**Late Review** One additional hotel for the books! My partner and I were celebrating a special occasion and decided to make a little trip to downtown Phoenix. It all so happened that there was a Cirque du Soleil show the same weekend! This Courtyard is within walking distance of the venue and is a great spot to stay if you have any shows in Arizona Financial Theatre. First off, there is a lot of construction in the area. We had to go around and make some detours to get to the front of the hotel. It took a bit longer, but with maps, you will make your way. Parking was a big downside as not much space. Your only options are to pay in the lot nearby or utilize the valet service provided. We got to the front and the front desk staff were super kind. Very welcoming and already made it feel like a great vacation to begin. We checked into our room and wow much cozier than I expected! Decently spacious for what it was, a great level of height, everything in the room was upkept, and the bed was comfortable. The pillows and bed have just the right amount of firmness, as well as a cushion for a great rest. What made our stay more memorable and intimate was how the staff went above and beyond for our celebration. I got in touch with the General Manager, Trent, at this location and they were able to accommodate us with a drink to our surprise! We checked in and voila a bottle was waiting to be popped open! This was such a generous gesture and made our stay even better.

Hotel is a combination of a Courtyard and Residence Inn, stayed in the Courtyard rooms. Entire hotel is very modern and clean. Rooms are very clean with lots of USB plugs and outlets. Beds are comfy, bathrooms spacious and clean. Love the reading lamps by the bed. Location was perfect. Within walking distance of many restaurants and Talking Stick Arena and Chase Field. Lobby has lots of seating including the typical bistro. My only complaint was the service at the bistro. For the morning rush they didn't seemed to be staffed adequately, waited about 15 minutes for a bagel with cream cheese. The person working the food preparation station was not organized and didn't work with any urgency even though the bistro was extremely busy. There is no parking garage, only valet for a fee but they have a great texting service so you can text to call for your car. Great service.

The hotel is inspired by the colorful and folk art influenced works of renowned mid-century modern architect and designer Alexander "Sandro" Girard. The hotel's bio says he was the main source of inspiration for the design of the Andaz Scottsdale. The property is beautiful to walk around, with all the landscaping, flowers and trees; some of them are marked with what kind of plant they are. There are century plants and aloe and various cacti. The fitness center is located at the spa. It has windows which open up onto the pool, which is a more private pool than the main pool. The staff is outstanding. Savannah, who ran the front desk on my most recent visit, is absolutely amazing and really helped with any questions or small issues with my stay. The restaurant is wonderful for the hotel breakfast. I recommend having cocktails there too. You can see a beautiful sunset from the bar. I love the open design of this hotel resort because it makes you feel like you're in the countryside and you can admire the beautiful views of Camelback as you walk around the grounds and hear birds chirping. It's so relaxing. Parking is easy and you can usually find a spot right outside your casita room as the parking circles the hotel. Toiletries in the room smell so good! Lavender with sea salt. It's really like staying in a spa! One of my favorite experiences at this hotel was taking a late afternoon outdoor class at the spa/gym on the large lawn where we did stretching/light resistance training with the the sunset behind Camelback Mountain as the backdrop. It was glorious. I definitely recommend trying one of the classes or "experiences" if you stay here. Some of them you have to pay extra for, but a few of them are included with your room rate. At first glance the hotel interiors and architecture seem extremely simple and minimal, but then you realize it's actually all a piece of mid-century modern inspired art. It's really fun to walk around and admire all the understated design details at this hotel.

Here for our son's birthday, brought 2 of his friends and needed to pay $50.00 for an additional wristband as each reservation allows for 4. 2. Poolside chairs, mostly reserved for an additional charge. We inquired for 2 chairs as it's 2:00pm and service closes at 5:00pm. $175.00/chair with an additional $30.00/chair reservation fee's. We opted not to do this and am hoping to find available 'free' chairs provided with the resort fee. 3. Ice cream is another issue, 3 cups of Dippy Dots (picture attached) was $38.00, not including tip. It's a nice hotel but the cost to be at the hotel once you arrive is crazy... consider this before booking, I haven't ordered the prerequisite chicken fingers yet that come with every hotel stay. Again, 5 stars for the hotel/service and amenities but 3 stars for the value... averaged out to 4.

We received great customer service here and were satisfied with our room. The lazy river is relaxing and there are so many pools and the resort is clean. We were allowed early check in which was wonderful after a 5 hour drive. So why the 3 stars? We ordered a couple of pizzas, chicken wings and a couple of beers at the food place, at the pool, located by the water slides. The guy who rang us up was friendly, but when we came to close out, he told me gratuity was automatic and to just sign for it (I was charging it to my room). I asked him "gratuity is automatic? " He said yes. I didn't think much of it and signed for it and got my receipt and went on about my day. But as I was looking at my receipt, it gave me a gratuity option at the bottom, which made me realize gratuity should not have been automatic. I confirmed with the front desk that gratuity is up to the customer. She did credit my room for the amount of the gratuity that he gave himself. In the end, it is not about the gratuity because I was going to tip him regardless. For me, it's the principal.

I ordered 2 food items and pre paid for 3 beers the bill came out to $52.18 I didn't think much of it and even tipped 25% After I finished my third beer. I decided to order a cookie with ice cream and an old fashioned to take up to my room. Again I tipped 25% My phone has text alert and I noticed the bill was $42.62 for what should have been $22.00 max I bought it to my bar tenders attention and she was working things out on the registry and came back with a receipt that didn't have prices just my order but she had added 1 extra beer. I told her it was wrong and she said it wasn't that the first time she had only charged me for 2 beers and this was my third beer. I did not want to argue so I left it at that but I couldn't sleep thinking about it. I mean dang I even tipped her good. The next day I reached out. To management I don't mind taking care of my servers and I'm always a good tipper. But I don't like being taken advantage of because they think I had a few drinks. Or they think I won't notice extra things. This is not okay. The hotel you check into is supposed to be a safe place like home to enjoy a drink or two. The management offered to refund the first bill of 52.18. But I told him I just wanted what I was over charged refunded plus my tips. At this point I feel she had the chance to correct my bill and make things right but she chose to make me feel like I was in the wrong. After the manager added my first bill up after I told him what I had ordered it turns out she charged 4 beers the first time and not just my 3 and way over charged me the second time. This is a great place to stay but keep an eye on what you order. More so late at night. Also my hot wings were cold in the center but I didn't even mention it to her at the time. I arrived at noon on a Friday after driving in from Las Vegas, and Dylan at the front desk set the tone immediately. Before I could even ask, he let me know there were no suite upgrades available but offered me a King Premium and got me checked in on the spot. As a solo traveler who had just made that drive, being able to walk straight to a room and crash was everything. He took a few minutes to catch me up on what had changed since my last stay; the breakfast situation being the highlight of that conversation, which turned out to be... relevant. The next morning, after a rough experience at breakfast, I mentioned something at the front desk and Donna, the front-end manager, stepped in immediately, not defensively, but genuinely wanting to understand what happened and make it right. That kind of accountability is rare. Saturday night brought a similar hiccup at the bar, and Sayan handled it the same way: professionally, without hesitation. The room was exactly what I've come to expect from Kimpton, clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. But the real story here is the staff outside the restaurant. Dylan, Donna, Sayan, these are hospitality professionals who actually care, and it shows. The hotel itself earns every star.

I bugged them three to five times a night and they never made me feel like I was actually bothering them. They were happy to help. They also have housekeeping stuff at the front, dried lavender packs, and shower steamers in case you want a little something extra. The only drawback for me was how much noise there was outside on Camelback Road. I know they can't do anything about that, but it kept me up. So it's something to consider.

I was put in a room in the 17the or 19th building. I got lost a couple of times as it gets quite dark and the property is a bit of a maze. My friends were closer to the entrance.
