This was my first time coming and trying the food, it was great! We got sat down fairly quick and they got our order as soon as possible too. It was a packed house so the service was on point! I love the ambiance of the place it really seemed like your somewhere in the Midwest, made me want to wear my boots! But overall the food was great as well, though I couldn't finish everything right away I'll definitely come back again!
I love this location of Jacks in Algona. It is on a side road next to Hwy 167 but is in a semi-isolated area that feels more like you are in a rural area than in a big city. I stopped in here while in the area as I couldn't resist having a need to consume the mouthwatering pulled pork and chili. I could live on this stuff. Great service at the bar and nice decor. I had a great pulled pork sandwich with a side of the chili and large piece of honeyed cornbread which was super delicious. All this was washed down with a can of Vitamin R. Superb meal and everything was great. You guys rock!
This place was amazing! Definitely could become a regular here! They had so many unique and fun choices on their menu, with things like Frito pie! The waiters and waitresses were extremely friendly and fast. Inside had a cool rustic but modern feel at the same time.
Pulled pork was all fat, looks like it was not low and slow to allow the fat to render out and do it's magic. Also the pork had no flavor like not seasoned even salt and pepper would have been good. The greens were way over cooked and too smoky like liquid smoke was used to give it that smoked flavor. Banana Pudding should have pudding and vanilla wafers, it was more wiped banana, banana chunks and no wafers. $12 for cobbler for 2? Yet my serving was flat and unimpressive. This meal was not worth $80+ Service was good and the atmosphere is a solid casual experience.
I placed an order online, I came about 30 mins early to pick up but the worker was like we will get that order ready for you. His service was very nice and efficient. The restaurant is very clean and such a good vibe! Let alone the food is great. My husband works at Boeing near by and always order lunch from here. I would definitely order again. Haven't been disappointed yet.
We stopped by Jack's BBQ on our way to a concert at White River, and it was the perfect pre-show spot. The place was buzzing--super busy and loud, but in a way that felt alive, not overwhelming. The open layout and steady stream of Texas country music gave it a laid-back, honky-tonk vibe we really enjoyed. Our server was awesome--totally chill, walked us through the different meats and how they're smoked. There was a small mix-up with my drink, but he fixed it quickly and without any fuss. Big points for great service! Food-wise, they nailed it. My son went with the pulled pork sandwich and a side of seasoned corn on the cob, and I had the chopped brisket sandwich with Texas caviar (a tasty black-eyed pea salad) on the side. Everything was moist, flavorful, and clearly made with care--exactly what you hope for in good BBQ. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and craving some smoky, Southern-style comfort food.
This is coming from a Texan who knows good TX BBQ and is not a place to order burnt ends, but it is Better than expected on Washington. I had to give there actual bbq plate a try I know prepped their meat, and I put them at a disadvantage ordering the burnt end but I did order wagyu which has more marbling but it was still dryer than it should be. It still wasn't bad and they have a good jalapeno bbq sauce. I'd cut them some slack for brisket but the big disappointment was the mac and cheese. They cook there noodles and then add there queso which sounds good, except the noodles where dry and not properly coated in the queso. I would still give the dish a 7 out of 10 because of the sausage and the best brussels sprouts was the saving grace. I've been here a few times always gettin sat at the bar and the service is probably the biggest issue. The bartenders are nice but it can take a bit of time to get service.
Man good things really do come to an end! Started dining at Jacks BBQ when it was one location in the industrial belly of Seattle. Now it's a larger than life BBQ joint with many locations. Now the great BBQ places in Texas have 1 single location and do it 100% the Texas way. Which brings me to my issue. So I saw the Seattle Times article on JACKS BBQ having ribeye steaks. Based on my love of the rib eye I came in for lunch. I awaited with anticipation for my meal to be placed upon my table. The moment arrived and I grabbed my knife and fork and started to carve. My waiter should have brought a chainsaw cause the meat was TOUGH! Yes, I said tough like leather ugh. Now I noticed the fat was hard and not jelly like which was strange but then I tasted this flesh and it was cold and tough. Rib eye's if cooked correctly burst with flavor and easy chewing. I was blown away they served a cold smoked steak. Damn ya could have noted meat is served cold in menu vs serve me a $40 piece cold meat. Now I'm disgusted but I lie to the waiter that it was all good. Just needed my bill and leave. So I'll pull out CASH and the waiter goes we don't take cash! Are you kidding me like I want another reminder I dined on a horrible steak experience on my billing statement. My advice is stick to BBQ and remove half that menu and go back to slow & low cooking meats. When ya started I loved this place but now I'M GIVING YOU THE FINGER! My family had dinner last night. I got the smoked sweet tea and they all got lemonade. For our entrees we all got something different. We ordered a burger (juicy and had a great sauce) was paired with the sweet corn pudding as the side but didn't particularly love it. The Trifecta plate (Ribs, brisket and 2 hot links along with coleslaw and cornbread) there wasn't one morsel of food left on the plate! The 16 oz Ribeye with potato salad and cornbread and the meat was amazing and cooked to absolute perfection and I had the Wedge. I have to say it's my new favorite I can't wait to go back often for their daily specials. All sound amazing! Oh, I also need to try desserts (good selection of southern favorites). 10 outta 10!!!

We also got the Spicy Caesar with chicken. Huge portion and tasted great, but would just get the starter salad size next time. Ended with the Peach Cobbler, nothing special there Overall, great time, just a little disappointing because of the dry brisket
We came here for lunch on a Sunday and there was plenty of seating. We ordered a double trouble with brisket and ribs, with sides of chili and mac & cheese. We also asked for all the fixings. The brisket was pretty good but some parts seemed a bit tough. We really enjoyed the ribs - they were flavorful and tender. The chili was delicious with meat and the sour cream and cheese helped balance the flavor - definitely better chilis we've had at other place. The mac and cheese also had a nice kick to it and wasn't plain. The fixings were nice, although the onion didn't seem really pickled and we would've liked if our breads were toasted. Otherwise, it was yummy and we'd be happy to come again!

Best bbq I've had in a while!! Texas style. Simple and delicious. The pic: Sliced brisket (lean) and pork ribs. Side of Mac and corn bread. Pulled pork and pork ribs. Side of ranch beans and corn bread. Chop salad (altered- no blue sub cheddar and green goddess dressing) Basket of fixins to go along with it! You gotta try the corn bread. Service, beverage variety, and food were inconsistent during our recent Sunday afternoon visit. Jack's is usually more reliable, but requested "moist" meaning the point (fatty tender) but received lean flat that needed a knife to cut. Jack's serve brisket "Deckle-off" trimmed too deeply removing the natural "fat cap" that BBQ fans love. I know it's Seattle and not Austin, Texas - but I'm looking for the promised Texas vibe and not BBQ with all the flavorful fat cut off - at least let us request Texas-style for us native Texans. Only one forgetable rye available for an Old Fashioned cocktail. I expect a Texas bar to stock a few premium options like WhistlePig & Sazerac 6 year, or at least Nickel Rye as the well rye. read more
Great place to get your BBQ fix! My office has ordered from here a few times and we always enjoy everything. The cashiers are always friendly and helpful! The place is pretty big but I've never dined in. My favorite is the cat fish and brisket. Def note that bbq is expensive, so be prepared to spend a nice penny for a smaller portion than you think you're getting. But it will be good at least lol read more

Went to the Algona location about 5:30ish last Sunday. Not to busy yet. The restaurant is wide open with couple booths on one side. We sat at the bar (open sitting) and had a cocktail while we browsed the menu. What brought us there was the March meat madness and that was definitely NOT a bad decision... read more
First visit to Jack's BBQ on a Sunday evening. Unfortunately, lots of their items were out, which prompted another trip after a few days. Food: We ordered the Picnic. It comes with all the meat with 4 sides. While we were impressed with the ribs and pulled pork, the brisket was quite dry. I enjoyed the sides a lot especially the corn pudding. Service: The server was attentive and offered great suggestions. Ambiance: The restaurant plays country music with Texas themed decor. I almost thought that I am in TX for a second! I would recommend getting their BBQ meat earlier of the day while it's fresh, so the heat lamp doesn't dry up the meat. read more
We were so pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered was genuinely delicious, way better than we expected! We got the New York steak, the Caesar salad topped with brisket, and their peach cobbler with ice cream. The brisket was smoky and tender, the steak was juicy, and the cobbler was warm, gooey, and perfect with the ice cream on top. Truly comfort food done right. It wasn't too busy when we came in, which made the experience even nicer, clean and not too loud. The only sad part was that the "special of the night" tacos were already gone... apparently they sell out fast! Next time we're coming earlier. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get, and the staff was honestly wonderful, friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the second we walked in. Overall, a great experience. We wanted to try a new spot and this place popped up. They were doing a BBQ Class on the Saturday we visited. The parking lot was pretty full, but ample seating inside. First off... every employee we spoke to was so friendly. Especially our server. The Hushpuppies were pretty good, they have a little jalapeño in them but my spice intolerant friend was fine with them. The brisket sandwich was fine, I'm used to a smokier brisket but it was super tender. The sides though... that queso Mac and cheese was my favorite thing I ate. My friend got a steak and that thing was delicious, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. We've already decided we will be coming back. read more

Very good barbecue. They gave us a bottle of water and glasses when we sat down. They quickly delivered the beer that we ordered from the tap. The beer was excellent. I ordered the barbecued chicken with Mexican style corn and mashed potatoes. The chicken was very flavorful and moist. Overall, my meal was very very good. My wife had a barbecued pork rib with cornbread and coleslaw. Everything was great. I think the only negative we experienced was that it was hot inside the restaurant. We were there about 1 PM on a very warm summer day. It would've been nice if it had been a little bit cooler inside. But overall, the meal and service was very good. read more

Second time rating. Jacks BBQ is good food, good vibe inside but mostly very very good with thier staff. Sit in the bar. They got the vets up there working and they are the nicest people. Shelby our server was awesome, super hospitable, had to reason to be as chipper as she was on a friday evening before close. Check this place out for the food, stay for the servers. I am not a avid yelper but when I get good service and I know people are valuing my hard earned American dolla, I appreciate that. Clean bathrooms btw. read more

Want food that's filling and delicious? Passed by a couple times on my drive; First look at the restaurant it looked crazy to me with the cows and all. My spouse and I decided to look at Yelp reviews for a restaurant and remember this local spot we always see. We decided to give it a shot when we were hungry and it was pouring that day! The food here is affordable and the service is good. Meats perfectly smoked and seasoned. Everything's smoked in house and they allow you to go check out their smokers too. The sides were delicious especially the garlic mash potato and Mac and cheese. The brisket was so tender which was a personal fav; but can do without the chicken. Best appetizer choice was the fried jalapeño! Super delicious with everything good; not spicy at all. read more
The service at Jack's was very accommodating when I visited with my sister recently after a trip to The Old Cannery furniture store. The brisket was comparible to mine without the hours of smoking and cooking it on my own Treager. All the sides were yummy including the corn pudding which was phenomenal. The next time I'm in the area, I'm definately stopping for more. There was plenty of parking with a very relaxed vibe in the restaurant. I enjoy eating great food at place not trying to cycle their customers through. If you want some yummy BBQ in a laid back place where you can enjoy your BBQ and visit, Jack's is the place in Algona. read more

Brunch at Jacks BBQ. This is something new for them! I've been here for dinner a couple of times and their BBQ offerings are impressive and are delicious! The Brisket-In-A-Biscuit was awesome. It had jelly that was spicy but not too much and I really liked that surprise! Our waitstaff was not so good or flexible. We had a table of 10 and they were inflexible about ordering or folks moving around the table. I found that odd and not a good experience as far as the customer perspective. I asked for cream for my 2nd cup of coffee (single serve and only 1 per cup were provided). By the time I actually got creamer for my 2nd cup, my coffee was cold (over 15 mins to get the creamer). Sorry, but hot coffee with creamer is important to me. I overlooked the service because the brunch is something new. The food more than made up for the service. I highly recommend Jacks BBQ. Some of the best BBQ I've had. Stop by and try it out! read more

Last night, I was lured to #algonawa to try out a #texasbbq restaurant. I will say - the theme was definitely #austintexas, but the food was not. I'm an #austintexasnative, and nothing can or ever will compare to #lowandslow #bbq. This was the typical commercial #leanbrisket. The #pnw passes off as #bbq, and because I've consistently been #bamboozled here in the #seattle area with this, I knew what to expect going in so I was settled to the fact of the taste. The flavors were there with the whole BBQ theme. But, not what I grew up knowing & loving. : Jacks BBQ & Steakhouse 35731 W Valley Hwy S, Algona : Brisket BBQ Plate - Brisket + 2 sides (in their defense the meat did pull apart and was tender - I did get a piece of all fat & sent it back & it was replaced quickly) I had the queso Mac n Cheese & Mustard potato salad which was heavy on the Mayo & almost a soup consistency. : The Texas Trinity + 2 sides - I asked for Brisket burnt ends (i love a good charred meat, but this was just the thick seasoning no real char), sausage (delicious) & ribs - pulled right apart. I had the buttermilk Cornbread (kinda tough, cooked hard) & the sweet corn pudding (kinda felt like the end of the night/pan scraps - kinda burnt) : I'd ordered a slice of Peach Cobbler but it was sold out by the time it was dessert serving so I was offered an option of pecan pie or chocolate buttermilk pie - I chose the pecan (it reminded me of a turtles bar which I was happy with - heavy on the pecans). Which was on the house, thank you. I would give them a 6/10. Just because of the commercial BBQ flavor. If you go anywhere in Austin you'll know this is vastly different. But, meets the needs for a BBQ fix. Thank you! Is there a kids menu?
Don't believe they have a kids menu. Might be separate. However the service staff is excellent and would make anything you want. Worst meal I've had was medium magnificent!! My go to place!
