Unfortunately the cost of my service continues to escalate by an appreciable amount annually, and unfortunately the service I am provided continues to de-escalate, as it gets worse and worse as time goes on. Today, I had 2 small issues, it took me 2 phone calls, (the first one gave me incorrect information, so I called back), to get the issues corrected. total time spent on the phone was just shy of 1 hour! And part of the problem is that as I was transferred from one unknowing support person to another (I believe I spoke to 5 different people), only the final person spoke clear English, the earlier ones were barely understandable, as they barely spoke english, and this is a big time problem with many companys' support staffs. For what I pay monthly, I deserve better, and so do others! They have a near monopoly, they know it, so why offer better service and better support, or hire people who speak our native language fluently. We are stuck! read more

The worst Customer service I have ever experienced. The people they hire must really struggle with basic functions. I called about lowering my bill and after 3 hours, reduced it by $25.00 I then received a text about "call, we found additional savings". I called, waited and spoke to a person who, after 90 minutes, quoted me a charge $140. MORE than what I was originally paying. I asked her what was wrong with her. I moved out of California and 2 years later I get an email from a collection company about service unpaid for through Cox. I thought it had to be a scam but called Cox and was amazed that they never tried to contact me but sent me to collections as their final bills were in my company name and the post office did not forward company mail, only personal mail. I paid Cox once the bill was verified but what a lousy level of service to not contact me about a bill after using their service for 20 years. Called to schedule appointment, was told a week out. Okay, not ideal but is what it is. So the appointment was set for today between 10-12. I took the day off to meet them. At 11 today, they called to say they don't have any cable boxes and no idea when they'll get them and if I want, I can drive around from Cox store to cox store to see if they have any returns I might be able to get. Then they just move my next appointment for two weeks away without asking or anything. Told to call sales who told me to call retention who told me nothing they can do. The absolute worst company in the planet and I hope they go out of business. Guess they don't offer cable services any longer, I'll switch to someone else. Just absolute trash. Drops connection every night any where around 10 through 12 for 30 minutes or longer. If I had a choice to get a different provider in my area I'd switch 100% I need a reliable internet connection 24/7 not 22 hours a day and it decides to cut in and out every night. The scary part is when people like me have online conference calls or classes. This has the potential to literally ruin your grades or career. Cox Cable is the quintessential example of why monopolies are terrible. They have 1 1/2 stars on here and couldn't care less. We just signed up for internet and phone for our home a month ago and were told for an extra $10 they have a special package to include cable. So we went with it. Our first bill arrived and it was an extra $30, not $10. When we called to complain they said that's just the way it is, but they would review our call to see if someone quoted us the $10. Once they confirmed that he in fact did, they simply said that he wasn't authorized to do so and they wouldn't honor it. When we said that we didn't want cable at that price difference we were told the lower price we were formerly quoted without cable was no longer available. A few days after that (about a week ago) our cable stopped working. We tried rebooting manually, we used their app to try a reboot, and then called them when those things failed. After the representative couldn't fix it we asked that they send somebody out. Rather than apologizing for their malfunctioning product, they instead threatened to charge us $75 if the problem was because we did something to the cables. My wife asked what we could possibly do to the cables to make it not work. Their response - "Well, suppose your husband gets upset that you stay at home all day watching tv, so he gets angry and cuts the cable. We would charge you $75 for that." Can't make this stuff up. Oh, and by the way Cox, my wife is one of the hardest working people I know, and your misogynistic examples for your threat aren't appreciated. But, as Cox knows, there's nothing I can do. There's no real alternative (I don't consider CenturyLink a real alternative). Worst customer service out there. read more

Business office is terrible! We've paid our bill online for years. All of a sudden payments, whether from our account at Chase Bank or our Citi Credit card are rejected....both accounts are fine and both Chase and Citi Card say the problem is on the receiving end: Cox!! Had to online chat with Cox (only way they'll interact with you) and they are unable to understand why their system is acting this way.....so.....no answers. I on August 10th upgraded my service I was told that because I have been with them since 2012 they would not charge my for the pro tech service. Suddenly the premier internet rate went up about 30% ($59 to $88) with no advance notification. Called loyalty number but resulted with no advantage of long term Cox customers (10+ years). In fact, first they said there is not available offer, but when I requested to close my account, they offered $21 less which is $67. But this means still 10% increase when compared with previous payment. No need to continue anymore. I found another deal from century link which is $45 for 80 Mbps. Long story to short it seems that Cox changes offers based on your negotiation skills. They are far from standard offers in practice. Extremely disappointed with the service I recently received from relocation specialist Justin Bolt. Had Cox internet and home phone with Cox but was moving. Justin contacted me when he found out house was sold and quoted me a price for internet at our new home (we no longer needed home phone). He never mentioned anything about a connect fee of $100. When I got a confirmation of the new service I contacted him about the fee and he indicated he could get it waived once the service was installed. Coincidentally at the time of this discussion, we were having problems with the internet at our old address. He dispatched a 3rd party tech who came out and assessed that the box we had was not working. Since we were not going to have a landline at our new home, he installed a new box that was for internet only. I was scheduled to move in a week so the tech instructed me to bring the old box with me and he would hook it up once I moved. The day of the move, the 3rd party tech came and brought a new box with him even though I brought the old one as instructed. All he did was take it out of the box and plug it in. I have been charged a $100 install charge at both locations. Have spoken with and left messages for Justin multiple times about getting at least one of the charges removed and he never responds nor has the charge been removed. We are snowbirds. When we get back in the fall, going to look into other providers that are upfront about fees. Customer service also said they couldn't do anything. read more

Ever since Cox cable switched from analog to digital, we have had nothing but trouble with the signal. We are currently trying to watch the 147th Westminster Dog Show that I recorded last night. Audio and visual pauses, freezes and jumps throughout the viewing. Watching the recording of CNBC programs yesterday, the same thing along with pixilation. This is also a regular occurrence when watching the Golf Channel or ABC News live. So it doesn't matter if we are watching live or recorded TV and it doesn't matter which channel we are trying to watch. Also, cable resets are starting to happen more frequently, and during prime time viewing, interrupting the show that I am trying to watch. If you have an alternative, I would choose that alternative. read more

When my mother had to be moved into memory care, we closed her account and sent Cox to pick up their equipment. The customer service agent told us mom would be credited back $400 for the months her service was not in use, but mom had paid for. This was a pleasant surprise, and also not true. 3 months later we received a forwarded bill for $600, which nobody at Cox could explain to us, because they would not discuss Mom's account with me (even though I am her POA). My mom is an elderly dementia patient in memory care, the house is vacant with no Cox equipment or service, and Cox has now sent the mystery $600 to collections. Luckily mom has no need for her stellar credit rating any longer - because Cox will NEVER get a dime. And word to the wise, if your elderly and confused parents have Cox service....watch out for predatory billing. read more

We are long term Cox customers and I have never been more excited about finding a reputable company to substitute for cable tv, Internet service, home security and phone. Our rate suddenly went up about 15 % with no advance notification. When I called to ask about this, I was told that it was noted in the contract which we signed several years ago. The courtesy of an email before raising rates would be go along ways to thinking that they have an ounce of integrity. Furthermore, I asked for a new package deal - the guy offered to save me $ 36 a month by removing premium channels (worth $ 62) and reducing my Internet speed by 90 %. Being a long time customer, I recently bought a house that needed 3 cable outlets installed in 3 different bedrooms. I was very clear when I set this appointment up on what I needed. The lady assured me they can do it, I'd just need to purchase a cable plan for them to come out, which I could cancel. So that was fine. They gave me a day and 2 hour window, didn't show up the at all. When I called to confirm, they apologized and rescheduled and gave me a $20 credit, thanks for paying me $10 an hour to do nothing for 2 hours. Today the guy comes out and says oh no, we can't do what you're asking, that's not on the work order. And because I have a flat roof, they won't do this at all. As you can see, my frustration lies with the person that I spoke to originally but overall, Cox's operation is horrible. As a company, COX operates like a monopoly. They continue to sell more of their services and upgrades to gain more revenue. I purchased the highest speed internet service 2 years ago. Now they continue to sell me more and more. They continue to increase my monthly bill. When I try to discuss the increases, COX says the only way is to reduce the cable and internet services I have. Their negotiation was to hang up on me, twice! Last year we had our internet and cable tv go out in our home way too many times. Their compensation to us was $20 off a months bill. That was an insult for the inconvenience for the amount of times and services lost. I will state when the technicians come to our home, they are very good and customer friendly. The day will come when COX will loose many customers due to better technology and better competition. read more

The cox gigablast works great but with cox cable they will rip you off with the prices I had a plan with all the channels for a reasonable price when I moved I had it set up to be similar price but when I said i didn't want to pay for installation they fixed that but I lost my promotional package and a different rep said they could not transfer it but it was transferred before the installation credit was put in by the second rep now I'm screwed my plan jumped over 100 bucks so I had to get rid of all my channels down to basic for 24 months I would suggest everyone try to get rid of cable in your lives there's enough free stuff so you don't have to lose money read more

We have had Cox for cable TV and internet for several years. For a while they were great--reliable and rarely a problem. However the quality of the service has been in steady decline for some time, and recently their cable service has been spotty, unreliable and constantly freezing up. Since we had their service for quite a while, we know how to do the basic trouble shooting and rebooting, which we always did before calling. As the problems became more chronic and we had to call about outages, they were less and less responsive and the "solutions" weren't working. All this while charging more and more money for their lousy service. Now the customer service agents are not even nice--they don't LISTEN and just give canned responses that accomplish nothing. We did have a technician come out a couple of months ago who replaced equipment, and it was better for a little while. Now we are having problems again. Today I called twice, and then ended up with a texting agent. What a MESS! Nothing she did was effective and then she said we need another visit from a technician and they might charge us $75 for it. She kept ignoring the texts I was sending and it was like talking to a wall. Instead of responding to my input, she kept sending the same pre-written canned responses. Finally, in extreme frustration I asked: "Is English your mother tongue?" --meaning "is there some REASON you cant seem to understand what I am telling you. . . You are NOT listening to me!" Then she flipped out with a "we dont believe in racism" response. SERIOUSLY?!?!? WORST customer service ever. I was left wondering if she is stupid or trained to treat people this way. It was a waste of time, and our cable was out for more than 12 hours today. It's still not on. Long and short, we immediately started checking around and TOMORROW we will have a new cable provider and we can put Cox Communications in rear view mirror. Watch for legit scam. If you upgrade your router to a Cox brand Assys (typo) they will mail you a non working one. Calling for a tech makes it worse. The tech who is told the minute he walks in the door, the router modem is not working, i.e. no power light. He agrees and gets another one from truck and puts it in. Great right. Switch to the bill. If it's their equipment, free service call. Well what do you think? 100 service call charge on Bill. Calling customer service gets you a rehearsed answer, agent says, There are no notes from the tech, to waive this charge..... Really? No record of broken router in inventory and a good one replacing it? Techs on commission for Christmas or end of year sales maybe. Where's the consumer advocate in AZ? Wow just spoke to one of their "Customer Service" Reps on the phone about hooking up internet service in 4 new properties I manage and I don't think I have ever dealt with anyone more unpleasant in a long time. Just by the way he introduced himself I knew it was going to be a difficult conversation. Rude angry grumpy and just determined to pick a fight. Jumped straight over to AT&T after talking to him and they were super nice cheerful and helpful. Over the past few months I've been experiencing daily outages 2 - 3 x daily. Usually lasting from 10 minutes to two hours. Currently, I've been without service since last Friday(!) evening. I have now just received the third notice delaying the estimated time before restoration of service: 2 more days! Reason given: due to the inclement weather...' What inclement weather??? I live in Tucson. We've had perfectly beautiful fall weather. Barely a breeze and not even a sprinkle of rain! More PR BS. Well, since they haven't a clue as to how to maintain their equipment and no real idea of how long it will be out, I know for sure when my service will return: Just as soon as I can get a tech from Xfinity out to connect me to an actual internet provider! Here's why I'm giving one star, and it's mainly for their customer service. A few years ago, we had a rep come by our door and offer their Gigablast for a certain price that was to be locked-in. Well, two years later that didn't happen and our bill went up around 40%. After I called and complained, they let me know that the rep shouldn't have done that however they'll give us a price that was all of a couple dollars more. Ok, that's fine. So we're moving to another state where Cox isn't offered, so I called to let them know that we'd be cancelling and they let me know that our last bill would be the final. I asked if that was all and was assured that I was good to go. Fast forward a month and a half after we'd moved and I get hit with a bill for $92.00 for equipment. I called and told the rep that the previous rep never mentioned anything about returning equipment, and the rep let me know that she'd open a case on it and that I should be ok. Then we get another bill "past due", so I called back and told the new rep, as well as a supervisor, that I'd have happily returned any equipment if we were told to do so. The supervisor assured me that I'd get a call back from a manager 24-48 hours, and here it is four days later and I've heard nothing. They also let me know that, since the account was no longer active, they couldn't fix the charge. So I basically had to pay almost $100 for something that we weren't even told about, nor had I heard back after being reassured that I would have. Last thing I needed was to be taken to collections even after being reassured that someone would've gotten back to me for something that wasn't even our fault. This is why Cox sucks at what they do. read more
