good. I could tell they used high quality egg yolks to make the coating. The shrimp tasted very juicy and yummy! Also, definitely recommend coming here at 3pm (be sure to go before 3 to line up!) for their dim sum special at the Food Court (next to the restaurant). It's basically dim sim that couldn't sell in the morning. There's usually BBQ pork buns, siu mai, har gow, etc. Their dim sum is very delicious and fresh! We had a very upsetting experience at New Full House in Arcadia on Sunday, September 27…read more Three of us are from Hong Kong and were craving dim sum, so we decided to return to this restaurant because we had eaten here about two weeks earlier with my son and had a pretty good experience -- around 8/10. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. We ordered a large amount of food, including xiaolongbao, fried dough rice noodle roll, BBQ pork rice noodle roll, spare ribs, roast duck, stuffed green pepper, stuffed eggplant, bean curd rolls, fried radish cake, fried shrimp balls, and BBQ pork buns. Our bill came to around $100 including tax. As soon as the first dishes arrived, we noticed that the dim sum was cold. Not lukewarm -- cold. For anyone familiar with Cantonese dim sum, many of these dishes should be served steaming hot. We immediately told our server. The server told us that if we had a complaint, we should speak with the lady in the green shirt, who was the owner. The owner came over and spoke Cantonese with us. We explained that we had eaten here only a couple of weeks earlier and the food had been good and nothing had been served cold. Her response was that today's dim sum had been prepared by a "big chef." There was no apology and no explanation for why the food was cold. She simply walked away. More dishes arrived, and they were also cold. The worst was the xiaolongbao. Not only was it cold, but the dough at the top was hard and appeared undercooked. We called the owner over again and showed it to her. She told us, essentially, "It is like that." She then took one of the xiaolongbao away from our table. Later, while walking past our table, she called out to us that the chef had eaten that piece. We were honestly shocked. We had complained about an item that appeared improperly cooked. We did not give our food to the chef as a complimentary sample. Yet the item was taken away, apparently eaten by the chef, and we were still charged for the order. More cold food continued to arrive. When we complained again, the owner told us, "If I were you guys, I would never come to this restaurant again." That was probably the most surprising response of the entire meal. She then explained to us that the dim sum had already been cooked and was being kept in a warming box, and when customers ordered, the food was taken from there. That at least explained why so much of what we received was not hot. Some dishes were then reheated, but when they came back they were dry, hard, and no longer enjoyable to eat. We showed the owner again. She took some of the food away and later brought us a plate of ham sui gok (鹹水角), which we had never ordered. Again, there was very little communication and no apology. At the end, our bill had no adjustment. There was no discount and no deduction for the xiaolongbao or other dishes that had been taken away or returned because they were not edible. We paid approximately $100 including tax and still left $5 for the servers because we did not feel the servers were responsible for the way management handled the situation. What disappointed us most was not simply that the food was bad that day. Restaurants can have an off day. The problem was how the complaints were handled. A simple apology, replacing the affected dishes, or removing uneaten food from the bill would have been reasonable. Instead, we repeatedly received dismissive responses, including being told that if she were us, she would never come back. After having a good experience here only two weeks earlier, this was extremely disappointing. We will not return, and because one of the dishes appeared undercooked, I also intend to report our experience to the appropriate local food-safety authority.

Jin Duck House is where I only remembered to take pictures and mental notes midway through our…read morelunch, missing the most important dish, the duck. We had a gathering here of about 10 people. The table was reserved and banquet menu items were preordered. Even though 2 people arrived late, the owner didn't seem bothered and still gave great service. The dishes were plated nicely and the portions were perfect. Their signature dish, the duck was cooked perfectly. It was seasoned well, tender and not dry like most 'duck' places. The eel over sticky rice was rich and comforting. The jellyfish had a nice kick, with a slight crunch to the bite. The beef was tender. I think the only dish that was average (but still good) was the walnut shrimp. It had big pieces of shrimp but not enough glazed walnuts. There were other dishes that I forgot about because we're too busy socializing, but remembered those were also good. We were there for at least a couple of hours and never felt rushed, even though they were a full house. The owner even thanked us all as we were walking out, with a big warm smile. Even though the ambiance isn't high end or classy, this is still a great place for a gathering or celebration. Just know that there aren't any small tables for 2. I would seriously consider Jin Duck House again for future gatherings.
