They charge $12 for a state inspection that should only be $7. Go somewhere more honest. They responded to my post rudely, so I'll never go back there. They said they told me it was $7 for cash and $12 for card. No one mentioned that to me and the only receipt I was given said it was $7. This is a small town and word of mouth is important. Respect is important. If they cared about people they would have addressed the situation with a bit more decency. read more

Make sure you get the name of whoever you talk to on the phone. The person on the phone will give you the go ahead to come in, you get there and then they tell you sorry we can't see you. Don't just let the mechanics tell you to bring your vehicle in without them physically writing/typing an appointment because the day they tell you to bring it in, they are busy and can't see you. This place was recommended highly by my mother but they just seem very disorganized in the front office portion and in communication, and scheduling. My mom loves them, I'm trying to but it's hard when scheduling isn't accurate and I have to rearrange mine and I have to use vacation time because of all the confusion! read more

I normally don't leave reviews but this time I feel like they deserve a shoutout! Service requested was easy peasy and friendly as you can schedule online Facebook or call their number. My car hasn't ran in a year. It turns on but not drivable to be up par to be "safe". I'd say the fact they have a towing service is a plus. I see several bad reviews on Bastrop's Need For Speed and I must tell you that I suspect these reviews come from competitors. I have been bringing my vehicles here for many many years. I can't remember a time when I felt like they failed me. They are conveniently located, so that if you need to wait there are local shops and restaurants within walking distance, and when you return, if your car can be fixed, and the line isn't too long, your car will be ready with a friendly smile and good advice for your car. Best to get there early, as they don't take reservations if you need the car that day. Otherwise just drop it off for later pickup, but you will need your own ride. If you insist on a ride, pay the extra freight it costs at the dealership for your model car. read more

They hoped on to my car almost instantly and still took care of another person in front of me at the same time. Everyone there was very nice and friendly. Okay,,,where do I start, is it where I saved a boat load of money? Or they got my car two days earlier than anticipated? Or how friendly, courteous and professional they were!!!!! I took my daily driver/beater into a dealer for an exhaust leak and told them just give me a price for the cheapest fix. After telling me it would be rather pricey, ,,,,,,,to their credit,,,,,they recommended NEED FOR SPEED. So I went there. There were a bunch of cars there which I thought was a good sign that a lot of people thought this place was so great that they brought their cars here. Also I generally checked the reviews online which seemly were vastly 5 stars and very positive. I brought my car in and explained to Bijan the above situation and he understood. He called with an estimate which was substantially less than the dealer, and we went with that. He called soon thereafter and said the car was done 2 days than anticipated!!!! He was very professional and very easy to talk to. I brought the car in specifically for the exhaust/muffler issue. This was my first time there. In our conversations, I learned this is pretty much a full service shop, he said they don't do rebuilds. NFS will now be one of my go to places for car/truck issues. Brought my car in for a simple wheel alignment! Well that went down hill fast, they took it for joy ride and told me it was all set! Well the car drifted all over the road except a straight line! Brought it it back and the tech said the alignment was all screwed up by the last tech and the car spent another two hours on the lift and was returned to after another joy ride and I was told it's all fixed. Well driving home I can now here a clunking noise in the front end and i found they never tightened the bolts back up! Long story short It was taken to Bobby's automotive and they corrected all the previous issues and the car handles great now! But need for speed is offering me a free oil change for my troubles LOL since they charged me $142 for crap work and 4 hours of my time I will never get back! Lifesaver! I highly recommend Need for Speed! I was out doing fieldwork for my research and the vehicle got stuck at the bottom of a hill. The slope was steep and slick and rather than making it up the hill, the tires dug ruts into the sandy clay soil. Jake from Need for Speed knew exactly where the research site was and called when he got there to find out my location on the property. He hooked the car up to a tow strap and pulled the vehicle up the slick hill. Jake is amazing and helped me in an incredibly frustrating and embarrassing situation. Had it not been for Jake from Need for Speed I may still be stuck! If I ever need a vehicle towed again in the Bastrop area, I will call Need for Speed! read more

took my car to get checked and they took 4 days just to look at it, first they told me it was a simple fix and then called the next day saying my transmission was bad . they made me pay $50 just for looking at it, decided not to let them do anything else, and my car doesn't run at all now From what they did, My car was left unlocked on the side of their shop. read more

This place is owned by the same person who owns Danny's Texas Pride. I had my transmission replaced at Pride and when I had a problem even though I had a 3 year warranty they would not take care of the issue. I had it repaired out of town and Danny was rude and arrogant not even listening to me about the problem. He just kept saying "you just want something for nothing" obviously they just want your money and not your repeat business. read more

I had to comment when I read this review. Yeah maybe some customers aren't used to such honesty when they bring their car in for work, but I can't count the number of times that I have been told to bring a car in somewhere and they will "get right to it" only to have it sit there most of the day. I took my Camry to these guys for years when I lived in Bastrop. They did what needed to be done and did not try to up sell me on work I did not need unlike the Toyota dealer I had used. Their prices were the best anywhere around and I could always trust them to use the best parts available. I never had a problem in all those years with something not being fixed correctly. Now sometimes they are open on Saturday, and sometimes they close shop and go fishing. But if you read the sign on the door, you will know that already. : ) read more

These guys are crooks. I went in to have an oil sending unit replaced ($5 item) and was charged over $100.00. They said the oil HAD to be changed and charged me for a synthetic oil change even though I told them I had just changed it and it didn't need one. They even left the same oil filter on my car. I would NEVER use Need For Speed. One of the mechanics even "jokingly" said he worked at a place that painted your old part and charged for a new part. CROOKS, CROOKS, CROOKS. I meant to leave this review awhile ago but I couldn't forget this experience. Lifted my Jeep one weekend and decided to go have my alignment done. I was the first customer in that morning and it took nearly 2 hours to complete after being told it would be done in 1 hour. It also had to be driven elsewhere to complete the service which had me worried but that really besides the fact. Upon asking management when my vehicle would be completed multiple times after the first hour, it was made clear that I was being a nuisance. Then after my prolonged wait I was informed that my front CV joints were bad with a $700 quote attached to that repair. This is a Jeep with less than 30k miles at the time and have seen very light trail riding. I personally have not heard nor felt any issues and just inspected all components during my lift kit install. Once I received my Jeep, not only was the steering wheel not properly zero'ed out and cockeyed but the alignment was worse than before with a terrible wobble! I didn't dare go back and have them touch it again, I sucked up the loss and travelled into Austin to have it corrected. I'm near 60k miles now and still no joint replacement or indication of excessive wear. read more

Had an alignment done and over about two weeks I thought I noticed the steering wheel tilting to the left ever so slightly, but wasn't quite sure because they were minute changes. I got into Austin a little over 2 weeks after the alignment and my steering wheel was suddenly almost completely sideways to the left. I carefully drove home as I had no other option and we took a look under the hood to find the lock nut on the tie rod was about 1/2 inch from where it should be because they didn't tighten it. If it had come out while doing 80 on the toll or even 70 on 71 I could've easily died. If that isn't bad enough, I took it to them and explained what the deal was and I got attitude, and it was clear I was not their top priority. They fixed it (although they allowed the same mechanic to do it which scares the hell out of me) but they never once apologized! Not a "sorry we put your life in danger" or even "sorry we inconvenienced you"...nothing! Truly unbelievable. I CERTAINLY WILL NEVER GET ANY WORK DONE THERE AGAIN, AND I WOULD ADVISE FOR OTHERS' SAFETY THAT NO ONE DOES. Customers should be able to trust that the mechanic will do something as simple as tighten a nut...especially one as important as the one that was missed on my car. read more

I needed an allignment and was referred to the owner of this shop by the owner of the autobody shop I use, and was told he would take great care of me. I called this morning as soon as they opened (8:30am) to ask about getting an allignment and was told the following, "Uh, yeah you can bring it in but you will have to drop it off and pick it up at the end of the day. (Name of bodyshop owner) made all the money on repairing your car, so I am not just going to stop what I have going on today to allign your car, because I really don't make any money on allignments. So you can drop it off but it won't be ready until this evening" I was pretty taken back when I was told this in the first 30 seconds of the conversation and assumed I was just talking to a random employee or someone new possibly, that hadn't quite refined their customer service and people skills, but was shocked to be told I was indeed talking to the owner. I have worked in varies areas of customer service for almost 20 years and have never spoken to someone like this, especially a new customer who was referred to you and highly recommended by a mutual associate. Granted I do understand what he was saying, but there is a right way and a wrong way to properly say those kind of things without coming off as a major A-hole!
