Wish I could tell you about the food here BUT after being sat around 6pm we promptly got water at our table and started looking at the menu and waited. 5min, 10min, 15min, 20min nothing. The hostess came by and told us that someone would be with us soon and again we waited. A table that was sat 10min AFTER us got helped and we waited still. Finally we ended up walking out and going somewhere else and before you come for me I have waited tables before so I get that servers get busy and it can take a few minutes to get to a table but I have NEVER experienced anything like this. 2nd Visit here! We like to try out a place at least twice before deciding if we like it or not! We are a family of 6, So here it goes: Service is the only reason I gave it 4 stars, while the servers are nice and friendly service is ok! For example today not super busy but once they took our order and brought our food the server didn't really come to check on us. The food is awesome! I had the tuna sandwich and let just say the tuna was cooked to perfection and the flavor was mouthwatering. My daughters had the burgers and let me say that even off the kids menu they are delicious and great portions. The place does give a downtown vibe and that's great! Ordered a variety of food for to go- The chowder was okay, but I'd save it for somewhere else. The tomato bisque was more of a paste? I have ordered this at least 20 times in my life in various places and cities, and have seen nothing like it. Its weird, if nothing else. The wings were decent, as was the crab-roll. Great place to go and watch the game! The food is good! The burger was incredible, fries were good. The poke nachos were so fresh, crisp, and light. The Thai chicken wings were really good!, but slightly too salty. My garden salad was so good with the champagne vinaigrette but my husband and I both thought the shrimp on the salad was way too salty. The clam chowder was so salty we couldn't even eat it. I order chowder at every place that has it on the menu. (always in search for the best) The Kim chi Chicken sandwich was pretty sad looking. It needs some veggies and the bun was very soggy. It needs to be on a different kind of bun. The chicken itself was good. Room for improvement but I have a really good feeling about this place. Can't wait to be back to try the clams. The atmosphere was classy, fun, and noisy. We didn't do dinner but the lady next to me kept on moaning every time she took a bite of her steak. So I'm definitely going to try the steak next time I come for dinner. The drinks were wonderful and the hostess was super friendly as well as the bartender. I will definitely come back! So I have been to Cove about five times. Mostly with friends for Happy Hour. It's been mostly fine, not great, but prices are good. A friend and I went on Sunday around 2:30. It was not super busy. Took awhile for the server to come. She brought water, and after another bit, she took our order. Drinks came, then our Happy Hour food. My salad didn't have the dressing on the side as I had ordered. Brussels sprouts were swimming in the oil sauce. It was okay. She never once came back to our table, not even to ask how it was, or offer more water. By the time we had finished our food, we wanted another drink. Our server, along with a few others seemed to be more busy socializing with each other than anything else. We had to flag down another person to order our drinks. Our server brought them. The entire time we sat, our dirty dishes remained on the table. Even when we flagged her down for the check, she didn't remove the dishes. We did not tip well. One other thing...almost all of the female servers wore spandex shorts, sports bra type tops. One had shorts so short, they looked more like a swimsuit. I am not a prude, and believe everyone has the right to dress as they wish, but I also believe there should be some kind of professionalism while working in a restaurant. If this was a Hooters, or some seedy dive bar, the attire may have been more acceptable. I really appreciate the all day Sunday Happy Hour, but will not return. We always feel at home at the COVE. The ambiance is casual and friendly. We love to sit by the open garage door window as the days get nicer out. Service is friendly. We were very disappointed with this restaurant. Everyone recommended this place and to be honest the only good thing was the drinks and service. The chicken sandwich, that costs over $20, appears to have been maybe a quarter of a chicken breast. It was very thinly sliced. We had ordered crab risotto which initially did not include the crab. Our server was amazing and had it fixed however, had we not said anything we would've paid $30 for a bowl of rice. I have been here a few times. Each time has been with the same server Adeline. Each time the place was not busy and we waited 15-30 minutes before anyone taking our order. After ordering drinks we waited another 30 minutes before being checked on again. At this point she just brought us the check before asking if we wanted anything else, which we did. We now received the check and waited another 15-20 minutes before it being picked up. Again the place was not busy. We were here for over an hour and were only able to get 3 drinks total between the two of us due to the horrible service. Wow. What an amazing experience. We came for dinner. Sat at the small bar looking out the window. A great idea to watch the world go past us. My wife and I shared brussel sprouts with hot honey roasted oh so good. My wife had a salad with salmon med rare. I had rhe clam chowder, excellent. A nice woman at the next table told us it was the best and she was right. Also had half poke chips with special sauce and fresh tuna. The service was excellent and the server engaged and helpful. I always give establishments a few chances but this place has taken advantage of me. I have been there since day 1 from poor food quality horrible pricing and small portions sizing. A completely fantastic experience came in Thursday night the 19th and Was greeted at the door by Amy, she was so sweet and attentive. I had a wonderful Caesar Salad and a darn fine beer to go with it. That was great in and of itself, then a gentleman started playing and singing the Ambiance and sheer mastery of his voice and instrument had me hanging around for another hr. Excellent! We went to COVE for brunch. This was our first time and we were meeting with friends from out of town. The perfect spot to show off downtown Olympia! It was absolutely delicious! We stopped in on a whim & found a bar that serves a little food--think sandwiches, and appetizers. They say small plates, but this is definitely not a tapas place. Our server Noah was professional and anticipated our needs. Ambience was a little confusing, part sports bar, part cocktail lounge. Whoever decorated their Christmas tree did a fantastic job. It was stunning. My husband's smash burger was about what he expected. I had the half wedge salad which came with no dressing and didn't need any, it was delish. A whole order would have made a meal by itself. The steamers with chorizo were bursting with flavor and the grilled artisanal bread was perfect for dipping. A few more clams and a little less chorizo would've been perfection. For just opening recently, this spot shows a lot of promise. We were a party of six and staff was so great, attentive but also giving us space so we could socialize and not feel rushed. We will definitely be back!
