I was delighted to find that they have Guinness on tap! I have heard such good things about their French onion soup-i enjoyed it but after the first few bites found it to be a little too salty and with a bit too much bread. Regardless, it had great flavor to it and i liked it. The prime rib sandwich was great and the fries were perfect. My husband had the Buffalo shrimp po' boy, which he loved. The service was prompt and refreshingly without small talk. We don't get out often enough, but we plan on coming back as soon as we can. read more

Went to the Ye Old Coventry Tavern the other night for a few beers with the lady friend. When you walk in, you would swear you were i upstate Pa, the bar stools are old, comfortable but old, alot of other old decor. Bathrooms were very modern and very clean. They have the steamship round and ham behind the bar. The kitchen was closed but the menu looked pretty darn good. Bartender was friendly, the roast beef sammich was awesome. read more

I love dive bars and Coventry Pub certainly qualifies in this category. What makes it better than the rest is hands down the hand carved roast beef. They slow cook it for over 4 hours and and they have it down to a science... Don't come here for super fast service and glitzy bar stuff. This is a good old fashion family run local pub and they have been doing it for awhile. I saw some of the other comments about the service and yes - they aren't a Applebee's so if your in a rush head there... But you could relax and take in the atmosphere and you'll get your beer. As for food I'd give 5 stars - had an open face roast beef sandwich and it was great! My daughter had a hot dog which quite honestly was huge- but she ate it all and seemed happy and content. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because there were quite a few flies hanging around while we ate. What started out as one turned into at least 5 probably more just swarming around us and our food while we ate. It was disgusting. I know flies happen but the number of flies that were around us while we were eating while there were other people in the restaurant as well - there's a problem. read more

Food was mediocre. Roast Beef sandwiches are supposed to be their specialty, but for the price, the sandwich had a scanty amount of meat and it was way too dry. I would not return to this establishment, Arby's is better! read more

Stopped in today for Roast Beef sandwiches with a co worker, they were good, a little dry, my biggest gripe was the price 9.50 for a sandwich on a kaiser roll, No chips,no Pickle, just a kaiser roll with some Roast Beef and a slice of Cheese, after eating one still wasn't full and split the third one with my friend, If I would of even thought they were 9.50 a piece I would of never gotten a third one...way overpriced for a small sandwich..had Iced Tea to drink as i was driving a truck, so can't comment on the beer prices, there are better places for Roast Beef sandwiches at a better price. read more

Walked in the door last night..patrons said hi but bar waitress looked and ignored us as we stood to be seated before we just sat where we wanted. Burgers were dry, hard and tasteless. Fries..frozen grocery store kind. Our dining room waitress was attentive though. Probably wont return. read more

I've been here a bunch of times. I like the atmosphere, and the food is reasonable for the price (especially the snapper soup and roast beef sandwiches). They run decent beer specials, and daily food specials. Good crowd, laid back, a solid pub. read more

We went with a group of friends on Friday night. The sandwiches are good, but the best part was the fried pickles. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone that likes old school tap rooms or dive bars. read more

Well, the website states they're open till 11 p.m. on Wednesday. We walked in at 9:40 p.m. and told last call was in 15 minutes. We chose quickly from their limited menu ("fried food only", until we asked about their roast beef, which was available after all). We got much more limited portions and it was drier than we'd had previously, and the waitress seemed annoyed. At 10:30 the few other patrons were gone, and she turned off the music. We asked if they were closing, and she said they closed at 10. Last call at 9:55 and close at 10? Weird. The owner man (or manager?) had left by then and we guess she was done. We had paid by then so we took off not wanting to be where we weren't welcome. Sad; we'd previously had good experiences but will look elsewhere. read more

The service always seems rushed and impersonal. Roast beef, though hand carved, is always over-cooked and never rare or medium the way I like it. Fries are always warm and never hot. Basic bar food and nothing special unless you like beer only. read more

If your looking for a laid back, friendly environment, and non-smoking restaurant. Look no more the Coventry Pub is the place to go. Their hand-carved roast beef and ham sandwiches are EXCELLENT. There is always a great selection of beers on tap and they seem to always have a seasonal beer on tap. The servers are very friendly and very attentive. The snapper is delicious with real snapping turtle meat. I also have had a few of their entrees and I must say everytime they have been great. The food comes out in a timely matter. And as far as the guy complaining about the meat table. First of all they aren't dealing with RAW meat everything is cooked already. He has multiple knives for carving from what I can see. And the rolls look to be in a plastic bag in the tin can. I've been there while he has cleaned up and they tie the bag up and put the lid on the can that is if they even have any rolls left at the end of the night because the times I have been there, it looks like a lot of people order the sandwiches. this place is great if you love cold food and enjoy the risk of food poisoning. we went there to sample their famous roast beef and carved ham sandwiches. talk about a total letdown. the guy making the sandwiches took forever to cut a few slices of meat off and throw it on a bun. yeah they dip the cheese into the juice and throw it on. big freaking deal.now heres the gross part. they keep the sandwich buns in some sort of metal container on the floor behind the bar. who knows what falls into it and when its been cleaned or what crawls into it at night. on top of that we watch the cook use the same knife to cut the ham and roast beef and he makes the sandwich on the cutting board where the meat gets cut. nasty. all i can think about was cross contamination the whole time.when we got our food it was cold and the beef was tough. i dont see how people think this is good. the service was terrible too. we waited about 10 minutes before we even got acknowledged. got myself a water because it was pretty hot out and it tasted funny. this place looks like it hasnt been cleaned in forever and its horribly outdated. we overheard the bartender talking to another patron at the bar and i guess the same guy who owns this dump is the same guy who owns the philadelphia public house. see my review on that place as well. whoever owns these bars needs to get out of the bar business. read more
