So grateful I was referred to Kim! I purchased a sample dress that was about 2-3 sizes larger and it was heavily beaded/detailed from top to bottom. I came in for a quote and from there my appointments went like this: 1st appt for fitting where she pinned the dress to my size and I left the dress with her; the 2nd appt I came in to try on the dress, it had been sewed down to my size but the fabric had not been cut, this was to ensure everything was perfect before making any hard alternations; the 3rd appt I tried on the dress and took it home! Kim was professional and careful from start to finish, and took into account little adjustments as needed during the process. I recommend anyone to prioritize two things before you drop off your dress: 1st, finalize any shapewear/undergarments and shoes to wear with each appt; and 2nd, finalize any jewelry/accessories/hairstyle. Unless you have a long timeline to work with, it's going to be a LOT harder to decide or even finetune these items later when time is limited and - let me tell you - you'll be dealing with a million other details. Plan as much as you can early early early and enjoy the final result later! Go with Kim and you'll be in good hands at a reasonable price.
Kim did an incredible job with the alterations for my destination wedding dress. The dress has come with long sleeves, and had cut the sleeves off to create more of a drapey off the shoulder look. She absolutely killed it. She's a true professional and a master of her craft. She consistently had recommendations and made me feel beautiful and comfortable. She is extremely responsive and just simply does great work. So happy I found her. You can absolutely trust her and her team for your biggest moments.
The photos show how much fabric my dress had before alterations, especially with how short I am! (For reference, I'm 4'11 haha and in the first photo I'm even standing on a wood platform). I bought the dress in February and brought the dress in at the end of that month. My wedding was set for June and she had it done by the end of May!! The shoulder straps were too long and needed to be shortened, I needing boning, and support for the girlies (the dress had no built in bra). With just 3 fitting appointments, Kim made sure the dress fit my body so well! I went to another tailor shop for a second price and they told me it was "impossible" to put a bra in the dress and just told me to buy the breast tapes (which I did not want to deal with during a summer wedding). I am soooo happy with how my dress fit and am so happy I went here! I would recommend her to anyone!
Kim is amazing!! She altered my daughter Junior prom dress to perfection! My daughter felt so beautiful and secure all night! She was so sweet and easy to work with!! We will be using her forever!
Kim was like a fairy god mother! I had a very specific vision for my wedding dress which involved, exposing boning, adding a slit, creating a detachable skirt from a veil, and my favorite, creating sleeves from a second veil. I had seen another bride try the same thing with the sleeves and I really didn't want mine to look like that. Kim created the most beautiful sleeves for a not so forgiving design lol. I still get compliments on my dress from my New Years Eve wedding and I really can't thank Kim enough for making my vision a reality!

I wanted to wear my grandma's wedding dress for my wedding but needed to have some repairs and alterations done. Kim handled the dress with care and seamlessly fixed holes and extended the bodice out so that it would fit me more comfortably. Her work was spectacular and it was nearly impossible to tell where the changes were made. She also provided helpful advice on what to wear underneath and how to walk to ensure I did not step on the dress at the wedding. We went through a few rounds of trying on the dress at different time intervals to ensure things were coming along smoothly. She was also able to recommend a cleaner to have the dress pressed at before the big day as well as recommend the best cleaning method for such an old garment. My husband also ended up coming to her to get his shirt, suit, and suit pants altered to fit him better for the wedding. The price for my dress was lower than anticipated and I was completely happy with the results. I highly recommend Couture Designs.
I stumbled upon Kim's services via yelp and I drove out of my way from El Dorado Hills so she could work on my dress based on her glowing reviews. I had purchased my dress blindly online during the onset of lockdown and never proceeded to try it on until months later. I had reached out to Kim via email expressing my concerns and knowing how long a lead time was needed to for alterations. She assured me the safety protocols used in their shop and I felt comfortable coming in. We started the process 2.5 months in advance of the wedding. We had the initial consultation in which she pinned me in to the dress and she was clear from the start what needed to be done. The dress had a considerable amount of length to be taken off, the straps had to be shortened and the whole detail lace pieces on the bust had to be lifted up. I appreciated that she explained each step and answered all my questions and was very upfront with the fee for the work. I had another appointment at the mid point of the process and she very thoroughly explained all the bustle options available. Fast forward to the wedding, the dress fit like a dream! The bustle, with the carefully color coded thread to match the right buttons, were the little details I never knew I needed. I highly recommend her services! Bring your shoes and proper undergarments to each appointment to get a solid idea of the fit! Alex also kindly referred a dress cleaner, Rytina's, that I took them up on as well. Overall, I was just pleased with the process!
Kim is fantastic! When I picked my gown up from the bridal salon I bought it from, it fit like a sack and didn't do much for my figure (the samples always fit better when you try them on!)...Kim knew exactly what to do to get it to fit me like a glove! She has the eye to see exactly what needs to be tweaked to make sure it fits great. I trusted her judgement and she was very easy to work with. She listened to my feedback and requests and my gown was so stunning on my wedding day! I highly recommend getting your gowns altered by Kim, she has been doing it for years and knows all of the tricks!
Look ladies, I am not at all what you call a bridezilla, but I had a lot of pressure in my big wedding event and Kim just made the wedding dress part a big relief for me. The dress fit me like a glove and communication with her and her team was so easy! If you are getting married and need a tailor in sacramento, Kim does an excellent job and does not nickel and dime you like other places. You pay exactly what was discussed. I recommend her 5 stars. Originally sleeveless I wanted sleeves added, cups added so I wouldn't have to wear a bra, a bustle, it was larger on me so needed to be taken in, and of course because I'm 5' I needed a hem. Kim did such a beautiful job!!! It was a process and each appt/fitting we took it a step at a time, but I was so happy with results! Kim is patient, explains everything, & does beautiful work. I felt so comfortable from the start that I didn't even bother to get a second quote from anywhere else. I highly recommend Kim!!!

11/13/19 UPDATE: vow renewal pics attached! Are you looking for your fairy godmother? Well she owns Couture Designs! I brought in my vow renewal dress because the zipper broke. Since the company I purchased it from wouldn't have one in stock in time for my trip to Paris, I found Kim on Yelp and I am so incredibly grateful. Kim assessed the situation, and said she could make it h. I needed about an inch panel on each side in order to fit around my rib cage (dress was couture sizing) and didn't think there was any way based on the heavy beading. Not only did she make it happen, but worked miracle to match the beading pattern EXACTLY. The dress ended up perfect and fit like it was made for my body. Kim is an absolute MUST for all brides, wedding dresses or any other alterations for your gowns and clothing. Because of her I will get to wear the dress of my dreams and feel amazing in something I worked so hard for. Thank you Kim!! You are a godsend!

Kim is absolutely amazing!!!! She is so kind, knowledgeable, and fun to work in hand with. I went to several other tailors and they quoted me an extensive amount of money for my wedding dress. Her pricing was lower and the quality of work was extremely high!! I got my dress off-the-rack and it needed some serious help. She made it look brand new! And all alterations were done well before the dead line, and it fit perfectly!!! Would HIGHLY recommend! read more

Kim did such a fantastic job with my wedding dress! She was so pleasant to work with, very professional, and everything went better than expected and was all right on time. She added very romantic off the shoulder tule sleeves and a bustle that really showed off the lace. The owner, Kim, is so amazing and talented and what she does. I brought in my wedding dress and reception dress and she did a fantastic job. On the wedding dress in needed the bottom to be taken up (it is eyelash lace so that is tricky), she added straps, took in the waist and under bust, added a bustle for the train, trimmed veil and fitted the dress to the corset. I also had a second less expensive dress taken in-in the waist ans under bust and she did a fantastic job. I believe I paid $750 for the two dress alterations, I made sure to get them to her early since she is very popular and her quality work needs time since she is very accurate. I highly recommend this place for all your alterations, Kim is the gem you didn't know you needed. Also took my dress to her recommendation "Rytina's". Make sure to ask her where to get your dress cleaned, she will give you a discount card for Rytina's which also does and amazing and fantastic job! read more

This place is great!!! As you can see from the pictures I am very short so a good portion of my skirt had to be altered since it was so long. I was so worried about the embroidered details getting cut. Kim was able to take it up from the waist. I was so amazed at how well it turned out. If you love to dance as much as I do I highly recommend getting a bustle. Kim was able to add this to the outer and inner part of my skirt. I was able to dance the night away without worrying about tripping on my skirt. Kim and Alex are very quick to respond. Thank you ladies for the awesome work!!!! read more

This is a little late coming, but I'm on a yelping streak so why not. Kim was awesome. I got my wedding dress altered here. It fit me great I have to say. She also did it fairly quickly and it was a much lower price than what Alfred Angelo quoted me. Yet she created this amazing bustle that was individualized for my dress. It had like ten different points on it. I had a pretty complicated dress with like 12 layers. She shortened it from the waist so the design wasn't ruined, did the bustle, added boning, and some bra cups. She also was very helpful in getting into it and such, as I am disabled and needed help. Usually hubby would help, but he can't see the dress!. read more

When I heard how expensive it was to alter my dress from the salon I purchased it from I immediately starting looking for another place. I found Couture Designs on yelp and read through all of their stellar reviews and had to check them out. Kim was amazing and very knowledgeable and explained the alteration process and what the heck a bustle was! :). I was nervous about having a strapless dress in regards to either having to pull it up all night versus it being cinched too tight around the back and chest. Her recommendations and work was amazing and my dress was flawlessly comfortable and fit perfectly. I stayed in it the entire night, 12 hours! I highly recommend Kim for any wedding dress alteration and her pricing is very reasonable and worth every penny! Kim is the best! Extremely talented and a very kind person. I had emailed her when I saw her reviews on Yelp and she got back to me quickly. I brought in my wedding dress which was a mermaid style dress with tons of layers of tulle at the bottom with a long train. It was definitely a job for a skilled seamstress. Since the dress was pretty well fitted on the bodice, we didn't have to do much with that. She did an amazing job with the train and bustle, sewing in cups and adding my belt. My dress also had a few brown stains from when I picked up my dress and she was able to give me a referral to Rytina cleaners who were able to get it out perfectly right before the wedding. My MOH was also late to my final fitting to learn how to bustle my dress and Kim was willing to shoot an iphone video to teach her in case she didn't make it. I always felt taken care of here. Overall, a great pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her to anyone who needs wedding dress alterations or any other complex tailoring work! (She also designs and makes her own gowns!
