I'll just get to the point - the owner is an a$$hole. Brought my 80 year old parents here and he wanted to put us at a table with folding chairs near the kitchen door. I explained to him that my parents can't sit in these chairs and asked him to move us to another table. He got indignant so I said we would leave. I told him he should be more accommodating and not be so rude when a customer asks for another table. As I started walking out he called me an a$$hole in front of all the bar and booth patrons and wanted to start a fight with me but a waiter pulled him back. This guy has mental issues. Been there twice since I moved to Glenside. The inside reminds me of the bar and grills in my native Huntington, NY. That's a good thing. We got burgers there last time. Pretty decent. We had crab cake and something I'm forgetting the time before that. Good bar and grill food. Plus, they put out mustard and cocktail sauce that are very good. One of our favorites. Food is super solid. Always fresh,always good. We aren't big drinkers, so I can't say anything about their beer selection. Although, our adult kids have gone with us and they seemed happy and my son is a bit of a beer snob. We are always happy with what we get. Sandwiches salads, entrées are all great. I've never in my LIFE experienced service like this. I left this pub hurt, confused, and embarrassed. I love mussels, I won't go anywhere unless they have good reviews ,so I ended up here. I came in excited, greeted the bartender with a smile. Whose name is Ryan. We made eye contact but he continued talking to a women, I sat down waiting but he never greeted me. I brushed it off until he greeted the family after me while he was talking to another couple at the bar (???) When I asked him about the mussel he seemed irritated, I thought maybe he thinks I'm underage or something, so I had my ID ready but he never asked, so now I'm wondering what is it?..I receive my plate and after a few bite I realized majority of them were cracked and 3 were closed, I told him I'm not comfortable eating the rest. He ask me to show him where the cracked mussels are, then immediately grabs the plate rudely tells me he's not charging me and walks away to another customer. I'm waiting there hungry waiting for him to come back to ask if I'd like anything else but he never came. I start to gather my things and I tell him he should show more kindness and offer better service. As I'm walking through the door he ask" Your talking to me ?!" I respond "Yes" he defensively tells me" I gave you a free meal! How's that not good service?! You ate majority of it! "Then flares his arms out yelling "Get out of here your always causing problems". Always? Sir how? This is my first time. I try to talk to him away from the customers because at this point it's getting embarrassing. He continues to walk back and forth behind the bar raising his voice in front of the customers. One of my favorite neighborhood stops! The pub is always a friendly and lively spot. They have 13 beers on tap which feature a few old standards as well as an impressive craft beer selection! (Currently enjoying a Tröeg's Nimble Giant) The menu is extensive, filled with quality options ranging from small bites to full entrees, all heathy sized portions at a reasonable price. If you are looking for a nice spot to enjoy some great drinks and start up a friendly conversation, I would highly recommend grabbing a seat at the bar. If Jennie is behind the bar, you'll be sure to have a laugh. She's super knowledgeable about beer, and if you mention the Philly Phanatic, she'll be your best friend. Don't try to talk Game of Thrones, though, she just makes up fake character names and plot lines.. I definitely recommend the chicken salad! It's amaaaaazing! read more

I could go up to a 3 on this place, but I am not feeling so generous today. Since the Blue Comet lost it's liquor license we opted to come here for a beer and some food before the Squeeze concert last week. This pub is a good place to go and get hammered. Also a nice place to sit at the bar and drink a beer or two, but the food and service is just ok. I did have a really good BLT, but the chicken fingers my husband ordered were pretty gross and gristly. Not saying that I wouldn't go back for a beer, just saying I wouldn't go back for the food. read more

As a preface, I must tell you that we drove to Glenside, PA to dine at Anne's Kitchen Table. These two restaurants are only two blocks away from each other, but light years apart in terms of food quality. If you're in Glenside, skip this Pub and go directly to Anne's on Wesley Ave. Giving it a 2 on service and atmosphere only. Waitress was very friendly, attentive and food was served promptly. Pub is a classic old-tyme bar & grill decor with a huge bar and dark wood paneling, which i actually dig. Because of this, I had high hopes that they would excel at the kind of "comfort food" that is the hallmark of any home town sports pub. Now, on to the food. I ordered the Snapper soup and Buffalo wings. I also shared some cheese fries with my daughter. She ordered their "favorite" hoagie, the chicken salad with bacon. The snapper soup tasted like strained Dinty Moore stew (without meat or potatos) and Worcestershire sauce. It was really quite vile. Buffalo wings were sub-par. Unlike my two favorite "wing bars" Nanny OBriens in DC and PJ Whelihan's in Allentown PA, the process was utterly neglected. It was as if they took a bag of frozen wing parts, dumped them in a baking pan, smothered them in Frank's Red-hot sauce, and baked them for 15 minutes. I sensed that they were a tad undercooked, and actually rather gross. My preferred process would include fresh poultry, deep frying, and a genuine house wing sauce recipe. Overall? Slimy and unsatisfying... The bright spot on the menu was the cheese fries, which were crispy on the outside, greasy on the inside and smothered with a pleasant cheesy substance. My daughter's chicken salad, however, was bland (no hint of herbs or spices) and somewhat bloated with chicken fat. It was served on one of these huge, overly yeasted buns that stress quantity over quality. Once again, process is the culprit. Making chicken salad right requires a more refined skills set that this kitchen staff sorely lacks. My advice? Avoid this spot if you want a good meal. Come here if you want to grab a beer and watch the game and maybe order some fries. Beyond that, your stomach will hate you in the morning. read more

The Glenside Pub has outstanding food and friendly service. My favorite items include the tuna melt platter which nearly overflows a plate, and the various other hoagies and sandwiches are all good. I also like the atmosphere. Their walls and ceiling are filled to the brim with local icons and history. The G-side has a flavorful snapper soup and a rotation of daily specials for about $18. The Pub is often crowded between 7:30 pm and 10:30pm, however, I've never once been denied a seat that I can remember. It seems to be just big enough to accommodate all the regulars for dinner. Decided to go back to a place I've been so many times. For a Friday evening it was typically busy and with the Phillies on every TV, the bar was packed and while we waited for a table, it was like old times. All I needed now was my Turkey Club and Fries and they didn't disappoint. My wife had an incredible Vodka Martini and a Rueben and she said they were great! I have been to the Glenside three times. It is a real neighborhood pub. Sort of a throw back to days gone by. The food is pub food with some good daily specials. I have had the Reuben and their Mediterranean sandwich. Both are served with chips. Fries and considered sides. Both were quite good and priced right. The salads I saw going by looked great. The craft beer list is good. It's similar to what you see in many pubs these days. They have a nice mixed of beers, probably 20 or more. I have had a couple of different IPAs. The price for the crafts I had were a little high running over $7. Maybe this is similar to other area pubs, but it seemed high during happy hour. The table services was okay, but not overly friendly. I sat at the bar during my last visit. The tender was friendly and well informed about crafts. I will go back again, but order no more than one beer. Can afford to drink more than one and can't handle the low alcohol big box beers. read more

The Glenside Pub is a fun place for a quick drink or meal. Mo the waitress is fantastic and very nice. She helps make the place. The drinks are a generous pour along with a long beer list. A great compliment to the Blue Comet, which has a bit different feel , but same great overall friendly neighborhood atmosphere. Good for the reviewer Shanika below! We're with her 100%. After three years, we thought we'd try this place again. Big disappointment! They seem to like larger groups of people. We were rushed through our meal, never asked how anything was, never approached for refills on our drinks. A couple of other parties with several people received all of those aspects of good service. Not to mention the owner or manager or whatever he was, again "Ryan" coming over to them, making conversation, etc. Seems he knew them quite well, as well as some others coming in to be seated. The waitress did not wait for us to finish our appetizers, before bringing out the main courses. She plopped them down on the table leaving room for nothing else. When we finished the appetizers, we had to wait and signal her to come over and remove those dishes. After all that time our meals had gotten cold. Again, she had to be signaled over, and asked to have the meals returned to the kitchen for warming up. After she finally brought them back out, she never once asked how everything was, in spite of walking past our table plenty of times. We noticed she did ask others who "Ryan" obviously knew and made conversation with how things were. The reviewer below and others here are right. They play favorites at this dive. The way "Ryan" tried to turn things around on reviewer Shanika below is pathetic - putting on an act in public to try and con the other customers into thinking she was a regular customer when it was her first time. How low can you go! As one reviewer here said this town is sleepy. It and this restaurant seem to be a lot worse than that. You people maintain you're friendly. No one is falling for it. read more

Great pub that I've been regularly attending for lunch for 5 plus years. I heard a cranky guy didn't like the bartender joking about tweets. Get over yourself and your "pour my beer, honey." This is a local institution, with genuine people who frequent it. A little laughter in the afternoon is common. Regulars talk sports, the stock market, news items and anything that tickles their fancy. One guy even talks about his boat, though few listen. If you want to brood in a drink, consider another spot. If you want a (typically) friendly atmosphere - you've found your spot. read more

I would have given 0 stars but the bartender/waitress was nice and my review has nothing to do with service. My wife and I went in for a quick lunch I ordered the snapper soup "which was the entire reason for me going" it was luke warm! My wife ordered the broccoli cheddar soup it too was luke warm. I ordered the "Glenside Pub sandwich " ( much like the Dickin's @ McNally's or the gobbler @ wawa) consisted of the driest turkey I've ever eaten and 4 dry balls of something that resembled stuffing and a can like cranberry sauce. My wife ordered a "paninni" which was actually a half a pita with cold roasted peppers and chicken and hardly melted cheese. Our drink ordered included 1 stoli and sprite and 2 Believe it or not Bankers club blended whiskey and gingers "$8.00/bottle I know cause I am a bartender who does the liquor order " . And to top it all off it took almost an an hour to have this "quick" lunch! And get this my bill was $49.00, $19 of which was the bar tab. My friends and I went to the Keswick Tavern and ended up leaving because it was about to get over-crowded and they weren't serving food anymore. So we took a walk up to The Glenside Pub. It was also crowded, but not in an annoying way. We are all in our mid-20s, and this was more of a crowd we would rather be around. Welcoming people that want to have an actual conversation with you. We had a few beers and light food, the one guy working there (he said he doesn't work there all the time) came over to us constantly and was asking us all sorts of questions about us and telling us about other people and business owners in the town and he really made our experience that much better! It was nice to know about the town we just recently moved to, and he was so kind. Service was good and he also told us all about whatever beers we wanted to drink etc. read more

My mom and my stepdad LOVE this place. I mean don't get me wrong I like it, but I think there love for it goes above and beyond. The best way I can describe it is the PA Diner version of Cheers. I like coming to the Glenside for relatively stiff drinks, a relatively friendly neighborhood vibe if they know you, and a good BLT but everything else I've had off the menu has just been so-so, which doesn't mean bad, just okay. I'm sure I'll keep coming here as per my mom insisting it, but I'll probably be heading to Drakes Tavern in Jenkintown with my friends if it's better food we're after. read more
