I love this location of Jacks in Algona. It is on a side road next to Hwy 167 but is in a semi-isolated area that feels more like you are in a rural area than in a big city. I stopped in here while in the area as I couldn't resist having a need to consume the mouthwatering pulled pork and chili. I could live on this stuff. Great service at the bar and nice decor. I had a great pulled pork sandwich with a side of the chili and large piece of honeyed cornbread which was super delicious. All this was washed down with a can of Vitamin R. Service, beverage variety, and food were inconsistent during our recent Sunday afternoon visit. Jack's is usually more reliable, but requested "moist" meaning the point (fatty tender) but received lean flat that needed a knife to cut. Jack's serve brisket "Deckle-off" trimmed too deeply removing the natural "fat cap" that BBQ fans love. I know it's Seattle and not Austin, Texas - but I'm looking for the promised Texas vibe and not BBQ with all the flavorful fat cut off - at least let us request Texas-style for us native Texans. Only one forgetable rye available for an Old Fashioned cocktail. I expect a Texas bar to stock a few premium options like WhistlePig & Sazerac 6 year, or at least Nickel Rye as the well rye. read more

We love Jacks. Great menu selection. Restaurant is nice and spacious and clean. Restrooms (both men's and women's) need attention to. Toilets are consistently broken- not flushable. We usually dine in during lunch time. Service is friendly but very slow. Not sure why they only have 1 server for the restaurant during lunch, but whatever. We are not on a time constraint so no biggie for us. Food usually comes out pretty quick after our order is placed. Kid friendly. read more

This is coming from a Texan who knows good TX BBQ and is not a place to order burnt ends, but it is Better than expected on Washington. I had to give there actual bbq plate a try I know prepped their meat, and I put them at a disadvantage ordering the burnt end but I did order wagyu which has more marbling but it was still dryer than it should be. It still wasn't bad and they have a good jalapeno bbq sauce. I'd cut them some slack for brisket but the big disappointment was the mac and cheese. They cook there noodles and then add there queso which sounds good, except the noodles where dry and not properly coated in the queso. I would still give the dish a 7 out of 10 because of the sausage and the best brussels sprouts was the saving grace. I've been here a few times always gettin sat at the bar and the service is probably the biggest issue. The bartenders are nice but it can take a bit of time to get service. read more

Pulled pork was all fat, looks like it was not low and slow to allow the fat to render out and do it's magic. Also the pork had no flavor like not seasoned even salt and pepper would have been good. The greens were way over cooked and too smoky like liquid smoke was used to give it that smoked flavor. Banana Pudding should have pudding and vanilla wafers, it was more wiped banana, banana chunks and no wafers. $12 for cobbler for 2? Yet my serving was flat and unimpressive. We stopped by Jack's BBQ on our way to a concert at White River, and it was the perfect pre-show spot. The place was buzzing--super busy and loud, but in a way that felt alive, not overwhelming. The open layout and steady stream of Texas country music gave it a laid-back, honky-tonk vibe we really enjoyed. My family had dinner last night. I got the smoked sweet tea and they all got lemonade. For our entrees we all got something different. We ordered a burger (juicy and had a great sauce) was paired with the sweet corn pudding as the side but didn't particularly love it. The Trifecta plate (Ribs, brisket and 2 hot links along with coleslaw and cornbread) there wasn't one morsel of food left on the plate! The 16 oz Ribeye with potato salad and cornbread and the meat was amazing and cooked to absolute perfection and I had the Wedge. I have to say it's my new favorite I can't wait to go back often for their daily specials. All sound amazing! Man good things really do come to an end! Started dining at Jacks BBQ when it was one location in the industrial belly of Seattle. Now it's a larger than life BBQ joint with many locations. Now the great BBQ places in Texas have 1 single location and do it 100% the Texas way. Which brings me to my issue. So I saw the Seattle Times article on JACKS BBQ having ribeye steaks. Based on my love of the rib eye I came in for lunch. I awaited with anticipation for my meal to be placed upon my table. The moment arrived and I grabbed my knife and fork and started to carve. My waiter should have brought a chainsaw cause the meat was TOUGH! Yes, I said tough like leather ugh. Now I noticed the fat was hard and not jelly like which was strange but then I tasted this flesh and it was cold and tough. Rib eye's if cooked correctly burst with flavor and easy chewing. I was blown away they served a cold smoked steak. Damn ya could have noted meat is served cold in menu vs serve me a $40 piece cold meat. Now I'm disgusted but I lie to the waiter that it was all good. Just needed my bill and leave. So I'll pull out CASH and the waiter goes we don't take cash! Are you kidding me like I want another reminder I dined on a horrible steak experience on my billing statement. We came here for lunch on a Sunday and there was plenty of seating. We ordered a double trouble with brisket and ribs, with sides of chili and mac & cheese. We also asked for all the fixings. The brisket was pretty good but some parts seemed a bit tough. We really enjoyed the ribs - they were flavorful and tender. The chili was delicious with meat and the sour cream and cheese helped balance the flavor - definitely better chilis we've had at other place. The mac and cheese also had a nice kick to it and wasn't plain. The fixings were nice, although the onion didn't seem really pickled and we would've liked if our breads were toasted. We were so pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered was genuinely delicious, way better than we expected! We got the New York steak, the Caesar salad topped with brisket, and their peach cobbler with ice cream. The brisket was smoky and tender, the steak was juicy, and the cobbler was warm, gooey, and perfect with the ice cream on top. Truly comfort food done right. It wasn't too busy when we came in, which made the experience even nicer, clean and not too loud. It comes with all the meat with 4 sides. While we were impressed with the ribs and pulled pork, the brisket was quite dry. I enjoyed the sides a lot especially the corn pudding. Service: The server was attentive and offered great suggestions. Ambiance: The restaurant plays country music with Texas themed decor. I almost thought that I am in TX for a second! We wanted to try a new spot and this place popped up. They were doing a BBQ Class on the Saturday we visited. The parking lot was pretty full, but ample seating inside. First off... every employee we spoke to was so friendly. Especially our server. The Hushpuppies were pretty good, they have a little jalapeño in them but my spice intolerant friend was fine with them. The brisket sandwich was fine, I'm used to a smokier brisket but it was super tender. The sides though... that queso Mac and cheese was my favorite thing I ate. Very good barbecue. They gave us a bottle of water and glasses when we sat down. They quickly delivered the beer that we ordered from the tap. The beer was excellent. I ordered the barbecued chicken with Mexican style corn and mashed potatoes. The chicken was very flavorful and moist. Overall, my meal was very very good. My wife had a barbecued pork rib with cornbread and coleslaw. Everything was great. I think the only negative we experienced was that it was hot inside the restaurant. We were there about 1 PM on a very warm summer day. It would've been nice if it had been a little bit cooler inside. But overall, the meal and service was very good. read more

I have been working with the team at Jack's in Algona for the last year and a half. Very few restaurants open as early as they do which makes them a great partner to have when you're trying to feed teams of people early in the morning and don't want fast food. Jackie met me with a big."Hi Mike, your order is ready!" right when I walked in the door this morning. The impressive thing is it wasn't three breakfast tacos and a cup of coffee, it was 175 breakfast tacos! She and her team had the tacos, hot and ready and in my truck within five minutes. The food is always excellent! Jackie and the rest of the team are always a pleasure to work with. The restaurant itself is always clean and the ambience is so fun. Jack's BBQ has been a lifesaver for me and today was no different. I highly recommend this location if you have early morning breakfasts. Stopped in for the advertised "Breakfast Tacos" and received poor customer service by a bartender who I sensed didn't feel like being at work. Entered the establishment at 9:55am. Upon entering I made eye contact with 2 employees who were having a conversation at the bar. First some history, I grew up in Texas, where my grandmother lived in Elgin. Elgin was already on the map because of the Southside market in downtown. The favorite part of my trip to see my grandmother was the promise that I would get my sausage. I grew up calling them "Hot guts" served on butcher paper with ketchup and crackers and who needed anything else? When this Yelp suggestion came up, I was intrigued. Was it possible that in Washington state I could get southside market sausage???? *Now now the review: Sausages offered were jalapeño and cheese, and a choice even spicier-so I didn't even bother. I did try their brisket and the ribs. The ribs had a good flavor. They were obviously smoked, but for some reason, the meat was very hard to chew-not my favorite. . The brisket had one slice lean and one slice moist. Let's just say the moist side was 80% fat. I understand moist" means more fat,but that's a lot of fat! The taste was good meat was tender, But not remarkable. The best food I got were the sides; collard greens that were meaty and macaroni and cheese that was plentiful and flavored with something similar to rotelle. What a great find near the outlet mall. Stopped in not really knowing what to expect and found a classic Texas Roadhouse purveyor of smoked deliciousness. Tried the chili on Fritos for an app and it was a huge amount of chili on some Fritos and is spectacular. No wasted space with beans. Just all meat chili! The salad topped with brisket was wonderful and the plate of 3 smoked meats was fantastic (brisket, sausage, and ribs were my choice) with a spicy margarita. When we got home and I was able to Google Jack's BBQ, I was surprised to find out it wasn't a one-off restaurant. This is a chain? WOW! The food was outstanding! I'm not much of a sausage eater but both the offerings were top shelf! The Brisket was to die for and the pork ribs were excellent! Even the Mac-n-cheese was off the charts. If you can get there, don't forget to try their greens too. The staff was very personable and seemed to actually like us! Weird! They sent us out the door with a portion of their peach cobbler with ice cream and unfortunately, we were unable to eat it until we got home over 4 hours later (even longer story). The ice cream was half melted and the cobbler was cold but you'd have never known the way we gobbled it down! We live over 3 hours away from this location but it is now a destination for us. The service at Jack's was very accommodating when I visited with my sister recently after a trip to The Old Cannery furniture store. The brisket was comparible to mine without the hours of smoking and cooking it on my own Treager. All the sides were yummy including the corn pudding which was phenomenal. The next time I'm in the area, I'm definately stopping for more. There was plenty of parking with a very relaxed vibe in the restaurant. This review is only for their breakfast/brunch menu. We tried the brisket breakfast tacos and the chicken fried steak. The brisket breakfast tacos came with scrambled eggs, cheese, potatoes, and brisket. The tacos were delicious and the flour tortilla was very soft. The brisket was perfectly smokey and still juicy. Tastes great with the salsa and even better with the smoked jalapeño bbq sauce. The chicken fried steak, however, was a different story. The fried steak itself was tough and had a lot of gristle. It was fried and seasoned nicely but very chewy and some of it was just inedible. The gravy was nothing special, tasted like a generic white country gravy that comes from a can or powder. The biscuit were buttery and fluffy with some sweetness. The dish also came with a side of cheesy "taters" which basically tasted like a warm potato salad and was not very good. Who wants to eat warm mayo potato salad for breakfast anyways? Didn't seem like it belonged on their breakfast menu. All in all, this place makes some seriously good bbq meats but breakfast is clearly not their strength. Other than that, service was pleasant and prompt. The interior of the restaurant is classic texas style smokehouse and always smells amazing. It's pretty pricey, with the fried steak costing $24 and the tacos cost $5.50 each. I would come back for the brisket tacos, but I have had better chicken fried steak at Denny's, which is very sad to say. I'd just stick to their dinner menu. 3/5 star rating for breakfast. read more

The food was horrible. They coat their steaks in a rub that overpowers the beef. Medium rare steaks arrived with warm grey middles. The brisket had to be cut rather than falling apart. I've driven past Jack's BBQ countless times on my way to work, but never felt compelled to stop in--that is, until a friend recommended it. I'm glad I finally gave it a try! I went with a friend, and the food was delicious. I ordered the brisket and potato salad, both of which were excellent. We also decided to share the hush puppies, but that's where things went slightly downhill and cost them a star. The hush puppies are made with jalapeños, which neither of us enjoys. We ordered them without checking the menu first, only to discover--after they arrived--that jalapeños are a standard ingredient with no option to order them without. I guess the restaurant doesn't realize that not everyone likes or can tolerate the heat. We also noticed that even the mac and cheese contains jalapeños. My overall experience would have been excellent if I hadn't had the lingering taste of jalapeños in my mouth. Despite this hiccup, the quality of the main dishes was good, and I'd recommend Jack's--just be aware that jalapeños seem to be a signature ingredient in many of their sides with no customization options, so choose your sides carefully if you're not a fan of spicy food. read more

I was driving from Portland to Seattle, and I saw a sign for Jack's, and I frequented the restaurant in SoDo for several years as we lived in West Seattle. The food was phenomenal, and Trinity the server was excellent. The pulled pork sandwich was so tasty. The sweet corn pudding is also the best My only issue was that I took some food to go as I thought it would be a great dinner. There was no silverware or napkins added to the bags, and I was not asked if I would like any. They ask every once in a while why he doesn't bring them anymore. Well, Jack's doesn't offer them anymore. They were great though. On this visit, we dined in with some friends.
