Their services are not worth the eventual headache that they caused. Be wary that even if they overcharge you that they have a policy against refunding money. I had to cancel service with them due to a relocation. Due to a clerical error I never received the docusign to cancel the contract. I was to owe 75% of my contact, no problem. They continued charging my account. When I called to cancel they had no issue backdating the cancelation but refused to refund the additional they charged. I would not recommend using them due to the fact that this is a bad business practice. Go with Ring Alarm ($10 a month) or simplisafe. read more

Been with CPI for three months and very disappointed, the system is unreliable and has worked about 1/2 the time, the install was sloppy and the customer service is worthless. This company has zero interest in hearing the voice of the customer. While speaking with a QC person, he wanted to make the problems with the system my fault. He asked why I tripped the breaker (I have been out of town), he wanted to know then why my wife tripped the breaker (she was at work), he then went to the notes from the install and said that we were renovating the house during the install, which was true, but the renovation has nothing to do with the system, not even in the same space. He was eager to place blame on us. I will have a lawyer involved tomorrow and will be cancelling. BIG Mistake. Do not consider CPI when looking for a security system. If I could give them 0 stars I would. First, I took time out of my work day to be there for the installation and waited hours and called the customer service department several times when no one showed. Finally, I was told my time would be rescheduled. So, I had to take more time off. I understand things happen that cannot be foreseen, so I took this in stride. Two years into my five year service contract, my company relocated me back to Wisconsin, out of CPI's service territory. I called CPI Customer service a dozen of time to try to negotiate a reasonable outcome for both of us but they were obstinate. I don't feel as though I should pay for a service I can in no way utilize. However, I see their side, they invested time and money to install the system and don't want to be out money. My real issue lies with their handling of the situation. Every customer service rep I spoke to was overly aggressive and rude. I am moving halfway across the country, outside of CPI's service territory. I am not trying to swindle them out of a contract by moving down the road. I feel that they should be more accommodating to my situation. THREE DAYS AFTER reporting a service disruption (outage) we STILL do NOT have a functional home security system -- even as our monthly "monitoring" fees continue to be deducted from our bank account...!!! We are "down" for an expedited service call, but SCHEDULED for NO EARLIER than tomorrow (after a FOUR day outage) -- to repair a dysfunctional, NON WORKING home security system (go figure). If your looking into getting a security system don't waste your money on CPI. I've been complaining for over a year about there security cameras not working. My driveway camera only catches about 20% of the activity. I pulled in and out of my garage 3 times one day and it and it capture it once. Friends pull in and out and it never captured them. Same if I'm outside with the dogs. If it's not catching me makes me wonder what else it's not catching. The same with my camera in the back yard. I've worked with CPI and they have always been very nice but the they never fixed the problem. Save your money and do not invest in CPI security cameras they're a waste of money. read more

It is absolutely the worse system ever, absolutely bad customer service and haven't resolved the issue though I put all my time and effort in. They are blaming my internet service provider for not helping them thought the AT&t CUSTOMER SERVICE has provided them all day Sept 23rd finally CPI came to a conclusion that modem is bad. I called AT&T and they replaced the modem yesterday so I helped them for all the pain earlier agent gone through. Now the manager just talked to me who was SUPERRRRRRR RUDE!!! and even the tech tried to explain the system won't work due to Firewall but she doesn't want to take any initiative and said I am the higher authority and will not let me get out of the contract. Lady I will make sure CPI doesn't take any penny out of my account and promise you will fight till you resolve this issue. Even your Tech mentioned people who have AT&T provider they are not installing any services....BET YA after reading this review people will not specifically AT&t PROVIDERS will think 1000 times. We were shopping for an alarm system, but before we had not had a chance to decide, then a salesperson (Vincent Rock) from CPI knocks on our door without announcing at first who he is, tries to invite himself to our home during dinner to do a Demo. My husband said that its not a good time and we never scheduled an appointment, and to leave a card. He started to get an attitude and insisting that he come inside our house. The sales man was making us very uncomfortable.This company sales tactics are so intrusive and obnoxious that we would never ever go with CPI. read more

Equipment is fine. System works but is expensive with an overly long contract. Customer service is poor if you need to do anything besides upgrade your service and give them more money. They're constantly selling you. I'm moving down the street and needed to cancel the service for the house I sold. I wanted to get into the new house before making a decision on my security system but I'm definitely not going with CPI now. They use the oldest games with their phone system - it takes three conversations and transfers before you finally get to the right person with 5 minute holds between each person. They can't cancel over the phone and require you to sign a document which, of course, wasn't sent after the first request and required going through the whole exercise over again. It's 2019 and we have plenty of options for security systems and we're not going to use a company that overcharges us, requires a long contract, and is a burden to deal with. We're likely switching to SimpliSafe or a similar solution for the new house. read more

Having buyers remorse already. Had system installed on Saturday. Already having issues with alarms on the following day(Sunday). I cannot turn on the system without the alarm going off. I called customer service-- they can have a technician come back to look at it in 2 weeks between 12-5 PM. I asked if I could have a 1-5PM window instead as that helps significantly with our work schedule. Answer-NO. To add salt to the wound they are going ahead and charging for monitoring for the month. I asked how could they charge for it when I cannot even turn the system on. Response- sorry you will have to speak with a supervisor but none are available. Just not a good start. I have been a loyal customer of CPI for 12 years. I can no longer afford the service, and customer service has no compassion. 12 years, I have had nothing but CPI. I am being told I signed a 5 year agreement when I moved to a different home and "did I not read the contract?" I am now a single mother and cutting my budget in every possible area. But, customer service is saying they will be sending me to collections if I don't pay 75% of the remainder of the contract. Loyalty means nothing to CPI. I am in a new neighborhood, and they are canvassing all new buyers to install service. I am not sure what was going on with CPI on April 26, my alarm went off and I tried calling the company to let them know everything was fine but stayed on the phone over 12 minutes and CPI never answered. I understand it was a holiday weekend; however, the police were dispatched. If CPI would have answered the police could have been notified that all was well. When the police arrived I was still on hold with CPI waiting for someone to answer. I received a false alarm letter from the city which could have been avoided if enough people had been working at CPI call center. read more

Review based on horrible driver & fleet manager never calling me back... so I was driving down Old States ville Rd. In Huntersville last week with my baby in the back seat when a CPI security van shot out right in front of us from Holbrooks Rd shooting straight across to Monteith Grove Rd and I had to slam on my brakes to avoid T-boning this guy. I know accidents happen and people make mistakes but there must be consequences, & unfortunately when I reported him to customer service and they put me through to the voicemail of the supposed fleet manager for that area, I left a voicemail and never heard back. He had an entire week to return my call. This is how you make a name for yourself as a company. My wife's car was broken into, so we hastily got an alarm system to help her overcome her feeling of being violated from the burglary. They took advantage of her and pushed an expensive system that wasn't needed or helpful. The doorbell camera did not turn on half of the time when people came to the door. I brought this up and I was told that was because the angle of where the doorbell was placed was not ideal. No fix. No potential solution. But we sure kept paying for a doorbell monitor that didn't work. When a package was stolen off of our porch, it didn't record it. When I sold the house and transferred the alarm contract to the new owners, I continued to be billed for services despite calling several times to have the billing appropriately stopped. I finally had enough and reported it to my bank as fraud and filed a complaint with the better business bureau. Still waiting for my money back. Save your money and get an alarm system with a company that doesn't have terrible customer support. read more

Absolutely the worst company I have ever worked with. If this mess hadn't happened to me personally, I would not believe it. This company employs criminals. They stand behind their criminal employees in the wake of overwhelming evidence to their deeds. They cannot be trusted. I will never allow anyone from this company on the premises of my property again and advise everyone I know to beware. Here is my complaint: CPI installer (assistant to the lead installer) stole and consumed 9 beers from my refrigerator in the basement of my home while they were on premises to install my home security system. How do I know this?: - I found empty beer bottles stashed in trashcans, furniture (dresser), tossed on the ground outside where the CPI van was parked for the day. Some of the beer consumed was specialty brews and I can confirm all came from my fridge (the perp did not bring it with him). - CPI is the only company who had the access and the time to do such a deed Here's how the rest of the story went: - When confronted about what we found, the initial comment from the perp's partner was deep regret and apology telling me that this was not the first time this had happened, but the other incident was not conclusive due to teenagers in the house. We have no kids and noone else had been in the house in the basement. The non-perp installer is a good man and did not know what was happening that day. He was busy doing his job. - When the matter was taken to management, the mood changed and the walls started going up. - The perp denied the action and instead of investigating the matter further (as I offered to cooperate with), management chose to close the case and write it off as "he said, she said". Nevermind that I have 8 of the 9 bottles/cans with fingerprints and saliva DNA evidence. "he said, she said" is their stance. - A police report was filed however we chose not to press charges since in essence the "theft" was ~$12 worth of beer, however the real crime was the violation of trust and our privacy. Getting our $12 back was not the issue. - Although I was told "any reasonable request" for compensation would be handled, CPI and I have considerably different opinions on what is reasonable in a situation like this. - In lieu of asking for compensation, I asked the manager I was dealing with to tell me what he thought was fair in a situation like this. I was offered 1 month of free monitoring. (~$50). - In response I requested ~$300-400 worth of hardware to secure a vulnerable spot in my system and told them the $50 offer for compensation for being robbed and having my privacy violated (the perp not only went through my fridge but also the furniture in my bedrooms where we found empty bottles and spend time in our office with financial documents) was a little bit insulting. - Management considered my request "outrageous". - I asked if they would release me from my contract and they agreed. The release of contract: - This was the last ridiculous act the company pulled. Had this gone smoothly, I would feel less compelled to smear their name like this in a public forum. Very bad company to do business with. DO NOT GET THIS SERVICE!!!! We moved and the new owners of our previous home did not keep the service. So we were force to install the service at our new home because we were under a contract. We transferred the service and was told that we had two more years on the contract that was in March of 2016. Have been told by 2 representatives my fee would be waived. Now I've received a bill for that fee for the 3rd time saying it's my final warning - I called they tell me those employees were wrong and I owe the fee and have charged me late fees. They harass my everyday with phones call. I call and talk with them and ask for a supervisor and NEVER get a call back. It's absolutely ridiculous. They should honor their employees word. And if they're going to harass me all the time they should call me back when I request to speak with supervisors. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE! read more

We have a 5 year contract with CPI and we've moved 3 years in. They said to transfer it to our new home, there's a $99 installation fee and we have to sign another 3 year contract. Then to get out of the contract early (by paying 75% of the remainder of the contract), we have to send them a letter. So far I have not had an experience with the actual security system so my review has nothing to do with that. My review is regarding the sales representative that came to my door and the following customer service. He was friendly and seemed informative on the day he came to my house. He was able to answer all of our questions and gave us a deal that we were fine with. The problems happened later when we found out what he'd told us wasn't true. I like to keep a paper record of bills for a period of time, even just an email copy is fine. CPI does not send out a bill if you sign up for autodraft. Something the rep assured us was not the case. I asked specifically for a bill and he assured me that it would come in the mail every month. They don't even send an email reminder that a draft is being taken out. When I called their customer service I was told that I should have negotiated that at the time of purchase and if I wanted a bill I would have to pay the full year up front. Never mind the fact that I had "negotiated" at the time of purchase. I ended up speaking with their customer service three different times. The first told me that she had set everything up and that I would receive a bill in the mail. Then they called my husband, who is listed as a secondary contact, after no attempt to contact me, and told him that they would not be able to send a bill. My experience with CPI is that they tell you what you want to hear and then continue doing whatever they want. I would not recommend based on their seriously lacking customer service. read more

UPDATE: If you have a problem with your doorbell camera as I did call customer service. I called more than once got the right person. I was VERY unhappy and Ashley Bloome was able stay calm and fix my several issues and I even hung up smiling. Mine was mostly a phone setup and sensitivity setup issue. She took all the time needed to help me I did not feel rushed. FYI if you have Consumer Cellular Choose AT&T as Carrier. It does matter. Technicians don't always know all this. But while we were testing the system Tech dept was notified of a problem and even this was fixed. 40 min from ANGRY to HAPPY. read more

CPI has been a life saver for me!! The sense of security provided by the system alone speaks for itself, but what differentiated CPI for me was features like garage door lift sensors and keypad door locks that allows me peace of mind to know my house is secure and to remedy the situation remotely through an easy to use app if I forgot to close or lock something while managing my busy schedule. Lastly everyone from my sales executive to customer service has been amazing - friendly people who have solved my problem or answered my questions efficiently, professionally and with convenience to my schedule top of mind. Worst experience with any kind of business (PERIOD). I scheduled an appointment with them 2 weeks ago and they came late, after spending 2 hrs, the technician said he can't install it (and it was just an upgrade from the previous owners system) and he said he have to reschedule it. I rescheduled it and they called me the same day saying they have to change the appointment to earlier that day because camera installation takes long time but I told them I can't and I arranged my whole schedule (my patients and other commitments) to be available as we agreed up on and it's not my fault that someone overlooked it. I finally agreed after talking to their supervisor to come install it without a camera. I waited 4 hours at home and I kept calling them and they keep saying someone on the way until finally someone at almost 7pm said we have to reschedule again! I told them they are not getting my business and none of my family or people around me especially with this kind of service even before starting! They did not care about the inconvenience for me, for my patients and also my financial losses not working. I would give them ZERO stars if I could read more

Bait and switch. Salesman only focused on making the sale, not delivery or services. Already had an ADT system, and was told by the CPI salesman that the conversion would be easy and quick. WRONG. Install was a total nightmare. Took over 10 hours, and still did not work correctly. They completely messed up our thermostat. The installer left a huge pile of debris in our dining room, plus wrappers, boxes, and piles of sheetrock dust everwhere. System doesn't do what salesman promised. First monthly bill is 45% HIGHER ($95/mo!) than quoted when buying the system. Can't get the "first month free" that was promised. Can't get anyone to help us. Stay away. We just had a video doorbell installed. The CPI tech, Mitchell, was highly professional and personable. He checked out the entire system. I couldn't be more pleased with the product and service! The doorbell is compact and unobtrusive with great resolution. It signals my phone and watch when it detects motion on my front porch and is easy to answer with my CPI app. read more

Service was fine while I had it, though I never had an incident, so who knows? But when I tried to cancel my service, oh boy. I had to call 4 different times (talked to 4 different people), then they made me write a handwritten letter in order to cancel! First letter I've written in probably 5 years. AVOID THIS COMPANY, THERE ARE SEVERAL MONTH TO MONTH SERVICES THAT OFFER MUCH BETTER PRICES. We have been customers with CPI for over 6 years who are moving and need to reduce expenses in our new home. When calling to cancel the service we are told we must pay over $800 dollars to do so because we have 1.5 years left on the insanely long 5 year contract we signed. Ok, we signed the contract, but here's the best part. If we move our service to the new house, we can't just fulfill our contract, we are going to have to sign another 5 year contract. So over the 5 years that we will have to keep their service at a rate that is $30 a month more than competitors that comes to paying $1800 more than we would if we switched. So we will pay the $800 to get out of the terrible contract that we signed because we thought we would be at this address longer. I advise you to not deal with this company as long as they continue to require these ridiculous contracts. Also, the equipment they claim costs thousands of dollars can be purchased from SimpliSafe for $350, and it came with more sensors. read more

I had one sensor stopped working and they are rather asking $25 technician fee to come and fix this even though this is mechanical default.I wont recommend that to anyone , there are many local better ones available without any contract bound This one is not customer friendly. read more

My wife and I recently bought a house. There was an old CPI equipment in the house when we bought it. A sales rep, David Dimartino, showed up to confirm if the equipment was still in the house. Sooner than you can say no, he was already inside our house touching all door knobs and panels wihout any PPE. When I asked him to wear a mask and remove his shoes, his reply was that he had been tested and he would leave the house in two minutes. His visit was completely unnecessary, he overstayed his welcome, and he pitched a terrible deal. We received on the mail better offers from simplisafe and ADT, both more comprehensive and at least 40% cheaper. This was a really intrusive visit and I hope to never see this man near my house again. CPI, please don't use your client database for door to door visits without any PPE, or even better, don't show up at all in the middle of a pandemic with cases on the rise. read more
