I found this place just driving past and it is now my favorite spot. Before I get into the food I just wanna say the staff are amazing. Even when it's slow, they continue to work they're always cleaning something. It has to be by far the cleanest restaurant I've been to. The food I have to say is very fresh. Everything was piping hot and delicious. The first time I visited the establishment I tried the fish and chips. It was a giant portion, but was so good. You get a bunch of fries with it. They even have a special sauce to dip with. my second visit I tried to mushroom Swiss burger. It was thick it was juicy. The bun wasn't soggy probably one of the best burgers I've had in my 13 years I can't wait for my next visit. I think this time I'm gonna go for a shake my buddy said it was delicious, thank you to your staff for a continuous great experience. The food was good, lots of choices. Do not eat in the restaurant. I brought my family and they do not have bathrooms. How is this even allowed to not offer bathrooms in a sit down restaurant? My five year old couldn't hold it, so we had to end our meal early to go find a bathroom. The health department should look into this. read more

My friends and I took the chance with Cow & Cod. We were a little apprehensive after Herfy's and the name is not very attractive. We were anxious to find another place where you can sit down and eat a meal for lunch in Auburn. Bottom line is we were pleasantly surprised. We followed the reviews and stuck to the burgers which were served fast, fresh, and flavorful. Good value for the money. The onion rings and curly fries are also good. One friend had one of their milkshakes and gave it very high reviews. I had the Farmer Burger and they had the cheeseburger combos. We all agreed that we will return again next week. I ordered a veggie burger and they gave me a cheese burger. I noticed "CH" written on the top. So I asked them if this was a veggie burger. They told me it was a cheeseburger. And I said I ordered a veggie burger. The lady says "what does the receipt say". who the f cares what the receipt says?? If your employee put in the wrong thing that is on you, not me! Why the f would I order a cheese burger when I don't eat dead animals?? Got the fish and chips as well as prawns. The fish is breaded nicely and is thinly filleted. The taste of the fish is nothing remarkable, pretty standard. I love that they have crinkle cut fries but ours were rather greasy. The prawns were high quality but the breading was quite thick on those compared to the fish, which I'm not wild about . Fair Food. The burger, fries and onion rings all taste like the Puyallup Fair. Had a hankering for onion rings - they did not disappoint. Actual rings of onion, battered up and fried. Came with fry sauce. Burgers, fries and rings are all fresh cooked. Portions are absolutely enormous. I finished half the burger, took me 5 minutes to eat the first ginormous onion ring I pulled out of the bag and I saved the rest for later. Husband tried to eat his cheeseburger while driving and wound up showering after that adventure. Added bonus - they got the order right. Personally, I'd rather it just be called Herfy's. In any case, the amount of food was great. The quality of the food was good. Considering how much fish I got in my Fish & Chips order, they should give a LOT more tartar sauce, though. Whenever I'm craving really yummy fries, I think of Herfys. I moved to Everett for 3 years and whenever I came home to visit family I would be sure to go through Auburn to get my Herfys fix. Delicious crispy fries with super yummy fry sauce mmmmmmmmm. And their burgers never disappoint either. You can tell that their cooks are very well trained because my burger is always exactly as i like it and always the same every visit. That consistancy is rare especially from fast food. I've had their chicken strips and nuggets too and it's all so good. I work with a lady that has dementia and doesnt remember much but she will ask for herfys by name still. I'm not a fish person but she always wants their fish and chips. The serving will easily give her 3 meals if not 4 so you definitely get your money's worth. I have to say first that the quality and flavor of the beef they use is probably one of the best Ive had. It beats Red Robin and any other burger place Ive been to. The meat is delicious and is so flavorfull like a good steak. The seafood is also really very good with a nice variety to choose from. The shakes and sides are well ...just WOW! Overall, The menu options are fabulous. The portions are perfect and filling. You just cant go wrong.. The employees are so helpful and will kindly answer any questions and help with suggestions as well. The ambiance is welcoming. The decor is charming to include the hand lettered menu that is a special touch. Plenty of seating for everyone. And if nothing else get yourself one of their soft serve ice cream cones. No one can beat theirs for portion size and its so yummy lol. When you compare their prices to some of the fast food joints. Their prices arent bad at all especially for the quality & delicious food. Clean! Good food! Friendly atmosphere! I moved to Downtown Auburn in September this year. I've eaten at the Cow and Cod several times since then. Each time it's been better than the last time. Looked like a burger with nothing but lettuce, and it was cold. Also paid for fry sauce that didn't get added. One of the bigger Herfys I've been too so far. This was a nice find in the area. Plenty of parking and easy to find being right off the main road. Their menu has a lot of options, mostly fast food style pickings here so health nuts beware. Fried goodies such as chicken strips/nuggets, fish, and I'm pretty sure they have clam strips as well. Nice selection of burgers and sides as well. Their burgers are sold separately but they offer to make it a combo with fries and a drink. Nice to have some other sides to choose from too like fried zucchini and mushrooms is a nice touch. The ranch is thicker then I usually prefer but honestly it worked perfectly with the zucchini and if it was thinner it would not have been as good. They know what they are doing here. Don't let the iffy views sway you, give them a chance. All businesses can have a bad day but I think the quality of our food showed that they care about what they are doing here. This is the first time eating here, it was Herfys when we moved away. I saw they still had the Farmer burger with the egg on it, my go to burger. It looked great, better than when it was Herfys. Unfortunately, my experiences with this restaurant have not been great. Typically 9 out of 10 times my to go order is either incorrect or something we ordered is not there or even on the receipt. God only knows why my family is eager to visit them so often. I suggest that if you have a to go order do it on line (without any modifications) . We just discovered this place, and have been three times. We rate their burgers as better than Dicks, and not quite as good as Burger King (but without the long wait). The chips are krinkle cut, but good. Service is fairly quick and friendly. Prices are good. We haven't tried the cod yet, or the chicken. Fried zucchini was done to perfection; couldn't have been any better. Cod was expertly battered and juicy. Handmade milk shakes were thick and full of flavor; by far, the best Blackberry shake I've ever eaten. The Hawaiian grilled chicken sandwich was cooked just right, and delicious with a fresh pineapple. The dining area was very clean, open air, and plenty of seating options. The location is perfect located off the freeway for a hop in while going to/from SeaTac or a quick local stop; there's even a drive-thru for take out.
