I dined on a Tuesday evening so it was not crowded. Karen was our waitress and she came to our table to introduce herself shortly after we were seated. I ordered the Lavender Lemon Drop. It was a nice blend of flavor and alcohol so I knew I was having a cocktail and not juice. It was Taco Tuesday so I ordered a Baja fish taco ($5 each). It's a good size but $3 would have been a better deal. I also ordered the buffalo shrimp. I liked the blue cheese crumble added on top versus dipping sauce. The food and drink were delivered to the table in a timely manner but we were asked if we wanted everything to come out together or as they were made. I went with the latter. My dining companion ordered the She Crab Soup and 5 wings with the Texas BBQ sauce on the side. My Buffalo shrimp and his soup arrived first. About 10 minutes later his wings and my taco came to the table. I enjoyed my food and the service was fine. Nothing spectacular. I would return. Stopped by Rooster's about an hour before showtime at the Keswick, across the street. It was busy on a Wednesday, assume that was due to the show. It took a minute to get a table and then waited a little for a server, but once she came by and got the drink and food order, everything went very quickly. I had the falafel wrap, which was excellent, and it came with a side Caesar salad, also excellent. Good prices, too; the 16-ounce Miller Lites were only four dollars each. I'd definitely stop by here again when I'm in Glenside for a show at the Keswick. It's probably a good idea to reserve a table on concert nights. There were only two people in my party and they got us in, but it was very busy, so something to keep in mind for next time. read more

If you are going to a show at the Keswick Theatre, this restaurant is right across the street. I do suggest going to OpenTable and reserving a table because it does get very busy there on show nights. I reserved a high top for 2 for 5:30 on a show night and there were people waiting in line at the door without reservations, but I was seated promptly. They also have some tables on the sidewalk outdoors. I had their Prosecco, which is a dry Prosecco and it was fine for bubbles. I ordered the oysters, and they were so so. I was only disappointed that one of the oysters that was shucked seemed to be missing basically most of the oyster so I really only got five oysters for $18 instead of six. The mignonette served with them was very good. I then ordered the hummus and falafel wrap, which was good. I ended up eating the inside out out of the wrap, kind of like a salad though instead. My server was friendly and attentive. I had been here once back in 2019 before a show so this was my second visit. They do have plenty of barstools if you don't wanna get a table, but the bar also gets crowded of course before Shows. Parking is tight in this area when there is a show going on so I suggest Uber if possible. read more

Pros: Conveniently located right across from the Keswick Theatre--perfect for a quick bite before a show. It's clearly a neighborhood favorite because it was packed. The bar area was quite large and it appears in the warmer weather that one of the exterior walls retracts. Our server, Rachael, was wonderful: friendly, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. The drink menu included one of my favorite ciders, and the tap lines must be well-maintained because it tasted exactly as it should. The fries were simple but surprisingly good. Cons: Unfortunately, the food itself really missed the mark. The fried pickles were unlike any we've had--and we order them often. They were overloaded with greasy batter that tasted more like a donut than a savory appetizer. The wings were another disappointment. We love wings and usually finish an order easily, but these had an overwhelming vinegar flavor that made them tough to eat. We ended up leaving almost half the order. Overall: The standout of the entire visit was the service. If we could sit in Rachael's section again, we might consider giving the place a second chance--but strictly for the service, not the food. read more

I came to Roosters in Glenside yesterday with my husband for lunch to celebrate my birthday, and wow -- what an amazing experience! We ordered the Honeycrisp Apple Salad, and my goodness, was it delicious. We added grilled chicken as our protein, and every bite was packed with flavor -- from the creamy goat cheese to the roasted pecans and sweet Craisins, it was just perfection. I honestly couldn't get enough of it and think I've found my new obsession! I also ordered a beer, which came in an ice-cold frosty pint glass -- such a great touch. This place is no joke. This is a popular location as it's right across the street from Keswick Theater and a fresh look at pup food. We tried to visit another time without success due to how busy it was. It has a large horseshoe shaped bar and tables along the side along with a quieter area towards the back. It was pretty active and would be difficult for some to eat near the bar due to volume. The menu has a broad set of options and we tried several. They have some nice beers on tap as well. We started with the beer battered cheese curds and wings. The cheese curds were light and fluffy and fun to eat. The wings were crispy and flavorful. They were done well and came out of the kitchen quickly after our order was placed. For mains I had the shrimp and grits. It was quite tasty. It had a nice selection of andouille and shrimp strategically placed on a bed of whipped grits. We also had the Roosters double burger. I didn't get to taste it but it did look delicious! Our server was very pleasant but quite busy. She was not able to get to us very often. The layout of the restaurant does add to that as the back room is out of sight from the rest of the restaurant. On a 45-degree day, gigantic overhead fan is revolving for a reason I can't fathom. Eat fast 'cause the food gets cold. The Rooster Double*--house blend burgers...of course, two burgers. When asked, waitress says they're good-sized patties, so we asked if "one" patty each is available. "Yes" is the answer. The asterisk next to The Rooster Double title, I'm told, means that the meal is served with fries or a salad. There's no asterisk next to any other Handheld meal title but they all have the same distinction under the meal's description. I would've thought the asterisk specific to The Rooster Double would've meant the option exists for (1) patty instead of two, HOWEVER, the meal costs the same at $17.00; no difference between one or two patties. Awesome new spot in Glenside. Super friendly staff. LOVE the habanero salt and honey sriracha wings - crispy on the outside but juicy and tender on the inside. Perfectly cooked! My friend ordered the cheesesteak and loved it. Perfect size - filling but not ridic. My fav item on the menu thus far is the French onion soup. Too many places add SO much salt, that it's inedible - but not here. Flavorful, broth is amazing, and lots of caramelized onions and Gruyère cheese. Not an extensive cocktail menu; but the espresso martini and cosmo were a hit, in fact cosmo seems to be a crowd favorite. I wasn't impressed with the Cadillac margarita - and I ordered it twice with two different bartenders - seemed watered down. That said, I look forward to trying other dishes on the menu. I stopped by with a friend after a show at the Keswick Theater and ordered the double cheeseburger and fries with a Diet Coke and a side of habanero wings to share. The server was nice and attentive, bringing refills on my soda. The ambiance was lively, and the music was a bit on the loud side, but we quickly settled in and could hear each other talking just fine! The burger comprised two smallish beef patties, each one with a slice of American cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. The fries were also very good. The chicken wings tasted more of salt than habanero and had little discernable spice to them, unfortunately. I went to roosters for the first time for lunch yesterday and really enjoyed it! I'm already a fan of some of this restaurant groups, other restaurants so I was expecting to like this as well. They roll scrapple in cornstarch before they fry it! It comes out yellow and sitting in grease. The bacon was cold and also felt like it had been left sitting in grease. The English muffin was cold and felt like it had not been toasted at all. I tipped because the waitstaff were friendly, quick and tried to resolve the scrapple problem. They seemed embarrassed that the chef's response was," That's the way we do it here." They offered to switch for bacon but when I saw it was cold in a congealed layer of grease, I paid and left. read more

3 strikes your out!!! Well I visited roosters 3 times and after the first visit, downhill all the way. Visit one: good, cheesesteak was good as was the service. Visit two: ordered cheesesteak and lots of fat in it and service was sub par, not attentive at all. Visit three: thought well maybe last visit was just a mishap, well it was very bad. I had to get waitress 3 times and I specifically asked her to bring salad first but she brought it with sandwich. Food was not hot at all and here is the best, someone and I think it was the waitress under the tip section added a 1next to the 5.00 dollars making it a 15.00 tip and bill increased by 10.00 dollars. We called three times only to be told a Robert would call back but never did. Then to actually say in the last call: "let me check receipts to see what you signed for". Hmmm isn't that why I called in the first place since I signed for one amount and you charged my credit card 10.00 more?? Sounds totally lame. I checked credit card only to find out the gave us back the 10.00 with no apology or even a phone call. Moral of the story, CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!!! Our first experience eating at the restaurant was mediocre. But this review is about our most recent takeout order. Food was ready quickly. The wings were very dry and chalky and the house sauce was watery and didn't taste like much of anything. The spicy chicken sandwich was not spicy at all, a bit dry and appeared to contain some kind of cheese even though the menu mentioned nothing about cheese. The buttermilk fried chicken was ok, and actually had a spice to it that made it hotter than the spicy chicken sandwich. French onion soup was also not so great. The Brussels sprouts were pretty good and the fries traveled well and were pretty tasty. May give it 6 months to a year and try again but overall not impressed. read more
