If you come here, they will automatically tack on 20% to your bill. So two drinks and an order of tiny s'more tarts cost us over $60. When we arrived, we had to wait about 10 mins. Another couple arrived after us (also with no reservation), and were almost let in immediately until they remembered about us. So they let us both in kind of at the same time. There are only two of those little cabin-looking booths. The couple who came in after us got to sit in one of those, of course. They also got served before we did. There was no reason for us to wait. We didn't see anyone leave, and there was plenty of space in there. Those s'more tarts are not worth $14. They are the size of silver dollars. A melted marshmallow on weirdly cold chocolate on a tiny cookie. read more

I was taken here on a surprise date and I was so incredibly happy. I love cozy ambiances, and this most definitely does it WONDERFULLY. You really feel like you're just hanging out in a nice campsite in the forest here. Do remember though, because of that, it's quite small. The service was fair, nothing to write home about but I'm not upset. Let's get into it. Finding it was not that hard. Drinks in Bacchus are great. Server was a sweet lady, and bartender was awesome too. Guacamole was not that great, it was not fresh and it tasted a bit old. Chicken had a great presentation but it felt short in flavor. My friend got the burger and it was not the best, and my sister got the shrimp, and it was dry as well. We had reservations for Cozy Pine at 5:30. When u make the reservation you have to leave a card on file, and if you don't show it's $25 per head, so you need to make sure that your party will be there. It wasn't so hidden. It's right by the bookshelf. You can see like black trash bags poking out. There was not much effort making this place, and it's overhyped on TikTok. Cozy pine drinks are okay, we did not get anything to eat. They only have appetizers, no dinner options. So please eat, or get there early and have an early dinner at Bacchus. These restaurants are completely different. Cozy pine is very tiny inside. Cozy pine is small, it's like elbow to elbow, and feels pretty crowded. I got up once to use the restroom (there is only one stall) and I couldn't help but bump into a person or two. AC did not work and it was HOT! I wouldn't come back. They used to have these bomb blackened chicken kebab trio with steak and shrimp I was super sad it wasn't there. Server seemed overwhelmed. Fries were good but a little overpriced for some snacks and things on the menu.for instance the charcuterie plate was four pieces of meat and four pieces of toastettes, 8 pieces of cheese, a few olives and a smidge of jam with some nuts. However the bbq fries were a good size and delicious! The strawberry shot was amazing, will try the apple pie one when I get a chance to come back. I think it's cool that we have a few speakeasy vibe options in Irvine. In true speakeasy form, you wouldn't know this place existed if you were just strolling through the Quail Hill center. Even when finding it through Yelp I was very confused at first where it was as I thought I knew that center, but it's inside Bacchus wine bar. Cozy Pines is definitely cozy: intimate experience in the corner of the building with a few community tables and a handful of 4-6 person tables. It's got campground vibes with sleep-away summer camp themed drinks (like a s'mores old fashioned or bug juice), and even some drink cups are camping style tin lookin mugs. The environment is definitely the best part, dimly lit cool clouds, stars, coyote/wolf, owls, trees, cuckoo clocks... really did a great job transforming the space. And of course you access it behind a secret bookcase. Drinks are not bad but nothing spectacular but the theme makes them fun. Food is more snacks and comfort then gourmet, so if you are looking to catch up with a friend over a drink and some snacks I'd recommend this cool little oasis that's very not typical Irvine which is refreshing. read more

When I saw Cozy Pine on social, I was super excited that a themed speakeasy was finally coming to Irvine. Unfortunately, based on the poor experience I experienced I think they're coasting off the fact that they don't have competition yet. We had a reservation and showed up on time. We were not greeted at arrival and stood patiently for about 10 minutes by the hostess stand. The whole time various wait staff saw we were waiting but we were ignored. We finally had to walk by the cashier and asked a waiter how we can check in. We were told to wait some more by the front. Finally we were seated inside Cozy Pine after close to 15 minutes after our reservation. Despite having a reservation they had no tables for me and my husband. We sat at their bar seating, which had a barely squeezed in bar counter that looked like it could barely hold a dining dish. The 'speakeasy' itself is not a speakeasy. It is a section of their restaurant they clearly cordoned off to mimic a campground. The walls do not reach the ceiling, and so it is easy to see daylight and hear the noise from the 'actual' restaurant inside the speakeasy. We wanted to order food and when a party of two was cleared from a center table to a bar seat we moved to the center table. One of the waitresses then said we were "not allowed" to sit at the table because "it is for parties of 4 or more" and asked us to move back to the bar. She claimed "there is a party of 4 coming, so they need this table." But the bar also has four stools?? Why would a reservation for two be treated inferior to a reservation for four? After speaking with another staff member and asking the question why the party of 4 can't be seated at the bar area, we were allowed to stay at the table. The party of 4 never materialized. It took another 15 minutes to place our order. In the meantime we were served room temperature water in camping mugs. When the drinks came, they were lackluster and poorly crafted. I will upload the s'more drink (whiskey) my husband got - which tasted terrible and cost almost $20 dollars. Look at the amount and judge for yourself if we made the right decision to order the drink (for us, the answer is a clear no). Overall it took 45-50 minutes for our drinks and one food entree to arrive. We were actually just about to cancel our food order and ask for the check with the skewers showed up. I hate being harsh. I love speakeasies and I always want places to do well. But the entire experience seems like a cash grab to market to those who want to "do it for the 'gram" or post yet another video on TikTok. If you actually care about service and drinks I can't say that this is worth it at all. I truly hope our experience was an outlier, but it turned us off so much that I doubt we will be returning to Cozy Pine or even to try their main restaurant. And having to consent to putting in a credit card and being charged a fee for no-show when I wasn't even seated on time by the restaurant is a bit of an insult when the service is so poor. Very casual atmosphere. We were surprised to have enjoyed the food. The skewers were flavorful and absolutely loved the s'mores! They have a really wine list and most people seemed to really like the cocktails. I'm not much for cocktails and usually prefer wine. The only thing I didn't like was that they have to keep opening and closing the main door to provide service. The camp environment and lighting is done really well but when they keep opening the main door it kind of ruins the ambiance. Not sure they can do anything about it though. What a charming experience! It's not your typical speakeasy -- it's essentially a small, themed room located within Bacchus Bar and Bistro; no knowledge of a password or secret entrance required. Making a reservation was super easy through the Yelp app, and the staff at Bacchus was very accommodating when we called to inform them we were going to be running late. They were attentive to our needs and allowed us to change our table (to one of the cuter cabin-themed ones), checked up on us regularly, and alerted us of the kitchen's last call. The room itself is pretty small -- some might say the tables and chairs are a little cramped, but I thought it was pretty cozy. The themed background music and warm, flickering light also contributed to that effect. Each one of us in our party of four ordered a different drink -- the Apex Predator, Death Valley, Scout Troup, and Camp Anawanna. It was especially fun to see the marshmallow accompanying the Camp Anawanna drink be roasted right at our table. We also ordered the mini s'mores tarts to keep the "campfire" theme going. Everything was pretty good -- a little pricey, but I think it's the vibe that we're paying for. The Cozy Pine is tucked away behind a book case in the Bacchus restaurant. It's a camp themed speakeasy and the ambience really fits with the theme. The inside makes you feel like you're in a cabin with 20 other of your fellow Girl Scouts. We were seated at one of the "tents" and it was definitely on the cozy side. It may be a little cramped if you're on the taller and bigger side so if you can get the picnic tables, you may be more comfortable. As the area is very cozy, you may get a little warm so dress in layers! The menu is different from the Bacchus menu. I had eaten dinner there first so wanted to try the dessert at the Cozy Pine. I decided on the s'mores tarts in keeping with the camp theme. You get 2 tarts for $14. I wasn't expecting the tarts to be cold. The Graham cracker crust was slightly soft which leads me to believe the chocolate cremeaux was piped in much earlier in the day or even the day before and left in the refrigerator. The chocolate cremeaux was cold and gritty in texture instead of being smooth and creamy. The toasted marshmallow did appear to be homemade but it was also cold. No one in my party finished the s'mores tarts. It was very disappointing because we had expected it to be warm. Cozy pine is located in the restaurant Bacchaus in Irvine. It is in the quail hill shopping center so ample of free parking which is nice. Otherwise, this speakeasy is small and intimate so reservations are hard to come by. There are literally about 4 tables and side bar seating so if going as a walk in I recommend going right at opening to have your best chances of getting in. We arrived at 4:45pm on a Saturday and they said they could accommodate us as a walk in for an hour which was nice. I believe it is 90 minute timed seating anyways. Aesthetically they did a really good job playing into the camping theme and even the music is right on point. All the drinks are themed and fun. They are on the pricier end of $19 and up but delicious. I loved the camp anawana cocktail with the marshmallow and chocolate taste. For the tequila lovers then you will enjoy the death valley. They have small bites so I recommend not coming hungry but I will say the goat cheese balls were divine. So crispy and cheesy! I was a huge fan with the honey. I recommend this by all means. Service was friendly and attentive for the most part. It is a tight space so it seems they only have one server but she did a great job attending to us. I thought it was cute that they give you your bill in a soup can, very creative. Otherwise, I would love to come back to try the rest of the drink menu! This is a wonderful little speakeasy in Quail Hill! It was difficult to come by a reservation, so we took the first available spot on a random Tuesday evening and were thoroughly impressed. Both of the drinks we tried, the Scout Troop and the Apex Predator, were wonderful: the Scout Troop was a little heavy on the ice, but still had a great flavor. We also split the smores tarts. These were good, but I would have wanted to see the tart portion be toasted rather than cold like the marshmallow on top of it was. Such a great addition to the cocktail bar scene in Orange County! We booked our reservation for Cozy Pine about a month out, and when we arrived -- we knew why they fill up so fast! The inside is super tiny, making the space feel intimate and charming. There were 10 or less tables in the whole place, and none of them look like they could fit large groups, just an FYI. The menu is rather small, but filled with uniquely crafted cocktails. I ordered the off-menu Joshua Tree at the recommendation of our server. It was a mezcal-based drink that packed a bit of a punch. My partner ordered the Camp Anawanna, essentially a s'mores old-fashioned, complete with a marshmallow that they roast at your table. Our server shared with us that Cozy Pine is the same owner and some of the team from The Blund Rabbit in Anaheim. No wonder the drinks were so high-class! She also assured us that, though the menu is currently small, they're working hard to beef it up and get more camp-themed drinks on it soon! The attention to detail and dedication to theming of Cozy Pine was amazing. From the country music playlist, the "night sky" above us, and receiving your bill in a soup can, they thought of EVERYTHING. Drinks were around $18-19, fairly typical for a craft cocktail bar. How do I know Knott's Berry Farm sharted? Because we found the skid mark! Music, too loud and banjos for the sake of banjos. Decor, pretty lame. Menu, limited and not great. Service, they stole the drinks before we were finished with them and rushed us out saying our reservation time was up, even though a couple who was sitting down before us was still sitting there when we left. I typically would have shut that down, however, the place sucks. Advice, don't go here. Hopefully it gets converted into more Bacchus space soon, because that place is aiight. read more

This is a speakeasy located in Bacchus at the Quail Hill Shopping Center. The parking is in an open lot and pretty easy to find. Ambience is great. If you're into a little campfire camping feel, it's a cute spot for a date. It smells woodsy, there's lots of string lights and there's the option of booths, tables and bar stools it is a bit small so definitely recommend making a rsvp or coming in right when it opens. Good: think about easy small plates and things you'd eat while camping. We tried the deviled eggs, corn dip and bratwurst. In all honesty I don't think any of these apps were worth the higher price point, but the drinks were good. Most drinks are whiskey based and I believe there was 1-2 drinks that was vodka or gin based. The Apex Predator was my favorite, along with Ruby's first expedition. Service was great. Saw this cute little speakeasy all over my IG, and accidentally stumbled upon it when I was in the same plaza. Hidden behind a moving bookshelf at @bacchus_irvine , @cozypineirvine features an intimate, campground themed seating area and drink menu. The concept was cute, although it seemed a bit cramped in space and a bit of a fire hazard (since both our drinks were lit on fire and we were surrounded by flammable decor and paper towels). The servers were really nice and one of them helped come up with the drink menu, which features 6 cocktails (3 whiskey, 2 vodka, 1 gin). Our cocktails contained garnishes that were both lit on fire, and really added a unique infusion of smokiness and rosemary/marshmallow into our drink. Secret Hidden Lounge inside Bacchus with the ambiance that reminds me of the most romantic night in Big Bear. Intimate seating, great for date night or friends outing. They have some snacks but I had already ate at Bacchus. I tried the Squeal For Me Boy ($19) cocktail which was perfectly balanced. It has a bacon fat washed whiskey base with maple and bitters. What a delightful surprise in Irvine of all places. I hadn't been to Bacchus in probably 12 years or so, but it's always held a special place in my heart for being where I made some of my best friends ever. It was wonderful to learn that they branched out into cocktails more and had their own speakeasy. Exactly as named, it's a cozy little experience where you are secluded away from the wine bar while still being in the middle of it. Aside from the well curated and thoughtful cocktail and nibbles menu (which is themed to the setting with things like s'mores as well a phenomenal tomato bisque), the most impressive thing is the sound design. You truly cannot hear any of the outside wine bar and you can almost trick yourself into thinking you're up at the cabin in Big Bear. Jenny helped us out and she is part of the whole experience as the consummate professional and host. She's smart, personable, and really takes care to make everyone feel welcome. read more
