Cozy congee is perfect for soup season! It's comfort food delivered with care from the friendly staff, and every bite is so tasty. I recommend adding an egg or century egg for added protein and creaminess, and a side of the chili oil, the kimchi, and pickled veggies! They also have delicious drinks so take a look at their specials. The bowls are filling and you can also add one of those Chinese "donuts." The restaurant is also so airy with large windows, and they have a very cute and clean space that invites gathering with friends and family. I highly recommend checking it out. You will have to find street parking.

One of my favorite spots to eat in Portland because it's just comfort in a bowl. Whether it's a scorching 90 degree afternoon or a dreary winter day, you'll find me at Cozy Congee. Chef Jihae did such an amazing job crafting each bowl to perfection. The flavors and textures are all on point. My favorite is the Thai Jok because I've never had Thai porridge before and it's the best combo of tangy, slightly sweet, and savory. But everything else is amazing and friends who grew up eating congee on the regular have praised the dishes to be really good. An open and airy ambience with cute decor touches. Drink specials in the summer! Maybe catch you at Cozy?

A yummy start to the new year! We got the chicken congee with all the toppings and the pork floss with donut congee. We also tried the Hong Kong tea which had a rich black tea flavor and was well sweetened. Prices aren't terrible, it was $35 before tax for all you see in the pic. Everything was so flavorful and warm - it's perfect rainy day food!

I can really tell that the food is made with intention and thoughtful ingredients. The portion was perfect size. Friendly workers and clean atmosphere. The owner brought out crayons and paper for my kid when she was getting restless so I was able to finish my food in peace. The Chinese donut was delightful. Will definitely return again on my next trip to Portland.

My go-to spot for congee and easily the best in Portland. It's always nothing but good vibes here, and the owner Jihae is seriously the sweetest. She's built an amazing team, and you can feel the love in both the service and the food.

Sometimes you want something filling and yummy to eat but don't want the heaviness which is why cozy congee is the best simple meal to eat. I've gone here 3x and have tried the Thai pork Jok, Chinese donut + pork threads congee and Chinese pork + century egg congee. The congee they make is really savory and flavorful. You do get the option to add on more toppings for extra charge. The additional onsen egg is usually my go-to for extra protein. I like that Cozy Congee is casual and easy for a quick bite and always hits the spot.

While visiting Portland our daughter a local culinary connoisseur kept recommending we try this fun place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We got to meet the owner Jaylah not sure how to spell her name, she is very personable and gracious. She suggested I taste test the Century Duck egg before ordering as it can be an acquired taste. I thought it was delicious so I ordered the pork congee with the Century Egg. My daughter ordered Congee with pork strands and we also put in an order for a Chinese doughnut and Vitamilk. She demonstrated how the donut is best eaten by dipping it in the milk. Very tasty and fun. My pork Congee was beautifully presented as seen in the photo. I thoroughly enjoyed the Century Duck Egg and it paired nicely with the tender pork pieces I discovered like a treasure hunt in my Congee. Having never eaten Congee before I found it to be very comforting, and it provided for a nice warm flavorful dish on a cold day. My daughter ordered what she always does, Congee with pork strands and Chinese donut which she yummed her way to the bottom of the bowl. My husband ordered Congee with pork meatballs which he enjoyed greatly. I give this unique eatery five stars for service, a cool vibe, excellent staff and overall cleanliness, and I especially like how the food is prepared fresh and to order. Come try this reasonably priced eatery in when you are in Portland you will be glad that you did.

First things first, the staff are superb and very friendly. Cozy Congee is in a cute space with cafe/Boba vibes. The congee tastes authentic, and offers genuine configurations. There is a good array of options for toppings and types of congee. The only reason I am giving a 4 is because I don't think the value quite got there for me. I understand rent and overhead in the central eastside can come at a premium, but it was a bit pricey for me for congee. Besides that, everything is a 5/5 for me.

Congee is the ultimate comfort food for me since it is so healthy, satisfying, nourishing and can be thought of as Chinese medicine. Cozy Congee is unlike any other place that I've been to that serves congee. It's not the typical Chinese joint, or a hole in the wall joint that primarily caters to an all asian/Chinese clientele, so my expectations were a bit tempered despite the hype and good reviews from friends and Yelpers alike. The space while small, was very clean, organized, well thought out, and full of windows that provided a ton of natural light. I was really impressed that one of the staff (perhaps owner?) had recognized me from a previous visit and was very warm and inviting and made me feel like dining at a relative or friend's house. Other places I've been to that serve congee generally have dozens of topping variations. Cozy Congee breaks from the norm and instead offers just 3 Chinese variations and a Thai style congee. The Chinese toppings were the typical classic tried and true options of pork floss, velveted meat slices, century egg, and Chinese Donut. I opted for the Thai Pork Jook since that was more of a novelty for me. The congee was served at the perfect temperature for me where I didn't have to cool it down by blowing in between spoonfuls. There was a perfect amount of garlic bits and ginger and white pepper that was assertive yet not overpowering. The Chinese donut was a bit below average relative to others I've had, but I still recommend getting it, since you can't really have congee without it. Overall I like Cozy Congee. It's not the best congee I've had, but the novelty of the Thai jook definitely scratches an itch for me that will keep me coming back.

Finally was able to get out here and try the congee! Congee is such a rustic but comfort food to me and I was excited to see how elevated it could be here! Was not disappointed. All the flavors we tried were delicious and I would definitely recommend adding the onsen egg. It was so good. Great flavors and the Chinese donut addition is a must! The one thing that I was hoping to see was Chinese donuts that were made in house but, totally understand that that's asking for a lot. Nevertheless, they were super fresh and tasty. Would definitely recommend giving this place a try and experiencing some elevated congee! I love that congee is becoming more mainstream and I hope that more and more people come to appreciate its simplistic perfection.

Cozy Congee is definitely a cozy establishment offering one of the best comfort foods. There are a handful of tables and seats with homey decor inside the establishment. The service was warm and friendly while answering all of our questions on the menu items and portion sizes. The congee were definitely scrumptious, boasting bold flavors with a nice silky texture. Our favorite was the pork threads and donut congee, but we wished the bowl came with more of those delicious pork threads. We felt like the pork meatballs and golden mountain seasoning sauce made the taste profile for the Thai Pork Jok congee a bit too salty for our liking.

I LOVE congee and we have congee in Portland!!! Cozy Congee sure is cozy. A small space, seating no more than 15 people, Cozy Congee is serving traditional Chinese congee with Thai inspired flavors. They can get busy during the weekends, but they are worth the wait. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted and presentation is beautiful. I got the Thai Pork Jok, one of their best sellers, and it did not disappoint. The congee was the perfect consistency, not too watery. The pork meatballs were fragrant and the whole bowl was just pure comfort and nostalgia. I would love to see homemade soymilk on the menu! The owner is sooo nice and welcoming, and you can tell she is truly passionate about her job. I looove Cozy Congee and I cannot wait to be back!!!

The fried rice's flavor was pretty muted..I prefer a little saltiness in my fried rice and it honestly had barely any salt? It tasted like plain rice with a little soy sauce and maybe oil flavor? It was very thick and each bite felt more breading than chicken..The flavor of the sauce was good but with how thick the breading was, the inside of the chicken had no flavor at all once I bit in.. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items, but I don't think I'll be back to try any others at least for now. The smashed cucumber salad was super refreshing -- lots of garlic, crunchy, and exactly what you want after hours in the car. The green onion pancakes came out crispy and satisfying, but my favorite was the wood ear mushroom. They did something to it that made it insanely umami and savory, like a dish you keep thinking about later. The fried rice was solid and full of flavor, and you could tell the kitchen cared. The dining room was pretty empty when we went, so maybe it's newer or underrated, which feels unfair because the food deserves more people. Parking around there is kind of a hassle and the neighborhood isn't the prettiest, but this is a definite stop for me next time I'm in Portland.

Before coming, I did my homework and checked reviews on Chinese review website. The opinions were kinda extreme, some said it was terrible, others said it was amazing. Since it was only a 1 minute walk from my hotel and actually open on Thanksgiving, I went for it. I ordered jalapeño beef 小炒牛肉, veggie chow mein 蔬菜炒面, and string beans 干煸四季豆. The beef came out first, and the first bite surprised me. It didn't taste like the jalapeño beef from other Sichuan restaurants. It tasted exactly like Cantonese beef with gailan, but with green bell peppers instead. Instead of tingly spicy, it had a subtle sweetness. If you're Cantonese, you probably know exactly what I mean. The veggie chow mein was good and reminded me of late night street noodles in Guangzhou, and it also had a slightly sweet touch. The string beans were good too, and didn't have any sweetness. There was some savory minced pork in it. If you're not a strict vegetarian and don't mind a little meat in the dish as long as you only eat the veggie part, go for this one, it was flavorful. While having dinner, I overheard Cantonese in the kitchen between the chef and staff, and ahhh, that explains why I tasted the Cantonese flavor in my dishes! It also explains the two types of extreme reviews. So let me be honest, if you come here expecting the Sichuan/Hu'nan version of stir-fried beef with a strong spicy profile, you might be disappointed. But for me, it was honestly a lucky hit. I did see some Sichuan spicy dishes on the menu, but I didn't order them, so I can't say if they're authentic. But based on what I ordered tonight, I was happy with everything.

The service was kind of weird/awkward about IDing us for drinks. I assured her I was happy to grab my ID and she was kind of rude, alluding to the fact I look old and she doesn't need it haha. As our food started to come, our friend noticed a long black hair in the chicken dumplings. We notified our server and she investigated the dish on our table. This rubbed us all the wrong way because you should believe your customer and take the plate from the table and maybe exam it in the back/kitchen? We didn't like the hair deter us and everything was truly delicious. We had pork soup buns (good, but not very soup-y), pork wontons in chili oil (yum!), chicken potstickers (probably my favorite), spicy chow mein (delicious), the dry fried green beans (so good)! We were stuffed. I ended up telling the server that we wouldn't need the new chicken dumplings and she was very rude and taken back by that. I feel bad to inconvenience them, but none of it would've happened if there wasn't a hair in the food? There were other small, rude things our server did but ultimately, it didn't ruin our night or take away from the delicious food! I would recommend the restaurant with the warning that the service is lackluster.
