    Moon Ranch Chicken Sandwich
    Matt T.

Fun restaurant and bar in the Reading, PA area! My friends and I were traveling through Pennsylvania and we wanted dinner, a place to watch a football game, and good food/beer. We found Brewer's on Yelp and and were very happy with our visit. Brewer's had a local feel to do it and a lively atmosphere for a Thursday night. The food menu has a large selection of different types of food so almost anyone can find something to eat. Great selection of beer with a lot of regional offerings. Also seem to run a special for different types of alcohol for most nights of the week ($6 large draft IPA beer on Thursday night). I ordered the brisket meatloaf sandwich that came with BBQ sauce and gouda cheese on top. The sandwich was very tasty and I especially enjoyed the pretzel roll it was served on. I liked that I was able to substitute a side of perogies instead of chips. The moon ranch grilled chicken sandwich was a little underwhelming and the moon sauce was the only positive to that sandwich. The service was good and our server checked back in with us multiple times during our visit. There's also a beer outlet with a large selection of craft beer attached to the restaurant so you can take local craft beer home with you. They call themselves a small place with the BIG selection!

Traveled for business and ate here. There seems to be a lot of regular locals that eat here nightly but was able to get a seat at the bar. Decent bar food and great beer selection. It's a short walk from the Holiday Inn hotel so it was convenient.

What a big plate, Smoked Brisket Meatloaf Dinner. I couldn't finish it all. Great taste and price.

Me and my colleague stopped by here the other day and had a great time. Big man Jordan was our server and he made it a great experience. We gave him shit and he dished it back. The food was great and so was the service However, I stopped by again before I left town and although everyone was nice when I walked in, the service from my waitress was horrible, I almost walked out after she walked away when I was trying to order something. It was like I was inconveniencing her by wanting to eat here. She had the hatefulness in her tone and I should have left but I was hungry. I ordered a beer and although was ready to order she walked away before I could stop her. By the looks of it she was pregnant but it didn't stop her from helping others at the bar. She must have known them but every time I tried to get her attention she gave me the FU look. The previous night we had at least 6 large beers and water between the two of us for the meal but I was barely able to get a glass of water when my meal came. She often sat at the table in the front and only once asked me how the meal was, and that was when I was almost finished. She asked if I wanted another beer but at this time I was ready to leave. She eventually brought my bill but dropped it on the table and walked away. Never said anything nice or inviting to return. I paid the bill but gave her a $2.00 tip. I should have kept it and gave it to the others but that's not my style. I would have given this place a much higher rating based on the great time with Jordan but it only takes one person to ruin the experience. I travel all over and when service sucks then it all sucks.

Moon Ranch Chicken Sandwich on a pretzel roll.

Great service and food. Kelsey waited on us and was excellent. We were seated and served drinks quickly. Tried the Moon Ranch Chicken on a pretzel roll - delicious. Prices reasonable and bar is a fun spot.

We stopped here to try the wings as recommended by positive reviews from google and friends that were very happy with the quality of food. The chipotle blue cheese wings were the best I have ever tasted. I never tasted an amazing wing sauce like that before. The wings were drenched in sauce and somehow still crispy. They were excellent. My fiancé had the cheesy bacon fries. The friends were incredible and the best she has had in a very long time. Shoe string fries were the game changer for her. The bar was packed and service was very quick and excellent. Oh and the death sauce wings gave me the meat sweats about the 3rd wing in

Checked the reviews and decided to make a stop here for lunch. They had a few great specials for happy hours available on food and drinks. Waitress was fun and attentive. Place was busy which was a good sign. Ordered chicken sandwich, nachos, and a few other items. Food was not bad. Street parking was available. Seated immediately.

Nice bar with lots of seating and TVs!

Delicious MoMo Mango Salmon! Salmon cooked well with the yummy sweet topping. The Mac and cheese was excellent! Friendly staff and nice local place to have drinks and dinner while watching your favorite sporting event!

Really good neighborhood joint. The service was above average. The death sauce wings were far from death, but were crisp and had good flavor. The pizza was good, however, for the size and topping distribution over priced at almost $12.00. They have my favorite beer, Modello Especial on tap. Served with a lime in a 20 glass was a plus. I would come here again for sure when in West Reading.

There are two floors, with the bottom being the main dining/bar area with the upstairs being a small bar to go along with a lounge area that can be setup to be a dance floor or band stage. Very versatile setup that can handle a variety of gatherings. There is a side room on the first floor that can be closed off, perfect for small work parties or private events. The qualify of food is quite good under the current ownership. I remember being there for brunch when the chef walked by, said hello, and asked how the everything was. Very friendly guy with an obvious passion for what he's doing. The staff in general looks like it gels together really well. The bartenders in particular, especially on moderately busy nights such as trivia night (Tuesdays), are kind and attentive. Despite being located in a dense residential neighborhood, parking isn't too tricky with a generously sized private lot directly across the street. Under new ownership (the team behind Reading's long-revered Ugly Oyster Drafthaus), it's nice to see the Spruce continue to flourish as it had for decades prior, as sort of a heartbeat of the community.

Throw in some TVs, a big U-shape bar for maximum area, thus making it my favorite bar shape. Have you ever been standing in one of those straight-line bars, and you're about three layers of people away from even sniffing the bar. It's claustrophobic, it creates a needless bottleneck, it feels like you're about to be crushed. Not here. It's open with super high ceilings. You can go outside and play cornhole in the crisp fall air. The whole place is easily accessible either by using the parking lot out front or the even bigger parking lot in the rear. I think there is some sort of hidden ballroom downstairs for private events. Every now and then you see a whole wedding procession just casually stroll on through. I guess it's the hot destination, which makes total sense when you take a step back and can see Sly Fox for what it truly is, which is your cookie cutter craft brewery bar experience you've seen countless times up and down the eastern seaboard. I gotta give it to them, Sly Fox was one of the few breweries to break through to kind of the ultimate level. To the point where it goes well beyond just having your beer appear in local bar taps, but to be the establishment itself, and in this case, a successful chain of them. With its headquarters in Pottstown, it's always nice to see success stories like these with local roots. I will look back and think fondly of these days before it becomes a giant evil mega corporation snuffing the life out of smaller startup breweries like it once was by the dozen. Until then, might as well enjoy the ride.

The staff was kind enough to let us order pizzas with two flavors (as long as both were with sauce or without sauce) and we were excited to try the many flavors they had! My friend was vegetarian so all the pizzas we ordered were vegetarian. My favorite was the primavera because there were a lot of toppings that gave the pizza a delicious crunch and had it was a mouthful of taste. The tre colori was my friend's favorite and the pesto sauce was a nice touch that paired with the cheese. Unfortunately, our 2nd pizza was one we did not like as much. We wanted to be more adventurous and ordered the tartufata (black truffle) and quattro formagi pizza. But without the sauce, there was no acidic tomato sauce to balance out the flavor which made the black truffle/blue cheese flavors stand out very strongly. The tartufata is still a good choice for those that love truffle oil but it was just a bit too heavy and oily for my friend and i. We had the same issue with quattro formagi but i think the issue was more that we realized we just dont like blue cheese. Overall, this was a good experience! Staff was very friendly and helped answer any questions we had. We also sat on the outside patio which gave us a great view of the city and the sunset. Definitely would recommend as a good hangout spot with friends!
