Without fully reading it I saw an estimate of just over $300 and signed off but when completed it came to over $1000. After again looking at his estimate it clearly stated a $700+ for the transmission and the $300+ for differential maintenance. David went above and beyond with management to reduce the total to the $300+ that I originally thought and refund the difference! The buying process was great until 3 days later when it started leaking radiator fluid i was told it was a rock that hit the radiator which i still don't believe i never heard a rock it hit the car period . I dropped it of thinking i would hear head an update i had to keep texting my salesman to get an update . I finally just had to show up ask the service department if it was ready they asked me if sales told me whats going on they I told them no.He said all I need is the approal .I They said I would have to pay couldn't use warranty. Which was important to be communicated but never was . What's the use of the warranty , Had to damn near beg for a loaner they kept saying was a month long waiting list , I had to ask if they could at least give a discount for the mis communication , they took off 300 so I was still stuck with a 900 bill for a car I had only 3 days then all of a sudden once I had to agree that I guess I have to pay then loaner car was avaliable . I wish I could give y'all zero stars. We were forced to take our 2023 suburban here because of our warranty. We took it here last month May 2026 because every time I turned the wheel it made a horrible sound. We were clear when we talked to Richie about what we were experiencing over $3000 later and it's not fixed. We were told that they went through a whole diagnostic to find what was wrong with it. Instead, they charged us for a whole bunch of random crap to equal $3000 and the problem wasn't solved. We had to take it in less than a month later because it was even worse than when we originally took it in. And now all of a sudden, our warranty is gonna cover it. Sounds like they're trying to save their butt from a lawsuit. They still have my vehicle two weeks later. So they've had my vehicle for over a month total because they had it over two weeks the first time and now they have it for over two weeks this time. If you can go somewhere else so whatever issue you're having actually gets fixed and you're not charged $3000 for problems your vehicle never even had. read more

Decades Old Customer Double Crossed! Do not recommend Covert family dealerships. Despite decades of loyal patronage, Chevrolet of Bastrop traded in good customer service for crooked business practices. They sold the vehicle I was purchasing while I was completing the paperwork to finalize the sale -- providing no communication, resolution, or assistance. On Monday, February 10th, 2025, my parents visited the dealership for a test drive and vehicle examination while I was at work(2hrs away). We had found our match and the sales representative was "holding onto the keys for me" until I could get there, again I was 2 hours away. They were clearly aware I was coming to complete the sale and sign for the car; they even greeted me with jingling keys in expectation. After a brief test drive, I began the contract paperwork, excited for my new car. As I was completing the contract and paperwork, a representative tells me that the car had been sold. They stood around and offered empty "we will make this right promises"and still haven't reached out to make it right. I'm carless and devastated. The night of the sale, I arrived home at midnight with nothing other than wasted time. I expected better from a known dealership; my family purchased multiple vehicles from them over the years, (even two new trucks from them just last year) and we really hoped our loyalty would help us reach a resolution. I just wanted to be their customer -- the feeling wasn't mutual Unfortunately, my parents faced a similar experience when purchasing a truck last year at the Bee Caves location. The Covert dealerships have abandoned customer service and instead offer an environment of competition and sales pressure, pushing you to sign and buy before someone steals the car from under you. I wanted to give them my business. I tried to give them my business. They double sold cars and left me hanging. Their Manager "swore" he would make it right. I'm still waiting. It's been crickets since. What is even more crazy, is that on Feb. 15th (still not having heard from anyone) my mother received a text message from Covert wanting to "continue" discussion of purchasing the exact same car they had already sold, the one I went to purchase! BAD CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE!!! This car buying experience was highly substandard from customer service to gaslighting on purchasing terms as they kept trying to get me to purchase aftermarket items which I said no to on 3 occasions. 1. Arrived at dealership and was greeted by the sales representative who was pleasant and helpful. 2. We test drove the car and I heard rubbing and grinding at the rear end of vehicle while taking turns and noted when pulling off the clutch the car would jump or bolt forward while in neutral (standard transmission). 3. They engaged the sales manager who acknowledged the issues and stated, give him a day to resolve the issues so I went ahead in good faith and completed the loan application with their finance manager. 4. I received a follow-up call from the sales representative the following day around noonish, and she conveyed it had been raining so they could not diagnose the car issues. I asked if they had car stalls to work on cars for diagnosis and maintenance purposes and she acknowledged they did, I did not pursue any further questions as I decided to wait until the end of day to make my last query. 5. I called back at 4PM and queried about the vehicle and they conveyed no progress had been made due to rain, so I let them know I was opting out of the purchase. At that point my faith in purchasing a sound vehicle was diminished, 6. I called back a couple of days later to speak with the finance manager to ensure the loan application I completed was cancelled since I decided not to purchase the car. I spoke with the finance manager personally and he conveyed he would cancel the loan application with the bank. 7. I lost all faith in this organization concerning customer service, so I decided to follow up with the bank they used to secure my loan and found that the application was not cancelled as promised. Thank goodness for their poor customer service which prompted me to follow up with the bank myself. 8. After learning the application was not cancelled and still active, I called the finance manager again and found he was not available (my fortune) so asked for another finance representative. He cancelled the loan application and called me back a few minutes later with the acknowledgement, great job by this rep. han In closing I would not recommend this car dealership at all. read more

This is a review of the service center. I have bought 5 vehicles through Covert dealerships but have never purchased one here. I have a 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate. Oct 2024 the AC begin having problems, then went completely out, blowing hot air. I called early Nov and they said they couldn't get me in until Dec 31st, since I needed a loaner vehicle. Drop off day comes, they give me a Silverado Truck and I explain what was going on. My husband purchased an extended warranty at the time of the vehicle purchase, so I provided them with all that information. A few days after dropping off, the service advisor calls and asks for approval to run diagnostics because if they can't find a problem, they can't file an insurance claim and I would have to pay for it. I laughed and said yes, do diagnostics, there's no AC, obviously there is a problem. Plan was to drain Freon, add dye and recharge AC so they could find the leak. Week 2, he checks in and says they can't find a leak, and they're waiting on a part to fix another issue, they'll keep checking. Week 3, still waiting on part, can't find a leak. Also, by this time, we had driven past the service center and seen my truck sitting in the back of the parking lot multiple times. Week 4, my GM app keeps alerting me that my battery is in critical condition. My husband goes there to talk to the service advisor and find out what the heck is going on, and is basically brushed off, nothing he says makes any sense. The service advisor also lets us know, since its cold outside, they can't really run the AC to test it. *insert eye roll* Week 5, my husband does his own research and finds online bulletins and articles about my exact problem being an issue for so many other people, go figure!! He also finds out what part is the common denominator. He goes back to speak with the service advisor, escalates to management and TELLS THEM HOW TO FIX MY TRUCK. They happen to have one in stock, YAY! Week 6, the service advisor calls and says my battery is dead and they need to replace it, for $400. Hahahaha!! After my husband already told the management about the battery notifications we were getting. So they drained my battery and then tried to sell me a new one, a 2-year-old battery. We take the battery and charge it, do a load test, and battery checks out perfectly fine! Week 6 1/2 I finally get a call my truck is done. I pick it up, the AC works, awesome. But they couldn't even do a quick wash or clean up. Let it sit out in the rain, even a little snow, and the crazy weather we had, but couldn't bother to have their porter do a quick wash. The windshield was so smeared and dirty inside, I couldn't see out of it while driving at night. Overall a TERRIBLE service experience!! Don't use their service center, keep driving and go to the Covert on Research. I would never go back there again. And I wouldn't advise anyone I know to trust their knowledge and expertise, because there is none. read more

Recently serviced my wife's Traverse. Basic oil change, tire rotation. Despite enough negative reviews I thought I'd give Covert a chance. Well yesterday I realized the windscreen washers didn't work. They worked find before I took the car in. I could hear the pump but nothing was coming out of the jets. I opened the hood and lo and behold. The windscreen washer reservoir's cap is missing. So this means, that during the service, somehow the system stopped working, and someone checked the windscreen washer, realized it didn't work, checked the reservoir, noticed it was full and then lost the cap. Didn't both replacing it but just decided meh, closed the hood with an obviously missing reservoir cap, and then just decided to not say anything about it. WTF. Where is the quality control?!? Hello does no one check maintenance work? It's about as obvious as you can get when you open the hood that there is a missing cap. Piss poor Covert. I'm not even calling because I'm not interested in coming back. I'm pissed. read more

Today they are dropping off my 3rd loaner truck even though he says my truck "should" be finished tomorrow which I know it won't be if they are giving me another loaner. I still cannot get an accurate update from Peter the service rep we are working with. He has said the tech has fixed the issue and just needed to put the transmission back together and into the truck...which he has been saying for MONTHS. Dropped the car off at 12:00 noon on 07/23/15 for safety recalls (13036) and (14152) I called back at 4:59 Mickey said he did not know if it was ready but that he would call me right back at 5:27 he said the car was ready my son and I picked it up, he drove home, loaded up, and made it to Waco, TX. My son called me and said he could not put it in park or get the key out. I borrowed my neighbors trailer drove to Waco it was dark so I just loaded up the car strapped it down and drove home Mickey had called and said that the technician thought he: at first he started to say misplaced but then changed it to, left a clip out and to bring the car back but not to worry it would be safe to drive when I opened the hood in the morning to my surprise I found the clip tool that the technician left on top of the trans-axle wedged tightly between the shift cam and transaxle assembly I can tolerate ineptness but I can't tolerate being lied to if the clip was a problem that is the part that affects the recall in the first place, Unsafe! If Mickey was covering up for the technician's mistake of leaving the tool he used under the hood, at my son's expense that won't be tolerated I will take the car to Capital Chevrolet Tuesday morning to check for any damage. Also the under panel was not secured correctly and a nut left out. I won't be answering the phone please make all correspondence by E-Mail. I bought my 4th Suburban from Bastrop Chevy about 18 months ago. I started to hear a rattle and have taken out on 2 different occassions to be fixed. My Suburban sat there for over 10 days and the rattle was never fixed. After driving to West Texas for 6 hours and hearing that rattle and wanting to drive off a cliff, a friend reommended Austin Fuel Injection. This was by far the best car buying experience I've ever had! With the truck shortage I was seeing trucks marked up $30k OVER MSRP...dealer after dealer. This dealership proudly stated that they refused to price gouge and take advantage of people. I was surprised because I expected as much and needed a truck for work. After we had agreed on the initial terms and payment price range the payment came out lower with the extended warranty and all of the bells and whistles! Chris Janes was my Salesmen and a TCU grad so I immediately had a good feeling. He had excellent communication and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. We had an initially positive experience given the free delivery to Houston but it's been a disaster since the drop off. We got a lemon -- brand new cars don't have transmissions that fail 5 times in the first 18 months of ownership -- and Covert could not care less. The problems started at ~2,000 miles and a little over a year later we've been in a small, low quality loaner for almost three months combined given the extensive work done on the transmission. My wife was even stranded on one of the failures 45 miles outside of town and had to navigate a tow truck to another Chevy dealership and uber home to pick up our kids from school in my car. Needless to say, we never received the brand new Tahoe we paid for and are unable to use the unreliable and unsafe Tahoe to be our family car living in the fourth largest city in the country and having to drive our young kids to school and evening / weekend activities. The sick part is that Covert deposited our check the day we wrote it and has shown zero interest in making the situation right since. Heard nothing. I called again at 1:30, and left another message. No return call or text. At 2:30 pm I called to let them know I would be there within the hour to pick up my car because I thought it was unacceptable to make a appointment and not have my car even looked at, nor have any communication from them. What a disappointment! What seemed like it would be an easy virtual transaction (due to COVID), turned into a hassle because our sales representative made promises that he failed to deliver on. We purchased a preowned vehicle and were promised the missing owners manual, spare key fob, and that the small crack in the windshield would be repaired. After mistakenly trusting our sales representative and finalizing the paperwork for the delivery of the vehicle - all of those promises went to you know where. We have made several attempts to contact our sales rep with no success. We also called the sales manager and he promised to settle this issue for us, and he also has not gotten back with us. What upsets me mostly is my father is a senior citizen and I feel he was taken advantage of. There are hundreds of honest, deserving, sales representatives who would have loved to help him find his next vehicle. In an unstable economy like the one we have right now, building and maintaining business through relationships should be a company's primary goal. Unfortunately, someone with no follow-through and little concern for Covert's reputation got to benefit from my father's major purchase. I have never had a good experience with Covert. A few years ago, I took a truck for a recall and had to wait 3 days to get it back... without them fixing the recall. I figured that was a one off. Later I bought a used truck from them. When I got it, 3 tires were all-terrain and one was a road tire. I asked them to put all AT tires on... they tried putting all road tires on, so I said, fine, I'll buy an AT from a tire place. There was also a spot on the windshield that was hit by a rock, the salesman said they would replace the windshield... they would call me back to schedule a time. Never called. The first time I filled up the gas tank, it wouldn't fill because there was an issue in the evap system. It was supposed to be a Certified Used vehicle... I had a recall on that truck... so I took it in and they fixed the recall... but I waited 5 hours. The manager gave me 1 hour of free diagnostic service in exchange. Now... my transmission burned out. I brought it and took advantage of the free diagnostic. They said it would be $7500. I ended up towing it to another shop who is charging me half of that with a warranty. To sum up, after a few years of dealing with Covert, I do not want to do business with them in any capacity and I strongly encourage you to avoid them at all costs. read more

The Covert Bastrop service department sucks. When I purchased my truck from the dealership I included the most expensive warranty plan for the most incompetent service department. when I went to drop off my vehicle on a Monday morning Ritchie told me to just bring it back the following Tuesday and they would diagnose it and perform the repair on the same day since he believed that the problem was just a worn serpentine belt otherwise the truck would just sit parked until that time. My wife dropped it off on Tuesday like he said and they asked if she was going to wait for it which she declined because she had other errands and to call her when it's done. Wednesday comes around and no call so I call Richie and he tells me that it'll be done on Thursday due to labor problems. Thursday comes and goes with no call so Friday morning my wife calls him once again and told him that she's just going to pick up the truck and have someone else fix it. When she arrived he had no explanation, no apologies, and no attempts to make it right. He just told her that someone would bring it around (didn't even have ready to go yet) which took another 30 minutes before the guy could even find it. Long story short - if my last name was Covert I guarantee you that my service department would provide what their name implies, service. Good service will bring customers back when it's time to purchase another vehicle. I'll buy another GM product when the time comes but I will make the drive to Austin or elsewhere before I ever go back Covert Bastrop. read more

Seemingly minor repair to my car took 2 weeks! Good thing that we have an extra vehicle for me to drive, but I suspect that's many of Coverts customers do not. If I was told when I dropped off my vehicle that repairs would take 2 weeks, I would have taken my car elsewhere. I guess that's why they don't tell the customers. Service writer did not set expectations or provide timely updates with regards to the status of my vehicle. Service writer seemed irritated by me when I called to request an update and I got the feeling that they are not allowed to "bother" the technicians with requests for repair status. Also, the multi-point inspection does not provide any details whatsoever. Before I shell out thousands of dollars for car repairs, I expect to get a lot more specifics. This is not the first time this has happened to me at Covert but hopefully, it will be the last time I take any of my vehicles to them. read more

Horrible service. I called to schedule an appointment to get my car diagnosed. It's only 2 years old and the check engine light went on. I was toldI can drop it off and it would be 2-5 DAYS to get it diagnosed, Not fixed Diagnosed. When I asked then if they provide a loaner car since thisis my only mode of transportation I was told that there is a month waiting list and ifI did not buy my car from them they would not provide a loaner. I just moved here from out of state this past year and am being penalized since I bought my car from thestate I was living in at the time. Diagnosing does not take days (I have family memebers that were master technicians for 20 years), this is poor management of time and complete lack of respect of clients time. This impacted me more this week since if I had dropped off my vehicle with no other transportation and if the fires had spread and I had to evacuate I had no way of getting me and my animals to safety, there is no under where I am and since I recently moved here I do not know many people. When I informed the person I was speaking to that I did not have any other transportation they told me I could go to the Toyota dealership down the street they have a sign out right now that they are working on all vehicles. One, this is a warranty issue since my car is less than 2 years old and it needs to be fixed at a Chevy dealership, two if I was management I would be pissed that my people are directing possible clients to another dealership! read more

Ernest was my salesmen and Tim Clark was my finance manager. Both did a great job with the deal. When I went to sign and pick up the QX, I was told the alternator needs to be replaced. I was sent home with a loaner car, and picked up the repaired QX shortly after. After driving the vehicle for less than a week(6 days of light driving), we're experiencing a very loud belt/screeching noise. You don't have to be a mechanic or an expert to know this might be related to the belts/pulleys as a result of their repairs. I would like their shop to look at this and take care of this issue. I don't think I'm being unreasonable and asking them to make the necessary repair. I have emailed Ernest and Chance, the owner for a possibly remedy to this situation. Didn't even purchase a vehicle here, because I had such a sour experience. Of course, I wanted the best deal on a used car I've been very interested in. I found it online, but they will not take the time to put up pictures of the vehicle or put in the details about color, condition, etc. Told the salesman, Jay, that I'd be in to drive and purchase the vehicle TODAY if he was willing to include tax, title, and fees into his price. I didn't try to low-ball the listed price, he said, "No", which is his business. But then he gave me a false value on my potential trade in according to Kelley Blue Book. I told him that based on mileage, he was asking too much for the vehicle. He then showed me a high school level scatter plot that he believes proves his price is lower than market, but wouldn't do the actual real world legwork to find out. The type of service you provided me should not go unnoticed. You guys went above and beyond what I could have ever hoped for. This is a time when most car dealers no longer treat their loyal customers as they should because of inventory shortages. 3k over invoice 5k over invoice. You guys treated me like you had 50 trucks on your lot waiting for customers. You basically did this deal via email and text which very few dealers if any will take the time to do. I will never forget the service you provided me. Like I was family. It's a trek out to Bastrop for me but I do not see ever buying from another dealer other than Covert Bastrop. Went in here last week with my checkbook in my pocket. I had $40k burning a hole in my bank account. I had won it a recent trip to Vegas but that's a different review altogether. So, why did I show up with my checkbook? Simply because they told me the truck I wanted was on their lot! Yippee! I had been searching all over online for days and blamo, there it was! I was on my way to buy a truck! A nice 2016 Chevy Silverado with all the fixins. Now, before you get too excited, let me break the bad news to ya...I didn't buy that truck :( why not, you ask? I didn't buy it because it WASN'T ACTUALLY THERE. What do you mean it wasn't there!?!? Well, let me explain a bit to ya. If this is your first time buying a car, let me tell you about an advanced sales tactic called "bait and switch". You see, they put the perfect truck up on the internets and get the prospect (me) really giddy about buying it. You even call to confirm the truck of your dreams is in fact a reality, and you're pleasantly reassured so. Then, (this is the rotten part) when you arrive to pay cash for this gem, you're informed that they made a tiny mistake and in fact SOLD THAT TRUCK JUST YESTERDAY. The next step of the bait and switch is reserved for "suckers only"... They're hoping that you come back with: "shucks! You have anything close to that truck, even if it's more expensive?" You'd be surprised how many people ask this innocent question. And then, their true hope is that you purchase THAT truck! BE AWARE OF THE FAMOUS BAIT AND SWITCH! This is an advanced move, one that is only pulled off by the absolutely sleaziest of salesmen. Now, after all of this, I have to question if the "bait" truck was even real in the first place, but that's not REALLY the issue here. The issue is that the salesmen bamboozled me into walking into that dealership with a checkbook! You know what though? I can't be that mad at him, he's probably just doing the same thing his sales manager taught him! Now that you've been brought up to speed, I hope you read my account and proceed with cation, if you do decide to purchase through this unfortunately shady business. Furthermore, I believe this is a Covert wide policy! I say that because it happened to me at their Hutto location too! This time I went up to check out two trucks, but they only had one of them! The other one, that they sold just the day before, was a screaming deal and had all the fixins!! Sounds too familiar to me!! These salesmen are all cut from the same cloth, I'm telling you what, so please be careful when attempting a purchase from the Covert dealerships. read more

After a history of purchasing approximately 12 or more automobiles/trucks from Covert Chevy in Bastrop, and being responsible for 8 or 10 more sales to others, on approximately the first of October of 2021 I made a deal with Robby Turner, a Covert Salesman, to purchase a pickup that was "in transit". I offered to send the money for the new/trade-in difference, but was told that I had been a friend/good customer for a long time, and that was not necessary. In April of 2022, the Covert website showed a very similar truck in stock for the same price, so I emailed and called Robby Turner to ask if that one would be available for the same price as the deal we made in October. I never got a reply to either. I periodically checked their website to see if the truck they had sold me had arrived. On the 9th of June, 2022, I noticed that it had arrived at the dealership, so called Robby Turner and asked him when I could pick it up. He started telling me how he didn't want me to take that truck, that it had sat on the lot too long, and those had to have new motors and were getting 8 MPG, had many problems, and he wanted to check the GM computer, and on and on and on. I never heard back from him, so I called a few days later, and he stated the GM computer was down, but he had a similar one in stock that he would let me have, but it was $4,000 more than the deal we had made. The repeated evasive strange stories I was getting made me suspicious, so I contacted the Covert Sales Department and was informed that the truck I had made the deal on the first of October of '21 was sold a day or so after it arrived at the dealership the first part of June of '22, and they told me the price it was sold for. It then became obvious that they made more money on that sale than the deal I had made in October of '21, so they sold it out from under me after I had waited 9 or 10 months for it to arrive. I then called Robby Turner again and listened to several more lies about why I shouldn't accept delivery of that truck before I informed him that I knew it had been sold out from under me. He feigned shock and did his best to act surprised. Having dealt with the owner of the dealership directly many times before, I texted him that I would like to talk to him, to which he replied he would return from out of town on Monday. I never heard from him. I will ride a stick horse before I purchase anything from Robby Turner or Covert Chevrolet again. And so should you. E. L. M. read more
